Squee-eeze those muscles, or squee-ee-eeeze those babies out!

Definitely getting lots of cramps in my back and sometimes round my front, but not severe or regular in any way. Think my bump is sort of tightening too but not really sure. It is mega annoying because the cramps get a bit bad sometimes and I think 'oh! maybe something is happening!' and then go away again. But I've 3 weeks left so it seems like it would be a bit early anyway for anything to be happening. Does this go on for weeks? I know many of you have had cramps/tightenings and stuff.

nickelbabe · 05/12/2011 15:23

no, no correctage.
the norm is about 6 months, but there's no reason why you can't do it sooner or later than that.
whenever feels right to you, i guess.

I am torn on the subject myself, because Isbn will be going to church as soon as possible (or we could leave it with the cats, but i don't think they'd be able to feed it), and if we wait till 6 months, then it's been going to church for ever before it's officially welcomed!
but, tradition says that Easter Day is baptism day, so that would be ideal for a December baby, i think. :)

kri5tycringle · 05/12/2011 16:12

mopsy that's how mine started the night before labour, by morning I was thinking... Mmm ok they are labour pains but maybe it'll go on weeks? Then in the afternoon I has to breath through them and couldn't concentrate on anything else for that minute

oi oooo I hope this sweep works, you're doing brill to be 2cm! By the time your cervix is ready you'll be even further yay!

For all of you feeling low..big Thanks its nearly time to meet your little ones and it'll all be worth it!

I had a voicemail from a doctor at the hospital today to see how I was... but left no number, is that normal???!

Also msbuggy my boobies are alit

kri5tycringle · 05/12/2011 16:12

A lot more comfy I ment to say lol thank you :o

mopsytop · 05/12/2011 16:21

Hmm well that's interesting kri5ty - I bet tomorrow I will be the same and it won't have been anything! I would be pleased though if the baby came early to be honest, because I am being monitored a lot for high bp/proteinuria and I really don't want to be induced if can avoid it but it is looking more likely, so if the baby could come early by itself that would be the best I think! I wanted her to stay put originally but am now thinking early better than induction and I am over 37 weeks so it wouldn't be a problem.

Tinselperion · 05/12/2011 16:41

figgy I'm having a sweep tomorrow when I'll be 40+3 and then not sure what's after that. Wouldn't be surprised if next sweep wasn't till 41+3 as the community midwives are only at our little surgery on Tues mornings.

I've been bouncing on my ball like a maniac all afternoon and doing big circles and figure 8s, after walking 2 miles this morning. Bouncing is quite uncomfortable so I hope that means it's doing something! Luckily the baby is moving around inside a lot so at least I'm not worrying about reduced movements.

I have taken the excellent advice about drafting a standard holding pattern text message and have sent it 8 times today. How long before I offend someone I wonder...Xmas Wink

cheeptrick · 05/12/2011 16:41

Cool i think we will wait for easter to get her Christened.

DeckTheHawthersWithBells · 05/12/2011 16:44

Hello hello - invasion of the relatives is over and so i've finally had the day to myself thank god.

had final (i hope) consultant appt last week and the baby is measuring 6lb 4oz at 37 weeks so we are all on track for a 'normal-ish' birth which i'm now shitting it about. but the consultant has made an appt for a me to arrange a cs for if i go overdue. i'm not loving the idea of another cs as i'd at least like the chance to go into labour and find out what its like although i'm under no illusion that it will be hideous. i know there is no guaranteed way of bringing labour on (otherwise we'd all be at it) but i really really don't want to end up with a cs - any wise words or soothing comments gratefully received?

p.s. DH is well up for the shagging it out option - bless him, he really perked up when i told him the midwife recommended it Xmas Grin

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 05/12/2011 16:47

Cheep DD was 3 mths old when we had her christened.

Feel really tired :( still got loads of pressure and back ache - need to stop wishing that labour would start as i'm getting impatient!

kri5tycringle · 05/12/2011 17:05

hawthers I have no idea if it had anything to do with it, but I had reflexology, then It all kicked off after that... I thought it was a load of rubbish, but I'm totally convinced now, originally I only went to help with the spd etc x

DeckTheHawthersWithBells · 05/12/2011 17:07

kri5ty will they do reflexology at any time or will they only do it if you are over 40 weeks? i'll be booking it in for monday morning if they'll let me!

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 05/12/2011 17:08

Hawthers They will do reflexology any time - I've been having it since 36 weeks. :)

OiMistletoe · 05/12/2011 17:36

Yep, can confirm that they'll do reflexology at any time, however your practitioner may not do the labour inducing points until you're at full term. (it didn't do anything for me, but my feet are so swollen, she probably couldn't manipulate the points properly.)

TheFirstNoelChinchilla · 05/12/2011 17:47

cheep I ended up being christened at about age 8, so there really is no 'correct' time!

Sounds like loads of you are are ready to pop- it sounds sooo frustrating. Like falalala I've not had a single symptom, no BH, no twinges, no show, no nothing and am 38/38+1. However, as I've got an elcs next Monday, this is probably a good thing...

I suppose the only thing you can do is look at the positives of each deckthehawthers, getting to experience birth or the more controlled nature of the cs...and then that either way you'll be bringing a baby home.

Went for a 'nap' today that ended up being a 3+ hour sleep, so really must've knackered myself out with the illness in the night followed by Bluewater. Feel somewhat sluttish Xmas Blush.

