Ok, I did it!

Now shall we get our stats down again? I think we have had some joiners since we last did it.
Copy/paste the list and add yourself to it.

Colditz - due 06/04/06, aged 25, DP aged 32, 1 DS aged 2.9, having a baby boy! Very scared of needles....

aaww secreteater I know exactly how you felt when they told you s/he'd turned. I went around smirking for the rest of the day when they told me!!

I still can't decide whether or not to buy a double buggy. Littlest DD loves to walk everywhere now but that's not to say she might not need a rest now and then. I saw on another thread some fairly bad reviews about the Buggypod which I had fancied, so will give that a miss.

Am also thinking of getting a sling so I can "wear" this baby. I have a feeling if he is left in littlest DD's reach terrible things may happen Grin.

AND I don't know about anyone else with little ones but I am starting to get very rattled about all the various practicalities of two little uns. Who gets seen to first when they cry? What about changing nappies? Will DD be jealous? Will she still love me? Will the baby love me? (I'm losing my mind)

pepperrabbit · 16/03/2006 11:40

Allyco, I have all the same questions re coping with two... I mean how do you get time to go to the loo (on your own preferably!). At the moment both the cat and DS like to come with me - there simply isn't room for anyone else in our bathroom as well Smile
I guess one of them just has to cry for longer than the other - it's feeding that's going to be my problem I suspect. DS used to take well over an hour for each feed as a baby, but can't really entertain himself for an hour each time the baby needs feeding? I hear the call of a Bob the Builder DVD....
Am still in my dressing gown by the way here, tho have been up since 6.45. Am very unmotivated to do all the dull things on today's list!
Off to the shower. See, decisive.

spots · 16/03/2006 16:15

Yes the whole two babies thing is very much at the front of my mind too. My knee is the top spot as far as DD is concerned; the newborn might get a wee look in for a feed maybe once a weeke if he or she is lucky...

Allyco things do seem not to be going your way, I am sorry that the saga is continuing. You must feel quite worn out.

Things here are fine, I also had a dressing-gown type morning. I have bursts of energy, but only bursts! Default setting is torpor. Have said I will go and join a discussion on pregnancy for a magazine next Tuesday which should be fun, can't remember the name of the magazine though. I am mainly going so that I can visit a fabric shop near the newspaper offices, which are in Dundee! (Debithescot, will say hello from you...) This is nesting as it ought to be. Kitchen designer coming to see us on Monday; roll of flooring for porch in hall. Phew, finally. But not sure if I mentioned I failed my driving test? That was last Friday. Have I not posted since then? Gawd, time really is whooshing by.

DebitheScot · 17/03/2006 14:01

wow, there's been lots of excitment here. I've enjoyed my 1st week of mat leave and I know what you all mean about clothes, not having anything to wear to work could have been a problem this week, still have 2 pairs of jeans but not much room left.

I also went to Asda to get cheap nighties but couldn't bring myself to get the "number 1 mum" one. Found a pack of 2 for £4 so that was a good bargain.

Gaviscon is the best invention ever by the way! Got some after a moan to the midwife on Tues and could live off the stuff I think!

petunia · 17/03/2006 16:09

Afternoon all,
I'm having a problem with clothes too, and I don't even work! I've worn through my favourite pair of jeans. I frantically keep stitching them, but they wear through again! I've only got 2 pairs of jeans, 1 pair of denim dungarees and 1 pair of trousers, and I've had to stitch the trousers too. Really don't want to buy any more maternity things.

I went to the midwife yesterday. Had a student midwife there as well, so was poked and prodded twice. Baby is head down and the student m/w laughed because she could feel the baby had a hard little bottom sticking out! These midwives can't seem to decide on my dates. The one yesterday said I was 33+5 but all the others have been working on my changeover day being Fridays, so I thought I was 34wks today.

Hope everyone else is well.

Emma7 · 17/03/2006 19:04

Hello everyone, hope you are all ok.

Feeling totally knackered - glad I'm finishing work at the wnd of next week!

Went to our first antenatal class last night - it was hilarious. The midwife was like a female Peter Kay. She had the whole class in stitches.
She is a qualified hypnotherapist and did some relaxation with us at the end - thought DH would take the p*ss but even he admitted it was really good. Next week she will give us a CD to practise with.

