Hi Ladies,

I'm still here, just life is as usual completely manic!!

The drs didnt say much, apart from that a little bleeding (esp afetr "being romantic" is completly normal, and as its all stopped and I have had no further pain etc, not to worry too much. She did try, unsuccessfully to listen to babys heartbeat, but couldnt find it. Again she said she wasnt too concerned as its still early days (I'm 16+2) so I'm trying to keep positive.

Tonight, I'm either full of extremely bad wind! Or the bubbles I am feeling are actually baby....its soo confusing tho as hubby could feel them too, which is why we think its wind rather than anything else, but it was pretty severe!!

The main worry we have right now is we are in the process of trying to move out of our 2 bed flat into a 3 bed house (this is child no 2) Selling the flat is not going to be an issue, the block we are in is owned by the local council, so they are more than willing to buy it back off us.

The problem is my employment. I started a new job at the beginning of March, then found out I was 4 weeks pregnant. Not so bad you might think....the problem is, I was employed to cover someone elses maternity leave. As I have only been able to provide the mortgage company with 3 wageslips, they need more confirmation from my employers regarding my salary etc. They have given me a form for my employers to fill in, which must state my salary, and whether or not it is permanant employment. Obviously it isnt, so we are seriously doubting that they are going to take my wages into consideration whern working out how much we can borrow. If they base it on my husbands earnings alone, we wouldnt even be abe to afford to buy a 1 bed flat, let alone a 3 bed house!!

Stress, stress and more stress, plus my employers wont say if they will offer me anything else once my and my colleagues maternity leasve has ended.....IF I am even entitled to it, being oin a temporary contract!! ARRRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!

Sorry to waffle, I'm sure you all have better things to do than read about my problems haha!

Good to hear all your lovely pink or blue news, my 20 wk scan is yet to be announced..........take care of those bumps xxx

MickeyTheShortOne · 22/05/2012 22:51

Aneglico Thankyou so much for linking that thread. I'm rolling around laughing!!!! Think I might print it all off and read it whilst in labour myself!!! ahahahaha

MickeyTheShortOne · 22/05/2012 22:58

"No particularly funny bits, other than being distinctly aware I could hear a cow moo-ing. And realising it was me."

I might die from lack of oxygen soon, i think i'll have to stop reading!! HAHAHA

Angelico · 22/05/2012 23:11

Mickey I so should be in bed but still reading :o Hard to pick a favourite but loving this short but sweet tale...

When 10lbs 40z DS came out and shat all over the consultant who had 5 mins previoulsy (with DS crowning and me in an ecstacy pain) had told me to 'be quiet!'

She did alopogise the next day but getting shat on was justice enough for me

If consultant is horrible tomorrow I shall think of this and smile... :o

lisbethsopposite · 22/05/2012 23:11

No news from me - burps and more burps starting to come on. Will have to put gaviscon on the shopping list.

CWest that sounds a bit worrying. Keep us posted. Would the council be able to help in any way - a swop even...?

In terms of feeling baby I am past 20 wks but have been feeling kicks for several weeks - much more than with DS. Anyway placenta at the 20wk scan is to the back of my uterus. Can't remember where it was before but I feel a lot more this time. Very reassuring in the early days, but I wonder how it will be later. I've seen pics (on facebook I think) where you could clearly see baby's foot pressing out from a mom's abdomen.

Gnight all.

Angelico · 22/05/2012 23:12

And by the sounds of things, midwives should get a wetsuit and snorkel along with their degree Confused

Angelico · 22/05/2012 23:13

Night Lisbeth - I've joined the Gaviscon club too in the last few days so sympathy! x

Beeblebear · 23/05/2012 01:51

Well I rang the gp today. They gave me a bit of grief for not going straight to emergency on saturday. Oh well. But got an appointment for 9am tomorrow.
Hopefully the gp will listen to me and book some extra ultrasound work for my already booked thursday appointment.

Back to my regular diet today, and that area is a bit tender again, so who knows..

Thanks 4 the funny thread link!

LoopyLa · 23/05/2012 07:47

FjordMor congratulations on your scan!! I must say I don't actually know of many 'Daddy's Girls' at all & neither my 2 sisters nor myself would qualify for this Smile You may just need a bit of time to get your head round the idea?

WantAnOrange · 23/05/2012 10:49

Hello everyone. Congratulations to all who have had scans this week. Mine's at 4pm today.

