Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
McBaby · 02/08/2012 16:35

Congratulations on all the babies so far. Very strange there are so many more boys. Maybe it's because boys are more inpatient!

Lots of contractions/braxton hicks 10 minutes apart with period pain back ache for 12 hours yesterday then just stopped again. V frustrating and tiring! 39+2 today so hoping baby comes soon.

forgetfulmrs · 02/08/2012 16:37

Congrats Ham hope you've got some much needed rest after that marathon labour. Well done.

I drove over a nail and punctured a tyre this morning, apparently the tyres on our (says sarcastically) oh so rare Renault Scenic are unusual so will cost £175 + vat for a replacement! Talk about bad timing, I don't think the DH will be pleased Blush

Apart from that I too have been feeling sick but generally only when I wake and during the night.

Needles sounds like your neighbours are willing helpers so i'm sure you can rely on them. I'm lucky that my sis lives in the same village as me so will be on call to come and stay with our DS when it all kicks off. I can empathise about DH and long hours tho.

frillylemons · 02/08/2012 17:36

Yay! Another baby!! Congrats Ham GrinGrinGrin

susiegrapevine · 02/08/2012 17:40

ham congrats!! Sounds like a long labour! All of us ie me and my 2 sisters were back to back so my mum had difficult labours with my youngest sister being the easiest and me being the hardest and forceps as I did not turn on my way down so had to be turned!.

capecath your dh is lucky to get 2 days of fully paid paternity. Companies only have to offer the statutory paternity pay and that's all my dh's company offer. So he is having the 2 weeks plus a weeks hols.

Feeling very lucky that dh only works 9 till 5.30 and only 3 days a week at the month as he was trying to go full time while I'm on maternity but still no joy there too many management changes of late yuk work politics!

Still willing my baby to stay in until sunday. Tho felt a bit sick this morn and bowels have been loose but not a mass evacuation yet so fingers crossed he stays put for now!!

The3Bears · 02/08/2012 17:54

Think my LO is far too comfy marmite who know's when he'll make an appearance as long as he is no more than a couple of days overdue I will be happy :) My mum keeps saying she think's I'll have him v soon but im not so sure. Im actually petrified about going through labour again but after feeling rubbish the past week I would rather get it over and done with now. Are you worried too marmite?

The3Bears · 02/08/2012 18:00

Isnt tonight a full moon? wonder which babies will arrive tonight Grin

PictureThis · 02/08/2012 18:39

Well done Ham, brilliant! That has put a huge smile on my face Grin.

I got a phone call from the diabetes nurse specialist yesterday asking me to go and see her today at 2o'clock and have a chat about things and to run through any questions I may have. Well I drove to the hospital to see her for the appointed time only for her to say " hello, I'm xxxxx I'm off to a meeting and the consultant (diabetic) will be here soon so someone will be with you shortly". Then promptly waltzed out of the door with the dietician. Funnily enough I was thinking 'WTF you asked me to come and see you and you're buggering off!' I was feeling a little irked as I thought I was there for an informal chat with the nurse, not a formal clinic appointment with the consultant. Anyway, I got weighed, had my BP done and more blood taken for the same test that was done yesterday despite me telling them it had already been done. I got ushered in to see the doctor who looked at my recorded sugar levels, said " they're perfect, carry on as you are". What a waste of bloody time that wasAngry. They wanted me to come back next week so they could look at my readings. I'd had enough by this point and told them that that I didn't think it was necessary if my sugars remained well within the perameters and stable and I would call them if I had a problem. Equally I would be seeing the diabetic link midwives on Saturday and Tuesday too and I had everyone's phone numbers if I needed to contact them. Admittedly I was probably a bit arsey and should have remained calm and polite but I was so cross after planning my day around this appointment only for it to turn out to be a waste of time. As I'm being induced a week on Monday I won't need to see them again until 6 weeks postnatal. On the plus side, I've only put 12kg's on this pregnancySmile. I've just read this back and what a rant! I bet you all think I'm rude and totally unreasonable personBlush. I'm not, I promise.

Vinolover · 02/08/2012 19:29

Congratulations Ham!!! I'm so happy for you :) :) :)

You rant away picture. It must be so frustrating :(

I had to be checked at the day assement unit today as my MW thought he was breech again. He fooled two MW's and a dr but a scan confirmed he's head down and all is as it should be. I was also on the monitor for an hour and he was looking very happy in there but it also showed zero tightenings and the MW thinks labour certainly isn't imminent :( She even told me to enjoy the next few weeks being baby free! (Im due in 9 days!!) Lets just hope that next weeks sweep starts something off!

I did treat myself to a full sized tub of my favourite ben and jerrys to cheer me up though Grin It might put some fat on that boney bottom of his!!!

Lovemarmite · 02/08/2012 20:04

Hi 3bears, kind of coming and going on the worried stakes about labour. If I'm really honest with myself and can be centred and at peace, then I know I can trust my body and what is happening but I think it's the hospital part and the interventions that are my bit of lip quivering.
Before I got pg I was only wanting a c-section but during the pg, it all feels so natural and I would love a natural birth, just not going to bottle it now Smile. It really helps to be here with everyone!

