P.s. Carlita - meant to ask, you doing anything nice to mark the beginning of your maternity leave?

Carlitawantsababy · 27/01/2012 08:01

Grin 8 weeks today!
No, no plans at all I'm afraid. Things have taken a sharp turn for the worse with me, I now have PGP at the front of my pelvis as well which has increased in intensity since Sunday. On Wednesday at aqua natal I had to have all of the exercises differentiated for me as the warm up of bicycling legs whilst holding on to the aide made me cry with pain after 2 secs Blush.
I'm now back to being in pain all the time except when I'm in the bath and only being able to walk around the flat. Feeling pretty sorry for myself as had been so happy thinking all this was behind me but at least I had a few week respite I suppose! Anyway, kind of puts a stop to doing anything nice to mark the maternity leave!
kiki I know what you mean, it's the not being able to get back to sleep which is the biggest issue..I never used to wake In the night either but yes, babies on bladders definitely have an effect!
Has anyone had to reduce their meal sizes and eat little and often due to stomachs having no room left? Books and friends have been suggesting/asking but I'm still eating normally and my sister did throughout her pregnancy (with twins!) Hmm

Oops, not kiki, knitterati! Blush sorry!

Really sorry to hear you're having so much trouble, Carlita- glad you don't have to be working, but I don't suppose that's much comfort. Things do seem to go in spurts through pregnancy, don't they, so maybe (hopefully) it's just a bad patch? It's good you got so much packing done early, and organised your baby stuff so efficiently early on.

I'm needing the loo again a lot more now, too (including at night)- the last few months that had been OK as the bump was a bit higher, but now the baby can stretch virtually from my ribs to bladder all at once! The wriggling feelings keep changing- they have been progressively stronger, but now it feels exactly like it's a baby in there, rather than general movements and kicks, if that makes sense? It's funny- I feel enormous, but most people still think I'm very small for my stage- If I go out with my duffel coat & big scarf nobody ever notices. I've noticed I have a lot less puff when out and about- I'm generally just a bit slower and have to be careful not to carry too much.

I'm still eating normal meals, rather than smaller portions throughout the day- and have noticed I've a slightly increased appetite. Am going to start the raspberry leaf tea this week- Carlita- did you say you've been taking it a while? I think I'll start off just a cup a day initially.

Carlitawantsababy · 27/01/2012 14:27

Thanks kiki, I know exactly what you mean about it now feeling like a baby in there! Smile yes, been taking raspberry leaf tea for about 5 weeks now, on 3 cups a day which I'll continue until the birth, also going to start taking evening primrose oil supplements from 36 weeks until birth (water birth book says they are 'helpful in ripening the cervix' Smile

Boo to PGP rearing it's ugly head again carlita I had a v bad day with it on Wednesday but it's been just about manageable these last few days. I'm not sure if it had anything to do with sitting on some v uncomfortable seats at NCT on Tuesday night or if it was just bad luck. Not nice however it came about anyway.

Re eating - yes I've noticed I can't eat too much at once these days. Especially pasta, which I normally love. At lunch, I have to really take my time with my sandwich and I can't eat a packet of crisps with it anymore as it's just too much. I'm carrying baby high - always have since I started showing - so not sure if that is anything to do with it.

I saw my MW today. First time she's asked if I've had any aches or pains or anything I'd like to share. Yep, 32 weeks down the line and first time she's been arsed to ask Angry Anyway, that aside, baby is doing well - uterus measures 32cm so exactly right for now, 28 week blood test results were all clear/negative for whatever they were testing and baby's heartbeat was good and strong. She said I could get a referral for physio for my pgp but I've said I feel I can manage right now so hopefully it won't get much worse in my remaining 8 weeks. She also said our hospitals don't offer show arounds anymore - apparently they stopped it when the swine flu virus broke out and have never re-introduced it. I'm not too bothered about it really as I'm going there regardless of what it looks like or whether I like it or not!! Wouldve been nice but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

KikiRC · 29/01/2012 20:59

Phew. Tax returns done and dusted at last. The baby was not impressed with the amount of tax paid- it has been kicking sympathetically ever since I submitted it!

