Just wanted to check everyone was well and cooking away nicely, havent had time to read over the thread yet but will over the weekend.

Jezzabell · 13/01/2012 13:42

Carlita I did find the Waterbirth Book really good and think i paid more than i normally would for a second hand book too, but i found it very useful. Hope you will too - if not sorry Blush!

Such a lovely day here too today. Looking forward to getting out for some lovely fresh countryside air over the weekend and some well needed sunshine. Fridays are good though as I finish work at 2pm to go to antenatal yoga, so only 20 mins left killing time here.

Find myself not doing much work these days and alot of internet! I did a sort of handover with my replacement the other day and realised that i don't really have much to do in the next few weeks.

Carlitawantsababy · 13/01/2012 14:07

Lovely Jezzabell, I don't have much to do either, great huh? The book looks great and had very good reviews so am looking forward to getting it.
Hi stogan I remember you, of course! We're all well here, look forward to hearing how it's been going with you!

I sympathise massively. When we moved here it was something like my 35th move. Just keep focusing on being in the new house. Have a glass of wine (if you are allowing yourself the odd one) or a non-alcoholic beer! xxx

KikiRC · 14/01/2012 19:01

How's it going, Carlita? I still seem to be cleaning up the plaster dust! X

Carlitawantsababy · 14/01/2012 19:58

We're in the pub and my glass of wine is on its way! Grin

PGP/SPD sufferers - pls help. I think I might be getting it too. I have a pain in my pubic area, a little below the top of my pubic hair. It doesn't hurt anywhere else in my groin or back or anything and it doesn't feel like pressure, like when the baby is having a bladder bouncing session, and it doesn't feel swollen to the touch. It hurts more when I shuffle into another position when sat down or have been in bed and am getting up. Does this sound like pgp/SPD? I've had this pain for the last two days and it's worrying me Sad Please help! Xx

Wordweaver · 14/01/2012 22:13

So sorry to hear you're in pain, Broody. Go and have a look on the Pevic Partnership website - that will talk you through the symptoms.

www.pelvicpartnership.org.uk/symptoms-of-pgp.html

Do you have any pain in your inner thighs or down your legs?

I am not sure if it sounds like PGP or not - mine was around the back so I don't have personal experience of pain in the area you describe. However, I would suggest that the best thing you can do is to go to your GP on Monday and be prepared to demand ask for an urgent physio appointment if they think it could be PGP. I think that the sooner you can get a diagnosis, the better chance you have of managing it.

In the meantime, do regular pelvic floor exercises and be careful how you move around, which it sounds as if you are.

Mine hurt when I moved into positions that put a strain on the area of the pelvis where I had stiffness. For example, getting out of the bath, leaning forwards to pick something up, getting in and out of bed.

Hope you get a good night's rest and feel better tomorrow.

Carlitawantsababy · 15/01/2012 00:30

broody, it does sound like it to me. My pain is in my back but when you are getting it sounds familiar. For now I would suggest pelvic floor too, bouncing and doing hip rotations on birthing/yoga ball if you have one, spending an hour each day in the bath and going up and down stairs on your bum if possible and otherwise one step at a time (like a child). I of course second seeing your GP for a physio referral as soon as possible. Try to avoid housework, sitting or standing for long periods and crossing your feet or legs. If you're really strict you will be able to manage it better, don't push yourself. Smile

Doesn't look like much will be happening around here today, DH had a rare visit from one of his oldest friends last night and they were up drinking until 7.30. Needless to say he hasn't stirred yet. Making the most of it though as just got up myself and I went to bed 12 hours ago! Grin kiki forgot to reply about the move, still no firm plans but we're guessing it'll be around the end of January. Still waiting on solicitors to get the final bits together and our freeholder is being a pain and not supplying the things asked of him so I've been contacting him every day (he hangs up on me, I send him a text message, he doesn't reply) Confused

Carlita, sorry I meant to say thank you for the exercises - I will try them next time I go.

The tension ramps up as you get closer to the completion date, doesn't it. There are so many tiny things to get in place. I remember feeling as if it was never going to happen!

FrankiDon182 · 15/01/2012 14:06

Hiya march mummies!
I am due on March 31st with my 2nd little bundle of joy. Loving pregnancy despite the bouts of tiredness!
How are you and bumps today? Happy relaxing sunday to you all!!

Carlitawantsababy · 15/01/2012 17:32

Exactly word!
Hi franki and welcome! Smile how old is your first? I'm loving it too, especially at the moment with feeling him move all the time! Grin

FrankiDon182 · 15/01/2012 18:27

Hiya carlita!
DS is 20 months, full of energy and conversation. A right little character!

I take it the majority of you are all expecting with your 1st? Things are alot calmer this pregnancy! Not nearly as neurotic with buying baby things, more relaxed with twinges/pains although weirdly convinced that my 1st labour was a fluke and therefore this time round i will experience the real thing lol !
Hope you are all resting your bumps - no such luck for me, iam being forced to play football! Very persistant child you see Grin

broodylicious · 15/01/2012 20:58

I'll sign up for a "fluke labour" any day of the week, thanks frankie Wink Grin I'm not actually worried about the birth itself - although I will be if I have to have a c section cos my placenta hasn't moved - but more about the few hours afterwards. Bleeding, first time feeding, bleeding, placenta delivery, bleeding, stitches, bleeding... Yikes.

