Oi I really hope things kick off soon for you. I share your pain - it is mental torture on all these false starts. Yesterday afternoon I began to get really bad cramping and intense pressure (as well as the usual BHs). It seemed to move into contractions and I announced to DH that this is it - then it stopped.

Seven - why are you trying to do the housework with a newborn at home? I think you have enough on your plate at the moment. Can housework not pass to someone else for a while?

On stretch marks - I agree with Darcies. Sorry to be annoying but I don't have any and hardly bothered with the creams etc. I bought bio oil (hated it) and have hardly touched it. Have used moisturiser on bump the odd time to combat itchiness but think the luck is inherited - mum had 3 children and didn't get any. Having said that, not sure if you're prone to getting them if the creams would lessen the effect - I'd just be wary of spending loads.

festivefiggy · 04/12/2011 10:25

Morning all

It's funny was using avent creme and had gone through 2 tubes with not a Mark insight then bought a third and from start thought it's consistency was much runnier than the other 2 tubes so then they appeared have bought done bio oil now to keep them under control. I also have a bruise next to belly button and a weird brown line (like A faded henna tattoo) which goes from my belly button up my torso to my bra line.

Just got up After a crap night sleep between loo trips, hip pain, rude dreams about a work colleague and obsessing about Xmas card lists. PIL round for lunch later I just wanna watch crap tv talking of which have bought series 1 of criminal minds off eBay yesterday to add to my box set pile as an avoidance of day time tv. if it's any good there's a backlog of 6 series to catch up on over the long winter Grin

Hope you all have nice days

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 04/12/2011 10:47

Sleighbells My mum gained loads of stretch marks with me and then more with my sister. Wasn't impressed when I gained hardly any Grin

DD started off well this morning and then started screaming when she 'didn't want to'. Then DP yelled at me telling me the reason she is this way is because of me :( and then yelled at me about an hr later because he couldn't look past the end of his nose to find a clean duvet cover for our bed! Then get told to calm down and stop going on when I didn't. He just thought it was acceptable to talk to me in that way today...still waiting for an apology which I prob won't get today and he's taken DD out so 'mummy can calm down' aaarrrggghhhh.....breathe!

Need labour to kick start now. back ache and hormones are not a good mix!

msbaublestwinkle · 04/12/2011 11:00

January at the earliest! As I'll be tandem nursing (at least! As DD1 wants to sta having milk again when DD3 arrives!) I'm going to make sure that my supply is well settled before I diet, I remember the hunger pangs from bfing too well from last time!

aethel I get the DDs to 'give the baby a massage', they love doing it!

darcies I am with you on the hormones today! DP hadn't got the hose and connector for the birth pool and hadn't told me he hadn't got them...so I yelled at him until he went out and got them. I am normally very laid back and never shout! I had one of those 'you don't care about me and I'm going to have a baaaaaaby!' moments.

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 04/12/2011 11:14

Msbaubles I had one of those the other night and DP told me to stop being over-dramatic!

DP is trying to suck up now - been to Asda and brought me back some Mountain Dew - I love the stuff and could only get in USA. So he brought me bottle to 'cheer me up' lol.

lottielou39 · 04/12/2011 11:49

40+1 today and nothing apart from a couple of false starts (contractions 10 mins apart for an hour or so, then they stop) So annoying! I had both my girls at 39 weks, so was convinced I'd have a baby by now!

Tinselperion · 04/12/2011 11:52

I've used every cream and bio oil pretty consistently and I still look like my belly, thighs and bum(!) lost a pretty severe fight with a panther. Ah well - I have stretch marks on my boobs from puberty and they are nearly invisible so hopefully the same will happen to these.

Still nothing to report - more cramps, more painful but not regular enough for timing. Much worse when I walk or bounce on the ball. And the baby has dropped so much now that I can get my full hand between the top of the baby and my ribs! (most of the pg it has been very high - jammed up as high as it could go). Weirdly everything is starting to swell and get sore - hands, ankles, throat and even v sore bits down below...anyway off for lunch and a walk in Windsor great park.

TheFirstNoelChinchilla · 04/12/2011 12:32

figgy I've got that funny pale brown line too; knew about the lina negra (sp?) but thought that was meant to be a) very dark and b) going from belly button down. Always comforting to know when someone else has got something slightly different!

I don't mind my stretch mark patch at all- give the number of moles (covered in the buggers) couple of tattoos and number of stretch marks I have (got a fair few going through puberty) a few more of them can just join the party...

Feeling pretty urgh after being up for a couple of hours in the night with (tmi alert) diarrhoea and horrible nausea. Now have to go and do some shopping (sob) but have warned OH I'm really not up to much Xmas Sad.

BaaBaaHumbug · 04/12/2011 12:37

I haven't used anything on my bump but have no new marks from this pregnancy which supports the genetic theory.

Did think bump had dropped last week but if it did it has moved back up again.

Wondering whether to go with a sweep next week as will be offered one at my midwife appointment, I don't they work unless you're very ready in which case you will start naturally anyway iyswim?

HoneyLovesChristmasCake · 04/12/2011 12:38

Afternoon all. Still getting tightenings but they're only occasionally painful so I've pretty much given up on having the baby this weekend.

