Hi all

Woke up to back pains and this weird movement of um gas inside me which has become pale pink watery discharge so heading to mat assessment to see if show or waters. Having semi regular low back pain too though so we will see :-)

Eep!

The3Bears · 01/08/2012 06:37

Ekkkk! Ham sounds like you could be having your LO soon Grin good luck, so excited for you!

I am definitely not feeling right either hardly slept been having v weird pains low down and feeling v sick all night on an off, not getting hopes up though think it may be body preparing for labour etc have my midwife appt today so will ask her :)

Hope your okay now weekipper In the last few weeks of my 1st pregnancy I was constantly sent to hospital as my bp was high and it really frustrated me because I felt fine, at least you'll be induced if it continues to be high and soon you'll have your LO :)

miaboo Hope you have a nice cinema trip with your ds today and arent in too much pain, not long left now.

Hope everyone else is well today.

hamncheese · 01/08/2012 07:47

It's official... was 2-3cm at about 6am Grin Apparently the back pains, evacuations etc have been something not just me imagining.

Waters probably still intact unless they have burst higher up but MW thinks unlikely. The discharge is the show... FYI I think I've been having it for the last week and thought it was just regular discharge... it's really not as mucousy as I thought it would be. At first was just like egg white (nice) and the stuff I got today was similar but pink/red.

Anyway so she decided to examine me only because the show was quite bloody... if not she was just going to send me home. So she did a speculum and found waters not gone then vaginal and was like "oh! do you want the good news?" I was like um YES and she said 2-3cm quite surprised! Baby on monitor was fine. BP was high when I went in so was worried they would be keeping me in or doing some sort of intervention but it went down so was just that I was nervy.

TMI: Heads up, I've been majorly evacuating since I got home which is ok but kind of uncomfy and the contractions seem to bring more out.

Got the tens on which is really good for the back pain, so already recommend it :) Anyway going to go get some light breakfast in between contractions. They are getting more painful already and feel JUST like very sore period pains at the moment. It's taken an age to write this as I need to walk about when they are there or it's really sore!

Hopefully will update with good news soon... SO EXCITED Grin

ps marmite bears and vino you need to go too now so we can all be the same and apologies to anyone else for queue jumping Blush

hamncheese · 01/08/2012 07:48

oh also she gave me a sweep while in there and it was sore but not unbearable

sc0ttishlass · 01/08/2012 07:56

oh so exciting Ham!!! I am at the Royal for an appt today so will look out for you - you may be back in by then ;) good luck - and just shows your instincts were correct!!!

congrats to everyone who already has there little one - so do we have an actual August baby yet - or might Ham be the first, to go with our July babies...

also - did anyone watch the midwife program last night - not sure whether was good or bad - was crying at it anyway :)

have a good day everyone!!

xx

NeedlesCuties · 01/08/2012 08:10

That's exciting ham!

sc0ttish I watched that Midwives programme last night. Was also gurning my eyes out, esp when watching that dad crying about his sick son :( The labour bits did remind me a bit of real life when I had DS, but that Manchester hospital was so busy, which just wasn't my experience in a reasonably sized Belfast hospital. When I had DS I was the only woman in the delivery floor for hours (I had a 17 hour labour!) and I think only 3 babies were born that day.

sc0ttishlass · 01/08/2012 08:33

oh needles thats good to hear in a way as i think the businesses scared me a bit! yes it was that dad crying that got me too :( the programme didnt seem as bad as OBEM - more realistic I guess!

off to hosptial shortly to find out if blasted placenta has moved the last 2mm out of the way which will determine my c section or not - im fine with whatever the decision really - have head around both ways I guess!!

how miswerable is the weather! its like winter!! no washign blowing on the line today :)
xx

Westcountrylovescheese · 01/08/2012 08:41

Ham, very excited for you! Hope it all goes well.

The3Bears · 01/08/2012 08:57

So excited for you ham hopefully it wont be too long for you x keep us updated when you can :)

woopsidaisy · 01/08/2012 09:01

Oh ham that is so exciting!
Good luck with it all....can"t wait to hear of arrival.

woopsidaisy · 01/08/2012 09:03

I forgot to mention this yesterday.

