Sorry to hear about your doh frilly

And I love everyone's baby names, all sound very serious and classic names. We had chosen Alexander for boy too.

But we are having a girl, we have decided to name her Avesta. It is from ancient Zoroastrian religion and was the name of their holy book. I met an Avesta once when I was around 13 years old and decided that if I ever had a daughter I will give her this name. It also goes really well with the names of my two step daughters. And it is pretty hard to mispronounce I think.

Morning everyone,

Had the worst nights sleep ever been awake since 5am and feel rotten :( Im full of a cold and feel so uncomfy atm counting down the days til I have this baby now and really was looking forward to enjoying the last few weeks relaxing and going for walks in the sunshine. The reality is rain, more rain and colds! so frustrating.
Bump was going really hard all evening yesterday and it's doing it again this morning suppose it must be a good sign not sure though always think it's baby stretching out or something, does anyone elses bump do this?

Sorry to hear about your dh and work susie hope it manages to get sorted soon :( , ive been worrying about how we will cope financially aswell as dps work has just lost a huge contract so there is no overtime which weve been relying on for saving for his paternity and summer hols so pulling strings in now and trying to save as much as we can. So glad we got all baby bits early though as I would have been stressing so much right now if not, just going to order isofix base now and thats it done :)
At least you can now have some antibiotics ishop 7days! Shock wow!!!
I really need to start having my RLT but with my cold all ive been having is water and hot vimto, yum.

Hope everyones having a nice day today even in the rain, at least its Friday! and im 37 weeks tomorrow, yay Grin

NeedlesCuties · 20/07/2012 10:27

PictureThis I have an odd tip for you, which worked for me last night. My baby is also long, was measuring as 38 weeks at my 34 week appt, and I still don't think he/she is engaged as I am still getting proper kicks right up in my ribs.

Anyway, have been in lots of pain in one particular spot, sort of beneath my right boob, but more central. Seems like DC is kicking me in one spot and bruising my ribs Confused

DH told me that heat would help it (but I was too lazy to go downstairs as I was in bed) so I put some Vicks Vapour Rub on it and it didn't hurt at all during the night! Woo! I'm hoping all his years of medical training and working as a GP hasn't been in vain and that he knows what he's talking about! Lol! I do recommend using Vicks.

ImissMiniPop · 20/07/2012 10:28

ishop 7 days? eek! do you want to start the post natal thread thrn, as you started this one it seems the right thing to do :o

Sorry to hear about doggie :( frilly

McBaby very pleased contractions have stopped, hope you can take it easy & relax

Lovely name warzone, how goes it back in the UK?

Westcountrylovescheese · 20/07/2012 10:37

Needles, I am 3/5ths engaged with a long baby (DH is very tall) and I get kicks in exactly the same place. Sometimes quite painfully so... Will try your DH's suggestion. I am just trying to keep my back straight and sitting on the ball rather than on the sofa. Although am sat on sofa now and my right boob has just jumped up an inch so best move...

PictureThis · 20/07/2012 10:47

Thanks needles I will definitely try that. The pain you've described is exactly what I'm feeling except mine is on the opposite side. It makes taking a deep breath in a bit uncomfortable.

frillylemons · 20/07/2012 11:12

Thanks for the sympathy everyone!!

Had a bit of a to-do with MIL yesterday evening...did post about it on our FB page, but felt guilty (DH told me to tell no one) so I took it down! Hey ho.

Only 1 week left at work after today! Woop! I can't believe how fast it's going! I am still sleeping really badly so I am looking forward to having some lie-ins!

Vinolover · 20/07/2012 12:31

7 days Ishop!! How exciting :) Try not to over think what you need to take otherwise you will drive yourself mad!

Hope everything is ok with you and you mil now frilly. They drive you nuts don't they!

It sounds like things are really heading in the right direction Mcbaby but it must be really frustrating! I hope it doesn't drag out too much longer for you.

Hunger has struck again even though I have already had my lunch! Time to raid the cupboards again!!!!

panpipe · 20/07/2012 13:41

Oh susie hope DH's work situation sorts itself out.

Just come back from homebirth coffee morning. It was lovely to meet a few people from last time who have either had babies or they've really grown up, and good to hear a lot of positive birth stories!

Had MW appt there at the same time. Baby still head down and 1/5 engaged now, but it's managed to turn itself back to back. MW doesn't seem too bothered as it's very active so thinks it's quite likely it will still move. Even though she's said that I'm definitely going to up the all-fours action and do lots of rolling cat position!

Had a much better night's sleep last night; maybe a combination of going to bed later than usual and rearranging my pillow mountain so I had some under my left hip which has been hurting.

