Grr, midwife said all fine see you next week! Coming to the house on 9th for a sweep. Really can't face another week or two of this! Went to see the twins next door for a cuddle to remind myself why I'm putting my body through this and it looks bloody hard work with two! Had some good cuddles but all they want is milk! Midwife suggested sex to get things going. DH tried this morning but I'm feeling so fed up with my body and all of the aches and pains that I just couldn't get in the mood. Might try again this evening after a nice meal and a relaxing bath.
Thinking of you ham and picture x

ImissMiniPop · 01/08/2012 15:30

Wishing you all the best picture Thanks

Nightfall1983 · 01/08/2012 16:50

Just saw the midwife for my 36 week check (36 + 4). All's well, babe is head down (something I'm still a bit paranoia about as he/she seems to move a lot)... and... 1/5 engaged - whoop! That'll explain the cervix pains then...

Next apt is at 38 + 4, don't want to see baby before that as DH is off to a festival next week and not back till 38 + 2!!

PictureThis · 01/08/2012 17:05

It's confirmed I have developed gestational diabetes. I have to adopt a low gi diet, monitor my sugars post meals and I'm having a repeat monitoring on Saturday. Induction is booked for the evening of Mon 13th August, that is if the sweeps don't get me into labour first. Thanks for your supportive kind words today, really appreciated.

Nightfall1983 · 01/08/2012 17:23

Aww sorry to hear that Picture, but at least now you know and can do something about it - plus only two weeks to worry about your low GI diet and then baby baby baby Grin

MrsMigginslovespies · 01/08/2012 19:07

Wow Ham, so excited for you! Hope you're ok and doing well. Can't wait to hear your news Smile Smile.

Sorry to hear you've had a tough time Picture but not too long now then baby will be here. Thinking of you tonight Thanks.

Had a really busy day again today clearing out the school shed so we can use it for our pram wheels/other guff etc. Knackered now and can hardly move but really pleased that another job has been ticked off the list. DH made lush nachos for supper, so now full too!

Please keep posting everyone about your symptoms etc as I find it really helpful to read what's going on with you all. Hope not too nosy!

x

How different to BH do contractions feel in the very early stages? Had a strong tightening every 15 mins for last hour and a half. No real pain, just everything squeezing tight. I'm not getting excited just yet but going to keep an eye on them just in case. Fingers crossed and legs open!

NeedlesCuties · 01/08/2012 20:19

white for me when I had DS the contractions were sore, but I think this was because my waters broke first so I was 100% in labour.

The day before my waters broke I remember spending the day with my sister and just not feeling right, with frequent BH and just feeling 'wrong'. That day I wasn't sore, but just very uneasy and uncomfy.

You are due tomorrow though, so this could be it all starting! :)

Lovemarmite · 01/08/2012 20:40

Oh white that sounds exciting!
I remember Ham said that she'd been getting them for about a week and then today she's in labour.
My tightenings have coincided with back pains today and feelings of being very odd, almost ill and then teary all of a sudden. Now I have a few period type niggles but wondering if its too faint at the moment. Sudden rushes of warmth are also going to my face and I look flushed!
I guess we're all going to be different but I'm hoping this is not what it's going to be like for me for the next few weeks Hmm
Let us know how it goes x

Lovemarmite · 01/08/2012 20:41

Picture, hope you can enjoy the last few days on a low GI diet and put your feet up x

Westcountrylovescheese · 01/08/2012 20:54

Picture at least you know and can do something about it... and it's not long to go. Hope you are feeling ok about it and positive.

Well I've just spent the whole afternoon in the hospital as my blood pressure was slightly high and they were worried about pre eclampsia. They sent me up to the labour ward for treatment, which was weird as I could hear a baby crying. Assuming they sent me there as near to due date. Anyway looking like no PE but they are keeping an eye on it.

I am also now booked in for a sweep on August 10th, 3 days after due date... just in case.

