quickchat · 18/07/2012 21:01

Sorry, believe it or not, I wasn't finished......

Names - Is anyone fessing up? I don't mind if anyone steals mine or even says - yuck, don't do it. I like genuine opinion. Im a Libra so I can't make up my own mind.

Girls - I started with Emma but my DS is Evan, too similar, Id be tongue tied. Then it was Sara, then it was Georgina, then Francesca, then Jessica. I do realise they all end in 'a' and I have no idea why im drawn to that. My DD is Olivia!

Any opinions?

Boys - I HAVE NOTHING, seriously nothing. What am I going to do? Ive dismissed every boys name known to man Hmm.

ImissMiniPop · 18/07/2012 21:02

Hey ladies, it's so exciting reading about all your preparations for the arrivals, haven't really had much time to post (or read all posts) since MiniPop came home, but do try and keep up when I can...

I just wondered if we should start an August Post Natal thread now that it's not just me who's popped? Then it'll all be ready for those who arrive.. :)

McBaby - good luck, take paracetamol and if the pains go away it's BH, if the pain doesn't go away it's probably time to get excited.

ishop congrats on the house exchange, ours is a complete mess so we've decided to rent instead (as you know), so we're renting surrey way too.. can I join the meet up? :o

Had a fun evening of little one not getting to sleep, then a day of pee, explosive poo and vomit... haven't slept much so feel shattered! Where on earth is the instruction manual?

ishopthereforeiam · 18/07/2012 21:06

Needles that sucks, how long will he manage to take off using paid and unpaid leave?

Thanks Susie that's so helpful! I'll disinfect it and all should be fine touch wood. Also so impressed you even had the time and energy to do all of the clay figures in the first place - sorry they didn't turn out well although the chimney sweep look is very in I hear.

3bears I really struggle to walk now - even just to the nearest train station which used to be a 5/6 min walk which now takes me 15-20 mins very slow walking and am shattered!

quick hope you're feeling better? I don't think I've had pains like that although I've had stabbing pains and also very achy sharp pains at the bottom of the bump if I've been walking.

My belly button is flat! It's usually an innie but flattened out a while ago, also looks awful as in my younger days I had a belly button ring so there's a horrible stretched out hole above it!

I actually love outies and have been dying for mine to become an outie - I know that makes me a freak. It is getting smaller and shallower every week, tis nearly there now! Everyone else (in the world?) hates outies. I secretly hope baby has an outie...

quick (I think it was you) Good theory about lots of fresh air making sleep better, last night when I had the amazing sleep we did have windows open and a lovely thru breeze.

Just came back from the cinema. I don't recommend it at this stage!! It was very uncomfortable for several reasons: Had to go to the loo 4 times, partly this was due to having a sore tummy at the beginning which might have been caused by the pub dinner before-hand (tho I did have chips and a salad, you'd think it'd be ok). The seat was very uncomfortable for an extended period of time. Towards the end when I'd finally been to the loo enough and wriggled my way into a comfortable position, baby started doing stretches Angry.

Names: haven't told anyone this yet but I guess it's ok to tell you lot Grin. If we have a boy he will be called Theodore Henry Oliver R. If we have a girl she will be called Maria Haven't-decided-on-a-middle-name-yet R...

Loupee · 18/07/2012 22:21

quick didn't realise you were at North Berwick, just down the road from me. My sis was camping there at the weekend and BIL got some amazing photos around Bass Rock and of North Berwick itself. He can do this thing with his camera that makes it look like a toy town, so awesome, I'm going to get him to print so e off for me. Anyway hope your feeling better soon, I keep getting Oslo many random pains I wonder how I'll ever tell I'm in labour.
We're down to Elijah or Isaac for our wee guy, wait and see now.
My belly button is still an inny, but only just these days, was always fairly deep though.
poppy you'll be the resident expert by the time we make it onto the ante natal. Hope mini pop is continuing to do well, he'll be walking and talking before you know it :)
Best get off to bed, been feeling to lethargic all day.

Westcountrylovescheese · 18/07/2012 22:55

Mine is a deep inny too and has become shallow... I'd love an outie. Grin

Girls name we would have gone for Claira... but he's a boy and we're having real trouble. Thinking Aran, Seth, or Nathan but we're not sure. Love Samuel but can't use it... any ideas?

susiegrapevine · 18/07/2012 23:35

Yay finished the 2nd lots of clay people they look good and are not burnt! We have Jacob as we know ours is a boy but can't think of a middle name (still not sold on this tho as its a bit too popular at the mo cos of twilight), tho i like Nicolas as well but dh is unsure. If you are stuck for boys names my ds is Eli James, maybe this will help as i don't know anyone on here to see i don't mind if you steal it or the other names.

