Aw thanks bears I can't tell if everyone feels the same and I'm just a big moaner or if it really is more crap for me. Probably the former Blush How are you feeling in this pregnancy compared to previous? I'm afraid (at the moment) I can't actually imagine doing this again. No doubt I will as would like 2 but there will be major use of contraception after this one comes, I will need a good few years of being normal before I could consider it again ha!!

I'm getting those sharp cervix pains a lot vino and needles I think they keep tricking me into false hope of labour. Seems to be when baby is moving so maybe when their head is pushing down or something? Also when I'm walking they happen a lot, is bloody sore sometimes makes DH think I'm starting something.

Hope you feel better tomorrow needles do you feel like the hormones have ramped up again recently? I spend half my day with eyes leaking if something pleases me. Example: DH brings me water with lots of ice in it. Seriously!

DH has put me on kind of bedrest this evening. Went to merchant city festival in town and walked a lot and then came home and had a nap with warm socks on and then my feet totally puffed up which was worrying. Massage, cold foot bath and elevation later they look a bit more normal but worrying. Plus just after I ate my dinner baby decided it'd be fun to restrict the room for my stomach now feels like it's sitting in my throat bleughh! I'm totally thirsty but can't drink much as there is no room. Really going to have to be more strict about eating little and often.

The3Bears · 28/07/2012 21:24

Yes to the sharp pains in cervix vino had them alot today and am aching alot low down so im guessing LO's head is going lower maybe Confused have a mw appt on Wednesday so will find out then. Felt terrible all day have had the worst headache and snuffy nose (hayfever I think) going to go bed soon just watching Dinosaurs with ds as dp is working all I want to do is sleep atm :(

My waters never went with ds1 so not really expecting them to this time but I did have a show straight away.

ham No, I think you have had more crap to deal with in your pregnancy. I hope you have an easier labour after dealing with all of it Grin This pregnancy has been fine so far much easier than first but Im not sure if thats because Im just getting on with things and not worrying about every pain etc. With my 1st I was in hospital at 26 weeks with bad pains and nearly every week from 36 weeks as I had high blood pressure, this time i've hardly seen mw and only been hospital for the scan to check LO's position. I have felt alot more sick in this pregnancy but overall it's been great, I can't complain. Im sure in a few more years you will go through it all again as the end result is so worth it and you'll forget everything you went through for your LO.
I think were all abit fed up now arent we? The end is so near but it really does drag as we're counting down the days now :) really need to keep busy and distracted but it's so hard when your so uncomfortable.

Off to bed now, hopefully i'll have a good sleep and feel alot better in the morning :) Hope everyone else does too

forgetfulmrs · 28/07/2012 21:31

Congrats ishop I hope you've had some rest and are enjoying your teenie baby.

ham we all get fed up when our bodies start misbehaving. Your jaw problem must have been awful! I think the worst thing is being so out of control of your own body. But honestly, you forget all about it once LO arrives.

I'm not suprised you don't want to go overdue needles my DS weighed 9lb 11oz when he was born at 42 weeks. So I am desperate for this one to be on time or even early so hopefully she'll be a little smaller?

You must have been chuffed that baby is head down 3bears its good to know that everything is where it should be. I panic before every midwife appointment that she's going to tell me the baby has turned.

good luck warzone if you're still working on delivering your baby I hope its not too much longer for you!

vino I get those same pains as well as back ache period type pains and a tight tummy. Can be quite alarming when it happens when out in public!

Wow this seems like a massive post, I've had a nice day today. Some of my friends came over, they've bought me a Karime sling! very cool. And mum did some gardening. Hope everyone gets the best sleep they've had in ages tonight!! x

therumoursaretrue · 28/07/2012 21:34

I haven't been on here in so so long, what have I missed!? I'll have to get a bug catch up read now.

Congratulations ishop Grin, lovely name! Oh have I missed anymore new arrivals!?

Just sitting down to enjoy my first evening of maternity leave. Officially did my last day of work, yay! Mind you last week I thought I'd finished and ended up taking more jobs after all.

Hope your all having a nice evening.

eightieshopaholic · 28/07/2012 21:38

Congratulations Ishop love the name

Warzone hope all going well!!

Vino I have had these pains to, they take me by surprise but go as quick as come!!

I need some advice please!!! I am 38 wks tom have a consultant apt wed as my crohns/colitis was playing up and was told if still bad next week then they would look to induce at 39 weeks. I am feeling much better and if I say this then they won't induce and will let me go up to 10 days over baby was 7.5ibs at last scan at 36 wks so he will be a chunk so do I say im better and let me possibly go over with a big baby or tell a white lie and get induced???

