Right then my lovelies, this thread is going sloooooowly now we have our little secret facebook group Smile

But we need to keep posting here for people who haven't joined our other group, so keep on going!

If anyone wants to join the facebook group, can they ask someone cleverer than me and they will set it up for you!

Old thread is here

I didn't like TENS either - wasn't on properly and got proper electric shocks - funny in retrospect, didn't know what it would be like and just thought that was what it was supposed to feel like.
QueenFee haven't done a birth plan either time and won't do one this time either. DH knows that we just want as little intervention as possible and to be as active as I can but do what is necessary in an emergency to be safe. Have been able to hold sensible clear conversations with our mws as we got to the hospital and have had no concerns. (our local hospital is really fantastic though). I have told DH about using donated milk if I can't feed at the start for whatever reason - I think it was something that you said about on the fb page.

deardear · 14/01/2012 18:48

I am soooo tired I can't be arsed to do alot. My collie dog seems to have picked up on something at long last and is shadowing me and being very clingy. My last one weed in the kitchen every night until the day I had DD1 then stopped. The jack russell couldn't be more aloof although she has prob forgot the amount she was gaged around by her tail by DD2

Have cooked 2 lots of soup tonight. Doing ciabatta pizza things for tea with pea and ham soup. DH finishes work at 7 and will be ome about half past if everything on site is ok. Haven't felt much like food past few days at all.

I am counting down the days.

I called into my mum and dads earlier. Haven't seen them since Christmas although they only live 3 miles away. Don't have a close relationship with them and mum annoys the hell out of me when it comes to medical stuff. Asked today if I had any more medical appointments before baby arrives. Erm yes every week! Told her I had a scan on Wednesday and bet she will forget and ring next week to see when it is. She also told the girls that she is on standby for when I go into labour but they have arranged to go to friends as they didn't want to stop at mums. Does that sound bad of me/us? DDs are 14 and 12 so know what they want and I am only planning on being away from home for a few hours!

Not long now till the bus is going to have stops for labour :)

woowa · 14/01/2012 20:07

deardear - they sound old enough to choose to go to friends imo. Esp if relationships with granny aren't that close.

Birth plans - I think if YOU feel informed and your birth partner knows exactly what you want and knows what you'll happily give up in an emergency or dire pain, that should be enough. I think the birth plan thing could probably be REALLY helpful for people who just have no idea what labour is and what could happen, gives the MW a chance to explain it all. I'm not writing one, and MWs haven't asked (apart from aquanatal one just making conversation). Seeing as I can't give birth where I want, might be induced, have to have a drip and be monitored, I can't see much point in making any plans!!

Still hoping to go into labour naturally sometime before wednesday, just in case they want to induce me after the scan then! Bet my BP shoots up again at the scan... I though baby had moved back to back today, but i sat down for ages, and it is still sticking bottom out of my belly by kicking hard on my side, so i hope it stays like this!! Because of where DD's placenta was i never had any idea what part of her was where, but with so many scans and a rear placenta, I LOVE knowing which bit of baby is where this time!

Trying to find some thing worth watching on telly...any suggestions?!

Evening all,
Woowa - hello, wasn't expecting you to still be pregnant. Hope it happens naturally for you soon.
I loved tens, really helped, partly because I was concentrating on buttons and boosts etc at the start. Have a boots one this time a friend is lending me. She bought this last time and has alreay leant to 3 other mums.
Well my week was a bit pants. Felt awful. Quit school early, just couldn't do it. Spent most of week in bed or struggling on. Wed night, Thursday and Friday morning - reduced movements, only thing I felt from thumper was hiccups and they don't count. So after saying to myself that she was fine and probably just changed position or having a quiet day etc went in for monitoring. Heartrate was fine for the hour, some vague movements/pressure on bladder but nothing more. Scanned and all well there to, saw placenta good and she was practice breathing. She fine me not was the answer there so sent off to senior midwife to be reviewed. She reviewed me and put me on metaformin for diabetes as blood glucose not very controlled and she reviewed blood pressure which was very low, and then it all fell into place - I was extremely dehydrated, wee volume was low and very concentrated and all of above could be explained by dehyration. Baby moving normally again. Phew. There was a moment ther when she wsa phoning labour ward for advise I thought I was going to have her whipped out.
Feeling better although I guess some of the yuck feeling is just being very pregnant!
Packing hospital bag today. Still a few bits to go and lots of nesting to be done but feeling more calm about stuff generally now I feeling better.
35wks (36wks my dates)

QueenFee · 14/01/2012 22:57

Dh forgot to press my boost button on my tens during my 1st labour and I screamed at him! I love tens but hoping to use water more in this labour.

Got the carseat out the garage and washed all the covers so feel I can now relax. House looks all clean and lovely. Long may it last not likely with my 3 around lol

Kayano · 14/01/2012 23:04

My left leg varicose veins are throbbing and Iglesias and very sad. I am aching so much Sad

indicababy · 15/01/2012 07:01

Morning all, going to pack my bag today and sort through a load of the baby clothes I have been given.
Have been awake for a couple of hours now and would have started bag except DH is asleep in the room where most of the stuff is. Seeing as I have basically kicked him out of our bedroom til babbas here then I can't really kick him out the other room so I can do stuff!
SPD's gotten real sore the last few days and seems to correlate with indigestion. I'm swinging between wanting this baby now and wanting it to stay in me forever. Keep thinking I'm really going to miss sensation of baby inside me but DH reminds me I'll be too busy to miss anything,
Might go see what I can rustle up for breakfast...

