All the best wriggle - I hope you're not waiting too long. God - how exciting, another little baby about to arrive Grin

Ok, my epic story is up here, it's only for the truly dedicated BlushGrin

Today I seemed to spend most of my time sitting down and feeding. MW visited, weighed DD and generally was very positive about everything. I'm a bit engorged and DD is having some trouble latching on the right side. MW was quite helpful, sat with me and shaped my breast, which was interesting as she did it differently to how I was. Also suggested rugby hold, which worked.
Feeding frenzy today was from about 4:30-6:30.
DH took DS to his swim lessons, gave him tea, and got him into bed during the time I was mostly feeding DD.
I burst into tears once he was in bed at the prospect of having to do all that by myself while attempting to feed. HOW on EARTH am I going to do it????

I am going to remain calm, enjoy the fact that DH is at home for another week. And I'm going to ask for help from my DPs ... and then MIL is going to come visit and that will be helpful too. And

I suspect I need Wine

Bodeccia · 30/04/2012 10:40

Morning everyone

Thanks for sharing your story, Ladybee, I'm so glad you managed a VBAC after all. Made me all teary I hope Rosalind is getting on well at home and life is settling into some kind of routine with her and DS.

Thanks for the dilated post, LittleSarah. DH walked in just as I was reading the bit about "Bottom/Purple Line" and said "Are you looking at asses on the internet?". Yeah, obvs. Interesting reading, I feel pretty ignorant about labour and childbirth. The smells? The cold legs? Feeling like a kiss inside? Those women need to get their nails cut, btw. Just sayin'...

Its really hard not to symptom spot, isn't it? I wish I was a bit more chilled out about it all and accept that she's going to come when she wants. It is difficult though, when you feel like a turtle on your back all the time.

I'm glad you're working things through harecare with DP. Or are you just using him for sex? Wink

Glad you had a good weekend too, purestcocoa. Being in late pregnancy, preparing to be a mum and so on is hard enough without having issues with DP. You sound like you're working things through too which is the main thing :)

Lovely names limeflower :)

My EDD is on Saturday. I don't really know what to do until then. I've packed my bag, am half way through an 800 page book I started last week (!) watched copious amounts of TV (which I'm sure is giving me a headache), made meals and put them in the freezer, cleaned the house. I don't want to go into town coz I'll just end up spending (more) money on things I don't really need. I think I'll do some walking today now the rain has stopped. The idea of putting wellies on is making me want to have a lie down...

Hope everyone is well

Catsycat · 30/04/2012 11:01

Ladybee what a lovely birth story. Sounds like it was really hard work, but am very Envy of your vbac!! Try not to worry about doing everything on your own. You will work out how to manage it - it will probably take a bit of juggling and making one DC or the other do things slightly earlier or later than usual, but don't feel bad about that. Honestly you will do it. Please could you remember I said this, and remind me about that in about 3 - 4 weeks??? Grin

littlesarah hope you are OK and feel better soon.

Well, having worked my butt off this weekend, and made sure that DH worked his off too, we now have shelves and some rather nice hooks in the nursery, and freshly washed babygros and vests. The crib and a fully stacked changing table are now in the corner of our room, and most of the hospital bag is sorted (albeit in a big messy pile on top of the changing table). Most of the baby stuff is put away, though the runners on the cotbed drawer decided to stick and then warp last night, so I can't put the bedding away! The manufacturers (Tutti Bambini) were great though, and are sending me new runners for free in the post today. All the displaced furniture from decorating the nursery now has a home (except the dressing table, which I need to eBay later), and I've started tarting up the DDs baby compensation present (a fairy castle dolls house - very cute!). I'm off to make the curtains for the nursery now... Just waiting to collapse later from all this, but maybe its a last minute burst of energy, an will last the next three weeks (please, please...)???

mythical · 30/04/2012 11:05

I can't even reach my blimmin cervix Envy
I really enjoyed reading the birth story, and such a lovely name.
Hope everyone is doing well, my friend is due shortly with my Avon order and a McDonald's and I'm also getting cuddles with her 5 month old so looking forward to that!!
Can't wait to hear more baby news! And to think we have a whole month of it!!

