Davina, we know what you mean! My phone managed a doozie last week. Texted dh "white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake" ... or so I thought. My phone sent whore. He laughed so hard people were moving away from him. :o

MammaInTheMaking · 14/07/2012 16:58

Haha fools like the autocorrect! How are things with DH now? Also, happy birthday for yesterday GrinGrin

How's your day going trouble? Not too tired I hope.

I'm surviving we'll without DP. Violet's sleeping brilliantly at night and I've been bringing her into the bed after her night feed coz it's just so lovely snuggling her. Now she's a bit bigger from really newborn she's just so munchable! I've also not done a night time bottle or expressed in the night for about 3 or 4 days now. It's going well. However randomly she's suddenly got really rubbish at taking her bedtime bottle. Like she hates the bottle Hmm can't figure out why...

DP is having fun at Latitude. But his mate who arrived on Friday and was meeting them at the tent got hammered and never made it to the tent. No one could get hold of him, he slept somewhere else and has lost his bag!! He has no idea where he spent the night or who with and doesn't know who he got drunk with ConfusedConfusedConfused

Am currently sat on the sofa watching the 2010 Glasto highlights. Was the most amazing (dry) festival!

Hope you are having a good time away mck.

ghosteditor · 14/07/2012 18:07

Ouch davina tough night! We had a 1.15 nap today from DD, which is a huge win, so I'm hoping she'll sleep well tonight - for her grandparents, because I'm going to a hen party Grin. I'll only go for a few hours and it's pretty mummy friendly; I can do virgin cocktails for our cocktail making class!

My dad even managed to get her back to sleep last night Shock. I cried (with relief I think!)

AnchorBun · 14/07/2012 18:18

Just a quick pop in to say happy (late) birthday Fools!! Glad you had a nice day Smile what were the presents?

Ghost bless you, you must be exhausted! Great to hear that things have been better for you today, have a great night!!

Sorry, I've completely forgotten everything that's been said (to be fair a lot has been said!) hope you're all have a great weekend!

[must eat breakfast and lunch more often]

My pfb is not at my side. :( He's spending the night at nanna and grandpa's house and actually let me leave. Nobody thought he would. Should not have worn mascara, or eye liner.... and certainly not black eye shadow. I'm pitifully sobbing into the dogs. They look really uncomfortable.

McKayz · 14/07/2012 20:42

So far so good. The boys are in their pjs and lying in bed watching tv. It's been very nice seeing my Dad and Sister. Plus I'm going to be an Auntie again!!!! It's quite strange as my niece is 11, nearly 12 and starting high school in September. But there's almost 13 years between DH and his older brother.

Davinaaddict · 14/07/2012 22:12

Congrats on being an Auntie again McKayz Smile Glad you're enjoying your trip Smile

Sorry about your pfb fools. He'll be having a whale of a time Smile Have some chocolate and some Wine And think of all the lovely cuddles you can give him tomorrow while he shouts Get Off Grin

Glad you managed a bit of sleep ghost Its so hard when they don't sleep Sad We've now been trying to settle Lauren for 2 hours & no joy Sad I think her teeth are hurting Sad She's been playing with her ear a lot over the last couple of days, chewing everything, and dribbling like its going out of fashion. But no temperature so I don't think it's an ear infection Sad Might be time to crack open the calpol...

Have a fabulous hen night Grin

Glad you're doing well without DP Mamma. Not good about DP's mate though - how can he not remember anything? He must have been pickled!

How were the kebabs Bun? Smile

TroubleAndFyfe · 15/07/2012 20:12

Smile yay mckayz! Quite a surprise then?

McKayz · 15/07/2012 20:42

Yes it is. She's in a happy relationship though and my niece was the result of a one night stand. I feel so bloody old though!! How on earth can my niece be about to finish primary school??

AnchorBun · 16/07/2012 08:48

The kebabs were ace thanks Davina (even if I do say so myself) Grin

McKayz congratulations! DP has a 7 year old little sister - so about 20 years age gap - it's really strange because she's more like a niece than a sister, especially because they hardly see each other Confused

Well, Lilly is definitely into the next leap, she's being very difficult at the mo. I can't help finding it exciting though knowing that she'll come out the other end with new know how! Smile

Ghost, hope you had a good night at the hen do. How is J now?

Ellie hope everything's going well with you!

Epic was it last week you had the appointment with your MiL? hope all is well.

TroubleAndFyfe · 16/07/2012 16:07

Good on you bun, that's a good way to look at it. Sleep has settled down again here, he just woke every 3 hours last night (back to newborn) and his new skills are... (drum roll please) holding his feet and....stretching his willy Hmm erm...great. Before I got pregnant I said I didn't really want a boy 'cause they play with their willies and stretch them and it's started already! Hmm

foolserrand · 16/07/2012 16:55

Gets worse Trouble. Am watching ds have a fiddle whilst picking his nose.

AnchorBun · 16/07/2012 17:31

Haha! You both made me laugh! The first "Mummy look! My willy's got bigger!" is priceless too Hmm Grin

OP posts:
ghosteditor · 16/07/2012 20:32

Hey!

The hen party was fun thank you - I stayed out until nearly midnight !Shock

Unfortunately DD woke quite a bit for my parents, especially since there was a battle prom nearby with cannons and fireworks Hmm.

She is definitely improving - she's like a different child since she learned to crawl! Much cheerier, sleeping better (down to 4/5 wake ups a night - never thought I'd see that as an improvement!) eating food etc. I think we've really turned a corner.

