Mamma and McKayz's thread!

It's the home run ladies Grin

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ghosteditor · 14/06/2012 08:19

Thank you ladies Blush. I think I will make an appointment - not an emergency one mind! - as I'd like to get some more information. I wonder if NHS direct could help... I just want some facts!

davina you did the right thing re the blue spot - highly recommended that they're recorded for just that reason!

mamma a friend of mine

ghosteditor · 14/06/2012 08:21

Sorry, the rest of my post said:

mamma a friend of mine has a 12 week old daughter who is bf and they use shields for every feed - so don't listen to anyone who tells you that they're not a long term solution! Fantastic that you've found something that works.

Davinaaddict · 14/06/2012 08:36

We're still using the nipple shields too Mamma & Lauren's 10 weeks today. They are a pain in the arse just because of the constant cleaning/sterilising but if it means I can ebf then it's a small price to pay Smile

foolserrand · 14/06/2012 08:44

Morning all! I'm off to mummy dearest's this morning before getting Miss Fliss to get weighed for the first time since she was signed off. 6.5 weeks and huge. I make solid babies.

Anyone want a rottweiller? She's good with kids but if she raids my wanky bin again, I will lose the fucking plot. Normally stunts like this come from my idiot mutt (if anyone has seen "Up", you've got a fair idea of my boy's personality) but this is.....her. Angry

Trouble, the dribble picture was not based on dh (he's not that handsome) but his response was to stick his tongue out at you nonetheless. Sorry!

Davina, its sad when you need to get things like that verified in case some jobsworth accuses you of hitting your baby.Confused

Don't think I've anything left to say now. Anyone with ideas for dinner? Could do pork loin with cous cous and salad or sausage, chips n beans but we had the former earlier on Monday and chips are a Friday thing here. Help!

Davinaaddict · 14/06/2012 09:59

How about a pasta dish? Bolognaise or carbonara? My mum has a yummy carbonara recipe that is sooo easy but very scrummy and really unhealthy Smile. You basically just microwave some cheese with fresh cream until the cheese has melted, chop some cooked bacon into it then add pasta - mmmmm!Grin

foolserrand · 14/06/2012 12:30

That sounds amazing but we had meatballs on Tuesday. Considering chicken and rice in some tomato based sauce from a jar. Needs to be healthy, I will be being dragged by the dog running tonight!

McKayz · 14/06/2012 12:32

Fools I have the Knorr Spanish Chicken, chicken tonight stuff. I absolutely love it.

Been to MW this morning.

MW wouldn't sweep as they aren't allowed before 40 weeks and 1 day!! But she said she would do it next Thursday. But I will be induced on 2nd July. I can't believe they can't do a sweep but can plan inductions.

But all is well. Baby is head down but not engaged.

Davinaaddict · 14/06/2012 12:41

Good to hear all is well. The lack of sweeps sounds a bit bonkers McKayzConfused I'm sure they would if they were looking at early induction if there was a problem for some reason? Really glad that's not the case, of course! Have you managed to get any evening primrose oil yet?

McKayz · 14/06/2012 12:42

Yes I got some but it's done nothing so far.

Davinaaddict · 14/06/2012 12:44

It is fools especially if you use about a pound of cheese like I do Grin

How about jacket potatoes and salad?

ghosteditor · 14/06/2012 13:07

Some sort of breaded chicken thing with pesto? useless at meat recipes.

McKayz · 14/06/2012 13:13

Does anyone want a 3 year old boy? He's very cute to look at. Ever so slightly mad though!! Grin

foolserrand · 14/06/2012 15:56

Got my own, McKayz! He's fab. Totally bonkers and is the proud owner of a new word.... wanker. I fully blame the twat who cut me up on a roundabout. I feel very sorry for granddad dog, he's only falling over! At least he's using it in context though, that's something, right? [hopeful emoticon]

We are having enchiladas for dinner thanks to Mr Potty Mouth. May have to go for a longer wheezing drag run!

Saw my dad today, wasn't expecting to and it kind of threw me. I struggled to look at him. Sunday will be fun, we are spending the day with my parents.

Right, I'm going to test the efficiency of chocolate bribery at wiping a certain little boy's memory.

McKayz · 14/06/2012 16:00

Fools I am tempted by enchildas. It's between that and fajitas.

Davinaaddict · 14/06/2012 16:55

Mmmmm Mexican food! I would be joining you if I had any appetite! But maybe it will help me shift a couple of pounds Wink

Ok McKayz I'm totally stuck with your drawing! Confused The letters are all wrong for my ideas Grin

TroubleAndFyfe · 14/06/2012 17:24

We're having fajitas tonight!Smile
Erm...what else? Sooo many posts and now can't remember anything! Blush

McKayz · 14/06/2012 17:27

We have an amazing Mexican restaurant in the next town. It has huge portions, we always have a takeaway the night DH gets home.

Davina What is it? I can't remember. It could be x-ray.

Davinaaddict · 14/06/2012 18:01

Ah yes it was! Although when I went back in to put the letters in, it jumped straight to my turn!Smile

Love a good portion WinkGrin Of Mexican food of course, you rude people Grin We always have fajitas when I get together with my sister and always do not enough enough to feed an army Grin

MammaInTheMaking · 14/06/2012 19:42

Thanks ghost and davina. If anyone ever suggested that nipple shields weren't a long term solution I'd have to explain that Violet ended up in Special Care when we didn't use them and with them she is putting on weight.... In a few weeks once we're in more of a routine and know what's what we'll try without but I'm not going to stress if she can't go without. Like you say davina the sterilising is a small price to pay to be able to breast feed our babies Smile

Anyone got any tricks to being able to put a baby down to sleep? Violet won't sleep anywhere other than on us and if we put her down once she's nodded off she's awake within minutes letting us know we can't trick her!

Stir fry for dinner for me Grin

TroubleAndFyfe · 14/06/2012 20:13

So glad it's going well now mamma! No tricks here, just let them sleep on you and co sleep at night, at the moment she doesn't even know she's a separate person from you so must be pretty alarming being put down. Just try to forget about everything else, it'll happen when she's ready, I've been able to put Fyfe down since he turned 3 months! Grin

ghosteditor · 14/06/2012 20:24

What trouble said Grin.

We're having fajitas too, I can smell them now - DH is cooking as I try to get J down. She's doing a marathon feed!

Davinaaddict · 14/06/2012 20:31

No sleeping tips here I'm afraid Sad We're still struggling with that aspect, even now! She says as she climbs the stairs again The early days I'd suggest just do whatever you can to get the most sleep. If that means taking it in turns to let Violet sleep on you then do it! It will get easier. Lauren was the same at first but now we're managing some good naps in her cot up til about half 3/4pm when she turns into a sleep monster And nights are ok too, with us going from 10/11 until 7 with only one or two feeds (although we're still co-sleeping). In the meantime, enjoy the cuddles because it will be far too soon before they're toddlers that run away from cuddles Smile

Davinaaddict · 14/06/2012 20:32

Oops cross posts! Slow typer that I am Grin

foolserrand · 14/06/2012 22:05

I found swaddling Flissy helped me put her down and playing with her in her crib stopped it being scary and now I can put her down to sleep no problem but she is freaky easy

My run has been rained off so am enjoying wine and chocolate instead. That's the same, right? :o

Davinaaddict · 15/06/2012 01:06

Scrap all my comments on sleeping Sad Lauren has finally settled, having been trying to get her to sleep for the last 3 hours Sad I'm completely exhausted and to be quite frank, a bit fed up of her for tonight Sad Going to try get 2 minutes some sleep before she wakes up hungry zzzz
