Congratulations Warzone!

MrsMigginslovespies · 29/07/2012 21:03

Congratulations Warzone! Wonderful news and I'm glad that all went well for you, despite what sounded like quite a long labour?! Hope you an your little one are doing well tonight. Sending Thanks to you all.

OOh, Ham, good luck! Keep an eye on it and let us know, but hope you feel ok.

Update from moi: nursery almost done! DH did a lovely job with the stickers etc and we really are almost there now. Seems to have been an epic journey to get here! Feeling tired and big tonight, not helped by the pasta I had for supper. Stomach feels tight and achy and I've had some pains very low down in pelvis (probably from doing too much earlier). Are you all having regular rests in the afternoon? I keep getting told off for not sleeping more in the day.

TTFN xx

eightieshopaholic · 29/07/2012 21:13

hamncheese · 29/07/2012 21:13

Hmm it is still there keeps coming and going but really inconsistent like nothing for an hour. Don't want to get my hopes up. Have been feeling a bit unwell like you say needles but feel like that quite a lot Haha! Will see how it goes getting a hot water bottle for my back and going to bed, will probably wake up in the morning feeling nothing. At least its all good signs towards preparing for labour even if not the start... going to repeat "stay positive... don't think about going over due..." over and over now :)

PictureThis · 29/07/2012 21:24

I've been in agony with my back since yesterday afternoon. I think I did too much despite using my crutches and I'm paying for it now. DH has been absolutely bloody useless and took himself off to work today so I've had no chance to rest. Then tonight he tells me that he's come up with a really good idea, the week the baby's born he'll work half days instead of having the week off because as his customer pointed out he cannot not work as he'll be bored!!! I'm so fecking angry I was speechless when he told me. How does he think this is a good idea? In all seriousness I am better saying nothing to him at the moment because if I start I don't think I'll be able to stop. I'm still waiting for him to get my bag down from the loft so I can pack it, something he was supposed to do this weekend as he hasn't found the time this week AGAIN. Still, at least he found time to watch the grand prix and some of the Olympics when he got home before going into the (home) office to do paperwork. I could go on but I'm making myself more angry. Sorry for the rant but if I don't I'm going to end up murdering him.

Glimpers · 29/07/2012 21:25

Congrats warzone lovely name Smile
Ham I laboured in my back with DD, had no pain in the front at all. It started exactly like you're describing. I've got a prolapsed disc in my lower back and used to get spasms, which is what I thought the pains were and was in denial it was labour Grin
So it sounds like it may be all starting for you! Yay! Grin

PictureThis · 29/07/2012 21:27

Sorry Warzone many congratulations on your new arrival.

Signet2012 · 29/07/2012 21:34

Hiya all. Congrats warzone!!

Well I had a consultant appointment yesterday and got a sneaky growth scan!

Poor baby looks like a trussled chicken with no room!

Was offered induction at 37 weeks but declined as I'm managing fine and had a little panic at the thought of being a mum in a week !! Consultant happy for me to wait until nature takes its course!

Nursery nearly finished, just hospital bag to sort. Massively overspent this pay day to finish odd jobs so going to be a very tight month Sad

Can't quite believe she could be here soon!!

fairtradelu · 29/07/2012 22:06

Congrats warzone and good luck ham - fingers crossed it's the start of a smooth and "easy" labour!

Tomorrow is the first day of my mat leave. My plan is to do nothing but watch the Olympics for next two weeks and then for LO to make an appearance the monday after the Olympics finishes. Can't be too much to ask, surely?!

Westcountrylovescheese · 29/07/2012 22:18

Picture, breathe in, breathe out... You are a saint not to have actually exploded at your DH. Give yourself a pat on the back. Is there anyone else who could have a 'word' with him? It sounds like you might not be able to have a conversation with him that he lives through without (deserved) broken bones! I am Angry for you!

geekette · 29/07/2012 22:26

Congrats WarZone!
Lovely name :)

Oh picture... maybe it just hasn't dawned on him yet that something needs doing or he is in denial of some sort?

Good luck and try to take it easy.

sounds like you are watching all your twinges :) I am tempted to say just chill. That little Bubba will be here soon!

Good night everyone.

geekette · 29/07/2012 22:28

Yes ishop! I am doing really well actually. Eating a lot if I am honest. :)

susiegrapevine · 29/07/2012 22:58

Congrats warzone!

picture you need to say something or write it down and say that you are sooo mad you might regret what you say so therefore you have written a letter. Else you might get inwardly depressed or kill him!

Omg another almost disater with my dad's business someones stupid user name on ebay actually managed to break his database that prints all the invoices! Luckily dh found the bug and fixed it. Good job he was there or I may have cried!! As I could have delt but not with baby brain etc!

