MrsTwinks, was the test with FMU? Sometimes different tests can play tricks on you? Have you appointment booked with the doctor? They will be able to tell you for sure. Hoping it's a dodgy test! X

bunnygirl80 · 12/08/2012 10:24

Sorry to hear your news bodice

mrstwinks sorry you're so worried. No idea what to suggest other than poas again in a couple of days and make sure you use first wee of the day. Am hoping the continued sickness is a good sign.

I have felt awful all day today, just bone crushingly tired and nauseous. Had a 3 hour nap this arvo, but am still knackered. And now I feel guilty that I've spent no time at all with DS all weekend

On a positive note, I've discovered that drinking tonic water is helping with the sickness

MrsTwinks · 12/08/2012 10:27

yup FMU today, and one of the bfp was, the other not. I've not had a chance to ring the doctor as they do appointment on the day thing and I've been in work all week. A few times so far while TTC I've been really late, like 10 days or so, without a BFP, so happy I got one and now I'm thinking maybe it was playing tricks on me.

Lola06 · 12/08/2012 10:28

Bunny - enjoy getting as much rest as possible. I still have zero symptoms which is beginning to worry me. I know some people say they didn't have it bad but I thought there would be something! So, we've booked in for an early scan on 25th. I'll be 8+2 by then. Just want to know things are ok and I'm actually pregnant!

Lola06 · 12/08/2012 10:31

Twinks - so you did 2 tests and one was BFP the other not? I'd still be inclined to believe the positive at the moment.

Grad yourself another (or several!) and try again in a day or two if you won't be at the doctors in the next couple of days. I'm sure it'll be just fine.

Flosshilde · 12/08/2012 10:33

Bodice - so sorry this has happened to you. Best of luck to you and your DH. xx

ratbag - glad to hear things are better for you.

MrsTwinks - are you using tests with the same sensitivity? If you use one which can detect eg 20mui HCG and get a BFP and then use one which can only detect eg 50mui HCG then you could get a BFN if your levels are between the two. I also don't want to worry you but at 5+2 this could be a sign of an ectopic so if you get any unusual pain in your abdomen, upper legs or shoulder get yourself to A&E. Equally it could be nothing to worry about at all, but if I hadn't said anything and you'd ended up in trouble I would feel responsible.

I've spent a good proportion of this morning with my head over the toilet bowl. Envy Envy

Pontouf · 12/08/2012 11:08

Hi everyone, been quiet for a while, had quite a bit going on.

Firstly hugs to bodice, I've been there too and it is soul destroying but time (and another BFP) does heal. Hopefully you'll get another soon, but you never forget your lost ones. The 9th July 2010 and 26th October 2012 are my due dates for the ones I lost and I'll never forget them.

Also welcome to all the new people, come in and get settles in for(fingers crossed) the long haul.

So this last week has been quite emotional. Because of my history (3 pregnancies, one mmc, one DS and one ?ectopic) I was offered an early scan which I had on Thursday. The scan showed a sac and foetal pole in the right place, but no heartbeat. I was 6+2 so trying to not be too worried about that and hoping it's just too early. However, the concerning thing is that they also saw a mass on one of my ovaries. They have no idea what it is, possibilities included: an ectopic pregnancy (very rare if there is already one pregnancy in the right place), an ovarian cyst, possibly something leftover from the previous ectopic pregnancy in march or possibly a cancerous growth.

I am booked in for another scan this Thursday so hopefully things will be a little clearer then. Just quietly shitting myself in the mean time!

MrsTwinks · 12/08/2012 11:34

flosshilde DOH!!! Dh went out and brought back some more of the "nice" ones, fmu was still in pot and another faint one. Hoped would be stronger but I've had other hormones checked and my levels then were higher in blood than urine so not worried. Thanks for the advice about ectopics, had a suspected one that turned out to be appendicitis so know what to look for pain wise. Trying to get into gp tomorrow as I'm off but we'll see if I manage it..

Paranoid panicked woman of the year award to me it seems Blush

MrsTwinks · 12/08/2012 11:36

Pontouf fingers crossed for you that it's nothing too dreadful, hopefully just a ultrasound gremlin of some kind. At least lo is in the right place this time.

Lola06 · 12/08/2012 11:37

Pontouf - sorry to hear that. Try to think positive until you get the results. It's good news that baby is where it should be and it is early to hear heartbeat so all will be good. The growth could be something very simple so just relax and look after yourself until you hear back.

CamelKnees · 12/08/2012 11:58

Hi all

Can I join in?

Kind of terrified to post but got a BFP this morning and not sure I'll make it to 12 weeks without other people to talk to about it all....

