Anyone got tickets for the Olympics? Ours are for the hockey but only three days before my due date! Heard there is a lot of walking involved to get from the station to the actual Olympic Park and also long queues at the security barriers.........but it's a once in a lifetime opportunity, right!!?!
Maybe the first baby to be born at the Olympics!!!!

Whiteangel · 19/07/2012 17:54

Now that would be a claim to fame, especially as every minute is going to be on the BBC! Can we think of any Olympic names?

fairtradelu · 19/07/2012 18:04

Have just booked a wax for when I'm going to be 36 weeks. Has anyone had one recently? How were the pain levels? Am thinking it'll be a good opportunity to practise my yoga breathing - just hoping it doesn't bring on early labour!

Vinolover · 19/07/2012 18:11

Oh no Frilly I'm so sorry :(

We're naming our baby William George. William is the only name we can agree on! We had loads of girls names to play with but that's always the way lol. We already have Oliver Michael and Mia Louise :)

I saw the MW today and all seems well. She said seeing as I'm 37wks on saturday I can start to try to get things going. I've started the evening primrose oil (am praying it doesn't upset my tummy) so it's getting lots of sex in etc now. My poor old DH! Im not exactly the most agile at the moment Wink
She did say she has a really good record of getting her ladies into labour within 24hrs of having a sweep so if all else fails I shall definitely be requesting one! I can't believe it's so close now but it still seems so far away!

Hope everyone else is well :)

Lovemarmite · 19/07/2012 18:15

Who wants an outie? mine was a deep innie and now an outie... Bleuh! Not sure I like it as it's itchy because the skin seems too soft to be there on the outside, shudder!

Love the names! We like Stephanie and Cara but still thinking.

Had the worst night last, maybe managed an hour sleep tops because I was so uncomfortable. As soon as I laid on my side I was really nauseous and my belly hurt as she felt so low down and almost grinding on my pelvic area. Odd feelings and then got breathless and dizzy. Saw mw today though and she said it's all normal and when she felt around said, oh yes she's definitely down there! is anyone feeling this at almost 37 weeks?

Sorry to hear about ddog frilly

Hope you have in nights out tonight. I'm in front of telly and having a dh foot massage hopefully!

Lovemarmite · 19/07/2012 18:17

Sorry should have read 'good nights out tonight'! iPad too clever or dumb?

ontheedgeofwhatever · 19/07/2012 18:19

We still haven't decided on names. I like Thomas or Robert for a boy and Daisy or Eleanor for a girl but DP not taken with any of them and hasn't suggsted any alternatives. At this rate we'll just ave to call it Nameless.

DP being home is lovely. He did school run this morning and I didn't wake up until 9.30am it was bliss. I know that won't last long

ontheedgeofwhatever · 19/07/2012 18:21

ps the forecast for next week is lovely - looks like I'm going to be stuck in hospital having a baby on the hottest day of the year - they're predicting 27 degrees for Wednesday in our area - that will be "fun"but it will all be worth it at the end of it

ChicBabyP · 19/07/2012 18:30

fairtrade I just had a bikini wax this week (at 37+2) and it was ok (ish). I did find it hurt a little more than usual, I guess the skin is more sensitive now, but I feel so much better/tidier now. The woman did say to me "you're not due yet are you?", uhh well under 3 weeks...Not sure if she was asking because of policy reasons or because I don't look it, but she still did it!

Enjoying reading about all the names you have picked out, we still have no idea!! this baby is going to be nameless if we don't make up our minds real soon!

I wonder how Mcbaby is doing... and am Envy as I am due 2 days before and there are no signs of anything happening anytime soon. I know I should be moving around more to get things started but the weather hasn't been very favorable for long walks. Next week is supposed to be nicer so hopefully I can get out and about!

How is everyone else doing? I know there were more posts I wanted to comment on but can't look back and this thread moves so fast!

McBaby · 19/07/2012 18:44

CIntractuons stopped early this morning :( but managed to get some rest today but still having some period type pains. Just hoping its a sign it's all going the right way.

Looking forward to sunshine now after so much rain :)

panpipe · 19/07/2012 18:47

Well I managed to find somewhere to give me a wax next week when I'll be 37+6 so will report back!

