Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
DesperateHousewife21 · 10/03/2012 21:00

I was on the bed the whole time with ds and even though it took just 7 hours I was pushing for a long time and im sure it's because I was lying down with my legs in stirrups.

I love OBEM, it doesn't put me off doing it again, it's such a short amount of time compare to the rest of their lives. As long as they arrive safely :)

Front and back hurt now on the right side, hope everything's ok Confused

pipsicles · 10/03/2012 21:18

SO sorry BBM (thanks!) and Boo - I KNEW I'd get confused!

I refused to watch OBEM when it was on last year until after I had given birth myself! Now even DH likes to sit with me and says things like 'wow! You did really well compared to her' and he's told me how proud he is of me after seeing how other women do. I think it's good for them to realise what we go through, plus, it gives my ego a bit of a boost! I love watching it now and it doesn't scare me at all because I've done it once. (I know they are all different, but am also strongly of the opinion that if you approach it with a positive attitude, then things are more likely to turn out positive - detective probably thinks me naive, but I'm happiest that way Grin) Thanks for reminding me about it OMG - I'd forgotten that I still need to watch this week's episode!

I'm living my Saturday up with a (well done) steak and fizzy water with lemon and lime!

pipsicles · 10/03/2012 21:24

I agree re birthing on their backs too! I'm always shocked how many women are lying down. I did birth on my back, but didn't want to. I was progressing nicely standing up, but midwife made me kneel on the bed, which slowed things down and I ended up on my back. Wasn't pushing for too long though, so it was okay. This time I will be a bit more vocal about making sure I get what I want (hopefully a water birth, so completely different experience anyway).

To all you first timers - it is the most amazing experience in my humble opinion and definitely worth looking forward to and going through!

Anyone planning on doing pg yoga? I would thoroughly recommend - I think it made all the difference to me!

Little9 · 10/03/2012 22:21

Hello everyone. My dog is called Boomer but gets called Boo, BooBoo and a whole host of not so nice names when he eats stuff when we're out! Actually, to be fair to him he's got over that now thankfully; but he has in the past had a great liking for chocolate and birth control pills (no, that's not why I am pg, lol!!!).

DH - keep it up. I used to just go and have a glass of water or some fruit when I had a craving. Or snapped my DH's head off!! I also used nicotine gum but the only problem with that was I ended up with an achey jaw and a really sore inside mouth from chewing too much!!! I'm sure it'll get easier soon.
I keep getting a pain on my right hand side under my ribs. Not sure what it is and seems to be too high to be baby. Wind, maybe? Blush

Woke up at 7am this morning absolutely starving. Am eating for about 9 at the moment. I'm going to be the size of a house soon, but can't help it! And I'm constantly tired. Have also felt slightly nauseous all day.

Daren't watch OBEM. May watch it later on, if I get there. Hmm

Have always been forgetful and clumsy, but getting worse at the moment. At least I have an excuse now!!

Take care everyone. Sorry for the essay.

blonderthanred · 11/03/2012 00:20

Little, your dog sounds lovely. I'm also getting an odd pain but really low and at the side, almost above my hip iyswim. Feels a bit like a stitch but I am trying to persuade myself it is all part & parcel of pregnancy. Tbf I have been at work for 14 hrs today so am bloody exhausted.

So much for keeping it quiet, a work colleague was playing with my iPhone and very loudly said 'What's this for? Are you pregnant?' when she saw my baby centre pg app. I'm a crap liar so now she and another colleague know, they are good friends though so it's ok.

Stuntnun · 11/03/2012 07:15

Morning all. I slept for 12 hours - 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Shock How am I going to get anything done at this rate? I usually get about 7 hours a night.

DesperateHousewife21 · 11/03/2012 07:23

I was woken at 2am by ds then I needed a wee and couldn't get comfy because of the backache.

little I'm doing anything I can to stave off the cravings. Mostly by eating and drinking LOADS of tea.

ellesabe · 11/03/2012 08:07

Can I join your club? Grin

had my bfp this morning so think I'm due mid-Nov. I'm going to get a clear blue later to confirm.

DesperateHousewife21 · 11/03/2012 08:20

ellesabe! Welcome to the club Grin soooo happy for you!

