Hope today goes well ishop cant wait to hear about your LO x

Hope your jaw feels better soon ham I honestly cannot remember what contractions were like but you just know when they're real ones believe me! I didnt have hardly any BH's with ds1 so was really worried that I wouldnt know when I was having a real one but when it happened it was v different.

needles I've been the same in the heat, got the worst headache ever yesterday at about 3pm had to go and lie down in a dark room with fan on me was horrible was going to go to hospital but an hour later it seemed to improve, I really dont think my hayfever is helping it all :(

marmite hope your LO stays put until your building works finished.

quickchat Hope the rest of your removal goes well today, try not to worry about your LO and do not blame yourself pregnancy does funny things to us all sorry you've had it so bad though x

well done to your ds forget you must be v pleased he's doing well with another LO arriving soon :) Ive not changed a nappy in over 3 years Shock ds was trained at just before 2 and a half so it's going to be v strange for me having to get nappies/wipes again and changing LO's bottom although im sure i'll remember how to Grin

susie I think we'd all be stressed out if our boiler had broke 3 times this year and being pregnant does make everything seem worse, rant away all you like :)

NeedlesCuties · 27/07/2012 09:16

3bears well done your DS on being ready for potty training so early! My DS is almost 2.5 years old and still only goes to the potty once a day, the rest of the time his warcry is "I need nappy!!!!" Will try again in earnest to train him once the new arrival is here.

woops ohh, all the best for heading to UHD. I was there recently to visit a sick relation and saw lots of women heading in with their green folders. The MIH do scans each visit, I have had one at 12, 20, 31 weeks and I'll be getting another one at 37 weeks :)

Gnomi · 27/07/2012 10:16

Congratulations ontheedge! Good luck for today ishop.

quickchat You can't blame yourself. Strange things happen during pregnancy, and I think our bodies have an amazing capacity to recover afterwards.

Ham Your jaw thing sounds awful, I really hope you get better soon. Is it pregnancy related?

Susie We've had to have our 2 year old boiler replaced as part of our kitchen re-fit. We paid £800 for it and it had never gone wrong, they just weren't able to move it to the new spot. It's so frustrating, you're perfectly welcome to rant all you like.

I might have overdone it a bit over the past few days - floor scrubbing, wallpaper stripping and painting have left me with some very odd twinges. I feel fine in the morning but by the time I get to bed I feel huge and heavy and every bit of me is swollen up. The baby can't come for a week - the kitchen won't be finished until then!

Can't wait to hear of more babies!

Westcountrylovescheese · 27/07/2012 11:36

Please please can someone turn the heat down... I am seriously over heating!

frillylemons · 27/07/2012 12:14

Congratulations ontheedge!! So exciting!

All the best for today ishop, we'll all be thinking of you!

Exciting times ahead, eh? Well, only 15 minutes and I will be finished work Confused It's all very odd!

Is anyone still working?

hamncheese · 27/07/2012 12:16

I'm with you on that west and it's not even that hot or sunny up here... can only imagine how crap it is for those in the south. My cankles can't take much more. Found out that apparently foot swelling in preg can result in you going up a shoe size and STAYING up a size forever... this CANNOT happen to me. I'm already a 6 and only 5ft2 if I have to wear a 7 I will be like a clown :(

Just heard that a woman my mum works with who was due 4 days before me had hers. Envy doesn't even begin to describe it... I feel like gollum getting closer to the ring/ring closer to the fire/other LOTR analogy that involves me sitting going I want my precioouuuusss like a maniac

Ahhh at least it is swimming friday tonight! I'm going to make some very squishy brownies I can try and funnel through the minuscule gap between my teeth!

capecath · 27/07/2012 12:28

Congrats ontheedge!! Wow, what a quick labour!! And adding my wishes to ishop for tomorrow.

ham and west contractions for me last time were like period pains that came and went, I could feel my bump tightening and loosening, but I didn't realise they were contractions - bleeding prompted me to go to hospital! So guess I am a little concerned about this time being different and not knowing... it took two days of contracting regularly, about every 10 mins, and only after 4cm dilated when I was induced that things got really painful. I suppose when it's really painful we'll know!! Also had intense lower back pain, ham was almost just above my waist at the back and around to the sides. DS was back to back initially then turned during labour and came out on side, at which point back pains had stopped.

quickchat you're absolutely not a failure, please don't think that. You are in good hands, your body will most likely recover fully, amazing really - I've never heard of any lasting repercussions after birth.

Getting some really intense cravings lately - MILK, YOGHURT, sugary things, peanut butter. Had to stop myself eating an entire Onken pot hmm.... Anyone else?

capecath · 27/07/2012 12:29

ishop meant TODAY - wow, exciting!!

Lovemarmite · 27/07/2012 13:10

ham hope your jaw gets better soon, but those brownies are a definite good idea!