Went for a blow dry, and three hairdressers asked me if I was going anywhere nice....Confused
I am over 39 weeks pregnant, does a labour ward count as somewhere nice?Grin I also look like I'm about to have an elephant!!

Lovemarmite · 01/08/2012 09:17

Oh Ham I'm so excited for you!
After my day yesterday with all the pains, more discharge, big dampness (TMI!) etc I was thinking this might be it. However, woke up this morning with strong BHs, more back pain and breathless but nothing of the discharge you speak of, but oh yes, a massive evacuation.
I will be hoping for the 'show' of fluid now so we can go together!

Good luck, thinking of you! x

ChicBabyP · 01/08/2012 09:19

Oh ham I am so Envy, and naughty you for skipping the queue, but really I wish you the best of luck and can't wait to hear your lovely news!!! So exciting!

I've got a feeling this baby doesn't want to come out and will have to be forced out by c-sec. Still not engaged and not much happening on the pains/niggles front. Saw consultant yesterday and discussed briefly the section and I got so nervous that I was on the verge of tears all day after that, so dh took us to cinema to take my mind off everything, bless him.
It worked, and I even managed to sleep like a baby for the first time in weeks! Miracles do happen!

Hope evryone is well. Have a lovely day.

susiegrapevine · 01/08/2012 09:23

Good luck ham

Good luck needles hope placenta has moved!

Watched the moidwives program thought it was much better than obem very real and showed different kinds of labour as well as active labour which obem never seem to show as these are generally the ones that don't need so much intervention so ladies remember keep moving! If you can! Next weeks is about student midwives!

Lovemarmite · 01/08/2012 09:35

Oh chic you're doing way better than me - I seem to cry at every opportunity now! I was in floods yesterday with the mw and had a few more today!
Hope your LO engages and things progress for you asap

Whiteangel · 01/08/2012 09:37

I recorded it. Didn't think it would help me sleep. After much too much RLT yesterday I was having some spectacular BH before bed and got a bit excited but then slept really well and nothing this morning. About to attempt to pee in a pot. It gets harder every time! Midwife at 10:15. Would love her to surprise me and say ooh I can see the head! Worth hoping I suppose! Will be very disappointed if she says all fine, see you in a fortnight like everyother blooming appointment. I'm due tomorrow, get him out now please!
Good luck ham. Very jealous of your queue jumping but one more healthy baby and happy mum are what's important xx

Vinolover · 01/08/2012 10:07

Ham I am so excited for you!!!!! Fingers crossed we won't be too far behind you :) can't wait to hear your news!

ImissMiniPop · 01/08/2012 10:10

Good luck Ham How exciting... :o

geekette · 01/08/2012 10:35

Good luck ham! You are on the home stretch now!

I also saw the midwife programme last night. Thought it was fab. Was able to compare it to what I see here on the ward and it isn't too different.

ffscatmove · 01/08/2012 10:45

Good luck ham! Envy
Thinking of you Picture, it's hard when you know too much - I'm an ODP & I find I turn into 'the patient' far too easily - and a very dippy emotional patient at that! Drives DH up the wall (i.e. at booking appt, I forgot about loop excision I had when asked about health - obv cervix not remotely important for pregnancy, ffs! Fortunately DH was there!)
Trying to hang onto your professional head when it's your own / your baby's health is hard, just try & remember your colleagues will do their best for you just as you would for your patients/clients!

PictureThis · 01/08/2012 11:06

I know they will and for that I'll be eternally grateful. I'm on the ward now having had part one of the test and another reassuring monitoring. Hasn't stopped me crying 3 times since I got here thoughBlush.

Lovemarmite · 01/08/2012 11:11

Sending you a big hug Picture and a tissue
Hope all is good and let us know how you get on BrewBiscuitThanks

Westcountrylovescheese · 01/08/2012 12:05

Picture, lots and lots of good wishes. If it makes you feel better, we just got a gold medal! I am crying with you!

Best of luck and let us know how you get on. x.

geekette · 01/08/2012 12:20
