Here's the new thread!
Squee-eeze those muscles, or squee-ee-eeeze those babies out!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
DarcieandSnowballsmum · 05/12/2011 12:43

Oi I'm shocked myself lol! At least i think its what I can feel lol. Soft & squidgy and just about reachable. unfortunately I don't own a crochet hook :(

How was the first sweep for you?

OiMistletoe · 05/12/2011 12:45

falala my DH also talks to the baby a lot via my tummy. It is very sweet. Although lately the little secret chats (sometimes about mummy!) have become stern "talkings too" about making an appearance. Xmas Grin
good luck with the journey today honey, and in the hope that I do go into labour, and go silent for a while, have a wonderful birthday tomorrow!
Absolutely huge, big, positive labour vibes to all who want them! (which sound like more of us every day!) xxx

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 05/12/2011 12:47

Its lovely how all your DH talk to your bumps - mine thinks its silly - however, after the hospital trip yesterday and knowing things are close, he did give baby a 'stern talking to' lol

OiMistletoe · 05/12/2011 12:48

Crossed chats - the first sweep was fine, darcies no problem, slight discomfort, but nothing horrid. It was just in the evenjng when I felt a bit tender - but was that the sweep or the low baby?
I'm not looking forward to number two, tbh, which is silly as I'm sure it will be fine, and the midwife is really lovely.
Man up Vanessa!!!

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 05/12/2011 12:50

Have you noticed much of a change since sweep 1?

Hohohomouse · 05/12/2011 12:55

40+3 Still bugger all here. No nesting, no pains, no stretch marks - where it not for the mahoosive bump I may start to think I have imagined the whole thing...

The constant texting, e mailing, face booking and twittering is starting to get up my nose. Don't have time to DO anything because I am too busy responding to bits of technology. I have put up a message on fB just saying no baby yet, trying my hardest, bear with me etc and people still respond in their droves asking questions....
Sigh, I should be pleased people care enough to be bothered. I may just stick to Mumsnet in future...

LMH I am gutted things are tough for you at the moment. It's difficult enough facing a properly life changing event without everything else kicking off too

Honey Oi I am excited for both of you. Sure we shall have a couple of babes in next 24 hours

Hohohomouse · 05/12/2011 12:56

Just posted this on a live birth thread by accident as I have been lurking there. They will probably think I am mental!

TheFirstNoelChinchilla · 05/12/2011 12:57

I think figgy's won the prize for 'oddest thing to have to deal with in pregnancy'...and I have to admit it made me giggle too, sorry! Really hope skunk is on the mend and not decorating your house in a non Xmassy-way...

Much sympathy to all those in the labour-teasing phase, or the being upset one, or in your case darcies, both. Hope you've feeling a bit better?

mopsy, like with HLCC (happy birthday for tomorrow btw), step away from those cleaning products, don't knacker yourself out! We did Bluewater yesterday to sort out the cot disaster issue, and get a few last minute bits, and I swear by the end of it my lower vertebrae and coccyx were attempting to fuse...God it hurt. Didn't really move much from the sofa after that, and am looking forward to a nap this afternoon.

Making big piles of food for the freezer over the week- stripped a couple of chickens and made the chicken stock last night, so will make soup today.

OiMistletoe · 05/12/2011 12:58

A tidal wave of mucas (well, over 2-3 days). But other than that nothing really. She said I was 2cm and fully effaced with bulging membranes (waters). Didn't expect me to make this appointment, she thought she'd be visiting me at home instead after a weekend birth.

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 05/12/2011 13:02

TFNC I'm not upset anymore. however, wish active labour would kick start now tho. Thank you for asking Xmas Grin

Oi Lets hope this will be your last sweep and you'll be in labour tonight :)

nickelbabe · 05/12/2011 13:14

don't forget to register your births on the advent babies calendar!
Grin

nickelbabe · 05/12/2011 13:15

Mouse - don't think you're mental - we're gathering up quite a posse of "please can this baby come now"ers Grin

OiMistletoe · 05/12/2011 13:23

darcies did you notice anything new after your sweep yesterday?
Good luck - hope you start soon.
Just waiting to go in for mine now... Dum de dum...

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 05/12/2011 13:24

Oi Not too sure tbh. Think its def thinned out abit more. How reachable should it be when fully effaced?!

jinglebum · 05/12/2011 13:28

Afternoon ladies - sounds like lots of people are just so close now - hopefully I am too. Went into town this morning to get a few christmas bits and could barely walk by the end but once again all calmed down now. Our builder told me this morning that he is terrified of me going into labour when they are here! He is quite young - bless him.

Had a lovely day yesterday as DH took DS out biking and then I met them for a lovely pub lunch - so I had time to myself and time with them.

