Mamma, I'm glad you've been staying in bed. Yesterday sounded awful!!

Fools, I'd love to be able to read and have alcohol again. Don't have the time to read and can't really drink either

I am shattered. We had a bad evening and Rosalie wouldn't settle at all. She did have a great night but I still feel drained. I'm currently grabbing a quick bath and trying desperatly not to fall asleep!!

TroubleAndFyfe · 24/07/2012 16:35

Sad mamma! Poor you!
mckayz why can't you drink? The odd glass of wine is fine at this stage. Then, after 3 months their livers process alcohol at an adult rate so you can have as much as you want really. The NCT told my friend that you have to be 3 times over the drink driving limit for the alcohol to start to transfer. The NHS say that unless you've had so much you are sick you are better off breast feeding than bottle feeding (expressed or formula) as the amount that transfers is so minimal. I've been drinking as much as I want to and he's never been affected as far as I can tell. The older generation were told not to drink so can be a bit Shock until you explain the new guidance. Smile
This weather is amazing! Fyfe napped for an hour so I went out and weeded the garden. Feeling much better as had been neglecting it, would love to nip out and trim some of the shrubs too so I can actually get to the back of the garden if he falls asleep again after this feed!Smile

McKayz · 24/07/2012 16:38

The HV said that I had to wait 2 hours after drinking to BF. So unless I had a drink at 11pm when she goes to bed then I don't know when I can drink.

Is that wrong?

TroubleAndFyfe · 24/07/2012 17:51

Advice is conflicting and if course you have to make your own mind up as to what you are happy with. Much advice suggests that if you are going to drink you do so before or during a feed so that the level of alcohol in your bloodstream reduces prior to the next feed. you can see the conflicting advice here, you just need to decide for yourself. I only drink 2-3 days per week and usually only 1-2 glasses of wine though have drunk more than that at weddings etc. but that is usually very spread out and often with food.Smile

I'm with Trouble on the drinking front. Can't quite get my head around drinking while she's nursing though!

Want to come and do my garden? It's only little but really unloved and dh is too bloody lazy to do it!

AnchorBun · 25/07/2012 10:10

Hi ladies sorry for the lack of posting from me, having a hard time at the moment. Lilly is going through the difficult phase that J went through Ghost. Oh god it's so horrible. She won't settle because she just won't keep still. At night is the worst, she kicks her legs constantly, keeps taking her dummy out and then screaming because she doesn't have her dummy Hmm (and repeat all through the night). To top it off she's only having one proper nap during the day, just fussing the rest of the time, so she's really over-tired and I'm exhausted Sad I'm really hormonal too which doesn't help at all.
Sorry, woe-is-me fest done.

I can strongly recommend a kindle for getting some reading done. It's so easy to use with one hand I can read whilst feeding Lilly or when I'm trying to wrestle her to sleep I've not read 50 Shades, really don't like the sound of that guy Grin currently working my way through the Hunger Games trilogy, I've read two books since Saturday! A nightmare baby phase does have some advantages

Poor you bun, sounds really hard work for you right now. Bet the heat is adding to the situation...? I hope this phase passes quickly... Any tips ghost?

V has a cold Sad well she's snotty and has a bit of a temp. Poor thing struggling to breathe and there's gunk in her throat too. Only happy place seems to be on my boob with just a nappy on. Have been putting some saline up her nose and trying to suck it out. Some success but it's upsetting her too. Oh, got her weighed today and she's 11lbs at 7 weeks Smile

EpicOde · 25/07/2012 13:20

hi all, sorry (yet again) for the long silence! Things have been manic here, then just as they calmed down a little i put my back out quite badly :( Mostly better now thankfully! I have DP home today so hopefully will be able to post properly later on! Just wanted to drop in and say hi in the meantime! We're off out to a late lunch in town now - such a lovely day here!! Hope you are all out enjoying the glorious sunshine! Grin

ghosteditor · 25/07/2012 14:15

Oh dear bun, it's a nightmare isn't it? DD is out of it again now and we're slowly working on improving her naps. She's finally getting better at night again too - last night she wouldn't settle until 9pm, but woke at 1, 4, and 7 which is actually a major improvement for us (no 2 hour wake up at 3am Smile).

Tips? Ask for help. Let everything else go, sleep when you can. Get someone else to take her for 2 hours and do whatever makes you happy. Remind yourself it's a phase; try to think of one cute thing they did that day! Oh and get something like a ring sling and just don't try to put her down in the day time!

AnchorBun · 25/07/2012 20:54

Thank you Smile and thanks for the tips Ghost definitely needed reminding of them! How long did it last with Jools? Glad she's out the other side for you Smile

Epic sorry to hear about your back! What happened? If you need anything, just give me a shout.
How did your MiL's appointment go? And your sister's visit?

Ellie sorry you've been having a bad time! We're always here if you need a vent/moan/virtual shoulder to cry on Smile

I don't think you want to know bun Wink

AnchorBun · 26/07/2012 09:30

Ghost! Shock

Grin

Last night was a bit better, I discovered the only way to keep her from kicking around like a ninja is to cuddle her. So I scooted over to the edge of the bed and snuggled into her (she's in a bedside crib) then buggered off when she fell asleep she only woke up 4 times last night. God I miss the good old days Grin it's amazing how much more human I feel just for getting 2 hour stints of sleep. Sure the novelty will soon wear off though Hmm

foolserrand · 26/07/2012 23:07

Good evening all! Sorry to all those who are struggling with sleep. We had a shocking night last night, but have chosen not to dwell. I used to sleep far less before the kids! :o

Right, those of you who wanted to know about the shred.... DONT DO IT!!!! Seriously, it hurts. I'm on day 2 and am using the stairs like an old woman and can barely lift my wine. It's awful!