Crazy all you who like outies lol, i was dreading mine turning into an outie on my last pregnancy but it never did so hoping it won't this time, have heard it does not feel very comfy!

Nightfall you are brave going to the cinema can't even sit on my own sofa without getting uncomfy and having to lie down. Hurting now just sitting typing plus i can pause my tv at home if i need the loo lol!

PictureThis · 19/07/2012 04:42

Awake Angry

NeedlesCuties · 19/07/2012 08:00

Morning all.

DS slept from 6:45pm-6:45am so I am a happy woman Grin

ishop I think DH will be able to get the full paternity period (2 weeks) but only by mixing annual leave and unpaid leave. Means he won't be able to have any more time off till January when new period of annual leave starts. Feel bad for him as he'll be working so hard in the autumn/winter and will only get one day off over Christmas :( But then again, I'll be pretty busy at home too as a SAHM to a 2.5 year old and a newborn!!

Can't remember who mentioned belly buttons:- mine was always an innie, even during DS's pregnancy, turned into an outie a few weeks ago. DS was born with an outie, so there is hope yet for your DC nightfall

Also, can't recall who asked about names:- DS is Adam Nathaniel and we've picked Joel Ezra for a boy and Lydia Elizabeth for a girl. Putting Lydia and Elizabeth together doesn't flow very well, but sort of need to include Elizabeth as a middle name for family reasons.... would love to shorten it in some way though, but will only worry about it if we have a girl. Our cat is Matilda, which is quite a lovely name for a girl too. Anyone is free to steal any of the names I mentioned.

quick I'm getting big sore pains at the top of my bump, sort of not quite under my boobs, slightly more central. Think his/her feet are digging in there and getting sore when I lie down at night on my sides. Would love the pain to go away, or for me to know what it is. Worried that I'll crush the little one Confused

hamncheese · 19/07/2012 08:04

That sucks about paternity needles . Join the group of us who get a shit deal because they aren't taking maternity leave. You'd think if we were claiming nothing our DPs could at least have the two weeks! My DH is taking 2 weeks holidays having not taken any so far this year practically.

Sorry to hear you haven't been able to find out about baby's position yet bears do you have any idea yourself? I can feel the bum in my ribs and also knees and feet up high, but probably only because I do know the head is down so I'm not mistaking bum for head. Maybe you can do some birthing ball bouncing anyway, cant hurt

It's me and scottish who are going to glasgow royal quick ... I think loupee is in edinburgh (think but not sure) so she may be at the same hospital as you? Trial run sounds like a right pain but at least all is well. Also I like Francesca as you get the cutest boy for a girl nickname... frankie! Grin also like Jessica

For names we are confirmed: this baby is an Alexander or a Charlotte. CAN'T WAIT TO FIND OUT WHICH!!

I'm another innie still but a stretched one at that. I'm fine with it though. Here's something odd for you, my linea negra doesn't go through the middle of the button... so I'm asymetrical Shock

loupee Bass Rock is part of my phd as it hosted many a Covenanter prisoner in the 17c... just for info and so I feel there is some point to what I'm doing!

Really like Nathan west ... we were looking at it but know one quite well so decided against. Also Jacob was our 2nd choice for boys susie :)

I had the crappest evening yesterday. Got myself in a right old hormonal state over what we are doing for Christmas this year. My Mum was asking so she could make plans and I needed to discuss with DH but somehow convinced myself it would end up in hurt feelings for some part of the family and us falling out as we will only be having dinner with one side (prior we would split on the day but not now with LO coming). DH had already worked it out though which was good but then we were going to go out for dinner using a groupon. DH calls the restaurant and they actually have the cheek to tell him off for calling at short notice to reserve! He asked if it was ok to book and then come down in half an hour (as instructions said have to book) but it was mid-week at 7 not exactly high time and the guy on the phone was like "OH a heads up would have been good" wtf? If you have a table give us it if not don't. Then he chastised him for asking if he needed a print off of the voucher, saying "well it would be helpful" even though not necessary... if they don't need it why force us to somehow find somewhere with a printer just to have dinner?! argh. So we head out and I put on the ONLY shoes that now fit me (seriously) which are TOMS (canvas, NOT waterproof) and can't find the ONLY jacket that fits me so go with just umbrella. As soon as we step out monsoon season starts and after 2 blocks I am soaked through. Managed not to totally get upset outside but was just like I want to go home, you know when it's just all too much the idea of sitting soaking in a restaurant where the staff were dicks to DH on the phone... just couldn't handle it. So went home cancelled the booking and got pizza in. Was a shit night. Then had to sleep vertical due to reflux for half the night and get the broom to the ceiling AGAIN for the neighbours who moved in 2 weeks ago but still find the need to move furniature around at 2am every. single. night.