Still wanting my baby in until parents get back from hols on sunday!

NeedlesCuties · 30/07/2012 07:07

Miggins I have zero chance to rest/sleep in the afternoons as DH works full-time and I have an active DS to run around after. DS gave up his daytime nap a few months ago and he really is on the go from 7am when he wakes to 7pm when he gets into bed. The closest thing I get to a rest during the day is 5 mins sat down with a cup of tea, and even that doesn't always happen. I remember having daytime naps when I was pregnant with DS :) Bliss!

picture is your DH self-employed and worried about money? This isn't your first baby, so you'd think he'd be a bit more clued in about things needing done and how you might feel. That's not nice for you :(

Have another community midwife appt today, woohoo! Going to moan to her about my swollen hands and feet, cervix pain etc. Looking forward to hearing the LO's heartbeat again. My last appt at 34 weeks had me measuring 38 weeks... am now almost 37 weeks so am curious to know what I'm measuring now...

(36+3)

hamncheese · 30/07/2012 07:45

Yep geek I am just taking it easy, acting as if nothing is going on.

Woke up a few times in the night to really really sore back and heavy period pains in front that lasted several minutes and did the whole build up then recede type thing. Got up and moved into different positions while one was happening thinking it could just be the way I was lying but it didn't go when I did Hmm. They are so few and far between I don't know what to think, assuming at the moment they are just preps but told DH to keep him phone on him incase. Still sort of achey on front now and back is vaguely sore too. Who knows!!

I'd be so Angry at your DH picture! Sorry he is being so rubbish. I think you have every right to get as angry as you like with him.

Hope you measure well needles and have a good appointment generally.

Oh well off to the doctors about this ridiculous jaw scenario. Fully expecting any treatment to be inconsistent with pregnancy but hey ho! Maybe the walk to the hospital will bring some more clarity to these pains.

capecath · 30/07/2012 08:13

ham those back pains you describe do sound like what I experienced at the beginning of labour! Except they were more consistent and closer together.. but keep an eye on them, perhaps take a note of when they're occurring, how long they last for and see if any pattern. Hope you get your jaw sorted!

Another awful, uncomfortable night last night :( Bump seems to have gone hard? Getting loads of BH this weekend but not particularly painful and thinking not consistent enough to be real.

needles feel for you not getting in your rest during the day! My 23mo DS is still having his nap after lunch and I am taking in full advantage :D Trying to appreciate these nice, quiet lunchtimes as much as possible now while they last!!

warzone huge congrats and well done!!!

P.S. Feeling Olympic addiction coming on hmm...

NeedlesCuties · 30/07/2012 09:15

capcath my DS got chickenpox when he was 25 months old and ever since then he just WILL NOT nap during day anymore! Not sure if it's just his age (he's now 29 months old) or cuz of the chickenpox upsetting him. Either way, it's a blessing and a curse. Bad because it means no break for me during the day, but good because he goes to bed an hour earlier at night :)

PictureThis · 30/07/2012 09:16

So I woke up this morning and told DH that I expect him to go up to the loft tonight and get my bag down and if he didn't then I'd go up there myself and get it. This prompted the 'you can't, you're heavily pregnant'. Exactly....which is why I need my sodding hospital bag down. He's promised faithfully to do it tonight, we'll see. He is self employed Needles and is putting in 60+ hour weeks now so that he can afford to take time off when baby arrives. He's not short of work either but he's a bit of a workaholic who needs to reassess his priorities me thinks. I think he anticipates sitting in the house for a week feeling like a spare part but the reality is DD is going to need lots of time spent on her which he can do. If I go overdue with this baby and DD is back at school then he can do the school run and work in between if he really has to. We need to have a chat about this but I don't have the energy for pointing out the obvious to him at the moment.

I've got another growth scan tomorrow, please don't let this boy have grown to gargantuan proportions. DD was 8lbs when she was born and I felt every ounce of her coming out. I think we're looking at a 9lb er this time which isn't filling me with joy. Oh well as long as he's healthy and is born safely that's all that matters. ham hopefully these pains are doing something. Your cervix could be effacing in preparation for labour, fingers crossed.