Whiteangel, sounds good. Loving the fingers crossed/legs open!

hamncheese · 01/08/2012 21:20

Hi all

Still I'm labour and oh my god its sore! Am managing on paracetamol and codeine but have been contracting all day. Was still only 3cm at 12 now its 9 and have only had one in the last hour and it was horrible left me shaking and out of it. Hoping its a bit of transition and ill get going again soon, feel so odd right now but not going up again as they said if I do they won't let me go back home. Hopefully will have baby news soon tomorrow if not today

Westcountrylovescheese · 01/08/2012 21:30

Ham, keep your eyes on the prize! You poor thing, it sounds exhausting. Are you managing to sleep or get any rest? Do they know why it's taking so long? Sending you and baby lots of good luck wishes. x.

eightieshopaholic · 01/08/2012 21:41

Good luck Ham x

Well had consultant apt today, didn't say my crohns playing up wimped out!! thought best to try and let nature take its course.

consultant was not happy with my thyroid tests and mentioned inducing due to tiredness she checked my cervix not a pleasant experience I have to say!! and i am ashamed to say I sent the student dr out thought a mw consultant and nurse was enough oh and the student was a Man!!! she said could feel his head but could tell cervix not ready and any induction would more than likely end up with c section so advised me to wait till see mw next week and hope happens of own accord before!!

Looks like I'm back off the queue for August births my little man wants to stay put!!

Whiteangel · 01/08/2012 21:55

Oh ham, hope it gets going again soon. Nothing really going on now for me. Think it must just be stronger BH. Any sign of progress is most welcome though. Feel a bit more positive than I did this morning xx

ffscatmove · 01/08/2012 22:14

Try & rest up while it's going slow ham - good luck! Hope it's not too much longer for you
Have been really mardy this afternoon, don't know what to do with myself and had a good cry this evening for no good reason Sad LO also doing something unpleasant to my hip, have had to have a strong word!
Picture sorry to hear about the diabetes but at least not long now - I will steer clear of the Biscuit tonight in sympathy!

PictureThis · 01/08/2012 22:33

Love the solidarity ffscatGrin. Blood sugars very good this evening and seeing the diabetes nurse tomorrow just to go over things. Feel much more in control of the situation now and reassured that baby is apparently no worse for wear after his glucose overload during the past few weeks. Parental guilt, there is no other emotion like it!

Ham try and rest as much as you can between these contractions. You've probably tried a soak, did it help to relax you at all? If so get in the bath/shower again and stay in for as long as you're finding it beneficial. Eat little and often and just find a position to rest in. Make sure you stay hydrated-very important for labour, you'll be just fine.

forgetfulmrs · 01/08/2012 23:01

I'm just getting into bed have been out for curry with DH this evening. Just to help things along. Spent all day wandering round the shops with my mum and DS so we'll see...

Picture so sorry about the diabetes, what a pain. But good that baby is fine.

Good luck Ham you must be exhausted. Nice to be at home as long as you can though, in familiar surroundings. Wonder if baby will make it on the 1st or hang on til the 2nd? I don't mind you jumping the queue Smile

I'm booked for a sweep on Wed 8th when i'll be 40+2. Hinted at my midwifes appointment yesterday that I'd like one sooner but she kindly turned me down. I'm measuring 41cm though!

I watched the MW programme last night, couldnt resist. Although I closed my eyes through the forceps delivery, it just looks so brutal!

Hoping everyones aches and pains don't stop them sleeping but progress just the way we want them to.

capecath · 02/08/2012 07:41

Actually had a good night's rest last night. Perhaps was the lovely tummy rub from DH :)

picture that's rubbish about the diabetes but at least it has been picked up and is being monitored. We may end up with same date since I am due for induction on or around the 14th if no baby by then! Starting to feel like baby is never going to get here sigh

DS turning 2 next week so hoping no baby on that day!! Before or after!! May delay the party and just do something fun with not a lot of organising required...

white contractions are normally painful compared to BH, but still a good sign of things getting ready, I think! ham with DS, labour started one night, died down the next and I almost went home, but then it started up again the following night, so don't lose heart, think it can just take a long time sometimes.

capecath · 02/08/2012 07:42

P.S Seem to be having issue with pelvic girdle pain, at least the description matches exactly how I am feeling! Hopefully just a sign of baby moving further down...

