And I'm glad they've updated those weight charts! Finally! It seemed so contradictory to be recommending bf but not using that in the weighing thing Confused

DreamingOfPeace · 07/02/2012 20:05

yes- weight charts went to bf baby charts May 2010- in time for my DD being born in the September Smile . I was still told they fluctuate as they grow.

pomme, no way could I have saved 2 bags of Thorntons, what restraint!

and scream, a little bit of pate is not going to hurt, I may have lapsed a little with most things by now... Blush . You're not going to O.D on Vit A with one cracker with pate, lets face it!!!

Wants3 · 07/02/2012 20:28

I was given tea and toast after both births! The midwife first time round also went and found a plate of curry for DH from somewhere after he missed lunch and tea!
When I do the nativity at pre-school I add in that the innkeepers bring Mary tea and toast after Jesus was born. It always makes the mums laugh.:)

Little wants was being a pickle today, I hadn't felt him much and just starting to worry when he gave me 3 big visible kicks! Hopefully he carries on this evening. I have a wmip appointment at hospital in the morning so if not I can ask to have him checked out.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 07/02/2012 20:49

D'oh! I'd totally forgotten the vit A thing Dream! It's the listeria risk which is the one I always think of when not having pate, and that one really winds me up because I've never once caught listeria from pate in 28 years of being hooked on it! Despite the vit A thing as well I might still have just a leeeeeeeeetle bit on Valentines, just as a starter Grin

So truly no one else brought in a hamper to the labour ward!?! It's just me who's obsessed with food then!?! Blush

p.s. I don't think I will end up having the pate. I would just have SO much guilt if I caught anything. Grrr so frustrating though!

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 07/02/2012 20:58

Biscuits true about mucous, but mucous can still cause a problem with feeding/breathing in vaginal deliveries, it is one of the reasons why skin to skin is so important, at the very least the baby needs to be held upright to allow the mucous to drain away, just so happens that skin to skin on mum or Dads chest is the perfect place for drainage as well as temp regulation.

Dream I think it is the listeria risk with pate too? And I think I had the bf charts for Dd in may 09 but I guess it might vary by PCT and when they get their acts in gear.

Wants I often have worrying moments but generally I just haven't been paying attention and luckily he bops if I put music on just like his sister did. Lol at tea and toast for Mary!

DreamingOfPeace · 07/02/2012 22:58

Oh, maybe I misread and it was May 09 not 2010 purple. I remember checking it to see if that's why dd was dropping down the centiles and it wasn't!!

Yes, it is the listeria risk with pate too. But I'd be more concerned with the vit A. I was on this work meal with dh and all his gp colleagues (our second meal out ever since dd born!) and said oh I'd love a bit of brie and pate and the general response was- so don't be so bloody daft and have some so I did

DreamingOfPeace · 07/02/2012 22:59

Not that that is good advice I hasten to add, and remember, you'll get no sensible advice or any sympathy at all if you marry/ mix with Gps!

DreamingOfPeace · 07/02/2012 23:01

That sounds wrong too- they of course give correct advice/ sympathy to patients, just are much more blase with their own family I've found!!! so say any non medical friends married to doctors too

Oh...I'll just shut up now...

DreamingOfPeace · 07/02/2012 23:12

And just to make my posts that bit worse, I found out how to add photos to mn from my phone so did two bump pics in my minging pj's with my horrible tummy exposed as i didn't have enough hands to hold t-shirt to show bump otherwise iykwim...

Biscuitsandtea · 08/02/2012 08:13

Can I do a bit of a straw poll?

For those with DC already, what do they generally have for breakfast?

DreamingOfPeace · 08/02/2012 08:38

Currently, blueberry or raisin wheats (basically mini stuffed shredded wheat things) or cheerios... Generally cereal every day, occasionally porridge but likes to eat with fingers so that's trickier and i can't unload dishwasher etc while she gets on. Mine doesn't drink milk so.always dead keen to get some down her. Occasionally teacakes/ honey or jam on toast. I do badly with varied diet for her though (not for lack of offering)

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 08/02/2012 08:40

I don't have any DC so I'm afraid I can't help Biscuits with her poll, do you mind if I also do a bit of a thread hijack though please?

