Hi everyone, as we were close to the 1000 message limit i thought i should start a new thread so we could link this one (and we don't all end up wandering in cyberspace for a few days again Grin)

OP posts:

Well, I'm due in 22 so that's out the window then. Just got to hope they'll let him have a day or two to be at the birth! They were pretty cool when he rescheduled his interview because it clashed with the 12w scan

SpottyTeacakes · 26/06/2012 21:45

I'm sure they will be happy to work something out Smile

brooke89 · 26/06/2012 21:55

Welcome bunty Smile

I think I can see my belly moving, is this possible? I felt a few flutters last night Blush about half hour after sex and when I looked we could both see my belly twitching?

CODwidow · 26/06/2012 22:07

Most employers are pretty good and he could always use some of his holiday.
Really looking forward to my scan now to find out what baby is.Grin

Bought some unisex baby vests and babygros from eBay today and dh has the day off tomorrow so may have a nose in mothercare Smile

Queenofsiburbia · 26/06/2012 23:17

My boss is my DH and he's offering me a rubbish package (not like that, dirty girls ;) ) and hasn't even got round to my risk assessment yet. I might sue him.

Spotty you gave me an idea. What is everyones first meal? Heres mine:

Pâté on toast
Rare steak and chips with homemade bear aide
Cake mixture
Very ripe Camembert

All washed down with lots of Wine

Oooh feel abit queasy now, sorry. Maybe I'll spread them out abit.

Queenofsiburbia · 26/06/2012 23:18

Bearnaise.

Stupid phone.

MyDaydream · 26/06/2012 23:31

I'm more looking forward to caffeine and not having to think how much I've already had that day. And eggs I love eggs but have completely gone off them so hoping that comes back post birth.
Is anyone else getting leg cramps. I walk 10 minutes from work to the train which includes going up and down a set of stairs. Usually it's a little uncomfortable going up the stairs and my calves are a bit sore but today my legs cramped up halfway into the walk and I was nearly in tears when I got to the platform. Im also taking the lift at work due to discomfort which makes me feel very lazy. Anyone know what I can do to make it more bearable? Cutting out the walk and stairs not possible.

knottyhair · 27/06/2012 06:35

Sorry you're suffering MyDaydream - I haven't really got any advice but hopefully someone else will.
To be honest, foodwise, I'm just looking forward to eating "normally" again. I've completely gone off most cooked veg, so I'm eating a lot of salad. I can stomach peas & broad beans luckily, given the time of year, but the thought of broccoli, and any leafy greens, and cooked carrots - bleurgh!! And I normally love them. So those and also a runny poached egg on toast...
Brooke Envy that you are managing to have a sex life! I'm so knackered and still feel nauseous most of the time (although it is a lot better) - poor DP is being very understanding!

SpottyTeacakes · 27/06/2012 07:50

Mydaydream I'm not sure what you can do, I remember getting bad cramps with dd Sad

I go from being terrified of having two to being really excited. Today is an excited day GrinGrin

I've got to go to next today to return some horrendous maternity jeans I bought. They are massive on me everywhere I don't recommend them Hmm

PurplePidjin · 27/06/2012 08:04

MyDaydream, talk to your dr about ibuprofen gel. Or, get some nice scented oild and massage it thoroughly. Heat helps the muscles relax, could you keep a wheatie bag at work, or one of those stick-on heat patches?

PurplePidjin · 27/06/2012 08:05

PS, I've been drinking coffee, have eaten brie and parma ham and can't stand solid eggs. Am i going to burn in hell?

SpottyTeacakes · 27/06/2012 08:07

Nah you'll be fine, days she washing down a cup of coffee with Pepsi Max....

JoJoB77 · 27/06/2012 08:13

Im drinking decaff tea while at home but normal tea at work/elsewhere. I also had a can of coke yesterday.

I usually love steak, but i've gone off it completely so that will be my first meal all washed down with a glass or two of merlot....

SpottyTeacakes · 27/06/2012 08:16

That should say 'says she' Blush

Stacks · 27/06/2012 08:29

I think tonic water is recommended for cramps? There's something in it that can help, quinine maybe? I've heard of it being recommended by doctors, but don't remember the details! Maybe you could have some with lemon or lime juice?

