My placenta is on the back wall at the top so should be feeling big strong kicks. I think I'm just more paranoid because potentially this baby could have a growth restriction and in worried the small kicks = small baby.

ValiumQueen · 15/07/2012 09:51

I would not worry. You are feeling movements. Mostly mine are low down, sometimes up the top. Just depends where baby feels most comfy. They still have a lot of room to swim about at the moment. Have you tried gently pressing and holding the top of your bump? I usually get a poke in response.

GTbaby · 15/07/2012 10:09

Good morning folks.

dh21 all my kicks r very low down. Into my bits. Or lower tummy. Nothing close to my belly button at all. My scan guy said baby was normal size for this stage.

Went to mums yesterday. N she said I deff look preg rather then fat. Made me happy. Also said I didn't look like I'd put on weight on my face. My mother is biggest critic so I know she is telling truth Grin

can't decide what to do today. Getting out of bed is step one I guess!

Passmethecrisps · 15/07/2012 11:05

Good morning,

I am a very grumpy passme this morning. Went to bed at 11:30 last night and suffered the worst indigestion ever last night. At 3am I was pacing about chewing gum and hunting about for remegel. I found some rinitidine and dr google said it was ok to take. Tool that and propped myself up in bed. By the time I felt ok to sleep my back was throbbing. The only position I could get comfortable in was on my back. It was 4am before I got any sleep.

It doesn't really matter as I have no DC and no need to get up. Still grumpy though.

Ditsy we were hoping to get the uppababy. I have tried the iCandy and on both occasions the handle wobbled. Maybe just bad luck. My other issue is all the different kinds - apple, peach, pear, cherry, strawberry . . . I am lazy and if I have to work that hard to understand which one to get then I lose interest. It's such a personal thing though.

DH I spoke to my sonographer about low movements. She said that baby was quite low but not unusually do and that some just prefer it down there. My movements have really changed over the last week so I reckon there is a lot of shifting about happening. Baby's favourite move is a tap dance/headstand on my bladder and cervix. Trying to explain to DH why I knew it was my cervix was hard going.

I had a good read of my book last night looked at the pictures of cute babies and feel much more relaxed. Fingers crossed I have weeks and weeks left of incubation so plenty of time to learn stuff.

Found a pregnancy yoga class locally (one which runs after the working day) so I am looking forward to trying that.

DesperateHousewife21 · 15/07/2012 11:15

Thank you for the reassurance ladies :) I'm sure in a couple of weeks the baby will be kicking the life out my lungs!

My friend (who is 4 weeks behind me) and I are going to start aqua natal next month which will be good. I didn't do anything like it with ds and really want to give it a go this time. Will give me an evening out as well!

Dixiebell · 15/07/2012 11:18

ditsy, I have the iCandy peach and love it. DS is 21 months and we still use it fine, and can't wait to get carrycot back out to use again with this little'un. However my friend also has it, her DS is a few weeks older but he's v big, and she says he won't fit in it any more. He is pretty chunky and tall, looks more like a 2.5 yr old. So I think yes it is a bit less roomy than some, but suited us fine, I don't think we'd still be using it for DS in a year as he likes to walk these days. We're thinking of a buggy board for when ds2 comes along.

FatimaLovesBread · 15/07/2012 11:47

The movements I feel are all quite high, normally just below my belly button to the left. Baby seems to spend a lot of time transverse across my middle. I've got a anterior placenta but not sure where. Kicks are always on the left some maybe on the right or lower down Confused

WRT premie babies, just wanted to add a bit of a positive story. DHs cousin had a baby who was born at 23+4. The hospital they were at decided to save her despite hey being before the 24 week mark. She was tiny and in hospital ages but she's absolutely fine, a little miracle. By the age two she was fully caught up with her cousin who was born 2 weeks after her at full term. She's never had an health or development problems so they were really lucky. Their second little girl went on to full term top.

We're going car shopping today!

Also, does anyone want a 32E maternity bra? Got a brand new one going spare. Should have known my robs had expanded roo much for a 32 (and the fact my boobs are more like an F) Let me know if anyone wants it.

ValiumQueen · 15/07/2012 11:54

Amazing story of the pre-24 weeker. Impressive the hospital intervened. Very very rare though.

YellowWellies · 15/07/2012 11:59

Passme glad to hear it's not just me who's given up on the iCandy range because I can't fathom which one to get. All those make and model specs are clearly designed to appeal to techy dads! We're off south to go buggy test driving at the end of this month. Whoop!

I've been feeling kicks for a while now (quite often low down near my bladder) or bum shoves and pirouettes (up near the top of my bump) but today was the first time DH got to feel a couple of kicks. He was dead chuffed.

I have to say he is a diamond at the moment, he's decided the best way he can make the pregnancy feel real for him is to get stuck in with jobs I can't do - yesterday he built a wardrobe and chest of drawers (for us so we can put some boxes away), today he is digging beds and strimming in the garden, cleaning the rayburn and putting a hanging basket up for me (basically he's got a long to do list) so I can sit on my arse Blush as I was suffering after my antenatal class yesterday (clearly my deep core muscles don't get much use!!!). Anyone would think he wanted some shore leave to go fishing and play footie this afternoon....

Think I'm going to treat him to a big roast dinner when he gets home. He's one of those blokes who you want to meet their ex-girlfriends and thank for training him so well. Or perhaps it's just that before DH I went out with such absolute pricks and plonkers that he keeps being a pleasant surprise....

