Whiteangel · 23/07/2012 09:06

Good morning. Does no posts mean we all slept well? Apart from needing to wee lots, think I do ok. Plumber coming to start installing our new downstairs loo today. Hopefully it will be finished before baby arrives! Hot and sunny this morning, well in our bedroom anyway, I've not ventured much further thanks to DH bringing me breakfast in bed. So glad he has finished for the summer! Lots of exciting things planned for this week like .... Erm buying a new cat bed! Any babies going to arrive this week? (38+4).

Vinolover · 23/07/2012 09:35

I slept very well for the third night running Whiteangel :) I have been a lot more active though so I think that has something to do with it. I WILL get this baby to put pressure on my cervix!

Back to the sex talk, Wink spooning is quite a good way at the moment, especially with a big bump. maybe worth a shot??

I hope everybody has a lovely sunny week. The weather here is supposed to be glorious all week and I fully intend to make the most of it!

ishopthereforeiam · 23/07/2012 09:35

Morning all!

Thanks west and ham - all of a sudden DH said last night that he was happy with my suggestion before we went to sleep which was nice. Not sure if prompted by my many comments like "you owe me big time for the two dc's!" " pregnancy is tough so is bf" "wow 9 months of all this twice over" etc etc... Wink All true tho!

No good sleep here white but maybe I need to get on the sex bandwago Wink- up every hour or so to turn over (pain in hips from the bump) or go to loo.

Hopefully final antenatal appointment today - booking in for c/s this friday.

Have a good day all!

Lovemarmite · 23/07/2012 10:09

Good morning everyone!
Great to hear about all this sex talk, although it makes me feel like I'm not being the good wife here - we've tried it twice through the pg and boy, it felt uncomfortable. Evening, feel bloated and bump too big and morning, the hips hurt, I guess the middle of the day may work better although that would completely surprise both of us! Blush

Bought a birthing ball, now at 37+2 I hope it's not too late to use it, but hoping to use it in the first stages of labour, I'll also start the hypnotherapy cd and so everything at the last minute and rushed, sounds like a great idea Wink.

We have our first day of building today and so the next two weeks will be chaos, DH has gone off to meetings and left me here to deal with it. Luckily the size of me has made the workmen understand that teas etc are not every hour!!

Had the PILS here on Sunday which was great as it was nice to catch up and FIL helped DH to sort things. Although MIL asked me again, what she must have said for me to hate her and then gave me a lecture about how I will have to go through letting my LO go when the flee the nest and move away. Oh dear, I know she has said to other people that her son has changed since he's been with me, and that I have changed him, but we've been together for 11 years and he's his own self not something I've made him into - hmm. Odd but luckily DH thinks it's bonkers too.

Hope everyone is feeling fine in the heat today x

Lovemarmite · 23/07/2012 10:11

Hope your antenatal appointment goes well today ishop and wow, we're so close now. Are you having a booking in appointment for a c/s or are you meeting your LO this Friday?

Firsttobed · 23/07/2012 10:44

Ladies, I lurked on the earlier threads at the beginning and I recognise some of your names. It's now coming up to August and I wanted to wish you all the best for your births. I lost my little boy at almost 22 weeks in April and so while I'm not here with you you're all on my mind. Good luck and I hope that all goes well over the next few weeks.

panpipe · 23/07/2012 11:38

Thanks for your well wishes Firsttobed and very sorry to hear your sad news. I might have missed you at the start of the thread as I was wary of joining in too early after having a mmc myself last time so wanting to get to a 'safe' stage before getting too excited.

So my Mission Evict Baby has turned into mission keep it in there for a few more days: had a trial run of the birth pool yesterday and it turns out that I've ordered the wrong size liner so I need to wait for the right one to arrive first!

And finally pleased to be able to say that we've finished the nursery! Final paint touch ups and fitting handles on the new cupboard doors yesterday then I could get in there to clean and put all the baby things away in the cupboard :)

Went for my bikini wax this morning and it wasn't too uncomfortable. I was a bit nervous about being on my back but it wasn't for much longer than 15 mins but I'll still be going on all fours for a bit more today to counteract it!

Hope you're all enjoying the sunny weather. I'm going for coffee this afternoon with the NCT ladies so will try and bag an outside table!

PictureThis · 23/07/2012 11:50

Sex, what's that? It's not happening here, I'm far too uncomfortable to even entertain the idea and my libido packed it's bags and headed for the hills a long time ago! Poor DHSad.
weather is rubbish here today, grey, windy and cold so a perfect day to catch up with the ironing. I have have a mountainous pile of ironing which doesn't get an lower the more I look at it so I'm summoning up the inclination from somewhere to get on with it, my least favourite household chore.

