Yep, totally second that feeling sirenetta, just feel yuck all the time. My DH has a hangover today and is laying about not doing anything and whinging. I tried to point out to him that is how I feel ALL THE TIME at the moment, but he isn't totally sympathetic!!

Hope things get better for those of you having a tough time at the moment...

dreamydays · 01/07/2012 18:31

Feeling better today thanks. Spotting seems to have stopped so concluding it must just have been caused by the scan. Have stayed away from the internet all day - Google can be so scary.

On the plus side I've read a whole book this w/e (The Memory of Love by Aminatta Forna - highly recommend it); I never normally get to read. A weekend relaxing has done me so much good.

Sirenetta - agree re getting to July. Next stop August and then hopefully the secrecy/worry/unexplained chubbiness come to an end!

Fidget - not a fair message to leave on a Fri pm, poor you!

dreamydays · 01/07/2012 18:34

PS morecoffee like idea of dream about quads!

Just off to open some s+v crisps...

carries · 01/07/2012 18:47

sirenetta I'm with you on feeling grotty all the time. So so so tired! My DDs are on summer hols now & I usually would have lots of fun stuff planned but too tired & ill, to do much more than the basics. Feel like crying. One of my friends (earth mother type - 2 home births, breast fed till kids were 3) stated that nausea in pregnancy was mind over matter!! That statement is making me feel worse! I know what this friend is like - she can't empathise very well so I'm not offended.

carries · 01/07/2012 18:49

Should clarify that I'm not against earth mother types (have had 2 straight forward deliveries in hospital & breast fed till 6 months) but this woman can't understand other mothers lack of "perservance" with childbirth & breast feeding Hmm

Pinkie29 · 01/07/2012 19:44

carries send your friend my way I'll soon show her it's not mind over matter haha!

I think each to their own with parenting but do get annoyed with the preachy ones who make out every second of being a parent is a joy and if you don't think that way too then your a bad mum!

sazzababs · 02/07/2012 05:33

Urgh, I've just been woken up by the spew-monster :/ I know it's called morning sickness, but come on, 5.20am?!! Meh...

queenrollo · 02/07/2012 08:29

I'm a mother earth type and I failed spectatularly with breasfeeding DS....struggled to 8 weeks, and then moved onto bottles/formula. I do know some of the type your friend is though and I think they are bad for the self-esteem of other mothers who might be struggling. I seriously think anyone who can make such a statement about 'mind over matter' never had a rough time of it.
I was told by one friend that I would enjoy my pregnancy with DS more if I got out in the summer sun and took a daily walk along the river. She really didn't understand how crippling SPD is.....she got short shrift from me.

somethingwittynot · 02/07/2012 09:24

SPD is one of the most painful things ever mines creeping back in already Sad i to struggled to bf due to the fact i had no help and DS is tounge tied. im determiend to ask for more help with this DC.

queenrollo · 02/07/2012 09:42

well i'm employing a doula this time who offers post-natal breastfeeding support, so hopefully will be more successful. I'm not going to beat myself up if i just can't do it though. DS was a silent refluxer - completely missed and undiagnosed by my HV and GP who insisted he was just a 'sicky baby'....

WhatWillSantaBring · 02/07/2012 11:31

After getting slightly paranoid at the weekend that I was symptom free (and desparately trying to remember when the MS and sore boobs started with DC1, I have been hit with my first waves of nausea this morning. So Smile and Sad at the same time Grin.

Sea bands have gone on (I put them in my handbag when I got my BFP) but now I'm cursing the fact that I told EVERYONE in the office about how amazing they were last time round... At least its chilly today and I'm wearing a jumper.

Just about to pluck up courage to ring the midwives. My midwife for DC1 was lovely, but I've heard nothing but bad stories about the midwife in my new area. (We've moved since). Oh well... at least in theory I'm a bit less clueless this time around!

something - I struggled to bf first time round due to a tongue tie that wasn't spotted for the first three weeks. I'm going to be looking out for it this time, but apparently not every trust routinely snips them.

WhatWillSantaBring · 02/07/2012 11:34

Oh yes, and another salt n vinegar fiend here. That and wasabi flavoured popcorn (seriously). Had a bag of each already this morning, although in an effort to maintain svelte pre-pregancy figure not get even more porky I am eating the "lower calorie" version - squares being my favourite at the moment.

freerangelady · 02/07/2012 11:43

Hi People.

Anyone else feel really weird that no one has actually confirmed the pregnancy yet?! I just wish I knew there really was something in there. My nausea has been loads better this last few days so the only symptoms I've got are being a bit fat with massive boobs now!

