Poor thing x

Passmethecrisps · 15/07/2012 18:40

horsey if are in any doubt then five your midwife a call - where is the harm? How did you fall?

So tired after last night. Just napped for an hour but think I'll be a bit out of sorts all day.

I was looking at gender neutral stuff - or trying to. I popped into Debenhams yesterday and there was categorically nothing which wasn't gendered. There were some lovely baby grows with spots in bright colours but annoyingly had cutesy pink trim.

TheDetective · 15/07/2012 18:42

Evening ladies!

I can't keep up with you lot! Work keeping me busy!

All tightenings now settled, yay! Feeling better now! Had another busy day at work, culminating in a panicked phone call from the labour ward shift leader which went something like this 'Brady, room 8, run now, I need someone, FAST'. Translated this means, there is an emergency situation, a babys heart rate has dropped and not recovered. Room 8 doubles as an emergency theatre when the main one is in use, which means they are prepping for a section. They basically needed a midwife to scrub at the table.

I'd literally just sat down, with some food, and taken my shoes off (swollen ankles again!) and had answered the phone sans shoes Grin. I don't think I have ever run as fast in my life, I don't even think I had my shoes back on properly! Our labour ward is above the postnatal ward, so I had to run the length of the ward, the corridoor to the stairs, up the stairs, down another coridoor, and through the labour ward.

By the time I got there, I could not breathe. Seriously. I was a midwife with a brady... or more accurately, a tachy! Anyway, all was fine, and I got a bollocking for running! I was like, but you said run! And the shift leader sheepishly said, I didn't mean actually run, just get here now! I think she felt bad because she didn't realise it was me on the phone!

I'm still tired from the run! I am SO UNFIT! Jeez!

Re: kicks, I get most of mine low down, but this last week (from week 23) they have been all over, nothing higher than my belly button though! My belly wobbles and moves with the kicks, and they can be felt by everyone now. I'm loving my little bump now! I was a bit worried when I seemed to get a bump, but it was that inbetween 'fat' stage. Now I pretty much look pregnant in my clothes. And, even better, the, um, overhang flab from my previous section has lifted, and I look in better shape than I ever had. I don't even feel like a fat bird now!

Am still without weight gain. Getting worried at the fact that I'm bound to start putting it on soon, and it means it will go on rapidly, and my stretch marks will increase 10 fold. I had them really bad in the past. They flare up now and then as I do fluctuate with my weight - been size 12-20 in last 3 years!

I've returned half the stuff I bought in the sale today! Couldn't justify spending £183 on the DP's credit card! Got some lovely little bits though!

I was driving home earlier, and started to shed a few tears, just thinking about this baby, and how much it is loved already. How soft! I think my hormones are all over, as I've found myself enjoying the babies in work. Normally they don't make me broody or anything, I'm just more of an adult person. But I found myself giving lingering cuddles today! What has come over me ;)

Chunkychicken · 15/07/2012 19:40

My DD must have too many clothes because they (mostly) look like new, so she can't wear them that much can she??! Blush Although a few get stains on & chucked out when she's done...

blonderthanred · 15/07/2012 19:44

Wow, can't believe we're nearing a new thread again.

I really liked the Vista fwiw, good choice those who are going for that. Just still preferred my Cosatto!

On the subject of visible kicks, I've been able to see mine pretty much since they started - and DH could see them before he could feel them! However I think this may be because of my wobbly tummy - on someone with a more toned stomach those ripples wouldn't be visible I guess.

I am looking for gender neutral stuff too, bought a lovely stripey Jellycat jingle elephant, completely non-practical and unnecessary waste of money but I had a bit of a mushy moment.

horseylady · 15/07/2012 20:10

I slipped on fecking chicken poo outside my stable!! I didn't even know I'd slipped till I hit the floor it was so fast.

Dh said not to worry too much I'm not bleeding, I've eaten the babies as active as ever so just take it easy! If anything changes were going to a&e but all normal apart from feeling sore and annoyed!!

Detective- did you put your shoes back on!! Got visions of you skidding down the corridor lol!!

Yes happy with the decision we've made!! It is a personal one though!!

Right need to pack for this holiday!!! Spent 46 in next on three bikinis and a dress earlier :)

horseylady · 15/07/2012 20:15

Blonder - I've been able to see the kicks for about 5 weeks? My belly was reasonably flat and toned before pregnancy! My core was pretty good (thanks to a superb trainer who just yelled if I looked like stopping - must see if he's available for the labour lol)

Mum bought a very cute all in one baby grow thing!!! With a striped bum and pony on it :)

blonderthanred · 15/07/2012 20:42

Oh horsey, that's really interesting, I genuinely thought it was because I was fat. You are clearly pretty much the fittest person on here so I am in honourable company!