Hope everyone is feeling completely rotten with symptoms aplenty Grin

threeleftfeet · 12/08/2012 12:29

bodice so sorry to hear your news, sending you hugs.

pontouf keeping my fingers crossed for you, there's every chance it could be nothing too serious.

threeleftfeet · 12/08/2012 12:32

MrsTwinks false negatives are very common.
False positives are very rare indeed!

What kind of tests have you been using?

threeleftfeet · 12/08/2012 12:33

CamelKnees congratulations!! Thanks

And welcome :)

Is this your first?

Lola06 · 12/08/2012 12:36

Hi CamelKnees, welcome to the club! Smile

MrsTwinks · 12/08/2012 12:43

I've used clear blue digital (n) cheapie strips (n) boots (p) superdrug (p, but very very pale as that was 12dpo).

Still, dh has said as long as i'm still running to the loo to boak he still has hope lol

CamelKnees · 12/08/2012 12:49

Thanks ladies

This is my 2nd (DD is 2 and a half).

Don't remember being this scared first time around. Not quite sure what's wrong with me!

SneezySnatcher · 12/08/2012 12:52

Bodice sorry to hear your sad news.

Pontouf fingers are firmly crossed for your next scan.

MrsTwinks with DD I got a BFP on a first response, but four days later I got a negative on a CB Digi. There is a big difference between different brands.

I'm still relatively symptom-free, although my breasts are ridiculously sore. I feel slightly nauseous today, so I'm not feeling too smug yet!

Pontouf · 12/08/2012 12:52

Thanks everyone. Just trying to keep busy till Thursday now so I don't think too much! Easier said than done.

Welcome CamelKnees! How's everyone feeling today. My symptoms are getting worse which I'm taking as a good sign. Not so much morning sickness as when I'm awake sickness. Just nausea at the moment which is good, but it seems to only go when I am physically eating - not good - I'm going to be the size of a house - AGAIN! I put on three stone with DS and I was chunky to start with Sad. Really want to do better with this pregnancy.

For those who already have children, when do you think you'll tell them about the baby? I'm think after the 20 week scan at the earliest, otherwise it is such a long time for them. So DS is only 21 months so not sure how much he'll understand anyway - he'll only be 2.6 when the baby arrives. Anyone got any experience of this?

SneezySnatcher · 12/08/2012 12:57

Pontouf I'm not thinking of telling DD until a month or so before the baby is due - it seems like such a long time for the little ones to wait otherwise (she will be three in the March).

Obviously this is just a plan as she's very bright so she'll probably pick up on it sooner! We are spelling things out at the moment! My friend told her DS at five months and got "Is the baby here?" every day for the next four months!

CamelKnees · 12/08/2012 13:12

Thanks pontouf

Another one here who wants to wait until the last possible minute to tell DD. She's not great at waiting and god forbid if something was to go wrong I would like to try and shield her from it (and shield me and DH from her questions about it if that makes sense). Sorry if tha sounds a bit doom and gloom, but a friend of mine went through a really awful time recently and she's found it really hard to have to deal with the many many questions from her DS.

Pontouf · 12/08/2012 14:38

Good to know, thanks Sneezy and Camel. Sounds like later is better then. I just want to prepare him for it a bit and get him excited rather than pissed off! Was also thinking about maybe getting him a doll when we tell him and playing at looking after a baby and being gentle with it etc? Does his sound ridiculous? DH is not keen at the moment but think that's to do with DS having a doll. Idiot.

BrianCoxIsUpTheDuff · 12/08/2012 16:15

Hi everyone!

Congrats to Camel and good luck for Thursday pontouf

My DD is 8.5 yo, and she was picking up that something was amiss before she went on holiday.

Ideally I'd like to hold off as long as possible but I can't, she is old enough to understand.

I plan to be open with her - that although we can be thrilled, it is very early days and certain things can go wrong. Try not to be doom and gloom but explain that we need to get to the 12 week mark.

I also want her to come to the scan with me and DP. What do you think? Bad idea?

Maybe leave the 12 week and let her come to the 2nd scan?

EssexWelsh · 12/08/2012 18:04

Greetings from Belgium-I have wifi Grin.

Tried to catch up on last few (pages) of messages. So sorry to bodice have been there and it really does get easier, hard to imagine now I know-much love xx

Angel how are you getting on? The red blood stopped after a day now back to the nice brown gunk - sorry if tmi?! Going straight to EPU Tues evening when back, to hear news of some kind. Feeling incredibly nauseous at various times of day and was sick yesterday, plus nipples so sore, so keeping positives!

Hope everyone else is doing well, actually missing my April 2013 feed Smile

HiHowAreYou · 12/08/2012 18:33
