Horsey I can drive for now, it's walking that's the problem. Hubby will be driving me anyway as he is off just now so will drop me at the door! I had a chest infection last week and antibiotics so I know that's no fun either. I am still coughing but at night mostly now. Fun fun fun! I figure I haven't worked since last tues when everything started to decline so I don't know for definite how bad I will be....or maybe I am just stupid!

izzybizzybuzzybees · 05/08/2012 22:31

SPD sufferers! Not sod! I'm away to bed now. Hoping I make it through the day!

TheDetective · 05/08/2012 23:35

Another one in pain at the moment! Mine is self inflicted unfortunately!

Decorated the nursery last night, and I just wanted to get it done - so stayed up til 4am!! Oooops! My back and ribs are aching like crazy now, and all I want is some Ibuprofen and a bath! Guess I will just have to settle for the bath!

I'm so pleased with how the nursery turned out though, it looks really good, even if I do say so myself! I've painted it all white, then done chunky stripes of colour on one wall, red, orange, yellow, green, light blue, dark blue interspersed with the white in between each colour!

Collected the pram and car seat today, and the wardrobe from Ikea. All we need now is the cot mattress, get the curtains made, swinging chair, and some things for me like nighties/pj's/big knickers etc! And I really need to get the hypnobirthing book!!

I feel so organised now! Was starting to panic!! Grin

Love those bibs linked! Might have to bookmark the link!

Argh just lost signal while posting n lost all my words on tube.

In summary. My bump, back, butt, feet all hurt!

H txted asking me to pick up takeaway on way home. Aibu " to ignore h" seeing as we have hardly spoken since Friday night.

GTbaby · 06/08/2012 02:30

Lucky H was asleep when I got home. so ignoring him was right move. But he looks so cute fast asleep Blush. My anger is melting.

Iheartpasties · 06/08/2012 06:56

Picked up my bargain ebay purchase today, a travel cot for $15! yeah! I will see if I can buy a new matress for it, not sure where to look!!?

ValiumQueen · 06/08/2012 07:35

I got my travel cot mattress off eBay. There are companies that do made to measure ones at a reasonable price.

DesperateHousewife21 · 06/08/2012 07:54

I was sick twice last night :(

Dh only going to do half day at work so he can come and look after me and ds. I don't think I've got a bug, might have been awful indigestion but either way it was horrible.

rowingdowntheriver · 06/08/2012 08:07

Sorry to hear you've been sick DH, hope you feel a bit better today.

Re the travel cot mattress, you can buy them from mothercare or mama's and papa's - I think they are all pretty much standard sizes.

I bought the Phil & teds pram from someone on Mumsnet and am now wondering of I should be getting a new cocoon bit for it. valium, I think it was you thy has also bought a second hand one (though yours is newer than mine) what are you doing about the cocoon?

ValiumQueen · 06/08/2012 08:22

Sorry you are sick DH21 hope you are soon better.

rowing my travel cot is a very odd size. I was given one initially, but it nearly caused a divorce each time we put it up so I got one off eBay for less than £10, but the mattress was about 1cm deep, so I looked everywhere for a pad, and had to resort to eBay. It was 6 years ago, so I think mattresses are more common now for travel cots.

Re the PnT. I bought a cocoon second hand long before I got the pushchair, as you can pretty much use it on any lay flat set-up, and plan to on my mountain buggy also. I got it from a pre-loved baby shop, it was £10, and I was able to give it a good inspection before I bought it. You cannot wash them, but can wipe out, and I will have baby in a blanket anyway. My baby will no doubt grow out of it in a fortnight, so will then be shoved straight into the hammock like a fat little envelope. Have you got a cocoon rowing? They can be fairly cheap on eBay, but new are about £70 and do not last more than 4 months unless you have a tiddler.

rowingdowntheriver · 06/08/2012 08:46

Thanks valium, I've got the second hand cocoon that came with the pram but wasn't sure if it would be ok to use given what people have said about second hand Moses baskets. My baby is likely to be a big one so might not really use it. I didn't know you could slot the baby straight in to the hammock (I've not actually tried putting the pram up yet so not completely sure what it all looks like)!. That's useful though and probably what I'll have to do.

Talking about prams, I pointed out a p&t's to my mum who asked if the baby falls out the back when you go up and down kerbs?! I should hope not, that would be a pretty serious design fault if it did!

TitsalinaBumSquash · 06/08/2012 08:48

Sorry to those also suffering with SPD/PGP, sickness, infection. Pregnancy is a blast isn't it?! Wink

I didn't overdo it yesterday, a short walk was it. I got SPD badly with Ds2 and was completely immobile by 30 weeks so this one might be going the same way.

Although saying that, after a weekend of doing no housework I've woken up to the house looking like a bombs hit it, I will have to do something today. The DCs are all ready driving me bloody mad. Hmm

My bump has all but disappeared today although little one is still wiggling away quite happily, I look like I've just eaten a good few pies. It's mad how it changes do dramatically day to day.

ValiumQueen · 06/08/2012 08:58

I would give it a jolly good scrub ASAP and leave it outside to air. It does not have a mattress in it as such, just padding, and would not be used for proper sleeps, just napping when out and about I would think. Obviously if there is mould on it, rips in the fabric, or it stinks of smoke or wee or poo, then I probably would not use it.

