Hoping to carry on the brilliant thread started by misscoffeenwine which was so popular we got to 1000 posts before starting another - come over and join me...... Promise to think of a more original name for Part 3!

HeffalumpsAndWoozles · 15/05/2012 13:35

Hi all another Christmas baby on the way can I join pls? DC2 due on 17/09/12. Fairly new to MN wish I'd seen this thread earlier! Hope all is well with everyone and their beautiful bumps :)

sclayton · 16/05/2012 03:36

Hi all. I have been following this thread. DC2 due on 19/9/12. Had to visit the scan center 5 times to complete the 20 week scan! I am in the surprise team.
MissCoffeeNWine, Thanks for the instructions for home-made wipes. I will definitely try it out.

sclayton · 16/05/2012 03:40

Oops, due date is 13/9/12 and as per scan 4/9/12. :)

TinkerMaloo · 16/05/2012 13:29

Hello all and welcome to the the new joiners!

Making my own wipes etc sounds like another task I will never ever actually get round to! It took me about an hour last night to sew 2 cubs badges on DS's jumper.... Hats off to those that can be bothered lol.

I have decided that I want a homebirth :)

I think it will be the most pleasant way to deal with the whole situation and means my DD (currently 19 months and clingy) will not have to be away from me very much at all. It is all going to go perfectly to plan and I will begin labouring gently all day (while entertaining her as usual) and then once DS is home from school and they are all fed and watered etc and put to bed then my contractions will start to come on full force and I will give birth later that evening.

This way I avoid all seperation trauma for DD and I dont even need anyone to come and sit with the kids! (MIL is 4 hours away, my mother is useless and has not offered to help) Of course I will be amost silent and they will sleep through every bit of it to find their new brother happily snuggled in bed with me in the morning. :)

Whats the betting?

Just got to get DP on side as he's the type that likes to go to hospital for a sore throat....

york67 · 16/05/2012 13:47

Hi. Had scan today. All seems well. We didn't even ask about sex. I didn't want to know but I think dh would have liked to know.

ladygagoo · 16/05/2012 15:03

Hello to all the new ladies as well :)

Tinker I'm loving your optimism.. Grin Tell you what, just in case
it doesn't all go to plan, you want me to be a back up? (I live just outside Basingstoke) or alternatively I can offer you a DM or a DMIL, both are lovely and fairly local... that is of course unless I go into labour the same time as you :) in which case all bets will be off.

misscoffee fair play on making your own wipes - and there I was thinking I was pretty good for making all the food for DSS's party on Saturday. (might need to readjust my impressive mum gauge)

Thali34 · 16/05/2012 15:06

Welcome to all the new ladies!

tinker that sounds great!! :o If only!!

But stick to your guns and I hope you can get the experience you want!
I love the idea of it but this is my first time and probably a bit scared. They don't encourage home for first timers anyway!

cjbk sorry to hear About the restless legs!! I've had it once or twice but it's horrid! Not stretching but flexing feet helped a bit.

shelly I'm getting lots of headaches too! I just hack it to be honest, or nap if it's the weekend. I'm quite prone to headaches anyway so possibly have a fairly high pain threshold for them but I'm sure these are pregnancy/hormone induced! You can take paracetamol, but not much else. Try keep well hydrated?

Interesting to hear of everyone's preparations! I've yet to get started, but have begun decluttering! Still have to make the big buggy decision so all the tips are very welcome!

oikopolis · 16/05/2012 16:26

had a massive nesting sesh yesterday evening. the baby's room was, until yesterday, basically the junk/storage room. it now sort of looks like an actual bedroom.

i moved all sorts of crap out of it and put it into proper storage in the basement. got the measuring tape out. moved some stuff around etc. even worked out the average size of a baby crib and made sure there was enough space for it.

am very relieved to report that everything, including a mahoosive oversize comfy armchair for moi, fits!

so i am 22 weeks pregnant and the baby's room, which we'll likely only use six months after birth in any case, is now sorted!! despite how ridiculous that sounds i am disproportionately pleased :)

moogs1000 · 16/05/2012 16:54

Hi all , tinker that homebirth sounds perfect, I'll keep my fingers crossed for u!
I got dh to get all dd's stuff out of loft and its filled our spare room, forgot how much stuff we'd accumulated! Started washing any whites and neutrals just to keep me busy and stop me spending more!
Would u trust a new Moses basket mattress off ebay or would u use mothercare or somewhere more reputable?