YellowWellies · 15/07/2012 12:04

Amazing story of the pre-24 weeker - so rare though. I think my niece has 40:60 odds of no long term problems at 27 weeks - at 23 weeks that must be something like 5:95! Very lucky to survive. Also it seems that if you have a premmie girl they are much tougher than boys and more likely to survive.

Any members of team yellow having clearer inklings of gender? I've always thought we're having a girl but am also thinking it could be a boy now. And good news - DH has decided that he likes my first choice names for both boys and girls!!!!! (He ruled out Gabriel) but the name I came up with after and love more for a boy, he loves!

FatimaLovesBread · 15/07/2012 12:16

YW I agree it is rare. There was an article on her in the guardian, I'll see if I can find it later.

We're team Yellow. We've been calling it a girls name and her when we talk about it but I think it's a boy for some reason. When we go shopping we both hone in on boys clothes so god knows what we'll do if it is a girl.
We've got about 30 boys and girls names that I don't mind that we need to go through. Going to try get a short list beforehand then choose one after.

FatimaLovesBread · 15/07/2012 12:20

Here's the story, it was 23+6 she was born at amazing!

Passmethecrisps · 15/07/2012 12:21

That story of the 23 week birth is amazing! That's like me giving birth yesterday. There will always be positive and negative stories for every situation. However, I am looking forward to hitting the 24 week milestone just to feel he would have half a chance.

YW I don't like to be made to work too hard for my purchasing decisions! DH has been sitting here checking out Which best buys and both the Uppababy and the iCandy do really well. He likes the Uppababy because it's not fussy.

I am team yellow (or beige if you try to buy non-gendered clothing) and I had a gut feeling I am having a girl. Most of the old wives tails point towards it begin a girl and the between the leg shots at the scan showed absolutely nothing. MIL, however, reckons the scan pic shows it with a wee boy's face! I have no preference and am quite keen on staying yellow. I suspect that DH is crumbling and would like to know now.

Strange that I always refer to baby as a he when I feel that it is a girl. He just comes out easier than she.

NervousAt20 · 15/07/2012 12:22

Morning ladies :) thank you for your reassurance last night that I'm not just a hormonal fruit :) DP decided to phone at half 4 for a lift Hmm] he got a taxi and slept down stairs and the dog decieded to join him so had an uncomfortable few hours while I had the huge bed to myself Grin haha

RE kicks last night my little one was long metal and could see from the outside again so was really nice to watch but most of the time she's really low down and feel like she's kicking to escape

I don't want eastenders anymore, after that baby swap stuff I stopped watching it and have never bothered since.

24 weeks today :)

ValiumQueen · 15/07/2012 12:32

I saw kicks just now. Pretty impressive as I am a tad lardy. They were mighty hard kicks.

YellowWellies · 15/07/2012 12:38

Awwww am envious about the visible kicks! Maybe I should lift the bed covers and look tomorrow morning (usual favourite tap dancing time) lazy momma

Amazing story of the 23 weeker! Truly beautiful but little un' I don't want to see you until October at the earliest....

YellowWellies · 15/07/2012 12:39

Oh speaking of 'Which?' I've got a month's free trial (and will cancel just before this is up to avoid being charged) so if anyone wants me to check out which best buys for anything... shout!

Passmethecrisps · 15/07/2012 12:42

The only time I have seen movement is in the bath. I could see the bump moving. Whenever I think "oh, he's busy, let's take a peak" he stops moving altogether.

We are off to Stirling Pram Centre today to have a wee play. Exciting!

Passmethecrisps · 15/07/2012 12:44

YW you will become obsessed! My DH refuses to buy things unless they are a Best Buy.

I can also check for people. It's handy just to have a frame of reference for some things.

DesperateHousewife21 · 15/07/2012 12:45

Ive been seeing visible kicks since about 20 weeks and dh felt it for the first time at 20 weeks when we were in Spain.

YellowWellies · 15/07/2012 13:05

Scottish mainland Mums (can you tell I'm meant to be cleaning house today whilst DH does 'man' jobs!!!! but instead keep sneaking on MN) where are the good pram / pushchair shops in the Central Belt? I'd like to be able to see as many as possible under one roof? Will be staying with sis in Fife - is there anywhere good closer than Stirling?

Chunkychicken · 15/07/2012 13:09

Can a Which-er check any up whether they have a double-buggy recommendation for me please? Still not sure whether we'll get one, & probably won't buy until the Autumn anyway, but it'd be worth knowing a good option if I spot one on eBay when we finally get WiFi going again. Thank you!! Thanks

ValiumQueen · 15/07/2012 13:17

There are two good pram shops on grahams road falkirk, one is jan stewart I think, and there is a nice mothercare and also a smiths in the retail park. Falkirk would be no further coming from fife. Stirling pram centre is good but never open when I go there. I never make a special trip, just turn up on the random bank holidays that scotland is so good at.

YellowWellies · 15/07/2012 13:18

Righty ho....

Which best buy double buggies are:

Bugaboo donkey duo (71%)
Mammas and papas voyage twin (68%)
Cosatto you2 twin (64%)
Baby Jogger city select double (63%)
Baby Jogger city mini double (61%)

ValiumQueen · 15/07/2012 13:22

I would go for the babyjogger. Would a tandem be better for you chicken? Or second hand as you would not use a side by side double for long unless you plan to be back on the nest in the near future? I think it is you with a DD same age as mine?
