I am preparing by alternating days of mad nesting (there's very little that can't be put in a lidded plastic box with a nicely typed and laminated label) with days of sitting on my arse subjecting DD to Homes under the Hammer and Bargain Hunt, eating cake.

That's about it. Having DD made me realise there was little point in my doing anything else Smile

spannermary · 17/02/2012 22:49

I'm not sure how much use any of it will be - but I know that 7 weeks of arse all will drive me round the bend!

And having lost weight at the beginning due to hideous HG I am now piling it on and feel like a heifer. I'm definitely exceeding the 200 extra calories a day...and they shouldn't all be pizza and fry up shaped!

Still, this week of gluttony will soon be over, and then I can be much more sensible.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 17/02/2012 23:24

My planning is very like Fliss'...
Days of literally not stopping from when I wake up, interspersed with days of MNing while DS watches Peppa Pig and climbs my furniture Grin

Yesterday I managed to get my underbed drawers put together, just need to put the wheels on them now. Also cleaned in my sofa, but it ideally needs washing asap too, but need okay weather to dry the covers.
Today I slept in til 11, then sat on my fat arse all day while DH looked after me and DS. I luffs him sometimes Grin

VintageNancy · 18/02/2012 01:11

I'm the same - some days of loads of activity & others where I spend half the day in bed!
I met a fellow Californian April-er today for coffee. She's due April 6th and having a boy. It's really exciting to meet someone in person who is due the same time.

JambalayaCodfishPie · 18/02/2012 09:27

Im still keeping busy, dont think i've hit that tiredness wall yet! :) It seems to help that my bump is pretty small still, and my DD is 7 - so more than capable of sorting herself out/keeping herself occupied.

Had a bit of a freak out last night though - my friends baby, due at the same time as mine, was born this week - both are fine, baby is just small, and they will be ok.

Made me realise that this baby could, theoretically come at anytime now! While practically, we're more than ready, emotionally I just dont feel like its 'time', at all! Scary stuff!

spannermary · 18/02/2012 10:13

I know what you mean, Jambalaya - my friend's brother's baby was due the day before mine, and was born at 29 weeks! He's fine, though...but I couldn't believe he'd arrived in January.

I've told my little man to wait till the clocks change, and then he can come and play. ;)

It is good to know that they'll probably be ok if we do have to deliver early, though. (Trying to reassure myself here - can you tell!)

Tinwe · 18/02/2012 18:11

Hi all! Good news you're still hanging on Tia and about the GTT Fliss.
Anyone else suddenly really massively pregnant? I've been big for ages but I'm getting a bit miffed with everyone sagely informing me that NO WAY will I last til mid April... my bump has dropped... I've suddenly grown massive etc. Add to that sudden onset of painful braxton hicks, weird hip feelings, stiffness so I can't straighten up when I've been sat any length of time, out of breath, worse waddling than ever and urge to pee at the drop of a hat and I feel about 39 weeks, not 32. Told my midwife I was worried I might be gearing up for labour and would she like to see me early as it's been ages since I saw her (as this is my second and so I see her less often), plus baby was breach last check. She said no point :(

Uglymush · 18/02/2012 18:20

Thanks fliss I have my midwife appointment on Wednesday, so might see if there is anything that can be done about an early induction - but don't hold out much hope.

Uglymush · 18/02/2012 18:26

Thanks bear. How long can I blame hormones for? I would constently like to tell them to shut up. I don't judge their parenting so why should they judge ours and our plans?!??!?!!?

Bunsouttheoven · 18/02/2012 18:54

I feel massive too tin, not helped by 5 people today gasping at 'I've still got 8 weeks to go'

Can't get my head round having another either. Not sure if it's because we haven't really had to get anything new.

Yesterday I bought some pjs, a cardigan & snuggle wrap thing just to try & help me realise there will be another baby. Maybe I should get out the baby clothes from storage & start washing.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 18/02/2012 18:57

I've washed my baby clothes, that didnt really help either Buns!

spannermary · 18/02/2012 19:13

Ugh - hips! Mine were fine till I walked around Stratford, Southwark and Greenwich yesterday.

Now my left one is really sore! Do I have to sleep on it tonight?!

Flisspaps · 18/02/2012 19:30

spannermary No, you don't have to sleep on your left. I cannot sleep on my left and so have been sleeping on my right all the way through.

tinwe I look massively pregnant if that helps, although that is down to Megabump. It's very low as well, hasn't come up as far as my ribs at all this time round, so if and when it does 'drop' then it will be dragging around my knees. Absolutely agree with the stiffness, if I get into bed and then get up shortly after for the first pointless wee of the night I find I have suddenly lost the ability to stand up and have to sort of hobble to the bathroom hunched over. Most attractive Hmm

I will be most pleased if this one decides to put in an appearance at 37w which is the day after DD's birthday, rather than hanging on in comfort until 42w like it's big sister did.

Spent a lovely afternoon in IKEA today, bought some furniture for DC2s room having got rid of most of the junk we'd stored in there. It's being delivered tomorrow fortunately, which means that I can scratch the must-unpack-the-baby-clothes-from-the-storage-bags-NOW itch that has been raging for the last week.

spannermary · 18/02/2012 20:56

Good to know, Flisspaps. Thanks!