TinkerMaloo · 16/05/2012 18:01

Ladygagoo thanks for the offer! (whereabouts are you? fancy a decaf in town one day?) I already have a few local mums who have offered to watch the big'uns for me if I need them to while I serenely birth #3 in the comfort of the living room (one is an experienced childminder and lives about ten houses away so if I need to, it will probably her that I call on)

I still dont fancy the idea of anyone looking after them though as DD is very much a mummys girl and has never spent any time away from either me or DP and doesnt really know any of the people that have offered to help (aside from my sister but I'm not sure I would trust her with the rabbits never mind the kids...)

Thali I wouldnt have even considered a homebirth for #1 and it is wise to do the test run in hospital I reckon! My first wasnt easy, but the second was better so I am confident that #3 will be easy as pie!

My house currently looks like a massive car boot sale as I have been spending the last few weeks decluttering and we are off to do a boot sale on Sunday, though I doubt even half of it will actually fit in the car boot. Cant wait to see the back of it all.. My DD has a cupboard in her room that is full to the brim with old wires and pc parts and crap that DP has been hanging onto just incase, so all of DDs clothes are in one chest of drawers and hanging off the cupboard door handle... but I think now that DC3 is on the way (and will be eventually sharing the room with DD) DP has finally realised that he has to actually make some space for the poor little mite!

I have been buying too many tiny things! I told myself I wouldnt but I cant help it.. We have a lot of stuff in neutrals still from DD and I dyed a load of pink stuff blue to save costs etc (dont think he will mind pink poppers on his blue sleepsuits) but if its cute and its a bargain then I am finding it hard not to buy it. The sales are so good at the minute!

moogs I trust ebay implicitly as long as the seller has good feedback! Never been ripped off or been sold dodgy stuff yet, and I use it alot for buying and selling.

cjbk1 · 16/05/2012 21:00

Cheers thali I'm making myself excercise everyday on top of work and usual parentingtonight was Pilates seems to help but last night I was worried about work stuff so didn't sleep anyway Sad

shellybop · 17/05/2012 09:37

wow HUNGRY DAY today!!!

you are all very organised! i haven't even thought about buying anything or sorting anything out yet. maybe i should actually start looking...

Tinker- your plan sounds amazing - i hope it all works out perfectly.

i think i'm going to try making a baby blanket for my LO that i can snuggle him into from birth. i think it will be really nice ot know that i've made his snuggly blankie myself.

CamillaD · 17/05/2012 09:53

Hi there - please can I join? I'm 21 weeks, expecting a little girl due on 23rd September (my first). Not sure what all the acronyms mean but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it?

CamillaD · 17/05/2012 09:58

oooh, and quick question - I'm sure my midwife said I had to have an appointment with my doctor before I see her at the beginning of July (when I'll be 28 weeks). Does anyone know which week of pregnancy you're meant to make that appointment?

WinterMymble · 17/05/2012 12:18

Oh yes the dreams! Seriously sexy dreams, all quite improbable. (I read in the Mumsnet Pregnancy book one woman was beset with erotic dreams about Boris Johnson - I have been spared those!)

I have gained nearly 10 KG - not sure what that is in lbs ... but people are still saying I am slim and people at work still can't tell I'm pregnant (at least not when I am wearing strategic hoodie tops, which I am). It's 5.5 months today so it is getting a bit mysterious I am getting away with it! (My managers etc know, but nobody else has noticed anything)

Is everybody else totally public at work by now?

I am getting so massively excited about it all and the little one. Very difficult to concentrate on other things!

WinterMymble · 17/05/2012 12:20

Oikopolis your nesting sounds brilliant - very inspiring! Our nursery is still veyr much a junk room and I am not 100% sure it has a floor, since I haven't seen it for months ;) - we have to get onto this!

Hopefully can clear some stuff out this weekend. Baby furniture is so scarily expensive though - we were ogling the John Lewis brochure and it's so out of our range. We are going to go to Ikea to see if anything is any good there....

ladygagoo · 17/05/2012 12:32

You've all made me start to de-clutter - thank you!!
(all my stuff that is, about 5 years worth of make-up, jewellery, handbags and clothes etc which, lets face it, I'm very unlikely to use again) the bump can get a look-in when I've created some space.

tinker I'm in Oakley, deffo up for a de-caff one day - PM me

Welcome CamillaD - I'm on my first DC and yes, you are supposed to see the GP on week 25 (if its your first) then the MW at week 28... which reminds me, I'd better make my appointment as well

Good news on your scans Sclayton and York :)

Loup23 · 17/05/2012 15:49

Hi ladies, lovely to catchy to catch up with all the news, I am also inspired to start getting rid of old bits and bobs and make some sort of space for the little one!

ladygagoo and tinkeri'm just north of Bstoke but having the baby at North Hants (same as you guys?) - up for a decaf too if you arrange Smile

MissCoffeeNWine · 17/05/2012 19:42

I am also planning on giving birth in the night as DD sleeps. The other option is to give birth in the day with her helping. Haha. I wouldn't be surprised if that happened. She'd love it that way! She was DC1 and born at home, good job, it would have been a disaster otherwise. She likes her birth story and is wanting me to have the baby in her bedroom so it can be born in the same place she was. I can't see it happening personally, if there's one thing that's worse than giving birth it's kneeling on lego, I don't think I can handle both at the same time Grin I'd take bets on a bathroom floor baby, bedroom if I'm lucky. It'd be an even bet as to whether it ends up being unassisted. Or assisted only by a 6 year old. Oooh, what I wouldn't give for a crystal ball!