Sugar80 · 15/01/2012 07:46

Another one going to pack my bag today, and wash some baby clothes. After my unexpected trip to hospital on Thursday night I've decided I need to get organised! (that little trip also taught me that I really should keep on top of shaving my legs, no matter how awkward it is!!)

I'm actually getting excited now and want to meet this baby. I've had more than enough of being pregnant, so I really hope she pops out a bit early.

I am getting organised today too, I have most things already, but DH suggested we make a list today of anything we have still to get to buy next week.

Morning, and welcome enraha - finally another Londoner here! All the others here seem to be Up North...

well so much for me hoping to totally avoid the delivery suite this time... don't get excited, just had bleeding Fri night/Sat am so family trotted up to hosp and turns out bleeding needs assessment by labour docs. Actually being strapped to a comfy chair for half an hour while kids taken away to see the fishpond was really relaxing! Bit of debate with doc who insisted I needed to spread knees wider or the speculum would hurt - having spent 10 min getting onto the couch I was insisting that my knees were not going any further and it wouldn't hurt - MW says same as doc, I say I'll do it myself then, doc gives it a go and it's OK.

Turns out I have a raw patch near my cervix caused by pregnancy hormones... very common but bleeds just like any of the serious conditions we're supposed to be looking out for atm. So while it's likely to be the same next time, if there's any more bleeding they want me to pop in again. Joy. Is there a list somewhere of 'really annoying/painful but not actually dangerous pregnancy issues', as I swear my body is working down that list!
Was almost worth going to hospital to see A running down the corridors shouting "I'm having a baby! I'm having a baby!" - he's been watching Ice Age 3 with the mammoth giving birth...

My parents are being fab and have worked out a safe place for A to sleep at theirs now he won't be in a travel cot (he used to sleep in the spare bathroom!) Suspect A's auntie is miffed though simply because A won't be going to her when I give birth, nor do I want her in the first few days. After that she will be very welcome...

Stuff from friends was delivered here, but I need to sort through it - there's some great new things like a from-birth electric swing, but the bouncy chair and breast pump have gone AWOL. The replacement bolts for the cot have also come but A and dn (both 3) were playing with them so I just hope none have been lost...

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 15/01/2012 11:07

Also planning on doing my hospital bag today! I did one for DD yesterday, other then some spare clothes which I'll need to add to it. Slightly ambivalent about mine, though, as it won't be complete - all my tiny baby clothes are with my secretary who's on mat leave, and who has lots to deal with right now as her bastard husband decided to beat her up on Christmas Eve, so there's lots else for her to do just now of course (so glad she's standing firm and has chucked him out).

Also, I'll need to completely redo it if I AM having an elective section. Think I'll do a "normal" one (with LOTS less than input in for DDs birthGrin) and a secondary one for if I end up staying in a few days - I can alway amalgamate them into a bigger bag if an elective section is the plan.

NC I am in London too!

PamBeesly · 15/01/2012 17:00

Today must be 'Pack your bag Sunday' I'm also (re-)doing mine, its been done twice with bits added but this is the final time, everything is in the wash, non-bio liquid and hopefully I can just relax a bit when its done. I still have to get a nursing bra but its still too soon according to the guides. I've 12 x vests, 7 x sleepsuits 2 x hats 2 x scratch mittens and all the required toiletries for baby. I've also my bag packed, I'm hoping to be not kept too long but my hospital tends to keep first timers for 3-5 days. I think if it all goes smoothly then I'd be able to go after one night (once BF is going ok)
Sorry to hear some people are having to go to hospital for checks, our babies like to give us the runaround :)
Is anyone else not sleeping very well? I hadn't been sleeping at all 2 weeks or so ago but now I'm sleeping but very very lightly, like I'm almost 'aware' that I'm asleep but will wake at anything. I used to sleep like a log and nothing would wake me.
I'm jealous of those who live in London, its my favourite city!

hermionejgranger · 15/01/2012 19:27

I was going to do mine but was successfully talked out of it on the FB group Wink. Instead I bought a beanbag, did the grocery shopping and inflated my birthing ball. I think I'm going to have to get another ball though because the one I hvae doesn't seem to want to inflate fully, and I'm not convinced it's the right size for me either, because when I'm sat on it my knees aren't at right angles.

Re: sleeping - I've been insomniac pretty much all the way through - on and off. The most annoying thing is knowing it's unlikely now to get better for a long time! I'm planning on sleeping whenever I'm sleepy when I start my maternity leave because it will matter less if my body clock is up the spout if I don't have to go to work!