I have loads of stretch marks from puberty on my bum & they've always bothered me & my mum had loads on her belly from having me (before she got a tummy tuck) so I think I'm prone to them but I have always been rubbish at moisturising. I started taking omega 3 oils, drinking tonnes of water & using the mama mio oil from day 1 of pregnancy & I've no new stretch marks...maybe it's just luck but I'm sticking with it as I hate them.

Would someone pleeease have a baby now...I feel like we've all stalled but once one of us pops I'm sure it'll all start up again Xmas Smile

jinglebum · 04/12/2011 13:25

Afternoon all. Having a lazy day here. Spent morning playing with DS and reading in front of the fire but now DH and DS have gone out for a bike ride. Plan is to meet them in a village nearby for a pub lunch shortly.

When DH asked what I fancied doing today my reply was have this baby! Feel ready for it now and like many of you I am tired of lots of false starts, when I get excited and then it all goes away again.

Surely someone will get going soon!!

mopsytop · 04/12/2011 13:44

hi all, sounds like lots of false starts/maybe latent stages? Hope something happens soon for all those of you in that situation! My baby dropped this week and I need to pee ALL THE TIME, it's a nightmare. I also have a massive nesting urge. But not due for 3 whole weeks. Does that mean I will spend next 3 weeks cleaning? May not be a bad thing I suppose :)

Also sorry this is WAY TMI but I want to know, anyone else get all swollen 'down there'? Is it a normal late pregnancy thing? 'swollen lips' so to speak Blush Sorry for the TMI but really want to know !!!

mopsytop · 04/12/2011 13:44

p.s. kri5ty really glad things are a bit better but don't panic if you have another slump back into feeling low - it's normal - hopefully you won't but just in case and keep coming on here!!!! Gorgeous baby, awwww so cute.

Hohohomouse · 04/12/2011 14:21

Hello all. I have had a really weird sensation today if just not being pregnant. Still difficult to move etc but coping so much better with it. What is up with that?? From barely able to move to chuntering around as normal.
Just bizarre. I know we all have up days and down days but this is crazy!
mopsy read on a thread somewhere, maybe even here that that is totally normal due to hormones and that's why necks tend to puff up as well??

mopsytop · 04/12/2011 14:24

Oh I remember that too! Maybe we have discussed it and my preg-brain just forgot ... !

MerrySorelip · 04/12/2011 14:34

Good afternoon all!

I'm feeling pretty good today, though I do have a really annoying backache, stabby anal pain, and constipation. Tried pineapple, sex and nipple stimulation last night, which did sod all.

Ah, stretch marks. Well, my stomach looks like Freddy Krueger got a bit annoyed and took his frustrations out on it, but I can't say I care much. They will settle down eventually.

Anyone watching Black Mirror tonight?

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 04/12/2011 14:48

Hey Ladies, just on way back from hospital had really bad back ache & tightenings etc - lovely MW monitored baby and could see tightenings, done internal exam and 1-2cms although cervix not 100% effaced, however, is soft. She kindly done a sweep too :) baby is back 2 back which explains the back ache an she agreed once baby gets into right position labour should really kick start as head is fully engaged, been sent home and told to get on my all fours or lay on my side! And she expects to see me/us soon x

MerrySorelip · 04/12/2011 14:54

Darcie that's great news, I'm Xmas Envy Not great about having backache obviously, but at least you know things are on the move. How was the sweep?

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 04/12/2011 14:59

Sweep wasn't painful at all just uncomfortable so hoping that does the trick, i'm currently on my all fours & DP is cutting up a fresh pineapple Xmas Grin

aethelfleda · 04/12/2011 15:15

Hi mopsy, I've got 3 weeks plus two days to go as well, wexan hold virtual hands while everyone else goes pop!!

Good luck to all those mummies about to kick off with things, it will all be worth it soon! We're having a quiet day with the cousins, my bro lives about 10 miles away so we see them quite a lot. I reckon if the northern lot are planning a meetup we should think about a Softie Southerners meet at some point: I'm nearish to Hampton court, and am sure some
of you aren't a million miles away (tyel?)...

OiMistletoe · 04/12/2011 15:52

mopsy I've been extra fleshy downstairs for a couple of months. Really quite odd.
No more imminent labour signs here. Sad

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 04/12/2011 15:55

Mopsy Have to say not really noticed if i'm honest!

HoneyLovesChristmasCake · 04/12/2011 16:08

Just got in. We went for a wander around town to try to see if things would start up again & to buy a xmas tree. Can't believe the price of trees this year Xmas Shock £35 for a medium non-drop tree!!! We've decided to put it off for the week as DP knows someone who sells them.

Tightenings were much more frequent (3-4 mins apart) & painful enough to take my breath away but as soon as I got home they've slowed again. Xmas Hmm Hope things start moving Snowball

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 04/12/2011 16:10

Honey Hopefully things kick start for you too Xmas Grin

festivefiggy · 04/12/2011 16:17

Getting annoyed now bump had dropped now it's back under my ribs and peope have said to me all weekend how high it still is.....now I dont mind telling myself he's high but have an irrational dislike of people telling me the same.

Another one who can verify the swollen intimates feels really flabby down there I don't like having a fat fanjo Angry when will the indignity stop!! god help my midwife tomorrow!!
