Ha ha- I fell fast asleep after episode 1 of The Killing last night- not quite the same thing!

Good luck with the MW, Word- I really don't think measuring with a tape is in any way accurate- my measurement was exactly the same yesterday as a couple of weeks ago, but the baby was in a completely different position, and it was done by a different person.. Still, it would be nice in a way to have a scan now, with the baby so much bigger. I'm sure you're both doing fine.

Good news re: the move, Carlita! FX that all goes smoothly. X

Carlitawantsababy · 01/02/2012 08:47

Excellent word! I need to step up the practise now and do it every day.

Grin guess what everyone? We're having babies next month! Grin

Hi all - just a quick one, been reading but not had time to post lately! 5 weeks today to go - argh!!!

Has anone finished the nursery yet? (we're actually all moving into our 'nursery' as none of the otehr rooms in the house are ready - big do up project!). We put the cot and chest of drawers together last week - nearly killed us, Mamas and Papas flat pack is HARD WORK! Lol ;)

Just wondering - how long the excitement of washing newborn stuff will last? Just put a load of bibs / reusable nappies in and I'm stupidly excited at the thought of them on the radiators looking all white and fluffy - am betting that doesn't last ;)

KikiRC · 01/02/2012 09:10

I've been washing small things, too- Northern- was lovely this morning to see tiny sleepsuits hanging up in a haze of sunshine. I guess it's less exciting when the washing machine never stops and they're sicky and worse!

God, no signs of a nursery here. I've been trying to get DP to turn the bed around so there's some hope of fitting in the moses basket (which is more like a big wicker dog basket, really!) and buying a small chest of drawers for the baby clothes... Baby will be in with me for at least 6 months, it'll take me that long to turf everything out of the study & rehouse its contents- that is where the nursery will be, eventually...

Carlitawantsababy · 01/02/2012 12:23

Smile washing small things is nice! Think it'll be exciting until they're born then stop being so, abruptly! Loved washing and hanging out all the nappies, don't think I'll be saying that again! I've had lots of practice with them now as Dsis' twins wear them.. Been good but have taken a bit of practice to prevent leaks which I was a bit worried about at first but then saw from a few threads on here that disposables leak too... Am well prepared now to get through 3-4 baby grows, 8-10 nappies/inners and 3-4 wraps/outers per day. Washing will lose appeal very soon! Smile

Just felt a very distinct arm or leg through my tummy! Amazing how sometimes I suddenly realise there's a baby in there!!

Carlitawantsababy · 02/02/2012 13:14

I keep getting flashes kiki of almost surprise of wow, we're actually going to have a baby living with us at some point next month.. Smile

KikiRC · 02/02/2012 14:54

Amazing how soon it feels now, isn't it? I've been trying to explain to my cat- she's going to get a big shock!

Carlitawantsababy · 02/02/2012 15:39

Haha, yes, mine was a bit scared by the twins the other day, she made a sound like a baby crying herself! Soon got over it though! Grin

Oh I'm feeling v peculiar today. Just don't feel at all right. Bit sicky, bit weak, tummy a little unsettled, v tired... I've even missed yoga tonight so can't be right Sad

Hoping it's not the possible on-set on premature labour :o I still don't know if my placenta has moved (was low lying at 20week scan) so going into labour now would be potentially dangerous. Eeeeek!

BeeWi · 02/02/2012 19:26

Broody - hope you're okay. Would it be worth ringing your midwife for some reassurance? Last week I had a similar experience- upset tummy, exhausted, sicky. Think I'd been over doing (actually, know I'd been overdoing it- lots of lifting, shifting, decorating...had a bit of a mad nesting urge which is still going on, to be honest). Anyways, my midwife who I'd been due to see anyway said to slow it down now. Basically your body telling you to take it a bit more easy.
Will you get another scan to see if your placenta has moved a bit?

We had a scan yesterday to check if baby was massive or not because the measuring tape was saying it was 4 weeks over. Estimated baby was 6lb 6oz at the moment, so looking like it may be an 8 and a half pounder on EDD. I'd settle for that; having had visions of it being a 10lb+, it was somewhat of a relief.

Also had the hospital tour with our antenatal group last night. Shit, it is lovely! Was blown away- lovely birthing rooms that back onto an outdoor roof garden, so if you want to go and pace around outside, you can. Ensuites with big, deep corner baths in each room with movable showers above them. Birthing pool. Really well designed beds that you can adjust so they're really high so you can lean on them while standing, foot braces for if you want to hang off them and crouch, mats for if you want to be on the floor, birthing balls so I don't need to haul mine in. They provide cloth nappies for you if you want them. Then the post natal ward bit if private rooms with an ensuite shared between two adjoining rooms, quite spacious etc. Just lovely. The hospital midwife was really nice too, which is promising. Feeling good about where I'm going now etc. Feel all smiley today Smile. 34 days to EDD.

Carlitawantsababy · 02/02/2012 20:07

broody hope you're okay, can you take it easy for a few days?
bee that sounds amazing! Grin lucky you!
I ordered my pool, should arrive tomorrow, very exciting! Grin

Hope you're feeling better today, Broody & that it's not early labour. There seem to be a lot of bugs about. Hopefully it's something like that. I'd call your MW if you feel the same today, though.

I'm coldy & slow. Have anyone else's Braxton Hicks increased? I'm getting them all the time- can't tell if they're just more obvious because the bump is bigger now?