So, I'm 16 weeks today, but don't see the midwife till the 5th. Going to have to wait till then for a bit of reassurance and hopefully hearing the heartbeat. Glad people's appoint, ents have been going well, I really wish I could get my dh to agree to an early gender scan. Might go try again now.

PurplePidjin · 27/06/2012 08:34

I have a feeling my Mum will rock up with a bottle of bubbles :o

Chloe55 · 27/06/2012 08:56

Pate on toast definitely, I can not wait til Christmas!!! So excited! I have introduced caffeine back into my diet as my headaches were unbearable and I have found it's really helped-not sure if coincidence or not? Read an article saying that eggs are pretty safe, as safe as chicken anyway-even with soft yolk and I eat them regularly, didn't give them up with ds and not giving them up this time either

brooke89 · 27/06/2012 09:38

Pâté on toast with caramelised onion chutney, my friends have promised we can have a Pâté party after baby is here haha

Knotty I've been a right horny goat from about 14 weeks Blush

Clarella · 27/06/2012 10:34

My daydream, I don't know if support socks would help at all as well as lots of massage? Maybe just try some - boots do them.

I've had parma ham, deep fried brie that was still a little soft, 1 runny egg and have to have my 2 cups darjeeling a day (i like to leave the bag in) plus can now eat 70% Choc so having bits of that too...

I did get briefly stressed at dinner party when realised the strawberries used in the 'cocktail' id been guzzling hadn't been washed .... probably a nice dose of rat wee in there!

Still cant stomach broccoli, miss that.

CHRISTMAS PATE! Yum! prosecco, cava and the first bottle of champers will need to be surgically removed from me.

SeymoreButts · 27/06/2012 10:37

I've broken so many food rules, the guidelines in Australia are ridiculous, they're impossible to stick to. I've been having the odd glass of wine too. When I booked in at 13 weeks the midwife said "try not to drink, but if you do, don't drink more than 7 drinks a week" Hmm

I'm really hankering after pâté too, it's not like I ate loads of it before but I could murder some on toast right now!

I had my 16 week check today and I have gained 5kg since getting pregnant!! The GP seemed to think it was fine though, I was 45kg to start with and he said I can expect to gain 18kg by the end I also mentioned that I can't stop drinking coconut water, he said it's good for heartburn and cramps ( mydaydream ) so I've got all the clear to keep knocking it back.

CakeBump · 27/06/2012 10:51

Another pate fan here.... I have sort of been avoiding it, but most other foods I haven't specifically avoided at all. Runny cheese, runny eggs etc, if its there I'll have a bit. I ate a whole punnet of unwashed strawbs from a roadside place the other day cos I was starving....

Saying that, a rare steak and a very large glass of red wine would be a spectacular treat!!

CakeBump · 27/06/2012 10:54

Seymore you were 45kg? That's nothing!! I was 68kg to begin with and am now around 72, so you've still got plenty of wiggle room!!

minipie · 27/06/2012 10:58

Clarella parma ham is now allowed - the NHS website has changed its guidance and now says cured meats like salami and parma ham are ok.

I hope they are right as I ate loooads of cured ham in spain last week!

I also had a slightly pink steak (I'd already sent it back once, didn't feel I could do it twice Blush) and some chevre (pasteurised but still banned even so apparently) so am feeling a bit guilty but reckon it's probably ok.

Seymore coconut water is really good for you, contains loads of minerals, basically it's like a natural version of those rehydration drinks.

My post birth meal is definitely going to be rare steak. I have been desperate for proper bloody red meat for weeks, dammit!

CODwidow · 27/06/2012 11:13

My mw said yesterday rare steak is fine and actually brill for your iron levels as long as its not served blue it's fine but I've also eaten runny eggs as long as I've cooked them.

knottyhair · 27/06/2012 11:17

Sod it, I'm having a runny poached egg tomorrow morning! Seymore, I think I've put on about that and then some! I'd lost 2.5 stone over the 12 months previous to getting pregnant and had really got into my Jillian Michaels DVDs so I was selfishly a bit gutted about the weight gain but I'm adjusting! My eating habits are becoming a bit more normal now the nausea is subsiding a bit - I don't feel the need to munch on hula hoops anymore! And my pregnancy fitness DVDs are calling my name, must make the effort to start doing them.
