That's weird frilly. Maybe baby's dropped down a bit into your pelvis and is pressing on a nerve?

Westcountrylovescheese · 25/07/2012 22:00

Frilly not sure what that is, is your LO engaged yet? Maybe it could be the start of that...

Shoes wise I am in Birkenstocks and have been for a couple of weeks! No chance on getting any other shoes on!

Saw my midwife today and my blood pressure was slightly higher but not enough to be worried. Have to go back next week to get it checked out again. My midwife confirmed that 3/5ths on my notes means 3/5ths engaged (it actually says Engaged in the column) and that is where I still am.

Need less heat!

Good luck Geekette in hospital, hope it's all going well.

Ishop are you going into hospital tomorrow or Friday? Good luck!

tashaw28 · 25/07/2012 22:03

By the way, is anyone donating their cord and stem cells for research? I did it both times previously and just did it again for this one. I have a friend with MS and stem cells have really furthered the research into it!

ishopthereforeiam · 25/07/2012 22:10

geekette hope you're feeling ok? Sounds like your baby could be next! How exciting!

frilly - sounds like the baby has dropped. I remember with dd suddenly the bump being a lot lower down and having space under my chest and ribs again.

poppy and west thanks - need to take the meds at home tomorrow eve and then no food from midnight tomorrow and into hospital on Friday - waiting to find out what time.

Feeling all confused as plans re Friday (birth of dstobe) keep changing Hmm. PILs were meant to be looking after dd (pick up from nursery, give her dinner and put her to bed) and my folks were coming to the hospital with us as last time PILs were at hospital (MIL opening the door while they were in emergency situation trying to get dd out as she wanted to know if it was a boy / girl Angry... so this time thought would let them be busy with dd so hospital experience is slightly less stressful. Only now, DH suggested PIL come to hospital as they pass it anyway on way to pick up dd and collect our housekeys. Previous plan was SIL gives the PIL house keys. If PIL are at the hospital there's no way I can say don't come andsee your new grandchild, but didn't really want a crowd of visitors straight after the c/s.... help please!? Sad Also had clearly explained to my parents that they would be at the hospital this time as PIL were there last time and PIL would be busy looking after dd, not sure how mine will react if PIL rock up and seem to have best of both worlds...

Congrats Loupee hope you are home soon

Thanks for the info on femme pads picture I had stitches with DS and were painful for quite a while.

good luck geekette hope being in hospital isnt too boring.

I loved the new batman film, made me cry though! Not sure if it was just the hormones.

Had consultant appointment today, measuring 2cm over and walking like John Wayne. I'm sure all the other expectant mums were giving me concerned looks Blush so they've offered me a sweep at 40+2 which is 5 days earlier than they usually would. Will be doing all I can to bring labour on sooner though.

MrsMigginslovespies · 25/07/2012 23:08

Gosh, Ishop what a diplomatic incident. Have you mentioned how you feel to DH? Perhaps he's not realised about having a crowd there afterwards? Eek, families are tricky aren't they?

Hope you'r efeeling ok Frilly. Thinking of you!

Batman was good, but I didn't help myself by thinking dinner dinner dinner dinner BATMAN by the end! It's not that sort of film at all Grin.

Had a wee cry earlier, as I was putting up the mobile over the cot and played the lullaby and got very overwhelmed!

Had a v late supper and now wide awake. Agh. Ankles ENORMOUS tonight and am a bit tender down below oddly. TMI, sorry!

Night night all hope you sleep well. x

Loupee · 26/07/2012 00:00

Thanks for all your kind words, they have just cheered me up as we are still in hospital. Aaron John has a bit of jaundice, so has been under a therapy light most of the day, also I still have my catheter in, although part of me thinks it just cos no one has bothered with it, same with the cannula in my hand.
Have just ordered those freezer pads from amazon, hope they don't take too long to come, sounds like just the ticket for when I'm home.
Couple of random things heard during my labour/birth "the reason the epidural hasn't worked is because you are too tall" and "that is one good sized placenta"
And on the most shallow of notes, I got through my pregnancy with no stretch marks, don't mean to boast, just the little things are making me happy.
bears glad your kitten is back safely, how sad is it I'm missing my 2 cats a bit just now.
susie the day before I went into labour I was so angry at things that normally wouldn't bother me, pure hormones!
Hope you all have a good sleep tonight, will try and post a pic on the FB group.

geekette · 26/07/2012 02:32

Thanks for all the good wishes girls! It helps so much! It helps me not feel so lonely. Not yet found out csect date. Will update hopefully. The midwives are great. My community one even came to see me! Made me well up.

