Shiny new thread!

Kiki - I had the cervix kicking last week! It is defo more uncomfortable than normal kicking. I thought baby was going to be coming out any minute, it was that strong! I'm pleased someone else has had this experience - felt a bit of a wally when I typed it last week!

jezz - totally with you on the fascination with tummy gazing! I swear these last few weeks, my productivity at work and concentration on tv at home has gone all to pot just because of watching bump move and squirm around in there!! Also, v sadly, baby is also shy so DH misses it every time. Colleagues at work have seen it tho - think it freaks them out quite a lot!

Carlitawantsababy · 23/01/2012 18:35

Haha kiki, yes, I had a lopsided bump for the first time this week when he was completely over one side. I haven't had any painful lung, rib or cervix [wince] kicks yet! No, no word on health visitor though presumably may book one in once I move seeing as I'll be under the same hospital as you! Smile
Sorry work is so busy and you're emotional word! Hope you enjoy the CD!
jezzabell I can feel hard body parts under the skin too, sometimes his whole spine when he's laying at the side!
Baby stops moving when DH talks to him but not when he touches him or looks anymore which is nice! Smile

Hi, only just found this thread - can I join your gang? EDD 5th March x

Carlitawantsababy · 23/01/2012 21:28

Welcome pony! How are things going for you? Are you a physio who likes ponies or a physio for ponies? Smile

OP posts:
Ponyphysio · 23/01/2012 21:39

Well, I guess I'm both - I am qualified to treat humans and animals, and I also have ponies as a hobby! Pregnancy has so far been PDG, heartburn was an issue over Christmas - sleeping propped up is the only answer for me that I found. Lots of wriggling and tummy watching/poking going on in our house at the moment! Thanks for the welcome, and I look forward to getting to know you all :)

dublindee · 23/01/2012 23:32

hello pony

Dont know about you guys but I'm really tired tonight. Was back in the "pit of hell" today sorting out clothes etc. and did a purge of all the broken toys in the tellyroom as well. Think will have tomorrow off as with kids swimming lessons and my welsh class tomorrow night - I dont want to be burned out!!

Sweet dreams everyone xx

Carlitawantsababy · 24/01/2012 00:02

Ah, interesting pony Smile
dee well done on the pit progress, we've been sorting paperwork as part of packing and it's a hellish job, not dissimilar to yours in the pit, still, will be a great feeling when it's all done, that's what we're trying to focus on! Smile

Hi pony - nice to see another equine fan on here Smile Are you still working/riding now? I have a 16.1hh TB ex-racer who I have sent out on full loan for two years while I have the baby - missing him loads Sad although I've heard from his temp mummy that he's being q naughty as he's broken her fingers, severly ripped her tendons in her wrist and basically doesn't want to do much she asks of him! So unlike him. He has the "back lady" coming out to see him soon to see if his sudden naughtiness is anything to do with a tightness in his back.
Sorry folks, gone temporarily off babies then! Blush

Ponyphysio · 24/01/2012 11:05

Well I still have my ex-lightweight show cob/now a fat hairy thing, cos he's my special soldier, but not ridden since 16 wks. Two people have tried sharing him - he dumped one, and the other girl said he was too much for her because he tried to eat grass while hacking out! WTF?? He's been a great boy in the 17 years I've had him, and I checked his back - its fine, his teeth are grand, so I have come to the conclusion that people just don't understand that horses are not machines, so no-one riding him til I get back on board. Still mucking out etc, though DH lifts bales of shavings etc for me. Have a nice day everyone. I'm "working" from home today :)

Jezzabell · 24/01/2012 16:52

Hello pony nice to have you here.

Hope you all ok. I went to the docs today to have a check up as not seen a doctor, only midwife for my whole pregnancy and to make sure he's ok with me going for a home birth. All is good, baby is staying head down with her back to the left, and he said her head was really low and put 1/5 engaged on my notes. That's pretty much all in the pelvis isn't it? I thought my bump looked different over the past 2 days and things feel a bit heavier lower down. I'm 34 weeks. He said that her being that low could bring things on sooner. i hope not too soon as still got 2.5 weeks at work and don't get the pool for a couple more weeks either. But hey, I suppose she will come when she's ready whether that's before or after I am expecting her! Just hope its not too early and I have to go to hospital.

Managed to skive the rest of the afternoon off work with a little white lie to my boss (well I've been really good and hardly had any time off work!) so just been doing some yoga then listening to the calm birth (hypnobirthing) CDs my sis used and sent over from Oz. Managed to miss the end of the first one as so relaxed and ended up listening to 2 sessions. Feel really good for it though.

Have a nice evening all.

Ponyphysio · 24/01/2012 20:04

Do you think its too late for me to start listening to the Hypnobirthing CDs? Someone gave them to me ages ago, I forgot I had them actually until I had a clear out today. Would appreciate any advice/previous experience people have, one friend thought they were great, but my sister snorted and told me to take whatever drugs are on offer!

Carlitawantsababy · 24/01/2012 22:44

jezzabell, I thought that just meant that baby's head is 1/5 engaged so still has 4/5 to go? Hope it's not early for you! My baby's head is 'right in my pelvis' according to midwife today (which is causing some pain in my pubic bone area) but I'm only 31+4. Maybe not the same thing though?
pony defo not too late, start listening now, you still have plenty of time to practice!
Good news from midwife appointment, irons levels are great and all is looking good! Bump (out of interest) was 31cm but she was saying how they measure differently according to baby's position at this stage (back to back at the time). Smile

The fact we will have an extra usable room once the pit is cleared is what's keeping me going Carlita! And as for paperwork and filing - send it this way and I'll swap ya! I LOVE sorting paperwork and setting up filing systems! Blush at my little OCD geekiness re this!