Me too, can't go up a foot size either, I'm 5ft3 and size 6 too and I bought some fantastic boots that I saved up for just before getting pregnant and so no way to not being able to wear them. Also bought some ugg flip flops a month ago as a foot treat and now can't get into them! I read that the relaxin hormone can make you flat footed and so your feet spread hence the foot size change. I am trying to stay off them, raise them up and cold washes so far, but the cankles are winning!

frilly yes I'm working! But work from home and so can do it anytime I can. Although huge movements from LO today and at one point I felt like I had to go on all fours to get with the moves! That may have looked odd in an open office with others Smile
Only planning on taking a few weeks off afterwards too as my work is very process driven and it's like putting a kettle on, i.e. paying a bill, writing an invoice etc and there's not a huge amount to do. DH can help with both LO and the work as I do his books and so no biggy. Funny though, friends scoff at me when I say that I'll be working shortly afterwards but I guess freelance work is very different to going to an office as there's no travel and you don't have to dress up at all.
I am in awe of all you that have been going to an office, the commute etc, not sure how long I could have done that for.

capecath craving cool drinks and tea at the moment, sweets in the afternoon and things I can stuff in my mouth instantly! Cheese!

Just spoke to a friend who's babies were both 2 weeks early. Ah, that means tomorrow! Can't wait to meet her but just need one more week please LO!
Her movements recently have been so huge, getting maybe more BH, strong back pain and pelvic grinding, period like pain and my nipples are sore as hell. No moaning though Wink

Nightfall1983 · 27/07/2012 13:35

Good luck today ishop i think you said you were going in at one... which means you're there now!! V. exciting.

So yesterday was our first olympics "event", nothing thrilling just Football in coventry. It was very well organised and all the staff were lovely and everyone was jolly, so in many ways it gave me lots of confidence for the "proper" London one on Sunday, the only thing that gave me cause for concern was my feet! Having never suffered from swollen feet before, yesterday was pretty warm but not as warm as the previous day had been so was not expecting the incredible swelling. Might have been to do with doing a fair bit of walking too? By the time we got to our seats they were ridiculously swollen and so painful. All my toes were swollen so they wouldn't sit next to each other anymore and were sticking out at funny angles! They've gone back to normal this morning which is good, though I did wake up with a terrible cramp in my calf which I know is due to interupted blood-flow from swelling Sad. Trying to think what I can do different for Sunday...

Anyway 35+6 today, time is still dragging. I'm trying to mentally count down to 41 weeks instead of 40 as I'm expecting to be late and it still seems a LOOOONG way off... Sigh...

NeedlesCuties · 27/07/2012 14:20

nightfall why do you think you'll go late?

You're due the day after me and to be honest I'm counting down to 37 weeks then he/she is welcome to arrive Grin >pokes tummy hoping the baby is paying attention<

This is DC2 for me so I could be a bit more impatient... or just more grumpy with symptoms and wanting it all over. Had a lovely pregnancy with DS, this one has just been a PITA with being in hospital with hyperemesis, having Group B Strep and other sorenesses.

DS was born at exactly 39 weeks, weighing 8lb 6oz, which is another reason why I'm hesitant about the idea of going overdue with this one.

fairtradelu · 27/07/2012 14:36

Congrats ontheedge and thinking of you ishop

Wax report: I had a full leg and bikini wax today and it was completely fine. In fact, it hurt less than normal, so now I'm wondering if our genius bodies suppress pain during pregnancy. It makes me feel a little better about labour knowing body is doing all it can to make it as painless (wishing!) as poss. Baby felt fine throughout as well and it hasn't prompted the onset of labour thankfully - I'm only 35+3 so baby needs to stick around until 37 weeks so I can have a water birth!

It's my last day of "work" today too frilly, but as I work from home like marmite I have been winding down for a while now. I just need to print out about 20 invoices and it's no more translation for 3 months for me!

NeedlesCuties · 27/07/2012 15:19

fairtrade what do you translate? What language? I've always wanted to work as a translator... but my inability to speak another language goes against me somewhat Hmm I was trained in using British Sign Language for a job I did years ago, but cuz I haven't used it in so long I've pretty much forgotten :(

sc0ttishlass · 27/07/2012 15:30

hi all - quick check in (1.5 hour left at work and so much to do - will be working all weekend to ensure everything done properly but dont mind, as woudl rather leave it in a good state!) Feels SO weird finishing work - but loving the kindness and nice words from everyone :)

Ham - just a quick one - at our NHS class last night at the glasgow royal, she told us taht your contractions will be wherever you have period pains - so if in the back, the back - if your tummy - your tummy etc. she said also to deal wtih them much as period pains - baths, lie down - go for a walk etc (hot water bottles but not hot water, only warm water, as we are not allowed to put hot ones on them) - i didnt know that) - anyway - the way she said it is you will know as like period pains but stronger.

my clown feet are beyond a joke - i have been in flip flops for months and now the flip flops dig in and leave lines - such a horrid symptom that I cannot wait to see the back off. heartburn still here too but gaviscon does the trick - im findnig sleep ok as long as i stay up late enough adn am v. tired!