6 months' old on Wednesday!!

AnchorBun · 16/07/2012 20:54

That's great Ghost! Smile Lilly's a little way off crawling yet - I'm half envious, half relieved! Grin

Good for you for staying out late! You've earned it Smile

I'm stuck with a headache I've not been able to shift for two days now, Lilly grunting and growling like The Gruffalo isn't helping! I don't think hibernating away from the crappy weather today was a good idea, out for some fresh air tomorrow whether my hair likes it or not

OP posts:
ghosteditor · 16/07/2012 21:21

Fresh air always key. I get tension headaches related to muscle spasm - any chance it's all the baby lifting? What really helps me is rolling up a bath towel and lying on the floor with it under my neck, back of head just touching the floor. Helps release the muscles.

Yep, she's been working on crawling for nearly a month and cracked it last week. Thankfully she's not speedy yet!

TroubleAndFyfe · 16/07/2012 22:25

Is that quite early for crawling ghost?

ghosteditor · 16/07/2012 22:57

Apparently so trouble, though I met a 4.5 month old boy who was hands and knees rocking recently! The health visitors assured me ages ago that it's very rare for babies to crawl before 6 months, but she did (by about a week). She's a big strong girl though and is obsessive about things when she's learning. doesn't get that from me, oh no.

She has no sense whatsoever about obstacles or dangers and the house is not remotely baby proofed. DH is back on Weds after a month, so we will get cracking! But she is just so much calmer and is sitting and playing contentedly now. Phew!

By the way - huge hit of the week is her treasure box (a heuristic play thing). Especially likes her wooden spoon, pastry brush, and wooden rattle. You do have to sit with them as some things are dangerous unsupervised, but she loves selecting her own toys and played for a straight hour the first day I gave it to her - I was gobsmacked!

MammaInTheMaking · 17/07/2012 03:30

Well done Jools on the crawling! Does sound very early Smile That's so cute that she entertainer herself for an hour.

I hope your headache has eased bun.

I giggled at the willy stories too GrinGrin!!

So sleepy here, Violet's been tricky last few nights. Thankfully DP is now back from the festival Smile I'm off to a BF group tomorrow to see about these shields.....

TroubleAndFyfe · 17/07/2012 09:10

Sad sorry Violet's been tricky mamma. However, it does not give you the right to giggle at the willy stories WinkGrin
I don't know any other 6 month olds who can crawl ghost! Did you leave her on her tummy to practise whilst she was getting frustrated? I think that stage sounds really hard!

TroubleAndFyfe · 17/07/2012 09:16

Fyfe just rolled, front to back three times in a row! Smile

AnchorBun · 17/07/2012 09:44

Thanks for the tip Ghost! I did it last night and DP gave me a massage , feeling much better this morning Smile Definitely think it's because I've been holding Lilly a lot more through this fussy stage the last few days.

Go Fyfe!! Grin

OP posts:
Davinaaddict · 17/07/2012 13:57

What's with all these fussy babies?!? Lauren had a fantastic night on Sat night where we had a 10 hour stretch with just one waking after 5 hours. Then the last 2 nights, she's been up every 2 hours Sad And that's after 2 hours of crying between 7&9. I'm so so tired. I've even said to DH that we need to clear and make up the spare bed cos I can't cope with many more nights like these. I'll just have to go back to co sleeping so that I'll at least be able to function during the day. And on top of all that, I've got a bloody awful cold too Angry. Sorry - bit of a me, me, me rant Blush

We've been to a funeral this morning for one of DH's mates from the pub Sad He was only 57 - such a sad day Sad We took the children and they were really great. Lauren slept all the way through it, and DS was so good at keeping quiet. Although there was a moment that I thought he was going to cheer because he'd completed a jigsaw on my phone. It would have been at the worst possible moment as well! GrinBlush

I laughed at the willy stories too - DS has never really been one for playing with his willy, but I'm sure that will change in the not too distant future Grin

You dirty stop out ghost Grin Glad you enjoyed the hen do! Wow at Jools crawling too, that's great Smile

Glad you're feeling better Bun Smile Headaches are horrid at the best of times never mind when they won't bugger off Sad

How did the BF group go Mamma? Smile

Go Fyfe Grin Lauren loves her feet and now refuses to have anything on them when it's bed/nap time Hmm She kicks her way out of babygros, kicks blankets off and cries when we put her in her sleeping bags. Keeping her warm is a bit of a challenge!

So today I got a giggle from her Grin First time and it was sooooo cute Grin

And after all that rambling, it's time to go get some chocolate and put my feet up Smile

MammaInTheMaking · 17/07/2012 16:50

Aaawwwww yay for Lauren giggling, that must have been so cute! I'm currently listening to DP doing the nappy change and V is screaming. She won't stop pooing so DP can't put her nappy on til she stops. He's telling her that she needs to stop with the poo stream and then he'll cuddle her. I'm sat on the sofa with boob primed for a feed!

BF group was good, given a few techniques to try and get her off the shields. But I'm not pressurising myself about it either Smile Also met up with a new person with an 8 week old for a coffee. Was nice Grin

Ooh, crying has stopped, feeding time about to commence!

Davinaaddict · 17/07/2012 18:35

Sounds like fun in your house Grin

Glad the session went well. And I agree with you not to pressurise yourself about coming off them too soon. With DS it took me til about 16 weeks, but only 10 weeks this time Smile. You'll know when you're ready though. I wanted to get off them ASAP, but every time I tried, within a couple of feeds, it was clear it was too soon. Well until the last time, of course Grin