Oh, 50 shades is utter dross. And it does have some, er, kinky bits that made even me blush that takes some doing! but, under all that, there is a nice love story and even a happy ending... of sorts. Well, that's how I'm reading it! Yes, I'm reading it again.

Right, back to sipping wine through a straw until I regain the feeling in my arms.

Davinaaddict · 27/07/2012 12:26

Unable to lift your wine?!? ShockGrin that sounds like a good enough reason not to do it Grin But, are you doing day 3?

We've had a few crappy nights. Thought we were in for a good one last night though, with both kids bathed and tucked up asleep by 7.15. Only for Lauren to wake up half an hour later for a 1.5hour crying fit Hmm For no apparent reason! Hope everyone else had a good night Smile

foolserrand · 27/07/2012 15:40

Yes, I refuse to quit. I can also already see a difference in my figure. Must be good as I am insanely critical of my shape! :o Had to admit defeat on the wine last night as I seriously couldn't lift the glass. May try again tonight. :o If you do try it, use light weights. My 2kg ones are awful.

We had an awesome night last night. Both asleep by 8.30 and nobody woke up until 6.30. Did feed Felicity at about midnight when I went to bed though. I was owed a good night after the last one mind. Dh woke her up at 11.30 and then fell asleep, leaving me to deal with Miss Giggles until 2.30. Ds then woke up at 3, went to the loo and I had to put him back to bed. Ended up sleeping on his floor for a few hours before she woke up again for more food.

Davinaaddict · 27/07/2012 16:29

Ok I'm convinced! Amazon & Play still have it at a fiver so for that it's worth a go, especially if you've noticed a difference in 3 days Grin Will order it tonight I think, along with some straws for the wine Grin

Davinaaddict · 27/07/2012 16:59

Actually one question before I do - how much room do you need to do it? I've only got a small front room Smile

McKayz · 27/07/2012 17:18

I'm very tempted by getting the shred dvd. Though I think I might die if I do it. Grin

MammaInTheMaking · 27/07/2012 17:36

Olympics is almost here!!!!

DP decided to go to a Kung Fu introductory session last night. He said he won't be going back. Everyone else was a "meat head" and he fell over infront the whole class when he was punching someone!!!!! Oh and he bought brand new trainers (bright white) whereas everyone else was in Kung fu plimsole things. Haha, I had to laugh GrinGrin

OLYMPICS!!!!! I have 3 friends in the opening ceremony tonight GrinGrinGrinGrin I'm a bit giddy with excitement Smile

foolserrand · 27/07/2012 22:04

Davina I'm not using much space. Just make sure you can do a star jump, sit up and press up. I'm staying on a 6x4 rug.

McKayz, the devil woman reckons she has clients of 400 lbs who can do it. You'll be fine! Grin

Invest in a decent sports bra. My giant baps have pulled a muscle in my chest from flopping about so much so I have to rest up tonight. Sad times!

The ceremony is pretty decent so far. Love the day glo hoops. Oh, anyone who wants a good cardio and core workout, try hula aerobics. That is great fun!Grin

Davinaaddict · 27/07/2012 22:31

McKayz I'm thinking the same thing Grin But dagnamit, I'm determined to get rid of my mum tum, so think it will be worth a fiver and a month of agony to do it Grin

Well we're sky plus-ing the ceremony as we're supposed to have been having an early night, but as madam decided to have more screaming fits, it took us over 2 hours to watch 3/4 hours worth of a programme Sad So now I'm exhausted and still not in bed Sad I hope she sleeps tonight. And I'm now dreading tomorrow - DH is out overnight at a boys BBQ so I have both kids on my own overnight. If Lauren's anything like she's been the last couple of nights, it'll be all in my bed at about 7! Zzzzz

Davinaaddict · 27/07/2012 22:31

Oh and dreading the press ups as I've never been able to do them! Blush

foolserrand · 27/07/2012 22:42

Oh no! I'd offer some help but am a trek away. There's an easy (yeah right) version of a few exercises, press ups included. You're meant to burn about 160-170 calories every time you do level 1 of the shred. you don't ever do more than 30 seconds of each exercise at a time.

Davinaaddict · 28/07/2012 08:54

It'll probably take me more than 30 seconds to do a press up ha ha!

So had another hard night - frustratingly, Lauren had a stretch of over 4.5 hours sleep but of course DS had to wake up smack bang in the middle of it! And then I had to express when she did wake up because she essentially missed a feed. DH is less than useless - he came to bed at a ridiculous time last night, despite allegedly wanting an early night Hmm And I'm now fuming at him as I've realised that in the 4 months since Lauren's been here, he hasn't offered to get up with her once, so I can get some rest Angry FFS the only thing he can't do is feed her! Sorry - needed a rant! Blush

AnchorBun · 28/07/2012 09:10

Lilly slept in the big cot bed in DS's (now DC's) room for all her naps yesterday and the whole night last night!! I've had to admit that she's almost grown out of the bedside crib. God I missed her! She did great! Went to bed at 10, woke up at 4am because she'd lost her dummy, then slept until almost 8 this morning! Shock

Ah the 30 Day Shred... the memories...! Good luck! Wink

Didn't watch the ceremony last night, my book is far too entertaining! Will have to iplayer it later after hearing about McCartney's fail I love Danny Boyle.