Rant away picture, no probs!
Vino yum to a big spoonful of that Ben and Jerrys!
I had a wheatgrass and spirulina carrot juice earlier (how horribly healthy!) and have bounced around with tons of energy since!

Hmm how many babies with tonight's full moon then?

capecath · 02/08/2012 20:12

needles haha! Ok fair enough, can't bring patients home hmm.

susie wow didn't know that. It just seems crazy given how much maternity women are entitled to.

CONGRATS ham!!!

Just found out I am officially anaemic. Great. Been prescribed some stronger iron supplements now so here's hoping can get them up enough for birthing centre... Pelvic pain awful, and baby seems to keep hitting a nerve in my lower back which makes me need to stop and cringe horribly. Come soon, baby!!!

Lovely DH just bought me Haribo :) Simple pleasures :)

(38+2)

justine09x · 02/08/2012 20:17

Congratulations Ham!!

Not liking the sound of back to back, been told at my appointment today that my little lady is back to back :( just a bit worried now, I've had two normal deliveries last one was extremely quick. Not sure what to think now supposed to be having a hb but nowbim worried about whether her position will affect the length and pain during birth......having a hormonal wobble me thinks *needs glass of wine...or the bottle, but none in the house and not recommended to drink a bottle lol

ishopthereforeiam · 02/08/2012 20:19

Needles - re the back to back, not necessarily. I only found out with dd when I was in labour (!) and the midwife had me lie on one side to try and
encourage her to turn... Hmm

forgetful such a pain with the car, but remind dh at least you're all healthy and happy (and distract him from the cost)!

cape - what was your HB level? Try not to worry too much, mine was 8.6 about a week and a half before labour, managed to get it up to 9.6 for labour then dropped again post but other than the odd dizzy / faint spell I was quite lucky and so no transfusion etc. Hopefully you'll have time to get your levels up. Good luck!

OP posts:
justine09x · 02/08/2012 20:23

Oh Cape, I found out I was anaemic 2 weeks ago. I can really recommend Spatone (tablets give me runny side effects sorry tmi!) Spatone is a liquid supplement that really has give me a boost with less side affects. I pour it in orange juice as vitamin c absorbs iron into the body.

It's so annoying trying to boost Iron I had to get mine up for home birth...good luck :)

frillylemons · 02/08/2012 20:24

Is anyone else getting bad sickness? I've been sick every night since Sunday around 10.30 pm. Sad

Vinolover · 02/08/2012 20:39

Marmite that is far too healthy for our gestation Wink Glad you have loads of energy though, im just exhausted this evening but fully intend to have a nice active day tomorrow. Please let the weather be ok!!!

3bears try not to panic too much about the labour. We have the added bonus of knowing just how amazing it feels at the end :) (this is what I keep telling myself when I have a wobble).

Enjoy your haribo cape :)

WelshLadyCDF · 02/08/2012 20:44

cape I am not sure about the recommendation to take Spatone supplements if the doctor has given you iron supplements, I am taking ferrous fumerate supplements 120mg they have taken my iron up to where it should be. Remember to take some vit c when you take them eg orange juice , nothing milky, to help absorb.

Also (tmi warning) they may make your poo dark, don't panic!!

susiegrapevine · 02/08/2012 21:01

Oh cape your partner can take 3 months of your maternity leave these days but you have to go back to work if they do that and the last 3 months of maternity leave (if you take a year) aren't paid anyway. Well dependant on your employer but rules say no pay so I guess you could take 6 months and partner take 3 and still get some money but yeah it sucks for men really they are trying to change it though. Anyway don't forget my grandad told me when my grandparents had there kids there were no maternity benefits at all! And my grandma even had to sign a contract to say she would not get pregnant for x amount of time! So we've come a long way!

eightieshopaholic · 02/08/2012 21:16

Congratulations Ham.

one week and a day before break up, willing little one to come sooner. Getting tough now but really think will go over so want to save as much time with baby as possible.

38+4

justine09x · 02/08/2012 22:11

I did point out that I took Spatone INSTEAD of ferrous sulphate as a lot of pregnant women don't agree with tablets. Was sympathising with Cape as know why it's like to have a deadline to raise iron levels. No harm in boosting vitamin C alongside as this really does help boost the body's iron absorbtion.

Wow was just trying to join in chat for fifth time will keep Schtum from now on....

Well done ham ! Congratulations!

ChicBabyP · 02/08/2012 23:29

Congratulations Ham!! I'm so excited and happy for you, enjoy lovely cuddles with alexander.

And to all others 11th group,be warned!! one free pass was enough, now I'm claiming back my space and I am next in line... just hope baby gets the memo too! Hmm

went for a long walk tonight and still nothing Sad. I'm giving up, just going to wait for the section on monday! I'm just tired of thinking about it every minute of every hour of every day...

therumoursaretrue · 03/08/2012 05:46

Congratulations ham!

I am having quite painful contractions tonight but no pattern to them at the minute so assuming they are just Braxton Hicks. Anyone able to shed any light on how their labour started? Are these likely to be a sign something is going to happen? I had regular contractions for a couple of hours on Monday which stopped again but these are a lot more uncomfortable.

I have to be really careful if I go into labour on my own because of the drugs I'm on, so I'm worried that I'm missing something, and also DP is still about 800 miles away and not due back till Wednesday!