They have a water birth pool in the unit and I was thinking about putting it in my birthing plan. Has anyone on here had a water birth? What do you think about them?

pepperrabbit · 20/03/2006 11:04

Morning all, hope everyone had a good weekend. Emma7, no experience here of a waterbirth I'm afraid but I've not heard any bad things about them tbh.
DS is really snotty this morning and in the kind of mood that goes with that when you're a toddler. I've got diabetic clinic this afternoon but don't think I'll be having another scan today.
More excitingly - I became an Auntie again at 3 am this morning! My brother and girlfriend had a little girl after going in a 6am yesterday - we were all on tenterhooks all day. It's their first so very exciting - 6lb 13oz and no name yet. I'm going to try to pop in and see them while at the hospital this afternoon.
Trouble is - means it's my go next!

tootiredtotalk · 20/03/2006 11:07

hope you dont mind, but if anyone is having a girlie, take at look at my link and also have others bits typed up. let me know but have a look at \link{http://emarsden1.photosite.com\this}

tonton · 20/03/2006 11:21

Well I had a very nice weekend. It was my birthday & DH took me out to lunch. He also gave me a pendant with very small - but reall nonetheless - diamonds!! Quite a bargain from high street jeweller Ernest Jones (chosen by me natch).
Last week at work hooray!I now have my isofix britax car seat (new), a maclaren techno xt (off ebay), a moses basket (from friend) and a breastpump. No sterilizer though. Getting there....

allyco · 20/03/2006 11:21

morning all. Am still here but hoping every day that today's the day!! I've never gone past 38 weeks with any of my others and I'm 37 now so.....

Was going to try curry and pineapple and stuff but think that only works if you're ready to go into labour anyway. Believe me, when you feel like this, you will do ANYTHING.

tootiredtotalk · 20/03/2006 11:43

hi tonton....i have a tommee tippee microwave sterliser in extremely good condition. Just stopped using it as dd old enough not to sterlise thank god.

pepperrabbit · 20/03/2006 13:16

tonton - lucky girl! I always think diamonds are the perfect present!! Grin
off to the hospital now, being calm and not over excited by new niece in case blood pressure goes up again!

spots · 20/03/2006 13:38

Congrats pepperrabbit, how lovely. Let us know what she is called when they decide? We had a 9 week old (Ailsa! awww) here yesterday and she made me feel v. happy about babies. Esp seeing her bfeeding away , which is odd as I had a helluva time with DD at the beginning. Just looked so heartwarming on someone else!

I have a scan booked tomorrow for this one as it's still measuring small for dates. Mwife said its head's 'well down' though, so am not overly worried. Not about its size anyway... more that it might not be late after all! Have rather been banking on that extra couple of weeks...

Still in a real dither about names, can't agree on any. The few we have agreed on are Morna or Marianne for girls and Joseph and Xander for boys. Not sure whether we ae brave enough to add Dennis to our boy list, as it gets snorts of derision from some, but we both loved it for DD if she'd been male and it's still making the running this time around.

Needless to say, if I get a peek at the relevant bits tomorrow I'll be able to narrow down the list a bit...

Secreteater · 20/03/2006 14:33

After a quiet weekend with no guests and lots of lazy time I am still feeling too tired for words - this morning I cried when I relaised it was time to get up and come to work. Sad I just CAN NOT find a comfy position for sleeping!!!

Still I put on my best wrap around maternity dress (frocks are one of the few things that still fit) and made it to my desk. I have not fallen asleep yet so it must be OK. Two weeks to go until I finish work (and yes I am counting)

Still, reading about Tonton's sparkles, and pepperrabbit's new addition cheered me up. I am dying to see a newborn as my youngest Niece is now 9 and ive forgotten what they look like. Those newborn body suits look impossibly small!

Emma 7 - My best friend had a waterbirth with her second and LOVED it - she recommends it to anyone who will listen. Im seriosuly considering it myself (going to water birth talk at the hospital next week...)

Spots - all lovely names, Xander is particularly special to me as it was my Nephew's name, we sadly lost him to Asthma just over a year ago aged 10, he was a beautiful boy full of love and life. The name is sweet for a baby and great for a little lad who loves to laugh. Must stop now or I'll be crying at my desk.