"No particularly funny bits, other than being distinctly aware I could hear a cow moo-ing. And realising it was me."

hehehe, I can remember trying to figure out if I could hear a wolf howling or a fire engine during labour. Turns out it was me. I blame the drugs! I also giggled the whole time that I was sat the birthing ball, then abruptly stopped and demanded, very seriously, to be back in the bed. I can remember my mum rubbing my leg during a contraction and it was causing the most unbearable pins and needles. I wanted to tell her to bugger off but I could speak. No pethadine this time, it does not sit well with me.

MrsConfusion · 23/05/2012 13:20

Quick update - had my 20 week scan this morning, all well (phew!), DH slightly miffed that the only two measurements which are not right in the mid-point of normal are head size (slightly at small end) and tummy size (slightly at big end). So, fat and thick baby in here Wink. Apparently placenta is right at the front, which may explain why I'm still not in the 'feeling definite kicks' camp. Everything I've felt could be baby or could be wind... lots of that at the moment Blush!

We didn't want to know the gender, and I can honestly say despite watching all through the scan, we still have no idea. So, a suprise for October Smile.
I was fine in the scan itself, but then burst into tear on the bus on the way back Blush. I guess I was holding it in until then. DH was lovely and insisted we went to buy a book to read to the bump to get him/her used to his voice, before going into work. That set me off even more! I hadn't realised how much I was worrying about the scan and not wanting to get too attached until knowing things were OK.

Right, I'd better do some actual work now... Hope everyone's having good days and the heartburn/aches/worries and stresses are eased by the sunshine. Thanks for all you bean-ovens, lots of luck for anyone with scans.

milk · 23/05/2012 13:31

Congratulations MrsConfusion :)

I love this weather Grin I get to wear my summer maternity dress Grin

FjordMor · 23/05/2012 13:53

Congrats MrsConfusion and thinking of anyone else with 20wk scans today!

Thanks LoopyLa - you're right of course. Am re-framing and becoming more girl-orientated :) DSD2 is happy it's probably a girl and I spent most of last night (a bit of overactive bump insomnia and very hot here) working out girl's names :) so things look a bit better this morning and trying not to feel too ashamed of myself for how I was feeling.

Since it was 27.5 degrees and humid yesterday and is already 25.5 here in sweltering Norway today, we are taking DSD2 to the beach for sunbathing and ice cream (DSD1 has gone to a different beach with her friends; I dropped her out of sight of them!!). DSD2 saw the scan pictures from yesterday and was really pleased. Think we still have a way to go 'selling' it to DSD1.

Anyway, have been so flooded with congrats on fb that I felt much better, proud and teary last night. If it's a girl, girl it is :) and I will have someone else to watch 'Glee' with Wink. I even made a new profile picture of a baby's foot in it's mother's hand, in b&w, with the baby's foot 'colour splashed' in pink and the words Team (probably) Pink written over the bottom. I shamelessly put the best scan photo as the cover photo then did a status saying 'Anyone want to see my baby?'. (couldn't think of an original and 'cool' reveal Wink).

londonlivvy · 23/05/2012 14:12

Hi Everyone

How lovely that everyone has had scans has had good news, even if the sinking in of a different sex has taken a while! I am not sure which variety I'd prefer (but perhaps when I get the results I'll know!). I am definitely with those who say bringing up small children is similar to dogs - my sister swears by Cesar Millan (a dog trainer)'s mantra of "exercise, discipline, affection".

Anyway, I've not been posting cos I've been SO TIRED and SO GRUMPY and really didn't think I could reasonably share any more whingeing with you all! But I slept better last night (in the spare room) and did yoga under the trees at the park at lunchtime and feeling much more human now. May this happy mojo continue.

I am super relieved that my cervix story has worked out fine (no need for a stitch) so now just need the flat sales / house purchase sagas to sort themselves so we can move. Survey results in later this week so should find out if my buyer is still keen. Hope so.

Will reply properly to everyone's posts later but GOODNESS re anal fissures (OUCH OUCH OUCH) and LOVING birth stories and HURRAH for all those folk feeling baby. I am not feeling baby just yet but not bothered as suspect it is a) too early and b) when it does start it'll be yet another thing to stop me sleeping!