BlueCrane · 30/04/2012 11:27

Morning all! Hope all is going well for wriggle and miko

I sort of managed to clear the sofa last night after I'd had a bath, though there wasn't really enough hot water left so it wasn't the best bath ever had. Was wide awake from 4-5.30am this morning so am in a bit of a daze today and tummy seems either to be constipated or entirely the other way or some weird combination of the two that's not pleasant - sorry TMI! Think I'm going to go and see the doc tomorrow about my heartburn as it seems to happen after every single meal now regardless of what I eat and I'm worried about the amount of gaviscon I'm necking at the moment and what effect that and/or the constant acid backing up is having on my body!! I read somewhere the there's some tablets you can get to help and since I could realistically still have another 6 weeks to go then I need to do something!! Sorry for the moan...it's DHs birthday today and I feel bad as I just don't have much energy at all! He said he fancied a chilled day watching DVDs but seems to have woken up with loads of energy so think we may try and go out for the day, which I really want to do but am also soooo sleepy!!

Glad to hear bag preps and room preps are well underway...a bit Envy of people's EDDs coming up though as I'll only be 36 weeks tomorrow!! Hoping your LOs decide to come on time and aren't too comfy tucked away inside!

BlueCrane · 30/04/2012 11:36

lady just read your birth story, thanks so much for sharing that! V useful for a getting slightly nervous first timer here!!

mythical · 30/04/2012 11:39

BlueCrane - might be omeprazole. I've had it prescribed for acid reflux too

Wrigglebum · 30/04/2012 16:55

Well I have another boy! Adam Zachary was born at 9.02am weighing 6lb4oz. He's perfect! Cried straight away then very calm as soon as he was passed to us. He fed for a good hour in recovery and has had a few feeds since and is sleeping on us between them. He has a small tongue tie which should get snipped soon so feeding is a little sore but not too bad.

He's already met his grandparents and big brother. DS has given him some lovely cuddles and kisses but was more interested in the presents from Adam Smile. I'm pretty sore but feeling ok, am just on paracetamol and codeine for pain relief. Am in a two bed room which is a lot calmer than last time.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

myweeangel · 30/04/2012 17:01

Ooooh Wrigglebum, many congratulations and good wishes for a speedy recovery so you can get home to your family. Lovely name too!
Meanwhile, back at my ranch.... zip, zilch, nada, nothing. :( Grrrrrrr! Bought a gym ball today, shall bounce like a maniac tonight.
Today was DD's last full day at nursery and had a notion to go for a big walk, but then realised with DH back at work I didn't want to be caught out, so bit tentative about doing all the energetic, baby-moving things I know I should be. Desperate for baby to come but feeling too nervous to do anything about it!

Catsycat · 30/04/2012 17:31

Well done Wriggle, congratulations! Hope you are on your feet and able to go home soon.

BlueCrane I had a lot of the things that are troubling you a couple of weeks ago - the cramp (had some that lasted from morning all through the day, grrr) and the heartburn. With the cramp, I just tried to stay hydrated (have developed an intolerance to bananas recently - very odd!), and with heartburn / indigestion, I found Rennie Deflatine worked much better than Gaviscon - has to be the Deflatine ones though!!! A couple of weeks ago, I was taking them all the time, and like you say, getting heartburn whatever and whenever I ate. It's actually much better now - hardly getting any digestive problems, or cramp either. Glad you cleared the sofa, and I hope you have had a nice day with DH.

Mythical my cervix is up near my tonsils!!! You're right about the omeprazole. I have to take it as part of the pre-med for my ELCS, along with Ranitidine (Sp?). Hoping to have a CS without vomming everywhere for once!!! Enjoy your cuddles with your friend's baby - and the McDonalds (want McDonalds now! Grin )

cupcakefairy · 30/04/2012 18:51

Congrats wriggle!! So exciting and fab name! It all sounds very calm & peaceful. Hope you have a straightforward recovery & ds enjoys his baby brother :) I've been reading 'my new baby's with ds a fair bit & he is fascinated by it, esp the baby having its nappy changed.. am hoping it prepares him a tiny bit for everything!

weeangel I feel the same as you, would love baby to come but am also scared to start trying to make it! Not least cos I have a final date night booked with dh on sat, & hopefully a bikini wax next wk Grin dh bought me raspberry leaf tea today though so think I will get started on that!

sarah interesting article on dilation.. I've never been able to find my cervix Blush (we use non artificial methods of contraception & it's one of the ways you can discern if you're at a fertile time in the month so I've tried before but never been successful!) But maybe I'll try again in the lead up to labour. How's the essay coming along? Impressed you have the brain power for it!

ladybee amazing birth story really interesting! So glad you got the vbac sounds like a v positive experience. I'm really hoping my mws will encourage different positions etc too as I was flat on my back for ds the whole time & sure it didn't help withthe eventual forceps outcome. Will be putting it in my birth plan!

LittleSarah · 30/04/2012 18:54

Congrats wrigglebum!! Great news! So lovely to think we'll all be able to experience the joy of the newborn in the weeks to come!