On a happier note spring officially starts tomorrow, and as i keep telling everyone its a spring baby it must almost be time!

tonton · 20/03/2006 15:07

Xander and Marianne are lovely.

Remind me, who's planning a vbac?

icklesmudge · 20/03/2006 16:20

Good Morning All,

Had a quiet weekend. DH is away again so i was looking forward to some good sleep.......never happened baby just decided that i didn't need any sleep and kicking and hiccups followed by extreme pelvic pain were his way of letting me know!! Cant believe I only have 3 1/2 weeks to go im getting really nervous now!! Have got everything we need now expect for a travel cot which i need when we go home but i have plenty of time to get it still!!

Spots- Xander is a lovely name. I did suggest it but DH put his foot down and said no(Im a huge Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan and Xander is a main character!!)

TonTon- Glad you enjoyed you birthday. Mine is just after baby is due so I'm just hoping DH remembers to get me a card!! I wouldn't worry to much about a steriliser unless you are planning on bottle feeding from the start. My sister in law never used hers till Shannon was at least 5 months old!

allyco · 20/03/2006 16:26

me tonton - I'm planning VBAC. Will only have a section as last last resort!!!!!

who else?

icklesmudge · 20/03/2006 16:38

Sorry going to have to ask a stupid question whats a VBAC?? Grin

CaptainDippy · 20/03/2006 17:35

Virginal Birth After Ceasarean Section! Smile

Ponka · 20/03/2006 20:38

I'm another one hoping for a VBAC - Vaginal (or virginal Smile) birth after section. There's a fair few of us, aren't there?

Happy Birthday, tonton. Glad you had a good time.

Has anyone heard what plans their family have for mother's day? Not a peep here. I might have to jog someone's memory......

pepperrabbit · 20/03/2006 21:00

Hello, back from the hospital - they let me out again! always a relief, though we did have a small discussion about induction dates. Doc said "when are you booked in for" I looked completely blank, and muttered about how they said I wasn't allowed to go over 40 weeks - she looked gobsmacked, and sort of spluttered "40 weeks !!!!". and I got a slight inkling that it was all more urgent than that. (I had glucose + leucocytes + protein in my sample today...)
anyway, her opening bid was 38 weeks (next wed..) so I conceded 39 weeks which is April 5th.
She looked really surprised that I didn't want to be induced. (What planet are they from?)
Right, got that off my chest!
New niece is lovely!!!! I saw her this afternoon and she is soooo small - just diddy. They've called her Keira Lily which is very pretty and I bought them unashamedly pink things as pressiesSmile.
I like Xander, though not so sure about Dennis I have to say, and Marianne is v pretty.

MrsEvs · 20/03/2006 21:01

Happy birthday tonton, diamonds how lovely! And congrats on the new niece pepper, how lovely that they'll be so close in age.

I love the name Xander too spots (could well be as I am also a huge Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan!), and Marianne is lovely too. We've had a total turnaround on names and have now gone off Isobel/Sophia and on to Caroline or Madeleine, but God knows what the poor child will actually end up being called, will probably change our minds again before the time comes.

Had a docs appt on Friday and all well. Head is well down and the cervix in soft and 30% effaced but still no dilation, so she could still be in there a while. Half of me really wants it all to just happen now, and the other half wants to hang on until my Mum gets here on April 10th. I guess I don't get a say in it whatever comes or goes so it doesn't really matter what I want!!

As for bringing on labour allyco, the only thing that worked for me when dd was late was going off-roading in my Jeep ShockGrin, which I did the night before she was born!

Can't remember if I said before or not, but I am having a proper American baby shower this weekend! All the girls in my playgroup over here were horrified to learn that I didn't have one for dd and amused to find out that I had no idea what they really comsisted of, so they are throwing me a very traditional one with all the bells and whistles whatever they are!! I'll let you all know how I got on afterwards. I'm looking forward to it as it should be a bit of fun if nothing else.

spots · 20/03/2006 21:05

Secreteater, so sorry to hear about your nephew. I can see how that must make the name bittersweet for you. What awful things happen to people...

spots · 20/03/2006 21:07

Never watched Buffy in my life by the way!!!

I think it's important to keep the mind-changing factor anyway.

(I said it was tomorrow I had scan, it's actually Wednesday.)