Have to do a little bit of ironing so that we have something to wear for work tomorrow but then after that it's Dancing on Ice (started late to avoid the advert breaks), cheese on toast with beans on, and Sherlock!

hermionejgranger · 15/01/2012 20:32

ooh sorry - 35+2 - and definitely starting to feel like it!

deardear · 15/01/2012 20:40

Also starting to feel very very preggers. Pressure is uncomfortable downstairs. Feel like a needle is being inserted when he grinds his head round y bladder. Fed up of thrush. Kids say he has dropped and boy it feels like it! My fanjo must have resembled a sows getting ready to give birth this afternoon it was that swollen. DH used to be pig farmer and has mentioned the same - the cheek ofit!

Still got horrible cold and wake in the night thirsty more than anything else. Usually every hour or so and can easily go through nearly 2 pints just at night. Have a craving for ice as well and can't get enough. Thank god for American fridge freezers!

Hospital and MW this week. Never had a late scan before so quite looking forward to that.

Found out all my old baby blankets this morning and have washed them. Had more than I thought so hopefully won't need to buy anymore.

woowa · 15/01/2012 20:54

what a lot of hospital bags!! Mine is starting to get a bit chaotic, might have to start again tomorrow what with putting things in and taking them out. MW came round today, she was SOOO sensible and lovely, and explained exactly what will happen if I have to be induced (which no-one had even offered to do before!). MWs like her make some other MWs look a bit meh!

anyway, BP was still normal so no more HCPs until scan number 12 on wednesday! I honestly thought I had a lot of scans with DD (7), but 12 is ridiculous. I suppose it could get up to 13, but then i'll be term. STill praying for spontaneous start to labour and no need to be induced.

Bizarrely, my swelling down below is going, which i guess means that the lower baby is, the less swollen i'll be, it is SUCH A RELIEF after 4 months of rock hard bits. ew. Can't sleep though, partly because of the pain as soon as i lie down (in the middle bit of pelvis), partly because of DD and her teeth.

37+5, night all - going to watch "call the midwife" as soon as it's put on iplayer. sure it won't be as good as the real thing (OBEM) but it's about birth!

littlemonkeybix · 16/01/2012 08:20

Woowa (apart from good luck Smile ) i watched call the mw. liked it... even the births!! cannot watch even the adverts for OBEM!!
Cannot be arsed going to work today. 3weeks 2 days left in work... and no wish to be there AT ALL!!
33 today

Potol · 16/01/2012 08:53

Hello everyone, I haven't posted in months/weeks although I have been religiously following this and consuming my requisite quota of Gaviscon. woowa best of luck for avoiding that induction! zhen and nc another London one here too.

My update is that I have a low lying placenta that doesn't seem to have budged. Aaarggghh. So the consultant will give us a date for a C-section today. I don't mind per se (I'm quite comfortable with hospitals, medical procedures etc) and DH has in fact assisted with C-secs before, so was able to give me a really good account of what would happen on the day, which helped to ease any niggles. Also quite looking forward to seeing the baby, although I'm a teeny bit sad I won't have any dramatic labour stories to share (hopefully!). I didn't know I had an inner lentil-weaver but a totally unreasonable part of me thinks I won't be a 'real' mother if this is a C-section. Utter bollocks since I was born by C-sec since I was premature and small and clearly I don't think my mother is any less of a mother for that. But pregnancy/impending motherhood does VERY weird things to your brain. And so if you have any good ELCS stories, please send them my way!

The good news is that a) it's my last week at work b) DH has bought me a pregnancy massage package to use after work on Friday c) all else is ready for the baby (can you tell this is a PFB- seriously we have everything) d) the hospital bag is packed although now that I know I'll have to stay in longer, I think a few changes might be needed.

Kayano · 16/01/2012 09:13

Potol

Wtf is a pregnancy massage package and where do I sign up

desperate

Sounds amazing!

Potol · 16/01/2012 10:25

So DH has been saving up for this apparently- it's expensive because it's a three hour deal so a LOT of money (a sneak peek at the bank statement suggests 140 quid). I have no clue where it is- apparently I shall be given further instructions on Friday on where to go (ooooohh exciting...just like Sherlock). But from what I gather it's one of those places that do first a massage on a water bed or something with a hole for the bump. Then there's a second massage or a scrub, and finally a head massage cum facial. To be fair DH was a bit vague on the details and it sounds like a very posh place so I'm a little bit intimidated about the yummy mummies I shall encounter. But hey, if someone is massaging me for three hours, I'm not complaining. Btw I'm desperate too and it's only 10 am on a Monday morning- a whole week to go!

indicababy · 16/01/2012 10:39

welcome back potol massage sounds great, not too sure about the cum facial though Confused

Didn't get my bag packed as landlord rang Sun am to see if it was ok to come round and see bathroom( have had it re tiled), So most of Sun spent having quick square up clean around.

Will have bag packed today, Blush

Update for those of you not on Facebook:

I have been diagnosed with obstetric cholestasis. On lots of tablets and have to go to the hospital for monitoring and blood tests every other day, that is until they get sick of the sight of me and induce. They won't let me go over 39 weeks so in hoping for things to start naturally NOW!

phlossie · 16/01/2012 10:47

I have finished work! Hoorah! That is all.