When I do the declutter/nesting bit (which is planned for between 28-32 weeks!) it'll start to feel real. If I get to 37 weeks I'll make myself a little nest to go and give birth in should I feel the need. Don't imagine I'll need it at 37 weeks, more like 42, but if you don't have it you'll need it and all that stuff. And then I won't leave the house, probably, in case the baby falls out in the street.

pgreen · 18/05/2012 12:16

love ?TinkerMaloo* plan too funny for words and sounds idyllic. finger crossed.

I'm not so much nesting oikopolis as knocking down and starting again (occupational hazard). Once the builders go, in theory 2 weeks, then the decorator starts.

I have a carboot planned for next weekend so this weekend is the house rampage - what isn't essential or nailed down is off. (Fingers crossed it doesn't rain as I'll need the garden to sort it out)

We bought our first baby things last week whilst we were away just a couple of babygrows - made me grin from ear to ear.

Had my mw appt yesterday and heard his little heart beat. Next appt the lucozade test apparently! I mentioned my pins and needles and she's asked me to keep an eye on the regularity. Was really nice to chat through the c-section questions I had - she seemed to have time and made me feel relieved.

Looks like I may have a week of work in London nect week - dreading the tube and rush hour generally.....

flipflopper · 19/05/2012 11:29

Where is everyone! Hope you are all having a nice weekend. I'm working this weekend (boooo), but the end is near! Ive booked all my holiday starting from the last weekend in July and finishing at the end of August, then maternity leave beginning! Am due on the 9th Sept, so it's worked out well, and Im really looking forward to the summer holiday! My job is quite physical (home care) so I will be glad of the rest!

I have booked my 4d scan! Am so excited about it! It's on the 21st June, and we are taking the children (7 and 11) so it will be really nice for them too.

I'm feeling really well at the moment, and getting loads of movement, especially in the evenings!
Hope everyone else is doing well too xxx

oikopolis · 19/05/2012 16:15

i'm also having a lot of evening movement now :)
DH finally managed to feel a kick :) i'm not sure he completely believed me when i said i could feel so much!

he was amazed at how distinct it was, he said he thought the baby would just be rolling/turning over, not doing actual karate chops at my insides. lol

Hotcupofteaplease · 19/05/2012 21:15

Hi all, hope you're feeling well!

I can't remember who mentioned headaches earlier on (Shelly?); I had unbearable, constant headaches a couple of weeks ago, similar to what I had when I was pg with DS. Took myself off to the doctors a few times, on the last occasion he discovered I had protein and White cells in my urine so I went on a 5 day course of antibiotics. Might be worth getting checked in case you have a water infection?

Flipflopper we have the same due date; I'm taking holidays from the 10th August & then mat leave from 1st Sept... Cannot wait! I'm also pondering a 4D scan, I really want to confirm the sex after they got DS wrong...

I am finally starting to feel movement and kicks (anterior placenta), it's so reassuring Grin I had a cinnamon waffle after tea the other night and baby went berserk!

TMI alert; I am really struggling with 'going to the toilet'. I have problems at the best of times, but this is agony Sad

Hope you're all having a good weekend x

MrsHelsBels74 · 19/05/2012 21:50

Yesterday I most definitely had a bump sticking out of my side!

shoeprincess2 · 21/05/2012 14:37

Hi September ladies! Just checking in as haven't posted for a bit (but have been reading the thread). Had my 24 week fetal cardiac scan this morning- am pleased to report that all well with bambino and everything in its right place and developing at the right pace. Phew. Then I had my antenatal check- BP borderline high, so need to have another BP check with the midwife next week. Thing is, at home (with my home monitoring kit), it comes out as 124/72 pretty much regularly (at different times of the day as well). I did explain that over an hour's wait for the antenatal appointment in a hot, sticky waiting room, did nothing for my anxiety. Plus, I have had a few other worries over the weekend. Oh well, I hope my BP reading is ok next Tuesday, or I suspect it'll be further monitoring and maybe medication. Anyone else having BP issues? xx