My little brother is here till 12th Aug lives in LA so would love baby to come while he's here HELP!!!!

NeedlesCuties · 29/07/2012 08:12

eighties I would take the induction at 39 weeks. I don't know anything about crohns or colitis, but I'm just thinking from the POV that at 39 weeks the baby is full term.

I went into spontaneous labour with my 1st baby at 39 weeks and he weighed 8lb 6oz.

However, it's hard to make the guess and you don't know when you will go into labour. If you refuse the induction that is okay, there's nothing to say you will go overdue by 10 days, you might have the baby bang on time! But if you took the induction then you'd know when he/she will be arriving and be able to sort things out for that.

All the best, whatever you choose to do.

hamncheese · 29/07/2012 08:35

Yep bears Definately feeling fed up! I think it'd be okay if you knew your due date was THE date, it's the thought of reaching the finishing line of a marathon and having another 5k to do that's killer!!

eighties that's a tough one! I get the feeling if someone offered me an induction now it'd be incredibly hard not to just take it despite the fact I am really not wanting any form of intervention if possible. I wouldn't blame you either way so I guess do what you think will give you the most comfortable and safe birth for your LO?

For all with horrendous cankles, yesterday mine were AWFUL (as I posted on the fb page) with a sock mark 1cm deep! Finally found something that helped though, DH massaged my feet and legs up to the knee. He imagined there was all this water under the skin and was gently pushing it up past my knee and they immediatley looked better, the right colour a bit less fat and this morning are improved. Also I don't know if this is related but he did it before bed and I was peeing ALL NIGHT LONG and in great quantities. Reading online from some women post-birth they talk of excessive peeing in the week after baby due to losing the retained water so this makes me think perhaps his massage got rid of some! Can't hurt to try anyway and mmmmm foot massage :)

Vinolover · 29/07/2012 10:01

eighties I would bite their hand off if I were to be offered an induction for 39 weeks! It's personal choice though and what you feel comfortable with.

Ham i'm pleased you managed to get rid of some of the water. I would say the foot massage definitely helped and you should be having them on a daily basis Wink.

My cervix pain I had the other day has vanished now so it must have had something to do with having sex. Just when I think something is working, it bloody stops again! I so desperately don't want to go over my due date like I did both times before but I can't help thinking I will. I had so many pains on friday and yesterday had absolutely nothing! Our bodies can be quite cruel in tricking us sometimes.

Think I will go for another power walk today and try and get this baby lower! Although, people keep telling me I've dropped so fingers crossed he's listened to my pleads and engaged his head. There is certainly some grinding going on in my pelvis!

susiegrapevine · 29/07/2012 10:09

eighties what will they do if the induction fails? My friend who has crohns and colitis had an induction early as they did not want her going into natural labour without medical supoervision. It did not work so she ended up with a c-section probably not what you want. Funny thing is they wanted to avoid the section this time so as not to irritate her condition??. All seemed pointless in the end!
I say go for induction if you are fed up but only if it does not mean a c-section if it fails cos yoy don't want that!

Getting sharp cervix pain here too. Just thought it was baby jabbing me down there. Did not get it with my 1st.

ham I found this pregnancy much harder my 1st was a breeze and this one would be compared to most people I'm sure. For instance I can still paint my own toenails as I don't get very big tho am bigger that I was with my 1st.

My hormones seem crazy at the moment I just seem to keep getting overly angry at everything rather than teary was like this as a teenager tho seems weird now. Keep wanting to punch people!

Whiteangel · 29/07/2012 10:18

Morning all. Friends coming over this morning so we can show off our (very nearly) finished kitchen, then we are going to check out the local swings. I've warned them it will have to be a rather slow waddle! Felt really rubbish yesterday evening and then lay awake a lot during the night. This morning I feel on the verge of tears but think that if I start I may never stop! Can someone tell me that crazy hormones mean I'll go into labour within the next four days please?
Ham I agree completely with your marathon analogy. Think I may sit down on the finish line and refuse to get up again though!
Right need to put my smiley face and support bandage on ready for guests. Have a good day xx

Gnomi · 29/07/2012 12:23

Congratulations ishop, fantastic name!

Hope all is going well, warzone.

I'm with you on the crazy hormones Whiteangel, I can swing from laughing hysterically to being ridiculously upset in about 20 seconds.

Some of my friends threw me a beautiful baby shower yesterday. I really hadn't planned on having one as we've already been given so much stuff, but one of my best friends is South African and they are very big on baby showers there. She did this amazing afternoon tea, and they all had to guess the size of the bump by measuring out lengths of string. Everyone measured off way too much string!