Firsttobed I'm so sorry to hear of your terrible loss. I hope you and your family are doing ok and drawing strength from each other to get you through this, especially as your due date will be approaching. Big hug to you.

frillylemons · 23/07/2012 12:16

Hush with all your teasing talk of sleep Envy I was up from 12.30 last night with heartburn and then waking up every half hour - hour to turn because my back hurt and ribs felt like they would explode.

Well, at least I am only on half days this week and then I'm on ML! Woop! However, I am feeling slighlty daunted by it, I've been working full time for the last 9 years!

geekette · 23/07/2012 12:18

Firsttobed, my sincere condolences! What a rough thing to go through. I do not know what would give you comfort but I wish you all the best.

Sex to get the baby in and sex to get it out... right... what don't i have to put up with for this little bubba... In any case, if ever sex is on the cards, then we go for spooning with lots of pillows. very comfy, for me at least. But it's been a while so can't tell if that position still works for us.

We made our first dash to the delivery unit last night. Baby hadn't moved in a few days. I got a right telling off from the midwives for waiting so long. I know it now, if in doubt, call the midwives!
For some reason, as soon as LO could hear its own heartbeat, it went into overdrive. Go figure. Just happy it is ok. Apparently i was having contractions too but couldn't feel a thing. Actually no one could feel my contractions so we all think it is just BH.

Has anyone else prepared stay-at-home entertainment for those first few weeks when we can't really move? We just got BT Vision installed. the box itself is fiddly (seems to crash a lot and i wish bt would give better notification when one of their junction boxes goes down...) But when the service works, it definitely fits the bill for me.

The3Bears · 23/07/2012 13:42

Firsttobed Thank you for your kind words to us all, how thoughtful of you Flowers I am so sorry for your loss what a terrible thing to have to go through sending you lots of hugs at x

yay to finishing nursery panpipe I must admit I feel alot more relaxed and calmer about baby arriving now everything is done.

Blush with all the sex talk weve been okay but as im so big now and baby moves alot in the evening it's hard to get in the mood.

Hope your final appt goes well ishop how exciting, so close for you now :)

glad LO was okay geek Im thinking of ordering a couple of boxsets to watch while bf but seeing as ds is off school and dp will be at home im guessing I wont have first choice over the remote. Think I may order Lost boxset though as me and dp loved it and it's been a while so will be nice to watch in the evenings together.
Dp was going to get me a kindle but need some book recomendations first as dont want anything sad as im an emotional wreck atm and will be after baby is born so every book i've picked up to buy the past few weeks ive put back as I dont want to be all down and sad, so does anyone have any recomendations?

The3Bears · 23/07/2012 13:46

Forgot to add went on a big walk this morning after dropping ds of at school and on the way back started getting terrible back pains and lots of BH was a bit worried but since resting at home they have stopped.
Also our gorgeous little tabby puss cat has decided to go wandering and hasnt been home since yesterday at 11am so getting abit worried and have been looking for him :( keeping fingers crossed he will arrive home safe and sound soon hes only 9 months old but he is neutered and micro chipped so hoping he's just gone for a wander around.

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine :)

Firsttobed · 23/07/2012 14:06

Thank you ladies for your kind words. Don't tell but I'm expecting again Smile

Lovemarmite · 23/07/2012 14:15

Thanks for your kind thoughts Firsttobed and lots of warm wishes to you too x

3bears hope your pussycat comes back asap and he's just been on a wander. Our pusscat used to disappear in the heat and only come back for his fish supper at times. If no fish was served, we would never have seen him for ages!

Me too Picturethis I have a pile of ironing to do this afternoon, although it's all the LO's new bedding and newborn clothes and so looking forward to seeing it all folded etc. What domestic goddesses we are Wink

For boxsets, we've borrowed the West Wing. I can't take any violence at the moment and so this seems like a good series perhaps. I recommend 24 or the Sopranos or the Good Wife as we've watched them, although 24 is action packed and the Sopranos has a few crazy mob moments and so maybe not the best relaxing series to watch.

3bears have you read 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' and the other two in the series? I couldn't put them down.

All this eviction talk, ahhh!!! I'm not ready yet as 2nd antenatal class is tomorrow, and I've not got my head around it yet, gulp, 37+2 today and so perhaps I should kick myself awake Shock

PictureThis · 23/07/2012 14:22

What great news Firsttobed although I'm sure until you know all is well you won't relax. How many weeks are you? I hope all goes well this time and wishing you a healthy and happy pregnancy.

Westcountrylovescheese · 23/07/2012 14:49

Hospital bag is packed!

hamncheese · 23/07/2012 16:29

Oh the West Wing is brilliant marmite! I also recommend The Wire very highly one of the best tv shows I've ever watched (up there with Sopranos in quality).

I've not bought in any box sets specifically... any recommendations? Problem is DH and I tend to watch them together but at the moment could really do with a series of my own for daytime to pass the hours where my body just has had enough. Really beginning to feel debilitated by my size and shape now, and everything takes so much effort.

