P.S. Previous birth story - bleeding and cramps at 33+3 weeks. Thought was polyp again after bleeding at 28 weeks, so casually packed hospital bag and headed in. Didn't realise those cramps were actually contractions! After two days of major bleeding and contracting (not a polyp, rather an abruption), decision was taken to break my waters and induce me, due to concerns about loss of blood. Baby was never in distress at any point though and I was closely monitored. After the drip went in, contractions came on hard and fast and DS was born 4 hours later at 33+5, a healthy 5lb2.

So now I am feeling like I have no idea what to expect this time round!! Such a different experience. Hoping for a peaceful waterbirth in birthing centre :) Although iron levels now even lower so not sure that is going to happen...

The3Bears · 24/07/2012 13:04

mrsmiggins Havent lost toe nails but was painting them on Sunday (god knows how with this bump) and took old polish off there is identical bruises on both my big toenails ?!? Confused was trying to think when I'd banged them etc but couldnt think of anything, v weird these pregnancy symptoms.

ishop maybe it is their fear of change kicking in now that it's close and things are ready, since having the cot ready next to our bed ds has been sneaking into our bed every night near enough, he keeps saying he wants to sleep near to baby though so not sure maybe he's over excited and anxious. Anyway once babies are born im sure they will settle in nicely and act more like their normal selfs (hopefully) :)

Weather is so nice but cannot stand sitting in the heat atm so taken shade indoors until taking ds to park after school and will take icy water then, is everyone else enjoying the sun? if it's sunny where you are

Lovemarmite · 24/07/2012 13:44

Good luck loupee, how exciting Thanks, let us know how it goes!

Had second antenatal class today, just about to do some natal hypnotherapy and then bouncing on my ball... so getting more ready hopefully (37+3)

Was told by mw to try and start massaging breasts for hand expressing for freezing. Trouble is, when I did it last night, oooo blimey, my bump went weird and movements were odd. Learnt today that nipple stimulation can help labour start, and as I feel unready, might not do that one again for a few days. OK, I'm feeling a bit of a scaredy cat and am convinced LO is going to be late!

Sunny and hot here on the south coast, have a work crew mixing up concrete and so the windows are closed as its too dusty and now getting a bit warm inside! Hope everyone gets some nice fresh air today!

Westcountrylovescheese · 24/07/2012 15:56

Good luck Loupee, hope everything is going well!

Ham with DD I was 5 days overdue despite numerous sweeps and consuming vast quantities of fresh pineapple (didn't work). I had planned on going shopping that day for MIL's mother's day present as it mother's day the following day. Got out of bed and I started trickling. I thought I'd weed myself a little bit, event to the toilet, did a wee, stood up and kept weeing. It was only when I wobbled the top of my bump and the fluid came out in a gush that I realised it was my waters! Doesn't say a lot for me as a midwife does itBlush. That was at 10am. Went in for spec and swabs to confirm rupture of membranes at 1ish, contractions started at 2pm. Established in labour by 7pm and DD was born at 01.27 hrs, on the Sunday morning, the first Mother's day baby that yearSmile. All in all a 6 1/2 hour labour with no stitches...textbook. I'm praying this will be the same, only quicker. I couldn't be that lucky again could I?!

35+1 today and having Braxton Hicks in abundance today. I think I'm a bit dehydrated and that can cause Braxton Hicks so I'm making an effort to drink more.

Our DD who excited beyond excitement about the impending arrival of her brother has started bedwetting at night. Obviously when she does it she's incredibly distressed and we reassure her it's an accident and not to worry. This morning she got into bed with me and started crying. When I tried to find out what was making her so sad she said "I don't know Mummy". We've given her lots of love, cuddles and reassurance. She's not symptomatic of a UTI, we lift her to the toilet before we go to bed and she doesn't drink a lot before bedtime. My gut feeling is this is an emotional stress response and I'm at a loss as to what else to do. Any advice?

Good luck Loupee.

ImissMiniPop · 24/07/2012 17:33

Good luck loupee :o see you on the post natal thread very soon..

ishopthereforeiam · 24/07/2012 17:46

Thanks woopsi I did let her wear jeans yesterday - just mentally exhausted and a bit worried about how I'll cope when dstobe arrives as will be busier with two of them and have reduced dd's days in nursery!

Cape I'll def try the hugging tightly. We do have a naughty corner for when she is fiercely misbehaving (rather than the smaller tantrums) and sometimes the mention of that stops her playing up a little...