OMGBFP · 11/03/2012 09:53

Hello ellesabe :) conggratulations Thanks

I did another test this morning as was a bit concerned that my boobs felt nice and soft and unouchy again and it's the strongest test yet, as strong as the control line, so I'm happy with that :)
Got a bit naughty last night and started looking for clothes etc and bookmarking stuff Shock far too early to buy but I can look can't I? can't I?!

have good days all :)

Elizadoesdolittle · 11/03/2012 10:00

Hi girls and welcome and congratulations to all newbies.

I haven't posted much recently as I have had terrible back pain. I did something to it on Wednesday and could hardly walk on weds and thurs. it's a lot better than it was but still quite painful. I don't think it's pregnancy related but that doesn't help. Will mention it when I got to register my pregnancy on Friday with the gp.

dh21 good luck with the non smoking. My last cigarette was on 21st jan 2004. Is it sad that I still remember the date! Keep it up, you can do it. I kept having a lollipop every time I got a craving and thought I'd become addicted to those instead!

I will add my details to the stats soon. I mostly post from my phone but will log on from my laptop later.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. I went out for drinks on Friday and the first thing my friend presented me with was a shot of sambucca. Luckily everyone was so drunk by the time I got there they didn't realise I wasn't drinking. I did have a pint of shandy though but I made it last for ages and looked like I had a pint lined up everytime somebody asked me if I wanted a drink. How I'm going to get away with it for the next time though I'll never know!

Jayney10 · 11/03/2012 10:35

Hello! Its Boonumber2 here, I changed me name :0) Jayney will do me just fine!

Just going to nip back and read the thread from yesterday.

Ooooh is anyone on their second pregnancy finding they have different symptoms? I was very hungry and tired with DS and cried at the drop of a hat. never had MS. This time I am still tired (sooooo tired), headachy, off my food and have a horrible watery mouth and nausea, and no tearyness at all! It's really strange! Oh yes, and my memory is so poor already.

POAS again this morning and it is much darker than yesterday hurray! am a bit jumpy because I cannot believe how lucky we are to be pregnant again and also I am only 3+5... bit nervous.

ALSO nooooo it is not my birthday today :0) It is my birthday on the 21st though, hurray!

x jayney

PS congrats new peeps!

jarvo84 · 11/03/2012 10:45

Hello, can I join the club too? Had a positive test on Friday (first ever one!) and just done another one, both Clear Blue digital tests saying 1-2 weeks... We actually know when we conceived as we literally started trying two weeks ago last Friday!

Last Saturday I started feeling really sick and we jokingly said, "Already? Haha, we must be the most fertile people in Britain..." Erm... yeah, apparently we are! Got an appointment with the doctor on Tuesday. Feeling a bit surreal at the moment as it's happened straightaway, full of questions but obviously can't tell anyone as it's so early on. If anyone could help to put my mind at rest, I'd be grateful. I'm already exhausted and feeling sick as a dog all the time - is this normal so early on? Also, as we know pretty much to the day when we conceived, do I just count 40 weeks on from them to get an approximate due date?

Many thanks in advance!

OMGBFP · 11/03/2012 10:46

I'm on my third Jayney (with an 18year gap between DC2 and this one!! Shock ) and from what I remember, with DC1 I as sick once in the morning and that would be it, and was for about 3 weeks. I had the fatigue badly though for a couple of weeks I would come home from work, eat tea and zonk. it's how it was guessed by my Nan that I was duffed Blush

With DC2 I hadn't any symptoms of any kind whatsoever - to the point that I was almost 5 months gone by the time I realised Blush

This time round, I have smell aversion in food, and possibly colour aversion too, was just thinking on the loo Blush I am only eating plain beige food, and the thought of having greens and carrots etc on sunday roast later is not going down too well! I have had the runs on and off, sore boobs on and off, and the pulling crampy stuff. I'm only 5 weeks though so plenty of time yet.

i've just put a cheese pizza in the oven for my brekkie Blush with extra cheese Grin

OMGBFP · 11/03/2012 10:49

ooh x posted, hello, congratulations :)