Needles and picture if you're still struggling with top of bump pain join the club! There's a yoga stretch that I find really helpful, where you start with your hands in prayer position in front of you then raise your arms into the air (with hands still together). It lifts your diaphragm off your uterus and gives you a lovely stretch and some relief!

The Olympic torch relay thing is in our town today so will be heading off to that tonight. They're expecting 25,000 people in the park so not sure how long I'll handle that!

Westcountrylovescheese · 20/07/2012 13:48

Panpipe, is your baby veering to the left or right at the back? The uterus contracts clockwise so back to back not really a problem if baby on the left (mine is here). If on the right and stays there then would need to pass spine during labour, which is the painful bit, in order to get out. You should be able to tell from where you feel kicks.

panpipe · 20/07/2012 13:59

West MW and I are not sure but it's always tended towards the left so hopefully it's still in that direction. Having said that there was a foot at each side this morning so goodness knows!

lynniegooner · 20/07/2012 16:58

Nightfall1983 Our tickets are for Thursday 2nd, sure I will be fine but just a bit worried about the long walk that everyone keeps talking about! Think they are just hoping that they will put me off going and they can get their hands on my ticket!!
The name we've decided on is Lucia (DH is Argentinian so his family are happy there is a latin flavour to it) and my English side of the family can call her Lucy, which was also was my grandmother's name.
Just been MW appointment and baby is 3/5ths - no wonder I can feel all the grinding going on down below!! If it tickles down there then baby has lots of hair apparently!

ontheedgeofwhatever · 20/07/2012 17:07

Hello everyone just been to see midwife. My normal lovely MW wasn't there - her dad was involved in a road traffic accident yesterday and killed. Absolutely gutted for her as she is one of the loveliest people you could ever hope to meet. I've done a card for her and can drop it off at surgery later. Selfishly really sad as means another MW I've not met will be doing the checks on baby late next week and helping me breastfeed.

Baby has finally engaged - figure in notes is 3/5 so head presumably 2/5 down. They think its already EIGHT POUNDS PLUS. Help I have to push this thing out of me. Very glad to think they'll be inducing me on Wednesday if it went to full term I'd be having a monster - I could be home with a real live cuddly gorgeous baby this time next week.

DP just got DD's old moses basket out of the loft. I feel so emotional looking at it - need to wash all the fabric though and MUST get a new mattress. He got a pile of her baby clothes out too and the sleep suit I wanted to bring baby home in is missing so sure it was up there too. Probably another packet of clothes up there but I've been forbidden from climbing ladder by DP who's gone into protective mode

I love my mum dearly but she's driving me slightly mad. This morning she rung to ask what time I'd be having the baby as she wanted to meet a friend for lunch and wanted to know if she'd have time. ummmm I really don't know mum but since hospital don't want me to phone them re whether they have a bed until 10am I doubt it will be out before lunch. "yes dear but what time, X needs to know whether to make sandwiches or a proper meal, you're being induced, its not like natural labour you've got a time scale so what time should i visit the hospital to see baby" I GIVE UP. Honestly I know she's excited but how does she expect me to know?

ontheedgeofwhatever · 20/07/2012 17:13

Sorry pressed send too soon

susie really hope situation with your DH and work resolves. I am sure HR will want to soothe things over - everyone is allowed to make the odd mistake though its never a good feeling when it happens.

Miaboo You've inspired me to midnight feasting thoughts so I've added some crunchies and cereal bars to my hospital bag. Probably end up eating them at home but you never know what might happen.

finally has anyone had a sort of ongoing stabbing pain in their breast just behind the nipple? I've ahd it for a couple of days now and its driving me mad

Westcountrylovescheese · 20/07/2012 17:57

Ontheedge, oh my goodness what was your mum thinking! My mouth is wide open, how did you manage not to just laugh? I think if my mum did that I'd probably tell her baby is arriving at 3:25 and she can plan her day around that. Wink

ontheedgeofwhatever · 20/07/2012 18:55

westcountry I think she genuinely believes that induction is a bit like a selective C section - baby arrives at scheduled time on scheduled date Grin.

This is despite the fact DD was induced on a Monday morning and didn't bother putting in an appearance until nearly midnight on the Wednesday :) Still at least she's interested and excited and offering to help with DD who is also invited to the afore mentioned lunch

capecath · 20/07/2012 19:07

ontheedge haha, sorry but that is rather funny about your mum's comments! :)

lovemarmite can totally relate to those uncomfortable feelings in bed. Don't know about anyone else but I am getting kinda tired of being pregnant... Ready for new challenges!

Vinolover · 20/07/2012 19:48

Your mums comments really made me giggle ontheedge. Oh if only it was that strait forward!