Picture no advice I'm afraid just lots of sympathy. Hopefully once your dstobe is here she will settle and adjust, I'm sure it is the worry of things changing. We've bought dd a little toy from dstobe which we'll give her when he's born so hopefully that keeps it as something she sees as a positive experience and still has lots of kisses and cuddles for her brother.

36 weeks today and the midwife seems to think that baby will be here in the next 2!
Said he was 4/5 engaged and from what I've told her about my increasingly stronger braxton hicks, hip giving way and leaving me unable to move and the lovely 15-20cm long snot like substance that came out of me on Friday (sorry tmi!) that it sounds like my show happened and I'm still having bits come away still.
She said I also I have to call triage if my eyesight goes funny again - it did 3 times last week but I thought it may be a migraine, she said my blood pressure was slightly up but not a instant worry but as I'm 36 weeks someone will come out asap and do blood pressure if it goes again just in case it's pre eclampsia,
Getting scary now! :)

Nightfall1983 · 24/07/2012 19:29

Gosh you ladies are starting to scare me a bit! I think it's because I'm not due till nearly the end of August (25th) but I haven't had any of the "symptoms" that half of you have. In fact everything's been the same for the last couple of weeks, bar bump getting ever bigger... No period pains, no braxton hicks (don't think I've ever felt one), nothing...

I'm loving the sunshine! I'm definately a warm-weather person and being pregnant has not changed this one bit - I'm so much more cheerful in the sun! I had this afternoon off and spent the day pretty much on a sunbed in the garden - wedged with pillows to make it comfy. No significant swelling here, can still see my ankles fine. No real problems with clothes either, for the sunny weather I'm just wearing some pre-pregnancy shorts that still fit well as they go under my bump and one of the Primark vest tops that I bought upon recommendation for breast feeding - they are stretchy and quite long and fit the bump fine and don't leave a gap above my shorts. I'm lucky aren't I? I'm guessing it helps that baby isn't even thinking abot engaging yet so bump is still very high up.

Visited friends on Sunday and had a cuddle with their 5 week old - very cute but did cry and puke alot... Oh dear... That's what babies do isn't it? Grin

hamncheese · 24/07/2012 20:31

Ugh sorry to hear about the thrush again vino at least it's nearly baby time and it will go away fingers crossed

YES white I can't make a fist in the night due to swelling. Seriously I am a balloon, hands, feet ankles ughhhhh it worries me sometimes but MW seems to think ok

EXCITING loupee hope everything goes perfectly

Thanks for the stories all enjoying them! bears hopefully won't be as long indeed! I know someone who was in labour for 6 days eek!

I tried that nipple thing marmite (but for eviction reasons) and nothing happened! Apparently it's meant to release oxytocin?

Well I'm having some period pains more sore than usual just now and they come and go but I'm fairly certain they are/will be NOTHING! Grin

Last two mornings when I get up and go through to living room I get this weird headache, lasts for like 30 mins then goes but is like a searing pain on forehead, feels related to exposure to light (as coming from dark bedroom) and tensiony. Anyone else? Going to ask MW tomorrow. Also anyone been getting a LOT of discharge recently? TMI mine has gone more watery and clearer last few days. Feel like I'm watching my body's every move very critically at the moment demanding it perform or something haha!

Hope you are all having a nice evening I am knackered from volunteering to do assault course with kids at museum (perfect idea at 37 weeks!!) so off to bed to chill now :)

eightieshopaholic · 24/07/2012 21:04

with you all on the clothes problems have loads off tops but no trousers fit and my dress's at stretching point!!!

had sharp pains low down Sunday eve for 2 hrs but nothing since may have been my first braxton hicks?

I am a little excited, I pick my little brother up from airport tomorrow he's here for 3 weeks so really need HELP getting this little one moving out!! on raspberry tea 3 per day is that enough??? any tips please x

susiegrapevine · 24/07/2012 21:30

loupee good luck xxx

vino sorry to hear the thrush is back mine seems to come back but onlu midly slap some cream on for a couple of days and it goes again but I think I am supposed to keep using it for a week but if its not itcby I forget baby brain!! Lost my prescription tube as well so had to pay the extortionate amount for the cream as was a sat and could not itch all weekend plus no time to go to the docs this week what with running my dad's business and all. I go on maternity leave and have to do that lol!

eighties sex worked for me but they told us in antenal classes last time I was pregnant that the man has to ejaculate as this is what simulates labour. Yeah my midwife told me expressing can help as well. But am waiting to evicit baby until my mum and dad are back from france am 36 weeks today and will be 37+6 when they return so have told dh when I get to 37 weeks no sex till they return just in case!!