Really feels like things are getting ready now, every night I wake up with really sore period pains and think "is this the start?" and then in the morning wake up to find it wasn't grr!!

To pass the time/get overly excited... of those of you who have had a baby before, and who went into labour naturally, when did it happen/where/did you know/symptoms etc, tell me your stories :)

ontheedgeofwhatever · 23/07/2012 17:06

firsttobed thank you for your lovely message. So sorry to hear your sad news but glad to hear that you're getting another chance so soon. Hope all goes well this time.

I went to the hospital for my usual weekly checks this morning and had a bit of a shock as my blood tests came back with bad results. The senior midwife said I'd need to see the doctors and "to brace myself as they may decide to whip baby out right now"- assumed she meant an emergency c sec. Five minutes later I was in with a consultant and five minutes after that I was having an emergency scan and then back to the consultant. After a horrible 20 minutes they decided that I could wait until Wednesday morning to be induced as planned. Felt so scared because normally seeing any doctor let alone consultant involved 1-2 hour wait and scan would usually involve another similar wait.

So induction day after tomorrow, mum coming up tomorrow to help with DD. Hospital bag packed, pram and moses basket ready, suitcase full of clean clothes ready for baby. Planning a very restful day tomorrow.

Firsttobed · 23/07/2012 17:20

I'm 6 weeks picturethis thank you for asking, so only just. Yes you're right I won't be ok until well after the point at which we lost him. But I have to be in the race or it'll never happen so that keeps my chin up!

Happy thoughts ladies and good luck on Wednesday ontheedge x

forgetfulmrs · 23/07/2012 17:28

first to bed your secret is safe with us and warm wishes coming your way

Its been a nice sunny day here too (N.Yorks) so I took DS to the river to meet up with some friends. We ended up being there for over 4 hours so have only just got home! Am exhausted but was so worth it as DS had such a great time splashing around.

So we could have at least two new babies on this thread this week, ishop and edge. That is so exciting.

MrsMigginslovespies · 23/07/2012 17:43

Firsttobed, congratulations on your lovely news and also so sad to hear your earlier sadness this year. Hope it all goes really well for you and very exciting times!

Gosh Ontheedge, dramatic times indeed! Hang in there till Wed and good luck!! Amazing!

Marmite, Westwing is AWESOME! Also love Grey's Anatomy, The Killing, and we're currently watch Jeeves and Wooster! Boxsets are fab.

We've spent some time today getting some more paint for nursery to touch up some holes, and some boxes for the wardrobe. I'm being told off for not resting enough but finding it tricky until things are done. However, ribs are sore today and I'm feeling tired, so might head off now for some hypno stuff.

Have chat with MW tomorrow re birthplan so am going to finalise tonight as much as I can so it's vaguely in place.

Hope everyone has a nice evening...can't help feeling a bit on edge now things are getting so close. x

NeedlesCuties · 23/07/2012 17:47

Sex, lovely sex! We've been same as ever really, but just bit slower due to heavy bump and needing about 3 attempts to turn myself over. Glam, I am not!

Am going to see the new Batman film tomorrow with a friend while DH takes DS swimming. Really looking forward to it, as we're going for a chinese afterwards :)

ham you asked about natural labour stories: I had DS at 39 weeks (which was the day we'd set aside to learn how to set up the pram, car seat etc etc). Had been out at friends house for dinner the night before and I was feeling very much like a period was coming - sore back, heavy feeling in lower gut. Went home and to bed as normal. Rolled over in bed at 3am and waters broke everywhere! I exclaimed, DH jumped up and as I stood up out of bed another gush of waters came out. Soooo glad we had wooden floors! Anyway, so I hung about at home till about 5:30am when the pain got too much, rang ahead, then went to hospital as contractions were getting intense. DS wasn't born till 8:30pm so it was a loooong day, but worth it! Grin

susiegrapevine · 23/07/2012 18:23

firsttobed sorry to hear your sad news but you seem to be dealing really well. Congrats on the new pregnancy and fingers crossed.

ham I knew nothing until my waters broke @ 38 +3 no suspitions at all even thought I'm bound to go over due with my 1st! They broke at 5.20 am I thought I had wet the bed Blush and ran to the loo preparing to tell dh what I had done got up from the loo and more stuff came out so I was like hmm this is not me wetting myself. Anyway ds was out at 10.06am!! Same day!! No body hate me too much!

ImissMiniPop · 23/07/2012 19:12

Yay! SO exciting to read more babies to join Minipop very very soon. Can't wait!
I currently have 38 weeks of Minipop sleeping on my chest, god knows how he would have got out!

Haven't set up the post natal thread yet, but will do unless ishopwants to start it for good measure....?:o

ImissMiniPop · 23/07/2012 19:13

firsttobed sorry to read about your loss, but congratulations on your good news and wish you all the best. :)