I'm over being pregnant now capecath but I know full well in a few weeks time I'll be desperately missing my bump and feel depressed because I know I'll never have another baby. I've had a chat with the baby but he seems quite adament he's staying put right now.
My dh very kindly pointed out to me over dinner that even though baby is due in 3 weeks I could still have 5 weeks to wait! (like I need a reminder) He took a serious risk saying that out loud!!!

Does anybody else struggle to walk after a bounce on their birthing ball? I walk like I have something wedged!

tashaw28 · 20/07/2012 20:03

Hilarious ontheedge, does she think your DH is going to be eating lunch 10 mins after its born?!?!
So funny!

Vino feel exactly the same, want it over with but so gutted that these next 4 ish weeks are IT, forever!!!

ishopthereforeiam · 20/07/2012 20:22

on the edge that's hilarious (also a bit worrying) re your mother! Even for my planned c/s they won't give me a specific time as it all depends on whether emergencies crop up. Also really sorry to hear about your mw.

pan enjoy the torch relay this evening, 25,000 Shock wow!

poppy ahhh that made me a bit emotional thinking back to when I got my positive pg tests and started the thread in Nov/Dec - it's been a helluva journey for us all eh!? Happy to set up the post natal thread although as the first mama to give birth out of us all I think it'd be fitting for you to do so, if not tho let me know and I'll get it up and running? x

vino truesay - and they've said they'll prob only keep me in a day if all goes well so prob not worth packing too much anyway (already bought 4 new nighties for hospital!?)

frilly what happened with MiL?

OP posts:
hamncheese · 20/07/2012 20:56

Laughing too ontheedge !

Can score off sex and curry from the baby eviction check list for today. After said activities lying on the couch and felt all heavy and achey and then got a big period pain type thing but alas it never went anywhere. I think I'm being far too optimistic and impatient at 37 weeks but will still be wolfing down the pineapple tomorrow.

My gran is in hospital which is rubbish. She ends up in there a lot for heart palpitations so not an uncommon situation but this time it is an infection or something and her endoscope has been delayed and she isn't getting treatment til that happens so has become very disoriented not recognising people properly etc which is horrible. I always feel I never know how worried to be about things like this you know? Will be visiting her tomorrow when the visiting hours are hoping she is getting sorted out by then :(

The3Bears · 20/07/2012 21:17

ontheedge laughing at your mums comments, she sounds hillarious :) sorry about your mw aswell thats so sad :(

capcath im with you on that but feeling sad that it will be over soon aswell, hard to enjoy it when you feel so uncomfortable though.

Sorry about your gran ham hope she's feeling abit better tomorrow.

Has anyone else been getting lots of tightenings across bump? They are braxton hicks as they just feel uncomfortable and odd but i had alot last night and have had them all day. Been super emotional today aswell burst into tears when dp arrived home from work as just feel rubbish full of a cold and cough and the tightenings havent been nice at all with all this :( hoping for a better day tomorrow.

woopsidaisy · 20/07/2012 22:27

Ooooo, I'm jealous. You lot are all getting symptoms....I never get symptoms. Not having any BH, or niggles,or twinges...and baby is still turning and spinning,so lord knows what way he/she is.
On the positive side this time I don't have any of that feet sticking into rib type pain. After two massive babies, this one has so much room it could take in guests still!Grin
Definitely my most comfortable bump. Although have started to get pain down in groin-where leg and groin sort of meet. I had this with the others too, think it is due to weight,as this one is big too apparently.
18 sleeps till due date, but am preparing myself for going ten days over-as usual!
I have to mention my fab DH who has been running lovely baths for me in the evenings, candles, bubbles, my book and a drink....he is a star!

Can't wait to start hearing about more babies on our list putting in an appearance!

panpipe · 20/07/2012 22:58

Torch relay this afternoon was good, fab weather, but all over quite quickly in a blink and you miss it kind of way! DH was playing with our brass band along the route so by the time they'd finished and we waddled at my 0.001mph speed to the park most of the main entertainment had finished! Still quite a bit of walking to do and boy am I feeling it now. Baby's having a party in there and I've been having some really tight feeling twinges low down so have gone to bed to relax.

frillylemons · 21/07/2012 08:48

HAPPY SATURDAY! No idea what to do today. DH at work till 1. I am really useless at having time alone! Yesterday I baked a lemon drizzle cake and made frozen yogurt pops and today I think I will make white chocolate and Diam bar cookies. Yeah, well I've only put on a stone since pre-pregnancy weight...let's bulk it up a bit Wink At least baking keeps me busy!

What are you all doing today?