Maybe we just have kicky babies, or maybe it's the placenta, although I am confused about mine - the notes said ANL and the mw confirmed that meant Anterior, yet my sonographer (who wrote the notes) definitely said it was at the back. So I am not sure what to think. All my kicks are front and below though, mostly the same spot as Fatima (I think), just below and to the left of my bellybutton with some on the right and a couple above. And lots of dancing on my bladder, ouff. Mysterious.

mrswee · 15/07/2012 20:59

YW 'I have a theory that the best man to bag is a nice one whose last relationship was with a high maintenance nightmare lady' hehe
er yes that is what I did... I married a man who had had just that.. seems to have worked out for me :)

horsey I am sure you will be ok. poor you what a pain.
I slipped in the bath when pregnant with DD, I went down so hard that I actually knocked the new bath right away from the wall and pulled the shower curtain rail out of the ceiling. I landed on my back and left bum cheek and made a massive crash giving me, my DH and my neighbours a big fright! we were very worried obvously and phoned my doctor straight away excpecting him to say go straight to hospital ect.. he just asked how I landed and then assured me we'd be fine but also told me to watch for any bleeding as a precaution but was very sure there wouldn't be any. He said if I'd landed on my bump even then it would be fine but might want to be checked over for my own reasuarance... so I guess they are very well protected!!

horseylady · 15/07/2012 21:15

Mrswee thanks for that. I feel ok just stiff!! No bleeding no tightening!!

Blonder our babies seem to kick in a similar fashion lol I felt them at 15 weeks, dh at 18 and we saw them at 19 weeks. People at work have been able to see for the last 2 weeks!!

StuntNun · 15/07/2012 21:24

I have a pretty bad day with DD. She is having lets just say an issue with terrible twos, she has driven me to the edge of insanity today.. everything is a problem or issue. Today she hates mummy and thinks daddy is ok but not that all that! Nothing i do is right, sometimes daddy gets it right. I was crying when she went to bed.
DH put her to bed as she didnt want me near her. Then she screamed the house down for a cup of milk that she'd refused earlier. She couldn't have it becuase she was in bed with her teeth brushed. DH went in a couple of times and told her nicely no, she carried on and I went in and she wated a cuddle and song, it settle her and I felt a bit better but I just don't quite know how to cope with this right now.. I should be lifting her but I've had to screaming and kicking a few times today.
In sainsburys earlier she kept losing it at this and that she wanted, DH calmed her and she was being good, saying im being good them set off again. she sat on the floor at the checkout screaming and throwing her wellies around while we put out shopping through and ignored her everyone was looking but I am beyond embarresment!!

TheDetective · 15/07/2012 21:52

Iheartpasties · 15/07/2012 23:43

TheDetective · 15/07/2012 23:45

Pramworld/ Winstanleys?? www.pramworld.co.uk

GTbaby · 16/07/2012 00:49

detective I actually had the same feeling today. being kicked in bowels was how I was going to post about it. But got distracted by some guests so didn't post earlier. Starting to feel quite big now. I like rubbing my tummy Grin.

Got my next mid wife appointment tomorrow. They will check my iron again as it was a tiny bit low in last result. Also think they may ask me /book me in to do one of those glucose diabetic tests. As it says "28weeks something glucose " on my notes. Can't quite read the writing.

Iheartpasties · 16/07/2012 04:44

detective yes!! thanks :)

Evilwater · 16/07/2012 06:17

Anyone else feeling blue?
I just can't shake this feeling. It might have something to do with working, with the boss and the lady I don't like at all.

Decetive- I'm glad you can still run at work. I could manage a wobble.
Evil

WestWinger · 16/07/2012 07:28

mrswee maybe it is a full moon, but my otherwise good as gold DD (2.9) has been a blooming pain as well (understatement). My mantra is 'this is just another phase and it too shall pass'. Embarrassing though they can be, tantrums are a part of being a toddler - sounds like you are handling it very well. Hope both our DDs are in a better mood today......

DesperateHousewife21 · 16/07/2012 07:30

mrswee 2 is a difficult age isn't it?! My ds has only just turned 2 but everything is wrong and he says no to things I know he wants really they're just testing their limits but doesn't make it any easier for us!

StuntNun · 16/07/2012 07:36

Just a reminder that the new thread is here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/1518656-November-2012-baby-shopping-time-has-really-taken-off

Mrswee my two were awful at that age, I used the Incredible Years book by Carolyn Webster-Stratten to get them in line. It's a system of play, rewards and time-outs that you use to encourage good behaviour.