And although nothing to compare with figgy's skunk, OH has just knocked over and broken an entire bottle of Martini across the kitchen floor- thank God we've already had the HV, the house will reek....

PludolphTheRedNosedReindeer · 05/12/2011 17:50

Re: christening: DS still hasn't been christened, but we seem to have finally got the go-ahead ot have it done in the next-door village to where FIL grew up. There aren't many Orthodox churches left in that part of the world, so you'd think they would be pleased to get one: now they can have two, if we "do" him and DD at the same time this summer! Smile

Hawthers, well survived! Hopefully the shagging option will help, and you won't need an EMCS (as it would probably be best to go into a CS willing, not panicking).

Sympathy for those suffering the continuing am-I-ain't-I. It seems we've gone days without any births, which sounds odd! Maybe babies are awaiting the full moon, or just waiting for us all to forget about them or something (and then they will shout "boo!" Silly babies: as though they were Hallowe'en babies and not Xmas ones!) My symptoms are in total abeyance, so I'm not "expecting" at all... which is good, as the EDD isn't till Saturday. I'll be keeping you later-December people company awhile longer! Smile

When will your UTI results come in, figgy? It seems mad that your skunk has been diagnosed more quickly than you have! Confused

OiMistletoe · 05/12/2011 18:15

I'm in shock tfnchinchilla, I pray it wasn't Martini Rosso. Otherwise I may have to go and lie down. You have my dearest sympathies for your sad loss. Sad

Tinselperion · 05/12/2011 18:52

Well I just managed to get a last minute reflexology appointment tomorrow morning, and then right after that I'll go to the MW to have a sweep. Who knows if any of it will work but at least I won't just be mooching up and down the high street consuming my (enormous) bodyweight in peppermint hot chocs.

DH wants to come to the sweep and it really helped having him there keeping me relaxed with hypno breathing when I had one uncomfortable and then one very painful speculum exam at the hospital at 34 weeks, so I'm glad I didn't even have to ask him.

In other news...chinchilla martinis come in bottles?! How have I not known this before!!!??? My great-grandfather drank three martinis a day (lived to 100!) and he used to say the way to make a proper martini was to pour gin into a martini glass while looking at the vermouth bottle Xmas Grin

plu I bet we'll have a cluster of births this weekend, and my prediction 5 threads ago about the full moon will come true!!

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 05/12/2011 19:23

mmm Martini yummy.

Tinsel Nice that your DH will be coming to your sweep - my DP disappeared to the otherside of the room when I had mine done lol.

DD is in bed, DP has nipped out and i'm sat watching Prison Break with pressure - if only I knew it would kick start something!

msbaublestwinkle · 05/12/2011 19:28

Well, I know I am having a baby on Saturday

Off to get the DDs to sleep, am knackered too and leaving DP to tidy the living room while I read in bed!

OiMistletoe · 05/12/2011 19:40

I was alone for my sweeps. But I think that was preferable for me. Just had a big chat with DH about our feelings should we start labour, but then be recommended an emergency c-section.
I really ought to write a will... Xmas Shock

sevenswansaswimming · 05/12/2011 19:42

Hi, hope everyone has had a good day. Please forgive me for failing miserably to keep up with the thread.

Had a very productive day, had Eva registered then stopped to get a Xmas tree on the way home. It's standing in a bucket of water in the garage overnight then we're trimming up tomorrow, which will involve lots of festive tunes and mince pies!

After a week on formula I'm expressing again. I'm only getting a few drops at the moment but even that's enough to sort out Eva's chronic constipation, bm really is wonderful stuff! I've started taking fenugreek so I'll hopefully be giving her plenty soon.

DeckTheHawthersWithBells · 05/12/2011 19:43

Very good point chinchilla. Will remember that every time I even start to want to grumble about a cd.

Currently hiding in the bedroom while H (down graded from DH after coming in and making comments about all the stuff I haven't done today on my 'day off') wrestles DS into the bath having a little weep as rather tired due to dS being up for 40 mins in the night - good practice for a few weeks time?

HoneyLovesChristmasCake · 05/12/2011 20:07

Got in from our 'day trip'...didn't manage to have baby on the ferry I'm afraid Xmas Sad. I've decided that my body has taken a well earned rest today not stalled; contractions yesterday left me exhausted so maybe it was just what I needed Xmas Hmm Still had regular tightenings today but without the exhausting pain.

Had a really good day; passed a xmas tree farm that was selling trees any size for £12...love a bargain Xmas Grin so that's sorted. Also, picked up a baby bath which I think was the last thing on my list of things to buy (apart from a stairgate which I guess can wait a few months) & stopped for a yummy Black Forest Hot Chocolate on the way home.

mopsytop · 05/12/2011 20:40

Tinsel, the martini referred to here actually IS the vermouth! So the cocktail is made with gin and martini, if you see what I mean. Although usually with white martini/vermouth, not red. I would love a gin martini with a twist of lemon (not a fan of the olive) yuummmm. I suspect after 9 months of max 1-2 small glasses a week it would get me completely legless though!!

Sleighbellsinthesnow · 05/12/2011 20:51

My sweep will be at 40+4 but only because they do them on Wednesdays (or some garbled reason they gave me like that). DH is coming with me - mostly because I'm a big wuss and asked him to come!

Sore back and loads of pressure but I think that's just from a load of futile walking! I have just ignored the texts/phone calls today for the most part - blindly pretending phone not working (except for mumsnet of course)!