Hope you all had a lovely weekend. I had a day trip to London yesterday and half a pint of Guinness! (My third unit of alcohol in seven and a half months.)

How are you feeling, Carlita? Better, I hope.

Carlitawantsababy · 30/01/2012 12:50

Hope you're still feeling better broody! Smile
kiki, pushing the boat out with half a pint of Guinness there! Grin I'm better in that I'm no longer in constant pain, doesn't hurt when I'm sitting or laying down anymore, just when I move/stand/walk/turn so trying to be grateful for that but actually feeling a bit fed up. We've had our TV and broadband cut off in prep for supposedly impeding move so it's a little dull. I have books to read and crochet and sewing to do, just need to motivate myself!
Hope everyone else is well? Smile

Happy Monday mummies to be!! Smile

I just went to aldi (my first time ever in an aldi!) as I'd heard they're doing a special on v shaped pillows - £6.99. Thought I'd take a look in case they were decent...and yes they are! They're slumberdown ones and they feel lovely. For £6.99 I reckon it's a bit of a bargain too!! Just thought I'd share...

knitterati · 30/01/2012 17:27

Oo! Good tip off broody I've heard good things about their nappies too!

Hope the boredom isn't too much for you Carlita

Carlitawantsababy · 30/01/2012 17:31

Grin thanks, back on the crochet, making a baby blanket and have my aqua natal class in an hour.

So...I've been left in charge of my 9 week old nieces whilst my sister goes to a hospital appointment...eek Confused

OP posts:
KikiRC · 31/01/2012 08:19

Oh, wow- good luck Carlita! But just think- when you have your own baby there will just be one of them and you won't be heavily pregnant, either! Hope you have a good time with them.

I've a MW appointment shortly- have had to drink litres this morning, because I keep going to the loo & forgetting to collect a sample...

knitterati · 31/01/2012 08:52

Kiki - know what you mean about samples for the midwife! I get told off when I go to the MW for not drinking enough water, so I always drink gallons the day before so she doesn't tell me to drink more bloody water! Grin

Carlita aww! Good (but scary) practice. Always think that looking after someone else's kids has to be scarier than looking after your own....at least I hope that's the case!!?

So is anyone else experiencing a leaky boob? It seems my right one leaks and my left one is very well behaved - is this normal?! Blush

Carlitawantsababy · 31/01/2012 08:54

Indeed kiki! So far, so good, they're both settled! Smile I'm useless at samples, I get a sort of 'stage fright' and manage a tiny piddle which is ridiculous considering I need to pee pretty much all the time ! I have to drink a big bottle en route...good luck! Grin

OP posts:
Carlitawantsababy · 31/01/2012 08:56

X posts knitterati! No leaky boobs here yet but have heard it is totally normal! Smile two sleepy settled babies at the moment, long may it continue! Grin

OP posts:
KikiRC · 31/01/2012 11:14

I've had some colostrum, Knitterati- the heat of the bath often seems to bring it on. It's very yellow! Not so much actual leaking as yet, though I have the odd bit. Feels quite reassuring in a way that it's beginning to form as my mum had loads of trouble breastfeeding, so I've always been a bit anxious I might not manage it.

My friend swears that her breast-feeding boobs react to other people's babies (and did the same when she was pregnant) or rather, the way she put it- they made her nipples twitch & leak! I haven't noticed that, myself..

Managed to both wee in a pot and remember to take it with me! All fine with the MW, baby measuring dead on 32cm, I'm not going back until 36 weeks unless any problems.

Hope those babies are still sleeping soundly! X

Exciting! Glad you have heard something at last. Sounds as if you've had a lovely day with the babies too.

I have my next m/w appointment on Thursday - where I will see if I am still measuring too small and if she wants to send me for a scan . . .

Carlitawantsababy · 31/01/2012 19:14

Oh, FX word, hope all goes well. How're you finding the hypnobirthing CD?