LoopyLa · 23/05/2012 15:07

Fjordmor no worries & I rather like the f/b idea Smile

Ladies, I have 2 questions about my chest puppies!! They were a DD/E pre: pregnancy and now, at 17+4 & bigger, I really need to be thinking about going over to the dark non-wired side Sad

My first question is do non-wired bras really give you as much support as underwired? Plus they look so much bigger without wire cos of all the extra material to support your hooters and in summer, surely that's just going to be horrible & sweaty?? Confused

And my second is, today they are really sore - is this milk coming in or could it be something else? Shock

Londonmrss · 23/05/2012 15:29

Hey Loopy, re. bras- just go and get measured at Mothercare. I do find that the non-wired are providing a decent amount of support as long as they fit properly.

Also in the boob dept, I've got bras that fit, but the maternity tops I keep buying are useless. They seem to fit everywhere, but then I find they won't cover my tits properly! Means I always have an inch of granny bra popping out the top. Is anyone else having this problem?

So who makes maternity tops that cover a decent pair of double Ds please? Or at least cover the bra part...

MrsConfusion · 23/05/2012 17:27

Loopyla, I've moved from wired to non, mostly pleased with support although there is definitely more material than before. Mine go in phases of being really sore (poor DH can't get near) and then calming down, then really sore again - I've been wondering if it is sore each time there's a growth spurt? Certainly seem to be getting exponentially bigger, which is very strange as I've never been big up top!

LondonMrsS I'm struggling to find well fitting maternity things at all - keep needing little vests underneath to maintain modesty, which in this heat is a killer.

WantAnOrange · 23/05/2012 18:36

Congratulations MrsConfusion!

LondonMrsS I had the same rant to DH today. If I'm a size 8 do they really think I'm gonna need that much room up top? Size 8 women rarely have boobs any bigger than a B cup!

I had my scan today and all went well. IT'S A GIRL! We are very happy but I have to admit I feel anxious about raising a daughter. She was not in a co-operative mood today at all. She was standing on her head, completely curled round, so her feet were up by her head! Like she'd been folded in half! This meant they couldn't get a very good view of her spine but the sonographer took ages looking and even looked in 4D and said it seems all fine so not to worry. DS came with us and thought it was great. He got to count the fingers and make sure she has the right amount. Grin

I have a sudden urge to go shopping!

dosomethingmutley · 23/05/2012 18:42

Loopyla I've been in non-wired for a while now, but it took ages to find one I liked that was comfy AND didn't make me feel frumpy (I don't ask for much). In the end Amoralia bras have worked well for me - they're very supportive and comfortable and you can get away with them under lower-cut tops - result!

MrsConfusion congrats on the scan and what a lovely sounding DH you have :)

: I am feeling rubbish today after inadvertently giving myself [mild] food poisoning last night :-( really sick this morning (I'm not sure I'll be able to eat Oatibix for a while!) but soldiered in to work anyway as thought it was normal morning sickness. Have managed to keep all food and water down since lunchtime, so hopefully nothing too disastrous, but have been fighting that queasy feeling all day. And I'm still at work (til 7pm). And it's sunny outside. Oh woe is me!

Looking forward to some nice plain toast, perhaps with a bit of magical healing honey on it, for tea.

Hope you're all having nice evenings!

ttfn

dosomethingmutley · 23/05/2012 18:45

And congrats WantAnOrange Grin bit of xposting going on there methinks!

DameFlatYouLent · 23/05/2012 18:54

Evening all! Just caught up with everyone, and everything I've read has flown out of my head immediately. Knackered after a day at work followed by dealing with a very narky (in his defence, poorly) DS who was over-tired after being at the childminder all day. He is now in bed and I have to scrape spaghetti and tomato sauce off the walls and radiator. Throwing food makes me see red, it's been a bad evening so far.

Need to go and cook supper. Is anyone else finding that they're having to eat smaller portions because they get full quicker? I heap my plate with my usual gigantic portion size, and really struggle to finish. Sad greedyguts.

DameFlatYouLent · 23/05/2012 18:55

Sorry to have been so crap, congrats to all the latest scanees! Hooray!

WantAnOrange · 23/05/2012 19:01

Hope you're feeling better dosomethingmutley.

DameFlatYouLent I definatly have to eat little and often now. I can't manage a proper meal but feel constantly hungry if that makes sense.

Beeblebear · 23/05/2012 19:47

Oh no you ALL MUST STOP TALKING AABOUT FOOD! lol

I've been sent for a fasting ultrasound this afternoon to check on some uper abdominal issues I have been having (likely gallbladder) and I still have 2 hours to go before my appointment! This is TORTURE!

ok well it's really not that bad. i just hope they find where that terrible pain could have been coming from.

Dr. Listened to heartbeat this morning and all is well with baby... Excited for baby's ultrasound tomorrow!