Told DS that baby should be coming out soon - he was very concerned that I did not have a hole in my tummy big enough for baby to come out of! Not sure how to explain that to a 3 year old.

I have yet another scan tomorrow as still measuring smalll (only 33cm on friday when I am 39 now) - hopefully all will go ok.

I am sure we must have some birth announcements soon!!

msbaublestwinkle · 05/12/2011 14:17

I'm sat crocheting and being grumpy! Have had a couple of contractions in the last hour, I still think I'm at least a week away from real labour though.

jingle we decided to be very factual with the DDs...they have watched a lot of birth videos!

nickelbabe · 05/12/2011 14:21

ooh, i forgot about crocheting!
I've got this blanket I started about 3 months ago! haven't done any on it for ages.

OiMistletoe · 05/12/2011 14:27

Just back from sweep number 2. Was easier than no.1 as she'd broken the membranes/done the work last time. Still effaced, still 2 - 2.5cm dilated, tummy is rock hard, head felt slightly higher - so she couldn't tell if baby had moved to back-to-back.
She was concerned about my swollen legs, feet and lower tummy, but as my bp and urine were fine, she says it's just the extra weight. If there had been any problems with bp or urine, she said she'd have "had me in" - I guess for an induction. Oh well, more waiting.
Got caught in horrendous hailstones! Sad

cheeptrick · 05/12/2011 14:31

Jingle - my son is 3 in feb and we just told him we were going to the hospital to collect the baby as he didn't ask any questions i just left it like that. When he asks i will tell him the truth and go into as much detail as he wants.

We had a better night as i co-slept with Hope and it worked she just feed and slept instead of crying eveytime i put her in mosses basket! I stayed in bed til 1pm today Blush

Hope missed out on Advent as she was born on 26th Sad

I want to write xmas cards and wrap gifts today and then put up the tree. I cant wait for xmas DH has another week off and it going to be so good Grin

festivefiggy · 05/12/2011 14:37

Just back from the MW they think i have a UTI so waiting on test results now, no symptoms of one though so we will see. Just feeling very frustrated, LO is partly engaged with head in pelvis but he is also lying transverse (how can be both that would be some angle to have head down and body across) i had a feeling he had moved as always down the right hand side and now have movement all over. 39+3 today absolutely no signs of movement, plugs, BH or nesting but she still says could happen tomorrow without any of the signs or could be another 2 weeks dont expect them to say you WILL have baby on 12th but some indication either way would be good.

Ladies who are having sweeps what dates have you been when getting them? They told me today that they wont do a sweep at the 40 week appointment (not that i could get an appt that week anyway) so earliest they will do one is on 16th when i will be 41 wks to the day. Hoping i wont need to go to that appt and all will start on own but that honestly seems a lifetime away at the moment, not sure my stomach muscles or DH's sanity can last that long either!!

As for skunky yes she is a real skunk (DH's idea he wanted a lizard or similar i wanted a dog) and yes the vet diagnosed her 1st case of IBS after weeks of expensive tests and unpleasant instances of anal prolapse (the skunk not the vet). She has been fine this year just typical that yesterday she decides to have an attack, seems fine again today bless her must have been something she ate despite her controlled diet.

nickelbabe · 05/12/2011 14:38

sorry cheaptrick - if it makes you feel better, Isbn was supposed to have missed advent by being born on the 26th. :(

I can still put her on, if you want me to. :)

OiMistletoe · 05/12/2011 14:46

Hi figgy - cranberry juice! I had 1st sweep at 40wks exactly, 2nd at 40+3, 3rd booked for 40+6 (Thursday). I'll be 41 wks on Friday.
Sorry to hear about your skunk.
I'd really love a pet -a skunk would be lovely! But DH and I both work full days, and I often have to travel. Sad If I could have a bit of land, I'd be able to have chickens at least. As it is, I have 2 goldfish - that started laying eggs when I got pg!

cheeptrick · 05/12/2011 14:49

Thanks Nickelbabe it ok you dont have to put her on Smile

I have a question: Is there a correct age to get a child Christened?

mopsytop · 05/12/2011 14:52

Cheep no correct age, you can be christened at any age at all.

aethelfleda · 05/12/2011 14:52

You've got it in one, plu: buy two identical stockings, give one to hang and then just swap em when the time comes. We had a near miss involving a set of dropped jingle bells one year, which is why we changed to using two!

cheep: we did the "going to hospital to have baby and then come home" as DD1 wasn't quite two.... About 3 weeks later she asked me to go back to the hospital so that we could return DD2, as she didn't want a baby anymore! This time around we've been far more anatomical, so DD2 has told the teacher lots about where babies come from (!!!)

3 weeks plus whatever of feeling like a barge to go.....lots of lovely labour vibes to the rest of you, esp those who are now due or over!