Lynnie have fun at the Olympics and hope you manage the day! I'm very Envy of everyone managing to go - I was supposed to be performing at the opening and closing ceremonies but got my BFP between my audition and finding out I had a place. It was disappointing having to turn it down but with the OC being when I'll be 38+5 and the closing one after my due date it was probably for the best. Didn't want to risk going into labour in front of a TV audience of 2 billion lol!

panpipe · 19/07/2012 18:49

Ooh just seen your post McBaby. Hope you manage to take it easy :)

miaboo · 19/07/2012 19:00

I've just finished packing baby boys suitcase for hospital and my bags nearly finished! This is my 3rd boy and this time I have put some ribena diluted in, some cereal bars and some mars bars!! Remember last time I couldnt sleep all night as was buzzing from the the birth that was at 4.08pm!, I just getting getting in and out of bed sorting my bags out and watching him sleep!, so I've bought some midnight feast things this time :)
MASSIVE pushchair all saved up for and going to fetch it next weekend, we have had the phil and teds explorer in black in navy as ds2 will only be 21 months when this one comes.
Think we are just about ready now, a little more unorganised than last time with already having 2 to look after, but he has his moses basket, nappies and wipes at least ;)

hamncheese · 19/07/2012 19:28

Yeah I'm with you on groupon being a pain loupee you always seem to get such bad service and herded like cattle just because you have paid already. As soon as you mention it you can feel the mood change!

Sorry to hear about you parents dog frilly that's so sad but sounds like she was having a good life right to the end which is some consolation

Yep ishop Alexander will be Sandy and Charlotte will be Charlie (ALWAYS wanted a girl with a boy nickname heehee!) :) as for Christmas we would do something similar if we were in a proper house but in the flat in the city and no proper family dinner just feels a bit unfestive! Hoping to host dinner at ours next year when we have a bigger place and invite them all!!

I will be commencing the bring on the baby attempts on saturday like you have been vino told DH tonight his services were required of then. I'm sure the timetabling of sex makes it EVEN MORE APPEALLING, never mind my general hippo like state!

What side were you on marmite ? When I go on my right now baby kicks like mad, hates it! As soon as I swap to left it settles... assuming it's an oxygen thing. I get really uncomfy on my back now for obvious reasons, bump aches like mad too

Oh hope things progress well soon mcbaby keep us posted!

Well today I bought two pairs of size 7 flip flops as my feet have swollen to gigantic cankle proportions and it is not only really ugly but damn painful to squish them into things now. I'm just going to wear flipflops even if it is raining. No more wet socks. Nice cool feet... will need a wash when I get home but seems to help the swelling to keep them sockless now.

Cinema was fine actually. Only discomfort was self-induced sick feeling from too much sugar hehe. The chairs seemed SO SMALL though. Seriously, before I could sit in them with my legs under me (if you know what I mean) couldn't at all this time. Took my squishy bean pillow with me which was really sensible, also took a pair of socks to cover my flip flop feet and put feet up a bit in various locations haha lucky it was quiet. Film was Angel's share... quite good, a little bit unrealistic but for obvious reasons, generally amusing. Didn't get up to the toilet once YESSSS!!

Whiteangel · 19/07/2012 20:00

Just taken my first raspberry leaf tea capsule on mw's recommendation. It says to take 3 to 6 times a day. Any tips? Also bought some tea bags incase DH couldn't find tablets at the metro centre. He got the last bottle!

Nightfall1983 · 19/07/2012 20:10

frilly So sorry to hear about your dog, not the kind of upset you need right now?

lynnie We're going to see Hockey too! We're going on Sunday 29th - how about you? Also have tickets to the football in Coventry and have tickets to paralympic rowing but not expecting to make that one as it's 7 days after due date...

So had the midwife today for 34 week check (34 + 5), all's well :-) Baby is head down still but not even thinking about engaging. I am not surprised as he/she is still spinning really. I can't tell what posn baby is in myself but notice that the posn of most movements varies day-to-day... So next appt in 2 weeks - hotting up now. Starting to feel cheerful again as the end is in sight...