(Meanwhile I still feel rubbish but doctor says no need to worry unless I'm still suffering Wed/Thurs, I bloomin' well hope not)!

Great birth story LadyBee, you did absolutely amazingly!

Well done over the weekend catsy. My dh didn't get much more than cupboard done sadly but better than nothing... My sister and mum are coming later this week to give me a hand so hoping to get a lot of bits done then.

bluecrane - Hope you feel better, being ill and pregnant is just overkill really!

Bodeccia - Sounds like you have everything sorted, maybe you fancy getting my house organised just to pass the time? I say go to the cinema, I rarely go these days unless it is to see something in the U/PG certification bracket...

saggybaps · 30/04/2012 18:55

Another baby! Well Done Wigglebum

I'm finding it really difficult to eat now, I can assure you in my life those words have never come out of my mouth! I just feel sick & there's no room.

Besides that feel twice my age and then some, looking forward to baby being out, it has to be better than this!

LittleSarah · 30/04/2012 18:57

cupcake - Need to go over essay and edit but my can't seem to find the motivation. Going to try and finish red penning tonight and hopefully send to course leader by Wednesday.

I did have a quick feel for cervix myself but also couldn't locate. Might give it another shot nearer the time!

cupcakefairy · 30/04/2012 19:44

Lol saggybaps can definitely relate to not being able to fit much food in & I LOVE my food! Dh made amazing curry on sat & I had to stop halfway through I was GUTTED Grin

Good luck finishing off the essay sarah.. I have been redpenning my birth plan just now.. in massive letters 'please aim to avoid episiotomy & forceps'..hopefully they'll get the message!

Harecare · 30/04/2012 19:47

Saw my chiropractor today and I told her about the pains I had on Sat night - I thought labour was starting so tried to stay in bed and sleep. I fell asleep and then of course everything stopped. She said if I'd got up and moved about a bit I could have started everything off or at least made sure the contractions (that's what they felt like) didn't stop.
So maybe the sex did work?
So, if you feel contractions, get up and move about if you want labour to start. The change in body temp and raise in heart rate can help to move things along.

luckynumber11 · 30/04/2012 23:25

Congratulations wriggle, wonderful news, it sounds lovely and calm, just thinking about you being in hospital with Adam now. I hope your recovery continues well and the pain is manageable - it sounds like your doing great so far.

Yorky · 01/05/2012 08:56

Congratulations Wigglebum, lovely name
Has anyone heard from Miko? - she's been quiet for a while, hope everything is OK

I am sat in bed with the laptop, DH has taken DS1 to school and DD1 to nursery and then straight to DS2s swimming class so its just me and baby, the house is quiet and I'm stressing cos I fed her at 5 and now its nearly 9 and I don't think she's feeding often enough overnight as she needs to keep eating to help clear her jaundice - its not bad but I obviously don't want it to get any worse, and I can't leave her outside to sleep in the pram as the weather is pants again today. I ought to just be grateful that she's letting me get more sleep! The MW came yesterday and gave her 2nd dose of vit K and did the heel prick test and isn't coming back till next Weds so she isn't too concerned.

Lovely birth story Ladybee, congratulations on trusting your body

Much better than my DHs cousin who had her first yesterday and had a really bad time, long labour, cuts, lost a lot of blood and generally doesn't sound much fun, but he's here :) think she was pretty cross with me when she was late and I sneaked in and had baby early - before her!

People are sounding very organised with packed bags and completing projects, washed clothes and decorated rooms - DH is on a mission, paternity leave has mostly been spent doing trips to the tip and the charity shop so the dining room and the study both have loads more space in them!

Catsycat · 01/05/2012 10:00

Nice to hear from you Yorky, glad everything is going well. Neither of my DDs fed much overnight tbh, and I'd be inclined to think if she needed more food she'd ask for it. But then, I don't know anything about jaundice, and have no medical knowledge at all (sorry, that wasn't much help was it???). DH sounds like he's being a star, very jealous of your extra space. Am planning a day of eBay today in an attempt to make space here!

LittleSarah I heard about the "progress bar" line up the butt crack (as mentioned in the dilation article) from my Doula when I was having DD2. No-one got to see if I had it though, as my Doula was charged with the job of making sure my bum was covered at all times! It was quite funny - I remember every so often the sheet slipped down, and then feeling her pull it back up to cover my modesty!!!! Hope your essay is coming along well. Glad DH managed to sort his cupboard. My DH has a basket (yes, a tiny, little basket) that has needed doing since last year, but has he done it??? Has he?????? Think I will "persuade" him this weekend to sort it out.