Thanks for your help on the pgp front - I do feel more reassured that it sounds like how it is with you guys.

I'm going to go swimming a couple of times this week so I'll try some of those exercises someone mentioned earlier. I bought a maternity costume today so now I have no excuse! My yoga instructor said we shouldn't do much breast-stroke - has anyone else heard that? It's not a problem (I was swimming captain at school so do tend to front crawl or backstroke anyway) but I wondered why we're not supposed to do much breast-stroke?

Carlitawantsababy · 16/01/2012 14:37

Ooh lovely franki, how cute! Your labour sounds good, will you tell us about it?
broody glad you were reassured. Yes, do try the exercises, they have helped me so much. You should avoid breast stroke legs as they make the pelvis unstable. I only do breast stroke so now have to do it dragging my legs or with kicking legs, both are hard work and I now know what it is like for people who aren't very good at swimming, I have to stop and rest after every length Blush whereas would swim a mile twice a week before pregnancy with no rests. I'm sure the bump and extra weight have something to do with needing to rest too!

Just spotted this new thread...

Requested to join last one and then my beady little eye caught this one!!
Pasting original post now .... Hopefully!!

Please can I join in? Didn't think to look at the antenatal threads (duh!!) til tonight!!!!!
Stats: Due on 30th March with DS3. DS1 will be 7yo next month and DS2 turned 5 on 10th December.
Had really rough time up to 21wks with rotten hyperemesis, but this has now stopped and been overtaken by heartburn. Can live with that though!! My 2 are so excited about the impending arrival of their little brother that they have counted the days left to my EDD and are ticking them off on a calendar .... 74 and counting! Here's hoping he complies and arrives when he SHOULD :o

KikiRC · 17/01/2012 09:30

Hello all newcomers! Gosh, we're growing. Nice to have some second/ third-timers too, as many of us are newbies on here.

I'm going to be offline for a couple of days, visiting family, shopping & raiding lofts for baby things- when I get back I might be a bit more organised. Maybe.

Some of my closest friends had their first baby yesterday- that seemed quite a milestone because they were exactly 2 months ahead of me.. Eek...

Carlitawantsababy · 17/01/2012 10:01

Welcome dee! How cute of your children counting down the days! Grin
Have fun kiki hope you get loads of lovely things!

OP posts:
winterland · 17/01/2012 10:11

Hey all, still here too.. Due 10th march with my third (eek). Totally unorganised as yet. Have you all got your prams bought, hospital bags packed etc? I actually had number 2 at this point last time so you'd think I'd be organised! In denial I think. And not knowing the sex doesn't help I don't think...

Baby is super active and I am getting less and less sleep as time goes on, obviously getting in practice for when he/she arrives...

How are you all?

FrankiDon182 · 17/01/2012 10:19

My first labour was truly wonderful. I was 6 days overdue, my labour from start to finish was 8 hours. Had a very supportive birthing partner (DH who was at first making nervous unfunny jokes but soon realised nobody appericiated that 'the lady in the next room sounded like a dramatic porn star Blush she did but, timing not ideal lol)

Spent first 7 hours-ish on my feet, took 11 minutes to push little man in to the world. Opted for no pain relief (of course it hurt but felt like i could manage and was in control!) no stitches or tears/grazes!

Completely natural birth - perfectly healthy 7lb 11oz little man (who did give me a scare as didnt come out crying - my first question was 'it is alive?') How awful now i think about it! DH was too emotional to cut cord, turns out little man just wasnt a crier (he is now a chatterbox so thats justice!)
The only part of the whole childbirth experience that still makes me shudder is urinating afterwards (OUCH!) i spent many days afterwards moaning in tears to DH that is hurt terribly, trying to hold myself (realised this wasnt healthy or in anyway helpful but, it was reasonable at the time lol) i would literally have to run a bath to have a wee.. Get out of bath, run new bath to clean myself every time. Sounds silly and disgusting now but, it helped the pain?

Anyway its nice to meet you all, hope you are all having a lovely morning with your bumps/DCs. Mine is currently pretending to be a runner bean.. Dont ask!

Carlitawantsababy · 17/01/2012 12:21

Hi winter! Good to 'see' you. I'm good thanks, I finish work soon and am just waiting to move house, apart from that we're pretty organised in terms of having 'stuff' we still need to get the pram shipped from NI but I'm not too bothered about that in the first days, I have a sling!
Franki your labour sounds very good (though 8 hours still sounds so so long to me) 11 minutes of pushing is very efficient! I'm also going to try for no pain relief so it is nice to know you managed this. I thought the stinging weeing was because of tears but in your case clearly not! I have heard of lots of people doing the bath thing or having a jug of warm water near the loo, I think I'll go with that option, sounds easier than running a bath!
I'll add all the new stats...(bored of work)

Wow - Franki - your birth sounds lovely, I like hearing positive stories - most only want to tell you about the horror of it! I need to start thinking about my birth plan (I have a midwife appointment on Thursday and haven?t seen her for quite a while). Has anyone written theirs yet? Hoping to keep it short and simple but have no experience whatsoever (tips welcome!) I?d like to include:
*Be as mobile as possible

  • Use a birthing stool if available
  • Avoid epidural if possible (but open to it if I feel the need)
  • Erm? that?s it!!