Rant over. Sorry sorry ugh! Going to go to the cinema today just for something to do that doesn't over-swell my ankles/involve being outside so I can keep some sanity. I am so so ready for this to be over now! (ignoring nightfalls warnings about cinema but also taking a cushion and not drinking too much...)

Whiteangel · 19/07/2012 08:49

Oh ham! Get a huge bag of minstrels, you deserve them! Thought you meant groupon voucher for Christmas dinner at first!
I thought I wad having trouble sleeping but last three nights it has got much worse. Not insomnia as such just waking myself up over and over again! So snuggly when I lie down that I keep waking up unable to breathe! Really hurts if I don't empty my bladder often enough since baby moved down over the last couple of days. Hope he's going to keep on going and not stop where he is for up to 4 weeks (38 weeks today)!
When it comes to names my favourites are Noah and Rowan. I like Joseph for a middle name. Most if the other boys names mentioned have been on my short list especially Jacob and Elijah. I love Lydia Elizabeth for a girl. I've never taught a Lydia! Our problem is that my mum doesn't like Rowan (opinions please) and my FiL doesn't like Noah, thinks he would get bullied! I tried it out on one of the naughty boys in my class and the worst he could think of is 'where is your boat?' I think it is quite appropriate after this summer's weather! X

hamncheese · 19/07/2012 09:45

I'm getting ben and jerrys when I go to the cinema later white :) Really like both Rowan and Noah, Rowan especially but don't think Noah would be a name to be teased for to be honest. I'd say go with what you want. My MIL didn't like the name picked for her 2nd grandson (DH's nephew) at all but now loves it as it is attached to him. When you show anyone your baby the name will become great even if they didn't like it before I reckon just from being attached to perfect baby!

Loupee · 19/07/2012 09:50

The sun is shining here today Smile first thing I did this morning was put a washing on so I can hang it outside!
I will be at the Edinburgh Royal, hoping to use the birth centre.
ham I had never heard of Bass Rock before this week, but looking into the history of it, it is fascinating. Told DH we need to go for a wee day trip down that way once LO is here. Hope today is a better day for you, sometimes I think Groupon is more trouble than it's worth. What will you be seeing at the cinema?
Loving some of these names whiteangel I know a wee boy Noah, he's about a year old now, so suits his name, I love it. I had a similar response from my MIL about Isaac, she said with a name like that he'll get picked on, but I really can't see it. If any of you can please let me know!

capecath · 19/07/2012 12:36

whiteangel Noah is top of our list! Noah Alexander. And Anna Mae for a girl. We'll also be at Edinburgh Royal quick and loupee and weekipper! Hoping for the birthing centre too although any slight complications and that won't happen... Will definitely be there on or before 14th so who knows we may bump into each other :)

justine09x · 19/07/2012 13:49

Hi all, glad to see some babies being born although am slightly jealous still got 6 weeks to go Envy

Slightly annoyed that midwives in this area cant seem to get their act together to find out my blood results and I was borderline anaemic at 28 weeks and been having some odd symptoms which they think points at low iron. When I had me previous 2 babies in Norfolk they used to do everything like take bloods etc but here in Worcestershire they give you a form and send you waddling off up the hospital to sort out the blood test yourself and then they don't bother to find out results it seems mad to be chasing up everything myself!!!! Sorry rant over its just I now have 4 weeks to get my iron up or no homebirth for me (which is silly because due to fast labours I have no choice??) MOAN OVER!!!!

Glad you got your Strawberry pram sorted I think it was panpipe I had to do exactly the same with my strawberry my local stockist kept delaying the date so I got refund and my lovely Dad picked one up in Norfolk and drove it over for me bless him. Soooooo worth the wait though its a beautiful pram :)

Does anyone know how Mcbaby got on yesterday? was it labour or a false alarm I am dying to know if another bubba is to be added to the list!!

Hope u all and bumps and babies are doing well :) NOT LONG NOW!!!!!!

panpipe · 19/07/2012 14:56

Yes it was me and the Strawberry justine. We put it all together on Tuesday so I feel a lot more confident now that we have it ready!