oh, ham - also - i had that jaw thing for 3 days - then just went - it actually made me cry (was just such a funny feeling adn probably because i was so sad about potential loss of food intake!!)

congratulations on the edge and v excited to hear about I-shop (and also.. who watered the neighbours plants today! hehe).

is everyone watching the opening ceremony tonight - i will be - looking forward to it :)

also going out to buy some newborn clothes as have only 1 sleepsuit and am panicking the 0-3 will be too big.. so confused about waht to do with the clothes stuff.

oh also, i am at a 2.5 hour breasfteeding class with NCT tomorrow - will report back if anything of interest!

lots of love!
xx
(36+4)

The3Bears · 27/07/2012 15:38

I am a v happy lady today, went to hospital this morning for scan to check if baby is breech midwife was pressing on tummy and it felt v uncomfortable and she was saying how it could be his head near my ribs etc so was abit upset thinking of the next choice. Anyway so dr comes in with small scanning device and LO is head down :) and also slightly engaged I think well he has put 4/5 on my notes. He is back to back though so thats why my ribs have been sore as he's been kicking them but this can change anytime so i have been grinning like a cheshire cat ever since Grin
Im just so happy that I can go into labour anytime and yes I could be late but it's just the excitment of it all that im looking forward to as this is my last baby and I can have a nice water birth so now trying everything to evict baby Grin Just celebrating with yummy m&s cookies now Blush
needles I know ds did v well with potty training I was expecting it to be really difficult but he did great, I think they just do it when they're ready and if they dont get the hang of it relax and try again a month later or something we let ds go out and choose some big boy underpants with his favourite 'thomas the tank engine' on them and this definitely helped :) im sure your ds will be fully potty trained in no time sounds like he's doing so well anyway with starting to use it :)
ham Hope you enjoy your brownies and swimming! Had to laugh at you likeness to gollum, your LO will soon be here we dont have long left anyway now Grin
Well I think my night has already been arranged ds wants to watch 'The Lorax' was going to go next week but I think I might be too uncomfortable then at near enough 39 weeks so tonight would be best. It's cooled down slightly here now so should be nice in cinemas and I can munch on popcorn Grin Hope everyone has a lovely evening is everyone watching the olympics? dp's going to record it so we can watch it after cinemas I think :)

fairtradelu · 27/07/2012 15:53

Hi needles, I translate from German into English. I kind of fell into it as a job but it has worked out really well. I studied German at uni and then did an MA in Germany and whilst I was there started translating on the side and it just kind of grew from there. Luckily there aren't many Brits who can speak German so there is a fair amount of work about. Even more so over the next few months as I won't be doing any - hurrah!

Great news bears. My LO was head down at last app but has been wriggling about so much since I wouldn't be surprised if its in completely the wrong position again. Hopefully it'll sort itself by my next midwife app on Mon. Also, do let us know what the film is like - I'm planning on lots of cinema trips over next few weeks to pass the time somewhere cold!

Have a great weekend everyone!

ChicBabyP · 27/07/2012 19:06

Congratulation ontheedge, what a quick labour, I hope we all have one like that!

ishop I hope it all went well and you are enjoying some cuddles right now, without too much family around (also wondering who is watering the plants!)

The jaw thing sounds dreadful ham, I hope you manage to eat those lovely brownies...
Great news 3bears about LO having turned.

I'm definitely on a mission to evict the baby!! not sure what to do though, been having the RLT, walking, up and down the stairs and still nothing Hmm. Am almost 39weeks and if nothing happens by my due date, it's a c-section for me Sad so any tips to get this baby moving are welcome!

HAve a lovely weekend all and enjoy the Olympics!

warzonemummy · 27/07/2012 19:07

Ladies, haven't read the thread tidy much. Just came to let you all know that waters broke a couple of days ago and they haveasked me to come for an induction at 7 tonight. Hope it is a quick one.

Whiteangel · 27/07/2012 19:34

Ooh, thinking of you warzone! Our first Olympic babies are now arriving!

susiegrapevine · 27/07/2012 19:40

west am with you on the heat thing was sweltering in my dad's office today. Yes have finished proper work but am still running his business for him. Had to do some website maintainace today which was unexpected and took ages so got dh to pick up kfc on the way home as no time or energy to do dinner!

ham don't worry too much about the foot thing my mum is 5ft 2 and has always been a size 7! My sisters are both 5ft 5 and one is a size 8 and the other is a 9!! Think i am the only female with normal sized feet in my family!

susiegrapevine · 27/07/2012 19:42

Oh yeah forgot to say boiler is fixed and only cost me the callout charge of 25 quid so am feeling much more relaxed now! Though have been warned it may need replacing soon as is 10 to 12 yrs old!

susiegrapevine · 27/07/2012 19:43

Oh yeah and good luck warzone and ishop!

Westcountrylovescheese · 27/07/2012 19:48

Good luck Warzone! Opening of the Olympics tonight is bringing the babies on...!