Our kitchen is nowhere near finished, despite the builder promising it will be done before the baby comes. I'm so worried about the house still being a building site - the nursery is full of boxes of saucepans and there's plaster dust everywhere. To appease me, DH has started wallpapering the dining room, but I don't think it's helping me feel any better. The most infuriating thing is that the builders seem to do an average of 2 days work a week - if they actually turned up everyday, I'm sure it would be finished next week.

So it's a time of waiting and waiting - for the builders and the baby. I'm not liking this whole not-being-in-control thing at all! Oh well, I'll just watch some more gymnastics and dream of being thin and able to touch my toes once again!

geekette · 29/07/2012 15:02

Yay! I can give an update woohoo! The little pleasures of life; )

First of all, congrats Ishop! And how are you warzone? Hope all OK!

I took a lot of books with me to the hospital so I am really busy here actually! sneaking in a phone charge is also a highlight of my day now ;) i even brought some work. And there are lots of other pregnant ladies with different complications popping in and out. I am currently the only one in for so long but it is great looking forward to the other babies! And the midwives are absolutely fabulous!

As for me, well the only sure thing is that I will have an elcs but the dates keep changing. Basically we don't know if we should go for 38 or 39 week date. Both have different complications. Personally I would have gone with week 40 but that thought seems to really put the consultants on edge :D they are almost certain my waters will go before then and my cord come first and worst case scenario needs to be dealt with.

I couldn't help but sneak a peak at my swollen body in the full length mirror today. It was so pretty! I could take a pic. I just might really. I wish I could be pregnant forever. I even have boobs. Sagging but full lovely ones. Hormones much? I think the main difference and the fed up team is my baby will never engage :( so I will never get to reach that stage of pressure down below which triggers the eviction thoughts. Oh well. Win some, lose some. I can't have it all.

Signing off now. Looking forward to the next babies. Have a good week everyone!

ishopthereforeiam · 29/07/2012 16:28

Hi all! Hope you're all ok? Lots going on it seems!

I saw a few posts about hormones and that certainly seemed to affect me more in the last week or so and even more after DS was born. Been an emotional rollercoaster the last 2 days and I'm def more teary than usual!

Geekette - hope you're doing ok?

Gnomi teh baby shower sounds like so much fun! I regret not doing anything for this one now but seemed a bit OTT As dd is only 18mo so hers wasn't that long ago!

Midwife at the hospital: Next time you have a baby wait at least 3 years!? Bit rude I thought (!) but not planning any more anyways!

warzonemummy · 29/07/2012 17:50

Avesta was born this morning at 720 through an emergency c section. The induction went really well. One passery worked and brought on labour. I was in labour for 8 hrs without pain relief and for to around 4 cm dilated. I then went on epidural and and another 12 hrs of labour but unfortunately the baby refused to come down and actually be born despite me being 10cm dilated. So the doctors decided to go for c section. It was an amazing experience despite the medical intervention. Avesta and I are both doing really well. She weighs 7 pounds and 11 ounces.

Westcountrylovescheese · 29/07/2012 17:53

Congratulations Warzone! What an adorable name! Sounds like quite a long birth, so glad you're both together at last!

How rude of the midwife ishop. What on earth made her say that???

woopsidaisy · 29/07/2012 19:16

I'm so pleased for you warzone. Have been lurking all day to find out how you got on. Lovely name!

hamncheese · 29/07/2012 19:29

Someone describe for me the kind of back pain they got in early labour please. Been getting back pain all day. Thought it was kidney pain as it was the same type of soreness I've had before in kidneys from infection achey but not totally muscular a little sharp. Anyway thought it was so upped water but its actually too low down for kidneys... they are under the ribs if I am correct and this is about a few inches up from my bum and all around my back. It's sort of lingering but gets worse for a bit and then goes again. I've been in the house all day mostly lounging about so may not just be weight of baby. Probably nothing but thought I would ask for what the pain is like from any who had it previously...

NeedlesCuties · 29/07/2012 19:55

ham sounds promising!

To be honest, through the mists of time when I had DS I remember that my early labour felt more like a growing series of pains in my belly, like period pains. The day before I actually went into labour I recall being out for lunch with my sister and just feeling 'wrong', IYKWIM, just not feeling 100%. I actually don't recall feeling pain in my back (not until I was in full-blown labour in hospital).

I'm hoping that someone will be along soon who has had a baby in the past and for whom the pain was in their back.

My tip is to keep a wee eye on the pain though, how long it's lasting and how often it comes. Maybe have a bath or a shower.

All the best