I don't think we get a hospital tour, Bee. I've seen some of the maternity wards, but not the labour suits. I don't think they're so plush as yours, though! There's only one birthing pool, too- so although a water birth would be nice, I certainly can't bank on it. That's good news about your pool, Carlita!

broodylicious · 03/02/2012 14:06

Hi folks. Thank you for your messages; I'm feeling a little better today. I think it was over exhaustion coupled with me stressing about work...but it was a horrible feeling and I was concerned.

Braxton Hicks are coming often and baby is incredibly active this last few weeks - or like you say, it could be that bump is bigger and he/she doesn't have much room to move these days.

Nct was great again this week. We learnt about different labour positions, what we need to take to the hospital (or thoughts about what we might like to take) and then the men put together a list of how they're going to behave during labour (ie how to be supportive) while us ladies talked about and practiced pelvic floor muscles. Next week, we're doing massage techniques and talking about pain relief/option, so should be another great session. We don't get a tour of the hospital though because they stopped doing them when the swine flu epidemic started.

knitterati · 03/02/2012 17:29

Glad you're feeling better broody

Had a midwife appt yesterday and baby is 2/5ths engaged! Wooo! Though, I'm trying not to get too excited as I know they can 'disengage' right up to birth. I'm just hoping this LO is eager to get going!! Grin

Carlitawantsababy · 04/02/2012 08:19

Glad you're feeling better broody! Glad you are enjoying your classes too.
kiki I don't think I've had an increase in Braxton hicks but will look out for them more now, I still miss them a lot a think, putting the sensation down to movement when I'm busy with something else.
knitterati that's great news! My midwife didn't give me a fraction last time, just said baby's head was 'right in there' it's good to know though. Almost unheard of for them to flip at this stage and become breech so relieved about that! Smile
I've been doing some sewing for the baby's room, it's the best attempt I can make at 'nesting' considering we haven't yet moved! I have made a kind of runner for the chest of drawers which is going in his room with big pockets hanging down on either side, his changing mat will sit on top of the fabric and I'll fill the hanging pockets with cotton wool, nappy liners, cream etc. Just needs finishing off today, I have POOP DECK letters to iron on to it (it's going to be a piratey room)

Finally got the bed moved 'round, so I can paint all the bits I've missed and get it a bit sorted in here! It seems to have taken months.. but the end is in sight... Sort of.

Re: BH- I'm the same, Carlita- I don't always notice them, because I'm so used to them now- but the other day when I was feeling a bit off-colour I way laying down watching a film & started making a note, and they were roughly every 10 minutes which freaked me out a bit. They went down again and come and go, and I'm sure I usually get more than 4 an hour, but if I called the MW/ hospital every time, then I'd spend my whole life on the phone... they don't hurt or anything. I half think I should get them checked out, but otherwise I feel completely fine, and I can't quite face a session up at the hospital in this freezing weather- I'm sure they'd just send me away again and say it's OK... I don't have a MW appointment for nearly 4 weeks, otherwise I'd check then..

broodylicious · 04/02/2012 14:28

Kiki - BH aren't supposed to be regular, they should be totally sporadic and irregular. As they're not painful though, I'm sure it's nothing to worry about.

Anyone got any snow yet? We are due to get it quite badly about 3pm so anytime now!! So pleased I've nowhere to go as I can just watch it from my lovely warm sofa Smile

knitterati · 04/02/2012 15:14

No snow in Bucks yet broody Sad

Carlita love the pirate theme and the poop deck!! Grin I like the idea of a runner with pockets in for changes...can you buy them or are they a Carlita special design? I wish I could sew. Knitting is the only hint of craftiness I have!!

I've discovered that my naughty cat has been sleeping in the bugaboo carrycot when left to her own devices! Cheeky monkey. She'll have the shock of her life when LO arrives and is in it!! Grin

Carlitawantsababy · 04/02/2012 16:06

No snow in London yet!
knitterati bloody cats! We're having to store the car seat upside down on the bouncer for the same reason! Grin
I have no idea if you can buy a runner with pockets, I just made it up...could you knit one?!Grin

Hi All - just a quick one to let you know I'm out of the March club - our little man made a surprise arrival on 1.2.12 by EMCS after a scary scan! He's 3lb 12 and a half ounces of absolute perfection. He's in SCBU but only in low dependency and we can't wait to get him home.

Just wanted to wish you all luck - it's true what they say about the instant rush of love - enjoy your babies ladies! xx

Carlitawantsababy · 05/02/2012 07:21

Grin wow! Congratulations northern! Grin fabulous news! Grin so glad the little man is doing so well. A friend of mine had her baby at 32 weeks in December and she is absolutely perfect! They're home now of course and as happy as can be! Enjoy him, it sounds like you'll not have any problems there! Grin

OP posts:
Carlitawantsababy · 05/02/2012 07:25

And you were 35 weeks so technically only 2 weeks early considering full term is from 37? That's great, he'll be home before you know it. Please keep us posted! Thanks for you and Bear for baby!

Congrats Northern really lovely news to hear about the safe arrival of your little one! Congratulations!

Gosh, it's starting to become real! I think your the first of the MN March antenatal threads to have their baby, so not long left for the rest of us!

Hope baby Northern comes out of SCBU and is with you at home soon.

Carlitawantsababy · 05/02/2012 08:11

kiki I'm in Hastings for a short break staying with my mum, we (sis and twins are here too) planned to come today but luckily changed plans at last minute and came yesterday. What a lot of snow! Shock looks amazing! Also, was going to say to you, I contacted and registered with East Hastings Children's Centre and have put baby's name down for 'aqua babes' 6 week swimming course starting in June. It's free! I'm most pleased, they're about £45 in London! Grin