Loupee: the reason the epidural hasn't worked is because you are too tall Hmm err right... I hope you are almost 7 foot tall then...

The placenta comment does sound a bit cute. :)

Ishop: oh dear... sounds like DH didn't really understand your POV. Back to the negotiating table?

Too scary thinking I could be one of the next ones... I was supposed to be one of the last to pop!

ImissMiniPop · 26/07/2012 02:43

Good luck geekette thinking of you, as I know what it's like being stuc in hospital, even though it's the best place.

Whereabouts are you? Do you have lots of visitors organised?

geekette · 26/07/2012 04:33

Have absolutely no visitors organised as most of my friends are working and family is far away (and unfortunately more useful that way. My dad for example is convinced I am old and that is why my pregnancy has complications Confused)

I just need dh to call me up once in a while to cheer me up. At least that seems to work for now.

Loupee · 26/07/2012 07:40

Aww geekette, I hope the next couple of weeks go in quick for you. Can't believe they don't let you charge devices. 'only' 6 foot tall, so not too far outside the parameters of normal!

hamncheese · 26/07/2012 07:43

Seriously ishop she opened the door uninvited while you were giving birth?!?! I'd tell DH to say no visiting until you say so. Either that or you can ask the MWs to say no visitors after, espcially seeing as you are having an operation! You could also just tell in laws there is a restriction on numbers after section or something, blame a made up hospital policy to spare feelings??

Glad you and Aaron are doing well loupee hopefully you will be home soon. You must be very proud of your placenta hehe!

Sorry you've got no visitors geek :( that's not fair you don't get charging time either without sneaking it. Hospitals are crazy.

Going out for lunch with 4 other NCT girls today so it'll be the five of us all waddling along on cankles, massive bumps haha what a sight!

We have one of those grobag egg things that glows a colour to indicate room temp and its always on orange at the moment which means warm but not too hot, and yellow if I keep the window open which is ideal temp. However woke up last night and it was glowing red which means too hot for baby and I freaked like... if I open the window at night that's noise and fumes and I already had the fan on ALL NIGHT so how am I going to keep the baby cool when it comes??? and as you will see from the weather forecast our temps haven't even been that high compared to England, what if there is a heat wave? Don't know if I'm over-reacting but what am I mean to do, put bags of ice around the cot??! :( stupid city centre

ontheedgeofwhatever · 26/07/2012 08:19

Exhausted. Baby boy name undecided. Born 1am exactly. Labour 2 hours 15 minutes from waters breaking. Very very happy. He nearly came in the lift !

The3Bears · 26/07/2012 08:27

Thanks for all the cat love :) my cat didnt leave my side all day and has supervised visits to the back garden from now on Grin Im just so glad he's not injured as he was in a tree near the railway line and the kind people that got him down saw a few foxes around there so the poor thing must have been petrified.

ham We have on of the grobag egg things atm it's still in ds's room as he loves it, When it's too hot the main thing is to take layers of baby so first take blanket then baby gro etc. The temperatures tell you how many layers you need on baby e.g when it's blue add another blanket so dont worry too much when ds was a baby and it was v warm he would sleep in just a baby vest and a thin cotton sheet, you will know when they are to hot anyway, feel the nape of their neck though not hands and feet and if they're v hot and sweaty then remove something :) Hope you have a lovely lunch today.

geek Really hope your okay and can have some visitors soon you must be so fed up :( x

Sounds like a right pain to have to deal with this just before cs ishop hope you manage to sort it with dh today :) families are so annoying at times.

Had the worst night sleep last night kept getting really strong BH's all night and felt really uncomfortable, was getting abit excited when I kept feeling them but they werent getting any stronger and now seem to have stopped although babies movements feel funny this morning so maybe he's in the right position (fingers crossed) got lots to do today as new dining room furniture is being delivered so lots of cleaning and sorting which I am loving in my nesting phase :) and then scan tomorrow morning to see baby again.

Hope everyone has a nice day today and enjoys the sunshine!

The3Bears · 26/07/2012 08:29

OMG ontheedge what a quick labour, congratulations on your baby boy Grin hope you get lots of rest and snuggles today x

PictureThis · 26/07/2012 08:32

Well done Ontheedge, fantastic. Congratulations on your boy, how heavy was he?

NeedlesCuties · 26/07/2012 08:33

Congrats, Edge, that's exciting that another LO has been born :)

ham I was a bit paranoid like that when DS was a newborn - he was born in Feb, but as the summer approached and he was still sleeping in our room I used to fret. I didn't have that GroEgg thing you have, just a normal thermometer and I used to use the light from my mobile phone to check the temperature when I woke up to bf him. 2.5 years later he's still alive despite living through warm summers and cold NI winters.