NeedlesCuties · 02/08/2012 08:19

Need advice, please:

Is anyone else stressed out with a DH who works lots of hours? I posted before about how my DH's boss says he isn't entitled to Pat. Leave due to not having been in the job long enough - he has to take any time off for Pat Leave as a mix of unpaid leave and annual leave :(

Anyway, she has him working normal long hours right up to the day I'm due. He does 8am-8pm twice a week and he's doing this right up to the big date. Also he does weekend work and evening work too.

I know we need the money because I'm a SAHM and thus don't get any Mat. Pay, but the thing that's stressing me is cuz we clearly don't know when DC will arrive, and with DS I gave birth at 39 weeks.

I have Group B Strep and have been told I need to be in hospital soon after I go into labour to allow time to get a drip of anti-biotics. Am panicked thinking about the logistics of it all if DH is 30 mins away from home (which itself is 20 mins away from hospital) and if I'm at home with DS. Will need to grab a neighbour to sit with him while waiting for my mum to arrive to mind him.

Soooo, AIBU? Do I just need to rein in my hormones?

Lovemarmite · 02/08/2012 09:29

Needles
I think your DH's boss is being very unfair as she obviously knows you're pg and it's imminent. Difficult for your DH if he can't change things and do some sort of flexi time or is unable to get some more time for him as well as you. I can imagine your frustration but not sure how I would tackle it as your DH is up against it too. But reading your post, it seems that it might be the labour and when it happens and your DH is not there, the logistics etc. Perhaps you could work out something with a friend or a neighbour as you suggest, so you can feel supported until he and your mum comes?

My DH works stupidly long hours and it's now likely to get worse as he's having to sack two staff members and then he has to cover the work load too, plus he works UK hours, USA hours and amazingly he has to speak to colleagues in India too and so he can be working from 6am to 10.30 pm some days and then he's knackered for anything else! At the moment, he's off to London (2 hours away) and can't get back straight away and he's up in town quite a few days next week (edd next Saturday). So today my sister is coming over to be with me for most of the day but I don't have any other little ones to look after which makes me fine about it.
To be honest, I find it very hard as I am very hormonal and last night I boo'd at him as he was so stressed about the sackings he is sorting out with the lawyers. He stopped stressing after my tears and then I declared that I can't face his parents on Sunday as his mum gave me a weird lecture two weeks ago about how my LO will break my heart when she leaves home which relates to how my DH broke her heart and she had tears in her eyes when she said this to me. I had heard from other family members that she blames me for him moving away and that she doesn't know why he has changed so much. So I said, no! I can't take your mum's craziness with these hormones. Not cool, to explode to DH about this especially as his dad is coming down to help move things which would mean his mum has the time to pester me! OK, sorry gone off on a different track there!

Thinking of you Ham and wondering how you're doing!

NeedlesCuties · 02/08/2012 09:47

Thanks marmite.

I'm going to 'network' with some neighbours next week and get some phone numbers so I can ring if I go into labour or need help. I am on good speaking terms with all the neighbours, but don't really know them well enough to have their numbers, IYSWIM.

Your MIL sounds a lot like mine. It is a bit of a generational tradition for the youngest male in that family to stay living at home forever ... not sure if it's a rural NI thing, or just them being bonkers. Anyway, I'm glad I married the eldest son Wink

Anyway, am taking DS to the park soon with a friend and her son's, will try to stop worrying about DH and his work.

Can anyone tell me what a "show" is actually like? (TMI) This morning I had two smallish blobs of mucus, basically just like two blobs of snot, greenish yellow and v. thick but quite small. My "usual" discharge is the same colour but very watery, not like this at all. So is this a show? The beginning of a show? Nothing?? If it is a show do I need to do anything about it? Thanks!!