Hopefully should get my scan date this week. I just keep having horrible thoughts that I'll get to the scan and there'll be nothing there. Totally unreasonable!

dreamydays · 02/07/2012 12:47

freerange - yes totally until I had scan on Fri. I was actually worried Dr would take a look and say "what are you talking about, it's all in your head". She didn't tho!

queenotd haven't seen you on here for a while and remember you were having major sickness - are you ok?

Pinkflipflop · 02/07/2012 13:01

I had my first doctors appointment this morning associated with my pregnancy, basically to get me in the system.

Anyone know how long after this it will be until I get an appointment with the midwife?

I woke up this morning feeling really queasy and put those sea sickness bands on, definitely seemed to take the edge off the nausea. Will take that a day at a time.

When does the sickness hit its peak?

orangewellies · 02/07/2012 13:27

I must try the sickness bands, as the nausea is getting worse day by day - pink it peaks 8 - 10 weeks so i'm steeling myself up for the next few weeks, am finding everyday chores so hard, i keep having to stop and eat to kurb the nausea.

Told my BF this weekend, the only other person apart from DH who knows, so that made it feel slightly more real!

WhatWillSantaBring · 02/07/2012 13:27

Pink it depends on the area (and the efficiency of your midwife). Last time I saw the GP at 6 wks and then heard NOTHING at all until 9+5 - then had my booking in appointment at 10 weeks and scan at 12+2.

Most areas (I think) do the booking in appointment (which is the really boring one with reams of paperwork and hardly anything to do with your pregnancy) between 7 and 10 weeks. You should then get scanned and have various blood tests between 11 and 13 weeks, depending on whether your area does the NT scan (which I think has to be done before 13 weeks). It feels like an age and really does depend on the midwife. A friend got booked in at 6 weeks -far too early IMHO. I'd hate to have to go through all that only to loose the baby.

morecoffeemorecoffee · 02/07/2012 13:35

freerange I still can't believe I'm pregnant! Just did another test and a big bold pink positive line came up instantly! It even came up before the control line! Grin

freerangelady · 02/07/2012 13:47

morecoffee (unfortunate name at the moment, I'm a missing my large americanos something chronic!) I have been known to do the odd extra test too!

Think it's partly because the internet can be a scary place. I didn't even know that mmc existed before the net.

Want2bSupermum · 02/07/2012 13:48

Well this weekend was spent with my head in my books. The obn appointment went well but I have to go back because they like to do a scan at 8 wks to ensure everything is viable. I then get booked in for the 12 wk scan at the hospital. Will have to do all of these appointments on my own this time as DH doesn't have enough vacation to cover these visits and his working hours 8am-4.30pm don't work with the hospital hours of 7.30am - 4.30pm.

AuroraOrtiz · 02/07/2012 14:44

Glad you're feeling better Dreamy!

I just a text for an appointment with a midwife that i hadn't been told about! It's next Monday 9th July - so must be this booking in whatsit? My 12 week scan is on 13th august. What will they do at this Monday appointment? Not scan me? Just weigh me and tell me stuff? I can't get my head around what is happening! All I've done so far is see the doctor, but that wasn't very informative, he just said congratulations!

freerangelady · 02/07/2012 15:13

Aurora - I had mine last friday. They took 3 vials of blood and did a urine sample. Then they made me fill in a million forms and gave me loads of gumpf to take away. Very little of it was useful info - it was more money off vouchers for ocado than anything else.

MW did go through some basics with me about what to eat etc and as I have a random job we went through some issues about what I should and shouldn't do.

Then she filled out all the paperwork which effectively got me booked in for the scan,

Be warned, the whole thing took over an hour!

AuroraOrtiz · 02/07/2012 15:28

Thanks Freerange - oh blimey, better think of a good excuse for why I'm disappearing at work then! What was the blood for?

MammyToMany · 02/07/2012 16:12

Hello everyone,

Can I join please? I found out a couple of days ago that I am pregnant with DC4 Shock I have only had one period since having ds3 - he's 12 months old now. Totally shocked, especially as Dp and I split up a month ago.

I had no idea I was pregnant and only did a test because I found one in a drawer from ds3 and decided to wee on it for fun Hmm I have no symptoms apart from being tired which I put down to being a single mother with 3 boys.

I went for a dating scan today and I am 9+1 due on the 3rd February. I got to see his or her heart beat and little legs waving around (well stumps rather than legs lol)

Haven't managed to make a doctors appointment yet but I must get round to doing it.

I'm 29 and have 3 wonderful boys, I don't expect bringing up 4 children alone to be easy but I'll give it my best shot Smile

AuroraOrtiz · 02/07/2012 16:18

welcome mammy - wow that must have been a shock - Congratulations! :)