I had a reasonable nights sleep again last night, had to get up to pee but hardly turned over at all. I def think keeping the windows open is the way to go from now on - even if it's raining!!

eightieshopaholic · 19/07/2012 20:23

Midwife told me to only start raspberry tea when 37 weeks 36+5 today and have had 2 cups what amount should I be drinking??

Any other tips to bring on quicker, have family over from abroad next week for 2 weeks so really would like to do everything possible to try and bring on in next two weeks.

ishopthereforeiam · 19/07/2012 20:28

Thanks for the feedback on names justine and west

I had olympic tickets but sadly only to the football (the event I least wanted tickets to!) and now won't be able to go at all but dh will go with some friends so at least he gets to experience something to do with the thing which seems to be bringing London to its knees!

white I think I used to knock back about 4 of those capsules a day at least. DD was a week early but no idea if due to the capsules although the raspberry is meant to help the uterus contract or something?

Good to hear people have had positive waxing experiences, going to call and book tomorrow!

ALso - went to the cinema last week (first and prob last time for ages) was fine in the chairs and no loo breaks but urge everyone not to watch Killer Joe! The weirdest film ever!

Lovemarmite · 19/07/2012 20:46

ham I think the left is more comfortable for LO but my hips hurt badly and end up on the right a lot of the time and then LO kicks into the mattress. Argh need to take my theraline pillow in to bed tonight and experiment again... Trouble is, more layers and I end up sweatier which is going some!

My swollen feet are very sweaty, is anyone else getting this too?
Thinking of a foot bath but there has to be limit in what I buy! Grin

Whiteangel · 19/07/2012 21:08

Could you improvise with a washing up bowl?

forgetfulmrs · 19/07/2012 22:00

Evening ladies

We are expecting a girl and have more or less settled on Darcey. My DH doesnt love it yet but I let him choose the name Harry for our DS so its my turn this time. I also like Amber and Layla but DH is just too conservative he cant handle either of those!

I tried a little trim of my..... erm lady garden this morning and nearly injured myself! So think I should leave it to the professionals.

frilly sorry about your dog, good that you have such recent happy memories.

Its comforting to know I'm not the only one getting no sleep, I listen to audio books on i-pod during the night which helps keeps me sane. I do have an almost 3 year old boy to chase around after all day but still think that's easier then having to drag myself into the office on a daily basis. So hats off to all those not on maternity leave yet!

tashaw28 · 19/07/2012 22:20

Ours will def be nameless!! We can't decide on anything, yet, I still think I'm more likely to get my choices in labour or just afterWink

Have booked my wax for next thurs, will be 36+5 but going on a mini break with the kids on the saturday and there's a pool there and want to swim so it's a necessitary!

PictureThis · 20/07/2012 09:13

Raspberry leaf tea is fine to take from 32 weeks pregnant starting with 1 cup per day and increasing it to 3 cups per day from 36 weeks. It helps with nausea too but I tend to use the tea pigs peppermint teabags for that.

I've been getting some discomfort under my ribs especially on the left side which I never suffered with when pregnant with DD as she was engaged so early. The fact he isn't and he is a long baby is bound to result in me being uncomfortable. It's not helped by this cough that seems to have been left behind by the cold I had. Never mind, not much longer.

We have a name for our boy, he is going to be called Thomas Michael William. We like Alexander but the Scottish shortened version with our surname would make him the subject of ridicule! We've got used to calling him Thomas now so to change it would feel odd.

susiegrapevine · 20/07/2012 09:18

Hey all did not sleep to well myself and felt tired when I woke up!
Dh has made a f**k up at work and now him going full time while I'm on maternity is not looking likely! Waiting to see if he has to go to hr! Would care but it was a stupid mistake I think he know it too! I was cross and upset I think he knew I was cross but I had a little cry to myself while he was in the bath with ds. Was looking forward to the extra cash.

frilly sorry to hear about ddog :(

Sooo tired and going out for a work do tonight!

ishopthereforeiam · 20/07/2012 09:29

Oh no susie sorry to hear that, hope your DH's work situation gets sorted soon...

Another day another call from the mw, this time (after the 3rd time they found blood in my urine) they have finally found that I do have an infection (after saying twice I don't) so off to GP to get some emergency antibiotics today.Sad

7 days to go - so worried have forgotten stuff from hospital bag!