The nursery curtains were done and hung by teatime yesterday, lovely fabric, nice hand sewn linings, really cute beaded trim along the tops (DD1 admiring this very much - might have to make her something with the left over trim on it!). Quite proud of myself - always makes me realise how much I miss having the space / time to sew when I make something nice. Will definitely have to formulate some sort of plan for restarting my business when this one goes to school Grin! When the DDs were in the bath, I unpacked more nursery stuff, so there is stuff on the shelves now and it looks a bit more like a bedroom than a storage unit. Then when the DDs were in bed, I went through the whole mending / sewing pile and sorted that. Was feeling really proud of myself till I realised I was walking with a limp Shock, then decided I might have overdone things a bit and went to bed - it was half past midnight. DH would kill me if he was here....

Planning to pack the hospital bag now, then list a load of eBay stuff for the rest of the day.

LittleSarah · 01/05/2012 10:04

Morning all

I am definitely feeling better this morning, still a bit nauseous but nothing compared to last couple of days thank goodness.

Essay has been thoroughly red penned this morning and later I will update on computer version and hopefully send off tomorrow.

Yorky - I'm sure dd is fine but not surprised you are worrying, that is what we do isn't it! At least you are still getting regular midwife visits for the moment so hopefully she will advise if necessary. I wish my dh was as organised as yours but to be fair I think on paternity leave he might be...

Will just update the list with wriggle...

Glad you're feeling a bit better LittleSarah. Well done with the essay!

purestcocoa · 01/05/2012 11:09

Thank you for the birth story Ladybee and well done for achieving your VBAC!

Congratulations wriggle and enjoy your bundle of joy!

You both have chosen lovely names.

Bodeccia I am due on Sunday and I'm pretty much sorted. I just need few more muslin cloths to put on a pillow when I breastfeed. Does anyone recommend a breastfeeding pillow? I'm not sure if I need one or not Confused.

DP is being really supportive, but I just want to put the logistics of moving and working to one side and concentrate on giving birth, meeting our DD and bonding as a family. It's difficult because we work so far from each other. I guess we'll have to meet in the middle somehow for the short term.

Harecare- I'll try your chiropractor's advice too and keep it moving when I get what I think are contractions. I have my first acupuncture session this Friday, so that should move things along and means I can aviod having a sweep. I'll then have two more sessions if nothing happens. I almost want her to wait a bit just so I can give the acupuncture a try Grin.

Hope all is well with everyone else.

BlueCrane · 01/05/2012 11:10

Grin huge congrats wriggle fantastic news!!

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts...had a lovely day with DH yesterday, very very relaxing as he decided that he hadn't actually got the energy to go out either so we had a chilled lunch and then watched I slept on the sofa a DVD in the afternoon before popping out to get a yummy Lebanese takeaway and then watched another DVD which I managed to stay awake through! I was going to go to the docs this morning re. the heartburn but a) the weather was seriously wet and horrid when i woke up poor excuse I know! b) thought I'd do a food diary for the next couple of days and see if the less stress being off work now helps with it and c) I have to go to docs to see the MW on thursday anyway so may as well see the doc then rather than making two trips! So far heartburn is a bit better today and wasn't actually too bad last night considering how much I stuffed my face with the yummy food Blush so here's hoping it may have been stress/tiredness related Hmm And I haven't had any more cramps either - yeah!!

All these arrivals and talk of births is making me think I need to crack on with my birthing plan! DH also concerned we don't know enough about breathing techniques as it was rather skimmed over in the NCT classes (bit irritated as this was one of the main things I wanted to get from the course!). Anyone know any good resources for reading/watching on breathing?

catsy I also need to get on the eBay wagon...at least I got stuff a bit organised over the weekend even if I did totally miss the 'free listing' oh well...hope your listign is going well!

Right...back to my to-do list...might be cake baking time for DH's lunches over the next week and some for me obviously

cupcakefairy · 01/05/2012 12:13

cocoa for ds I just used whatever cushion or pillow was to hand for breastfeeding (cos u do need something to support your arm or baby) so no technically a 'proper' feeding pillow isn't necessary but I've treated myself to a wiggle one this time as they were cheap in Asda baby event :)

blue I think you're right stress doesn't help the heartburn, mine has been at its worst the nights when I've had a tiring/stressful day beforehand. Don't know much about breathing techniques but remember something about visualising a gold glow on the hypnobirthing cd which helped me a bit last time.. must listen to it again!

yorky still no name for that girl?? :) hope the jaundice clears up soon.

Right lunch then midwife for me, have peed in my pot (so awkward) & v much hoping baby will be even further down now..

cupcakefairy · 01/05/2012 12:25

Ooh and nobody has announced..it's May!! :) let the birthing begin Grin