Loving the sunshine too. Took ds to a farm this afternoon and we are going to my friends beach hut tmw yay! Is a bit too hot tho! Got very hot working in my dad's office as there house is a modern hot box!

Weekipper · 25/07/2012 07:15

Loupee How exciting! Hope to hear your news soon! Also will be interested to hear about what the RIE is currently like. (I've just realised that I've never had to go to any hospital for myself, just visiting others, lucky I suppose.)

I'm enjoying reading all the birth stories. It makes me wonder what will happen for me. Last week the head was still free and was back to back so not expecting to go early. However like someone else's parents mentioned a page or two back (can't find name - sorry) my parents are also in France on holiday but not due back till 7/8 by which time I'll be 39w 5 days so fingers crossed the first grandchild stays put.

Just like everyone else clothes have become a pest - I ended up going to Mothercare and buying a pair of loose cargo type over the bump trousers at the weekend. I'm practically living in them now.

We picked up our cot etc from SIL so just need to build it. Last 2 days I've had sore cramping in my back and lower abdomen but I think it's been wind and a bit of an upset tummy! Blush But when it happened again last night I started thinking maybe I need to get everything ticked off and organised just in case.

On another note does anyone have experience of replacing an integrated fridge/freezer. Our fridge seems coolish not cold! however freezer is fine. Can I just buy one that matches measurements and swap them? I am great at DIY

Enjoy the sunshine even if it's from a shady spot!

woopsidaisy · 25/07/2012 07:55

Weekipper it might be worth having someone take a look at it. Our fridge was not going cold for ages-like,a year! This Summer the milk kept going off etc. We thought we needed a new fridge, but got a guy out and he fixed it no problem. The door had slid down so wasn't meeting and sealing right. It is like new now.
Ham I agree that I feel I am watching my body under a microscope at the minute...Grin.

Loupee · 25/07/2012 08:01

Hi all, quick check in from me. Baby boy born at 8.47 last night, 9lbs 2oz, still thinking about names. Ended up with forceps, sore and tired this morning. Hoping to push to get home today.
Hope you are all well, will do proper catch up soon.

Glimpers · 25/07/2012 08:06

Congrats loupee what a good weight! Hope you manage to get home today.

Westcountrylovescheese · 25/07/2012 08:07

frillylemons · 25/07/2012 08:14

CONGRATULATIONS LOUPEE!! Eek how exciting Grin

hamncheese · 25/07/2012 08:29

Wow amazing congratulations you must be so happy!! Grin BRING ON THE BABIES!!!

Vinolover · 25/07/2012 08:49

Massive congratulations Loupee! Well done you and welcome to your baby boy :) Thanks

I've been doing the nipple stimulation but apart from giving me pains when I'm doing it, it seems to stop soon after :( I shall carry on though and hope it's at least doing something.

I'm using my prescription tube now Susie. I think I got it just in time but I'm wondering if I should go back to the dr's seeing as this is the third time in 6 weeks. I just cant seem to shift the bloody thing.

With regards to RLT, you should be having 3 cups at 36 weeks and 4 cups from 38 weeks. Wonder what it's like iced???????

woopsidaisy · 25/07/2012 08:52

Oh congratulations Loupee! How exciting! Enjoy your new born snuggles.

PictureThis · 25/07/2012 09:07

Well done Loupee, no wonder you're sore, what a good weight. Get someone to get you some femme pads to put on your perineum, they'll help take the swelling down quickly.

Lovemarmite · 25/07/2012 09:49

Congratulations loupee Thanks hope you can get home today!
Wow, great weight and glad you're both doing well.

Picture this are the femme pads not maternity pads but more of healing thing? Oooo must get some, please tell x

Whiteangel · 25/07/2012 09:51

Congrats Loupee! Who is next? Going to attempt a trip to the metro centre today with DH. Only a few mins from home but still feel a bit apprehensive. Not good on my feet for long so he may have to keep parking me on benches! Can anyone advise on nursing tops. Are they worth buying? Was thinking of getting a couple of vests to start with and see how I get on. Do any high street shops do nursing clothes or just mothercare? It rained overnight and is a bit cooler here today, thankfully!
Have a lovely day everyone!

NeedlesCuties · 25/07/2012 09:53