Got a teeny bit more done today but as was busy with: getting hubby to doc and dropping off his cert at work, food shopping, kids swimming lessons, welsh class etc I haven't done anymore today. Hubby has a few tests in Salford next week so we are doing a quick reccy over there tomorrow to figure out where it is and how long the journey is etc. (he's been off work since mid October with a possible failed gall-bladder/bacterial infection in gut and has had 50million tests done - all inconclusive. These are last 2!) We are then stopping off at Ikea (oh joy of joys - NOT!) to buy some hangers and boxes for my wardrobe.

Hoping to do a bit more tomorrow as want it more or less liveable by the time my sis arrives on Saturday!

Anyway nos da everyone I'm off to bed now xxx

Moffit · 25/01/2012 03:46

Evening Ladies, or is it morning now? Sorry for the ungodly hour, but I'm on nights this week (I certainly wont miss these). Glad to hear you are all doing so well, and hello to all of the newbies!

For someone who asked further up the thread, I'm doing my Antenatal class at the hospital, and you also get a tour of the labour and delivery suites, plus the midwife led unit, where I plan to give birth. It could either be four 2 hour sessions, or you could do it all in one day (which is the option we chose) So we have that on the 4th Feb, I'm actually quite looking forward to it, as I'm hoping that it will answer some of my questions and put my mind at rest to see where it will happen and what its all like.

I am working up until 37 weeks........so another 5 weeks left at work for me. When is everyone else leaving work? Also is anyone having a Baby shower? My cousin asked if I was having one, and I have to say I hadn't even considered it as I'm not really a fan, (I don't want people to feel obliged to buy presents), but I do think it would be nice to get together with all of my girlfriends and have a night in. Smile

broodylicious · 25/01/2012 10:36

moffit feel the same re baby shower and the obligation of present buying if you all it that! But I defo want to get together with my girlfriends before baby is here so we're having lunch in one of my fave pubs a few weeks before. I've purposely avoided the words baby shower, but my sister is still calling it that. If people buy me something, brill, if they don't, I won't at all be offended.

We had our first NCT class last night. We loved it. The group we are in all seem v normal and we think we will be making good friends with at least three couples. As for what we covered - really good info and simple and easy to understand (although thru here and my reading, I didn't necessarily learn anything new - different for DH though who will do all his learning from NCT). Can't wait for next week now!!

Carlitawantsababy · 25/01/2012 11:30

Haha, yes, classes are much more for dads aren't they? I don't know how much DH knows really! Anyway, we decided against going to the NHS ones as I don't think they'll teach me much (have read soo o much) and tbh I don't want to hear all about the pain and the fear etc. I want to avoid all that and go with the education I'll get from the hypnobirthing course - the calm, desensationalised version! NCT would be great I'm sure, I know loads of people who recommend it but we had to make a choice of which to pay for! Smile
No plans for a baby shower here; I don't have a group of girl friends either (always mixed groups) so won't be doing an alternative but sounds nice for those of you that are - enjoy! Grin

OP posts:
broodylicious · 25/01/2012 19:42

Exactly right carlita - there's so many courses and options for education that you could end up totally skint through doing them all!

I think I'm getting quite clued up now through reading books, websites, listening to people (not the stupid scaremongers though!) and taking my yoga and our NCT classes. Almost feel ready for things to happen now!!

dublindee · 26/01/2012 04:22

Awh bless ya broody! Have to say time IS marching on though. 64 days left for me (but hopefully less!) I'm not gonna do any antenatal classes this time round as i would feel like a fraud sitting there when I'm on baby number 3 :) Restless night tonight as my "current" youngest (5yo) has a really nasty, hacky cough and keeps waking up - poor love :(

Wordweaver · 26/01/2012 10:47

Just a quick message to say a massive THANK YOU for the CD, Carlita! Really looking forward to using it!

Carlitawantsababy · 26/01/2012 14:27

Grin No worries at all word, I find I sleep much more soundly after using it too, sometimes right through the night (with no wee wakes Shock)

OP posts:
knitterati · 26/01/2012 16:54

Ooo! No wee wakes! I am intrigued! I currently keep waking for the loo at about 3.30/4am and not being able to get back off to sleep. Sad knackered today...

I never used to wake in the middle of the night needing a wee. My bladder must have lost the battle for space with baby and is approximately the size of a walnut!

8weeks tomorrow and counting!

Hello to the new folk too!

Carlitawantsababy · 26/01/2012 17:08

I'm now on maternity leave! Grin

BeeWi · 26/01/2012 21:52

Woohoo, nice one Carlita!

Knitterati- know what you mean about bladder & sleep issues.

Seems like during the last week I've got increasingly uncomfortable too- achey hips, knees, shoulders. Makes it nigh on impossible to get a good night's kip.

Going for another scan next week to see all is okay with massive baby. Hopefully they'll tell me it's just long rather than having a head like a basketball.

Been painting baby's room- foof- didn't realise how quickly I tired compared with earlier in pregnancy. Kind of shocked me. It's starting to look better though...going to take 3 coats of paint. Yawn!