I used the NHS online due date calculator, yoput in the date of the first day of your last period and it works it out by that, even though you know you only started trying 2 weeks ago, they'll class it as 4 weeks :)

jarvo84 · 11/03/2012 10:59

Thanks, I've done that and it's the 23rd November. I can't get my head round it being 4 weeks as I know it's two! Also my periods had been very irregular beforehand, so I'm not sure how accurate it would be. Ah well, I should probably just be patient and wait until I've spoken to the doctor on Tuesday :)

Jayney10 · 11/03/2012 11:03

hey Jarvo congrats! YEP you can have symptoms whenever they decide to appear ;) I have been off my food with this one since the day I conceived (I was charting so I know when I ovulated) but put it down to the flu but am still just not keen on eating so guess it must have been the pregnancy. And stuff has been reet smelly and I have been hating loud music (weird symptom I know, I had it with DS - I cannot stand loud bass or heavy beats when normally I am a Radio one listener... so when I stopmed over and switched the 'very loud' radio off last week I did wonder!)

And have you tried using the due date calculator on this site - think the link is to the right of the screen? That's how I worked mine out :0) It's very exciting.

OMG I love your eating habits atm. I was off all greens and colour too (and very into meat and baked goods) with DS. This time is different - I bought myself some strawberries yesterday because they looked amazing which I never do - i am not really a fruit person!

And I take it back about not feeling teary this pregnancy, for some reason I nearly welled up while cleaning the chopping board a minute ago and it made me chuckle - i forgot how you can just want to cry for literally NO reason!

UG no labouring on our backs ladies! I love OBEM but largely because it is surreal to me - I had a lovely calm, quick home birth (3hrs 45 mins!) with two midwives all to myself and my birthing pool and my DH (then DP). never ever laid on my back :)

I better work. Can I ask what you ladies do when you are not being all preggo? I am 6 weeks away from handing in my PhD thesis. Actual submission is the 31 May when I can lie back and rub my tum and not have to write another bastard WORD.

laters y'all :)
x Jayney

Stuntnun · 11/03/2012 11:11

Jayney I'm impressed you're writing your PhD thesis, I remember the pain when DH did his! I actually work for a pharmaceutical company that specialises in women's medication such as oral contraceptives so I'm bound to get a ton of sarcastic comments when 12 weeks arrives and I get to make the big announcement!

Stuntnun · 11/03/2012 11:13

Is it too soon to start thinking about names? I like Emily if it's a girl but I have no clue for a boy's name having used up all my faves on DS1 and DS2.

OMGBFP · 11/03/2012 11:18

Grin stuntnun that's hilarious!

I've tried to think about names but can't think of anything i vaguely like despite spending years previously choosing names i would give babies when I was TTC.
OH has said he wants two family names for a boy, i said fine but they are middles neither of them i like enough to be firsts (despite one being OH's name!)
have been reading the names thread for some ideas but nothing is doing.

DesperateHousewife21 · 11/03/2012 12:51

Ive got a girls name in mind but I'm keeping names a secret.
We told everyone ds' name before he was born so there was no surprise left (except he was early so that was a surprise in itself!)

I'm feeling v teary I've cried every day for the last 3 days but don't know if that's preg or giving up smoking, or both!

SootySweepandSue · 11/03/2012 12:55

Hi ladies, I'm signing up!

Due date is either 11th or 18th depending on whether you count in my long cycle.

Have DD1 already who is 18 months.

Feeling excited but nervous as one MC already and DD was a threatened MC that turned out ok.

Looking forward to chatting as I won't be telling the world till after the 12 week scan....

SootySweepandSue · 11/03/2012 12:59

Just wanted to add my main symptom is dizziness. Nearly passed out on the roundabout at the park with DD. Ditto when picking up some Vits from the bottom shelf in Boots. I can take a bit of dizziness if I can hold out on the nausea...Wink

ellesabe · 11/03/2012 14:05

I have been quite dizzy too sooty as well as generally feeling generally poo. I had the runs last weekend too omg and I assumed it was something I'd eaten Blush

Oh and as for baby names, I already have a lust as long as my arm...and I only had my bfp this morning Grin

It still hasn't quite sunk in yet. I told my best friend this morning as she is expecting too...that made it seem a bit more real.

ellesabe · 11/03/2012 14:06

Errr I mean I have a list as long as my arm...not lust!!! Grin