DH has a cold this morning and I can't believe how worried I am about catching it! I spent one day with his family who all had colds on Boxing Day, and I spent the next three weeks REALLY ill. I threw up every night because of the severity of my coughing when I tried to lie down. Apologies for tmi but at the worst point I also couldn't control my bladder when coughing So I had no sleep, I couldn't breathe, I couldn't lie down, I had a constant headache and sensitivity to light. It all just lasted SO LONG. Now that DH is coughing and spluttering I'm just petrified of going back to all those symptoms! He's generally really healthy (he eats MUCH healthier food than me and is an exercise fiend) so I'm worried that any virus that has managed to take him down will make short work of my suppressed immune system! Especially with me trapped in the house with his germs all day!

I know it's a stupid minor common cold, but I would really appreciate any No Brooking that can be spared...

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 08/02/2012 08:45

Apologies for the super-selfish post! I'm sorry I wasn't thinking straight just panicking

I hope everyone else is feeling okay this morning? I hope the various DC have had a good night's sleep? Especially Dream's DD and little Farley. Is anyone doing anything exciting today? (Other than baby-growing of course Wink)

DreamingOfPeace · 08/02/2012 08:47

We'll no Brook for you scream! You may never catch it- my dh had a stinker a while ago, and his immune system is usually really good as its tested by meeting ill and infectious people on a daily basis but I didnt get it... we do both have a cold now though I shall say you WON'T get it!!!

pommedenoel · 08/02/2012 08:49

Dream - That's a lovely bump! That seems very neat for twins (although no denying it's big!). Your pjs are much better than my maternity efforts!!

Biscuits - Always apple juice and a yoghurt. Then cheerios or other cereal (rice krispies, curiously cinnamon). Going through bad patch with cereal but nutrigrain bars/raisin bakes are popular as a substitute (not great I know). Another milk hater here. We do croissants and jam at the weekend sometimes as a treat.

No brooking scream for you here. I'm on another cold here at 36 weeks and it is no way as bad as the one I had at about 18-20 weeks which went on for 2-3 weeks and left me low. Might just be the virus but could also be being a bit further on so you might be okay?

DreamingOfPeace · 08/02/2012 08:49

Dd is still asleep- what's going on?! She didn't eat anything yesterday though, including biscuits (most unusual) plus had. V long nap, fingers crossed this doesn't mean another bug...

Biscuitsandtea · 08/02/2012 08:51

Oh Scream I'm brooking super hard that no germs find their way to you! You poor thing.

I guess it would be a bit mean to send DH outside all day in this weather.......

Hope he knocks it on the head soon though and you escape germ free.

Nothing exciting going on here - dentist trip for me and DS, nip in to see MIL who lives near the dentist, then some hardcore baby growing this afternoon while DS is at pre school (ie maybe a bit of a rest and tv!)

Biscuitsandtea · 08/02/2012 09:02

Breakfast wise my reason for asking was jus because DS had sort of switched to Cheerios every day since Christmas. He used to either have bran flakes or shreddies mainly, with apple juice. But then we had Cheerios at Christmas which he loves so he's been having those every day, which I figure aren't as 'healthy' as bran flakes but aren't that bad are they? So I figured he'd be ok with them every day (it certainly makes him eat up quicker Smile)

But just got me wondering what others had.

And he loves milk - he's actually stopped having apple juice and now has a glass of milk with his cereal!

PopcornMouse · 08/02/2012 09:34

Gosh scream that sounds like it was a pretty awful cold Shock Brooking that you escape this one!
I'm also with you as far as the tea and toast goes ? I can't stand white toast, it's like cardboard; I'll be sending DH out for a Big Mac :o

They're still ?wholegrain? biscuits so I'd only worry if you think he's having too much sugar, I suppose?

My digestive system is going haywire this morning Confused

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 08/02/2012 09:40

Biscuits cereal here, fruit n fibre usually AND toast AND banana/apple. Dd is a big eater in the morning, my worry is that it is a bit carb/fibre heavy! I try to do protein at lunch but quite often involves bread again as egg on toast, soup and bread are firm favourites as is baked beans but I can't stomach these myself at the moment... Also, eating cheese and ham toasties a lot at the minute, basically the quicker and easier the better at the moment!
I used to cook pasta and keep it for the next day or cook extra of the evening meal for lunch too. I feel a bit bad as I used to be such a stickler for healthy food, but being unable to cook for so long has really put me off! She is also allowed fruit at any time and will ask for a pear.etc and loves to snack on sweetcorn/peas which I just bung in the microwave as I keep these frozen. Blush
The only thing with most cereals is the sugar content, but again I don't let have sweets or cakes very often so can be a bit of a stickler as she gets plenty of sugar in her fruit and the hot choc I make usually once a day. (One spoonful of powder being a tightwad!)