Lovemarmite · 30/07/2012 09:47

Congratulations warzone! lovely name!
Wow, I remember chatting on the first thread and now wow, your LO has arrived - fantastic! Thanks

Ham On Friday I had terrible backache, couldn't breathe and period pains all day, DH came back from London to have me on my ball, crawling on all fours and we both wondered if it was time or coming up very soon. Managed to sleep and then Saturday felt much better and then yesterday, my bump was really hard and felt like LO was going to fall out anytime and then today, the same, some more period pains, a few back twinges, hard bump maybe more BH and waves of LO feeling like she's going to fall out. Can't even sit on the toilet at the moment as can't sit forward, not sure that is quite normal but feeling like a weeble!
I think we're due on the same day? (11th August) and so let us know how you're doing x

picture sorry to hear about DH crapiness. I think men are wired differently!
My DH is a complete workaholic and I know he needs his own space to do things separately at times, I've sometimes found it hard but I now kind of encourage him to do what he can to relax away from me and work. He's got into cycling again and I know it's helped him be less stressed away from work. However we're expecting our first and so very different if we had another LO to care for and when this one comes, things will change! I know every relationship is different and so not offering any advice at all but hope it's all fine asap. Men!

So today - finishing bag packing by ironing tiny clothes and dressing gown plus had to order another pair of maternity pjs as they're a life saver in bed and so need another pair - daft as less than 2 weeks to go before due but figured I'll wear them afterwards too. Next is all the energy drinks etc to get.

Hope everyone has a lovely Monday

The3Bears · 30/07/2012 10:22

Congratulations warzone what a lovely name you've chosen :) Hope your both well Thanks

mrsmiggins glad your nursery is almost done, now you can relax :)

picture I would be v angry too is my dp was like that, men?! they're v odd. Hopefully you'll get to talk soon and tell him how your feeling about it all and im hoping he will get your hospital bag down tonight :)

ham Sounds promising Grin

Im with you capecath Just having uncomfortable nights atm and my bump goes hard alot! plenty of BH's but I know they're just practice ones so not getting hopes up :)

Not really sure what to do today having a bit of a lazy morning with ds as he's on school holidays now but the weather is terrible so think we may bake some fudge cake and watch a film, yum :) Hope everyone is well

hamncheese · 30/07/2012 10:29

Glad to hear you are having what seems exactly what I'm having marmite due date buddy :) I've walked to the doc and back and felt nothing. Now a bit more period pains but no back ache... all these seemingly false alarms, hoping like picture says it's all good preps and signs it will occur. Asked my mum who was induced with my bro 12 days over (csec with me) about it and she never had any of this stuff so hoping it's a sign I will go naturally at some point.

Agree that men are wired differently too. I always forget that DH needs told things explicitly. Like with the suitcase thing picture like they know two pieces of information (you wanting the suitcase down, you being too pregnant to climb into a loft) but can't put them together to a logical conclusion unless you state it really obviously. I always think I am going to sound patronising to DH saying things I need done but in the end it turns out it's just what he needs, as he didn't think of it the same way IYSWIM.

I'm going to go paint our close a bit to spruce up. Nesting like a fiend to take my mind off of all the "is this is?" feelings!

ffscatmove · 30/07/2012 10:58

Oooh I can't keep up with all the activity!
Congrats warzone, ishop & all the other new mummies Grin Thanks
Have got really tired the last few days - have been trying to keep active to get LO shifting but finding it hard now. Planning a walk today & maybe strawberry picking, then can make jam tomorrow Smile. If don't try for a nap in the afternoons I can't summon the energy to make dinner!
ham sounds like things are beginning to get going for you, good luck (am v. Envy)
Avoided ECV last week, LO turned out to just e very low & difficult to palpate. Was only 2/5ths palpable at last weeks' GP appt - is this engaged?
Hope everyone enjoying the lat of the sunshine now it's cooled down a bit!

PictureThis · 30/07/2012 13:19

2/5ths palpable is deeply engaged, great news.

Westcountrylovescheese · 30/07/2012 13:26

Ah but I've been 3/5ths engaged aka 2/5ths palpable for the last 4/5 weeks so don't get too excited. Just means you pee more often (with less results) and walk like John Wayne (after a long journey). They also lie when they say the kicks get less painful, my LO has just taken the opportunity of having more space to get more power behind his knees...

Can you tell I'm a bit 'over' the whole being heavily pregnant bit? 38+6 today. Slept well so am more cheery than yesterday! Wink

Vinolover · 30/07/2012 13:40

picture I would be furious too! Your dd is going to need some extra attention which you won't be able to do yourself whilst trying to recover and settle into newborn life again.
My dh has informed me he will be working on our extension whilst he's not working and when I said to him "don't expect me to feed and tea you all day" to which he replied "well I'm sure you'll be getting yourself something to eat and a cup of tea, you won't be sat on your backside all day!" Nothing like a doting husband eh!?!?!

Ham your symptoms sound really promising! I am super duper jealous! You're due the same day as me too so I do think it would be very unfair for you to have your baby without me Wink.