Lorrainbow · 18/02/2012 20:58

Back to work on Monday for the final half term - 6 weeks then due 4 weeks later... aaages away. I added a countdown app to my phone, bad idea - 70 days to go!!

I am not an emotional person and besides a teary moment in Tesco's at the start of the pregnancy I've been quite normal! However I got really upset at my hubby's brother's girlfriend at the weekend. I don't get along well with her and was trying to be polite chatting about nursery places and such. She suddenly perked up and said maybe a baby on the waiting list for one of our nurseries died or miscarried. I try so hard to be nice to this horrible horrible woman but I just told her that was a horrendous thing to say (which she laughed off) and dropped my (teary) eyes to the floor.

I had a big rant about it to my husband in the car on the way home (and to you lot now). Gah!! I don't think it's unreasonable or too "emotional" to hate this woman and never let her near my child!!

Rant over

L

JambalayaCodfishPie · 18/02/2012 21:07

Ew, Lorrainbow - what a heartless woman, i'd be fuming too!

HollyPockett · 19/02/2012 08:00

I too am feeling very pregnant now. I wee constantly, wake up every two hours and if i eat rice, the bump become very hard and uncomfortable. It's a bloody bummer because I love rice :(

We've taken week after next off to convert spare room into the nursery. We have the loft being reinsulated that week too. I like to get it all done at once, however I do tend to forge that I'm pregnant sometimes so I could have bitten off more than I can chew!! The room needs stripping, relining, painting, new carpet.. The lot!! Plus the DH is a bit of a horder so there's a ton of crap in there that he has to sort out.... It is not going to go smoothly!!

Am off to Paris tmrw for a couple of days with work, which is either going to be great, or send me over the edge!!

Flisspaps · 19/02/2012 09:26

lorrainbow what an awful thing for her to say Shock

spannermary · 19/02/2012 11:22

Wow - Holly - you've got a packed schedule, haven't you! All the best for it!

...and at least they don't eat a lot of rice in France.

I'd be gutted if I reacted to it - I could eat it every day. Mmmm....

We are also supposed to be sorting out the nursery (including putting up a stud wall) but I think we've decided to wait till the little one is a few months old, and getting someone to sort it while we go away for a few days. Much calmer than trying to fit it all in pre-birth when we won't actually use it for the first few months.

Wish it was done, in a way, though... :)

All the best for the work trip!

HollyPockett · 19/02/2012 19:07

The good thing with going for work is that we go in business classs on the eurostar at least it's comfy and they -feed you non stop- provide nice food :). Some days I'm absolutely full of energy, others shattered by 6pm!

So sad about giving up rice, but the stretched to bursting tummy afterwards is just not worth it.

Hope you've all had a great weekend.

newmummyvicky · 19/02/2012 21:58

Glad your feeling better riamary hopefully your baby will hold on for a fews weeks longer! I read somewhere that the should be weight 5lb at 34 wks. Which isnt a bad weight for a prem baby. What weight was your other little one?

Ugly so sorry to hear about for DH might not being there for the birth, have you looked into early induction? How long will he be away for?

I know how u all feel about people wanting seeing the baby! My parents keep mentioning about coming to the hospital when im in labour. But I really just want hubby there, so i might tell him to call them after. Is that mean?
Im 35 weeks tomorrow and have midwife in morning. x

balkanscot · 19/02/2012 22:04

May I dip my toes (assuming I still have them as I can barely see them for the bump is in the way) in here?

Will be turning 32 weeks on Tuesday, due 17 April, it will be our first baby (a boy) at 39 years old (both of us). 4 weeks (16 March) until maternity leave, i.e., annual leave, then maternity leave from 16 April. Feeling absolutely bleurgh. Have had numerous colds, 1 chest infection and as of last night possibly a mild ear infection - had a terrible case of vertigo while lying in bed at 6am and have been feeling off balance without any energy for most of today. Lovely.

Baby-stuff wise - bought a pram/travel system only. Hospital bag: nada. Baby clothes: nada. Birth plan: zilch. I just don't have enough energy to concentrate on this stuff while I am still working full time. I keep thinking I'll eventually get round to preparing/buying stuff from 16 March onwards. We have no plans for nursery yet as baby will be with us in our bedroom, thereby keeping the spare bedroom as the guest room for the time being.

This third trimester malarkey seems to be pretty hard work. After a lovely second one it is hard to adjust at feeling crap again.

Have been reading fellow April-ites' stories here, nice to see there are other women feeling the same/similar. :)

Uglymush · 19/02/2012 22:09

Thanks vicky I have an appointment with my midwife on wednesday, so will ask about it all then.

I agree with the calling parents afterwards thing. If my DH can be at the birth then we will not be letting people know until it is all over. If he can't be there then only my mum will know as she will be my birth partner.

Hope all goes well at your MW appointment tomororw x

Uglymush · 19/02/2012 22:13

welcome balkanscot
I think the majority of us are starting to wish the end was nearer.

Good luck x