I would love it if you could find out where your friend got the dresses, I am close family (I think? Sil wedding) so need to look really smart as tis a posh do int 'otel like. I am quite nervous about it as I still felt like I ahd been run over due to sleep deprivation by this point with Dd! Also, can't believe the
££s it is costing to go!

Dream I hope you have your feet up if she is still asleep? Nice bump I have been thinking about doing a pic but I keep being put off as I keep wearing pjs most of the time now as they are comfiest thing. I feel quite slovenly but I am too fat and tired now and usually only see the postman in the day if I don't have plans and don't care if he sees me. lol

Scream I keep catching every disease going and I keep having flare ups of my stomach bug if I eat something ever so slightly spicy or different. I am so fed up of being ill all the time in one way or another! I am waiting for the results of another urinalysis (first one was damaged in transit) as I had protein, blood and leukocytes but more of them again. I just hope once I have had the baby my immune system will pick up a bit! I have however, not caught a cold that DH and Dsis had which was amazing! So I will brook you won't catch it :)

In other news I have started the raspberry leaf tea as of yesterday and I can't quite believe I will be 36 weeks on Friday!

NinjaChipmunk · 08/02/2012 09:57

morning! musical I forgot to say yesterday congratulations on having the offer accepted. Briliant news, I hope it al goes smoothly and quickly for you.

I didn't get any tea or toast after having ds. I shall be storing snacks about my hospital bag this time. I do recall having to make my way (complete with ds in his fishtank) to find some dinner which was vile and apparently once related to mince and potatoes. I think I shall request some pasta salad or something to be brought in by whoever sees me first!

dream lovely bump you have there (and my pyjamas are hideous and about 6 years old)

biscuits ds still has a bottle of milk in the morning (although that is the only time, but he won't drink milk out of a cup strange boy) so he has that and then toast/ bagel/ crumpets type thing or sometimes some cereal. He is never that hungry first thing though.

Right I'm at work today, we have a new computer system and I can't log into our bank account and its completely thrown me. Better have a brew and a biscuit!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 08/02/2012 10:52

I have been planning for DH to bring me nice food - in fact, we might take some nice sandwiches in with us. I'll be on nil by mouth until after the CS, so I will be starving and I want proper food. The hospital sandwich I had last time was completely vile - thin cheap dry brown bread, a tiny bit of marge and a slice of processed chicken. No lettuce, no mayo, no tomato...it was the most horrible sandwich I've ever eaten. Mum brought me two giant carrier bags of fruit and I ate that, and I sent DH to the hospital WH Smith for a decent sandwich on the second day when we were waiting to be discharged.

Wants, it freaks me out so much when Bean stops moving! I had a complete meltdown on Sunday and cried all over DH because I thought she wasn't moving, and then she started kicking. DH laughed at me because he said I went boo hoo hoo, she's not moving enough, she isn't, she isn't - oh, hello Bean. Blush

Dream, I love the bump pics! I got DH to take one of me but it made me look fat, not pg, because he was sitting on the floor and I was standing, so I have suppressed it. Yay for DD sleeping!

Scream, I find catching colds is completely random. I had a bad cold over Christmas and DH didn't catch it, and last pregnancy DH had a series of colds and I didn't catch any of them. So FX and Brooking No Argument that you won't get this one!

NinjaChipmunk · 08/02/2012 11:18

Since I've had my flu jab, I haven't had any colds at all and ds and dp seem to have had loads.
I am officially 20 weeks today! Grin

DreamingOfPeace · 08/02/2012 12:50

Mountain of a bump I have!!

purple, go for it. I've started the trend for tatty pj's so just go for it! I'm also going to a wedding, a good friends, which is strictly no children. (Twins have been permitted but not dd, luckily its in the town my parents live so ok babysitter wise) on 2nd June, so about 8 weeks post birth for me. I will join you on the dress hunt, surely between us we can find something?!

too, in a rush but don't worry, we all flap about movement and you have reason to worry. Hmm, I don't mean good reason like high risk, just past experience. My dh is as blase as yours though...

PopcornMouse · 08/02/2012 13:13