Think when it gets warm the best thing to do is just to keep the blankets off them, let them sleep in just their vest, nappy, light blanket if you want.

The heat can make them unsettled and need more fluid during the night, so prepare yourself for lots of bf (if that's what you're planning to do), but then newborns often wake up lots during night for milk and cuddles :)

You and your DC will be fine!

ontheedgeofwhatever · 26/07/2012 08:34

Sorry 7 pound 10

Lovemarmite · 26/07/2012 08:48

Congratulations onetheedge Thanks
Wow so fast, amazing!

Hope your little one is out from under the lamp asap and in your arms Loupee

Lovemarmite · 26/07/2012 08:52

Had a bit of a weird time in the night, I had what only could be described as powerful stitches on my right hand side when I laid down. It came every ten minutes and lasted for about 30 seconds and then my bump started to get very tight as well.
Got up and googled and was none the wiser if these were contractions or not? Confused.
Maybe something I ate had bloated me?
But was a bit alarmed as these were strong and felt like something was going on (I did feel her feet protruding at one time, but it was too strong to be her having a kick). This morning, I feel okay although tired as it kept me up for a few hours.
Any ideas please.

panpipe · 26/07/2012 08:57

Congratulations ontheedge!

Ham our grobag egg was red all night last night in our room - 28C when we went to bed and 'cooled' to 25 and a bit by this morning. LO might have to sleep in just a vest. It is worrying but DH made a good point saying how do babies in Africa survive?!

I'm panicking everyone as I'll be driving 200 miles back to my parents to pick up our car seat later. I feel fine to do it, will stop on the way and take my notes and hospital bag but mum and MIL are convinced that I'm going to go into strong established labour immediately on the M4!

ishopthereforeiam · 26/07/2012 09:25

Love morning - sounds like contractions to me. The only way I can describe them from before is like it started as a tummy cramps and then magnified to a very painful period pain type cramp. Sometimes contractions can come and go over days so I think the hospitals usually say to wait til they're every 2-3 mins?

ham those grobags sound very useful, might invest in one! And yes - when I was in the pushing stage (dd got stuck on her way out) and millions of dr's and nurses (ok maybe up to 10 not millions) were rushing into the room she opened the door. Luckily there were curtains around the door but I heard it open and had my legs strapped up akimbo and was not wanting tourists!! After that as all ogt quite serious with the labour all I was worried about was if the door was open and kept saying to the docs there;s someone coming in they wer elike no PUSH PUSH PUSH lol!

Geekette don't feel too lonely, we're all here for you Thanks

ontheedge sounds like an amazing labour, well done you! So exciting can't believe how quickly the babies seem to be coming now. This is well deserved for you Wine cheers!

Aww mrsm it's all very overhwhelming isn't it? Just to see the little bed and think soon there'll be a little baby in there.

hamncheese · 26/07/2012 09:33

Wow congratulations ontheedge looking forward to the whole story when you are settled! You have a baby and hopefully no more itchy! Grin

Thanks bears and needles and pan I think I was a bit delirious from the heat myself getting all worried because I was sitting here this morning thinking about equatorial babies and how dense I am hahaha

On another interesting note I can't open my mouth more than half way today Angry sometimes get that jaw thing where I grind my teeth (probably linked to the groegg issue!) at night and my jaw is all messed up. Anyway couldn't finish my doughnut it was so sore NOT AMUSED!! Liquid lunch for me and not even the good kind at that!

ishopthereforeiam · 26/07/2012 09:33

ps - amusing anecdote...

YESTERDAY
Neighbour: Morning, we're on holiday from Thurs can you water our plants?

Me: Yes, we'll try but we're in hospital on Friday to have the baby so may not be able to for a couple of days, but we'll try.

........

THIS MORNING

Me: Morning - all set for your holiday?

Neighbour: Yes - we go tonight.

Me: Oh where are you off to?

Neighbour: Belgium and France

Me: Lovely, should be nice and hot! Have fun. I'm getting the lift (one floor - about 5 stairs!) as I'm lazy.

Neighbour: Ok. I'll come.

In lift:

Neighbour: Please can you remember to water my plants.

Me: Yes - We'll try - but we're in hospital tomorrow to have the baby, so not sure how long we'll be in for.

Neighbour: Ok, 'cos I set up a hose and bucket but don't know if it will work.

Me: Yes, we'll try.

Neighbour: Ok, good luck.

Am I weird to find his plant obsession a little OTT when I already said I'll be away in hospital to have the baby!?

Anyhoo - off for a bikini wax (ouch) and to get my highlights done now. Have a good day all...