Rewinding back to our lovely waxing discussion of a few ago...I just tried making an appointment for another one next week - last minute tidy up Grin - and had to phone a few different salons as nobody seems prepared to do it on a 38w pregnant lady. Still waiting for one place to get back to me after they've checked with the manager. Not sure what I'm going to do with my hairy bits if they say no too as I can't see to do it myself lol! I know my usual place near work would be fine to do it but I'm not really up for a trip to London just for that!

frillylemons · 19/07/2012 16:01

My parents' dog (pretty much my dog) has to be put down today Sad Can't stop crying. She is the best dog! DH and I were playing frisbee with her and our little dog on Sunday. Happy memories are good. Poor old Bea.

Westcountrylovescheese · 19/07/2012 16:02

So sorry frilly... Sad

The3Bears · 19/07/2012 16:08

Thanks ham im going to keep going on birthing ball and cleaning floors on all fours Grin become slightly ocd about the floors now. Im not sure sometimes something sticks out right at the top of bump and I think it's his head because it's quite small but then I have been feeling really heavy low down so thinking his head is down Confused will just have to see I suppose.
Our little boy is going to be called Noah Benjamin, I love the name all my family and friends love the name apart from a couple of men but it's our choice really and I think it's lovely :) can't imagine him being called anything else now and ds1 loves the name so v happy with our choice.
Hope you had fun at cinema ham we went on friday night to watch Ice age 4 with ds Grin was quite funny actually and ds loved it but I was so uncomfy from about half way through, didnt need to toilet though all through the film so was quite pleased with that achivement.
Also wondering how mcbaby got on, maybe she has her little baby in her arms right now Envy
Been shopping today and just feel so uncomfortable now, im not waddling but just feel too heavy now to go round shops it's not fun anymore, only 22 days to go sso counting down the days now :)

The3Bears · 19/07/2012 16:10

So sorry frilly what sad news :( x

panpipe · 19/07/2012 16:25

Oh no frilly very sad to hear about your ddog Thanks

ishopthereforeiam · 19/07/2012 16:28

poppy fab idea on the ante natal thread Grin hopefully we'll all be popping over to join you on it soon. Also def - the more the merrier for a meet up although we won't be Surreyways until mid Sept probably so hopefully we can all meet up before Xmas!?

quick i really like Francesca and Jessica (my own name and dd's also end in a's)... we are going for Xavier Aiden xxxx for dstobe but it (first name) gets very negative reactions (!) not had one positive one so far when we've told people Blush

West loving all of those names, we also liked Nathanyal and Aaron for dstobe

Ham love the names, will you abbreviate them? Sorry you've been feeling so shitty - fwiw we have established a tradition of Xmas is just me dh (plus babies), xmas eve is with my fam and boxing day with his as otherwise one fam gets left out of xmas day and gets all upset about it...

Love the name noah white, and dd has the female version of elijah so also love that!

pan thanks 4 the info - am in a right old state and need to get sorted (wax down there plus my highlights) was wondering if people would wax as essentially baby's head is in place now Hmm otherwise will have to do a diy shavey job which will not be pretty (or practical for the c/s as might get uncomfy with teh scar) sorry tmi!

frilly really sorry to hear that, go and give your neice a massive cuddle and hope that helps a little bit x

OP posts:
ffscatmove · 19/07/2012 16:30

Loving everyone's names.... especially Noah, it's a strong but gentle name.
We're thinking of either Harry or Oliver and Katherine or Emily - am a bit put off Harry & Emily though as they've been the most popular names this year every time I check! I love the name George but it has major teasing potential with our surname (those on FB will understand I think!) so has been vetoed.

Let me know how you get on at the cinema ham - I went to see Legally Blonde the musical last night which was a funny feel-good night out but bloody uncomfortable due to seating & complete lack of air con (I seriously thought I was either going to faint or see my ice cream again towards the end [bleurgh] )

justine09x · 19/07/2012 16:50

also loving all the names I have 4 nieces two of which are called Jessica and Frankie (not shortened for francesca) my other niece I named for them as they were running out of ideas and her name in Nyah which is gorgeous and they had the last one which they called Freya which is another name ending in a's for quickchat who likes the 'a' names.

I have also picked an a name and we think know we will call baby girl Amelia Grace I already have DD who is Evie Isabella and DS named Reece so not really a pattern there.

ishop go with what you like I have a friend who has an Xavier and it really suits him so I like it, its different so at least there won't be 4 of them in the same class :)

Just thought i'd share my thoughts xx

Westcountrylovescheese · 19/07/2012 17:23

Ishop, I love Xavier... but DH vetoed it due to Buffy connections. Darn him.