Have a look on google images or the PnT web site to see how it works. The main seat is reclined fully, be sure to check the fabric of the seat as it has been known to split, then the second seat fits on top with elbow attachments. Baby slides in the back, head towards the back, so you can see it at all times. With steps and kerbs you just need to be sensible. I have three steep steps to my front door which is why I have the mountain buggy for at home as I would not bump a PnT up and down them. When the second seat is underneath they are very near the floor, so again caution needs to be used, but you will soon get used to it.

Chunkychicken · 06/08/2012 09:24

Sorry to hear about all the illness/PGP rearing its ugly head. Hope you get some relief soon.

I'm having to stay in all day to receive my buggy board delivery :( They've very helpfully sent a txt saying the delivery window is 0730 - 1730. Just a narrow window then Hmm

I know what you mean Valium about the buggy board being uncomfortable/unpleasant in winter but I'm not sure that I'll be walking that far (unfortunately) with the DCs, particularly in terrible weather. My DSis & DM+DF live 5 and 10mins walk respectively, the toddler grp we go to is far too far to walk now so we'd drive. Other things that are closer, my DD currently asks to walk them & if it was that diabolical weather-wise, I would prob drive rather than get completely soaked myself (and have to sit at soft play in sodden jeans for example for an hr & a half). If we were at our previous house, I wouldn't have thought twice about a double as I wouldn't make my DD walk the 3 mile round trip to the toddler group etc. However, even most of the shopping trips we'd do are drive-to & then indoors, and if not, DD usually asks to walk & I end up pushing an empty buggy around... So in short, there is no way I can justify spending £300+ on a tandem, doubles are cheaper, but are they as practical? Aren't they often too wide for shop doors?

I do like the Cosatto You 2 Twin which is a far more reasonable price but not sure it does everything I'd like with a newborn (I.e. parent facing was a key requirement for us when choosing DD's pushchair) so that takes us back to the more expensive double/tandem, which we can't afford/justify for a fee months use, particularly when we have a garage roof to repair, a nursery to decorate etc. I go around & around in circles at the mo....

Anyway, now I've bored you all with that epic rambling thought-process, I'm off. Have a good day all!!! :)

rowingdowntheriver · 06/08/2012 09:27

Right, I'll do that today!

I've got a bonus free day without DS today. I only work wed to fri so would normally have DS (Alexander) with me today but he is at my mum and dads until tomorrow as they offered to babysit while we went to the Olympics yesterday and as I've got loads of stuff on today (cat to vet, me to physio, me to midwife, out to dinner with friends). Have so much other stuff todo that I'm not sure where to start. Will have a cup of tea and write a list (I love a good list!)

Evilwater · 06/08/2012 09:46

Morning all.
I'm sorry to hear that a lot of you a suffering with your hips. :(
I've got a busy week, four nights, and then travel to London to see the Olympics.

I've ordered my mattress for my cot, and the baby monitor. Looking at the adivce I'll have move the cot from the window. There is a lot of information about cots, it's driving me nuts.

I should be cleaning the house, but right now I just want to sit and relax before my aquanatel.

Brilliant thanks. Just whenever I think I'm getting there I realise how utterly clueless I am!

Just got an email telling me my barganous mamas and papas hodge podge bundle should be there wednesday! Antique cot almost finished being painted and we've decided to use some very lovely pine furniture built for us by a friend instead of our resto wardrobe and drawers as it goes with the room much better. (and I think DH wants the other furniture for his.workshop) but as we're still using the cot and moses basket which have been handed down through the family i don't feel nearly so bad!

All in all the nursery should be finished by the weekend! Will try and post a pic on the facebook page if i can - it's the one.room in our new house I'm v excited about lol!

Iheartpasties · 06/08/2012 10:01

I find shopping over here such a bugger, I can never find anything I want online, or find what shop sell what!! I think I'll ask in living overseas about the travel cot matress, but thanks for the info girls, if I can't find one over here I'll ask mum to buy me one and bring it over when she visits!!

ValiumQueen · 06/08/2012 10:01

chunky how about keeping an eye out for second hand local pick up? Side by sides are not as wide as people think. It will only be old shops that they will not fit through. My double is narrower than my old single. You sound like you have thought it through. You could always get a cheapie if you find you do need one.

Evilwater · 06/08/2012 10:04

Omg there is a test!

Horsey you are insane Shock Truly I cannot imagine how you do it. Today I'm exhausted and weepy but all I did yesterday was get driven to brunch, have an afternoon siesta and then watch a film on the sofa with DH.

I'm interviewing a cleaner today which I'm hoping will help my mental health. With the PGP I literally cannot scrub a bath and the house is getting me down. It's tough as working from home I've generally kept the place sparkling by doing small chunks throughout my day as my job requires me to be creative and I do my thinking whilst polishing. DH cannot see what's so bad as he doesn't have OCD and isn't a pregnant lunatic. Hopefully the cleaner will understand.

I'm really struggling to let go of my old life. I generally like to keep the house like a (cosy) show home, cook everything from scratch whilst having a successful career. Not only is that incompatible with pregnancy but utterly impossible with a baby. Delegating is tough though Sad
