Here's the new thread!
Squee-eeze those muscles, or squee-ee-eeeze those babies out!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
aethelfleda · 04/12/2011 16:53

Nah figgy I'm sure midwives are used to the pudgy girlie bits as they see so many... i'm Sure they keep a pair of extra long vets calving gloves in the bag for those ladies with especially super huge ladybits (how's that for a mental image, very "all creatures great and small"!!! Sorry!!)

Tinselperion · 04/12/2011 17:04

Yep mopsy et al - fat fanjo over here too. I first noticed it when my cotton pants didn't fit quite right down there anymore, so I'm limited to stretchy fabrics now. Didn't someone say it's to make us likely to tear?

aethel I'm just down the road from you in Eton Smile Totally up for a meetup!

My mum and I walked all over Windsor today and she bought a really cute fleece outfit in Zara (3-6 month size as we have loads of 0-3 month stuff now). I was in serious misery from some of the cramps but didn't say anything because I have decided to keep everything to myself from now on until I am really, truly sure I am in labour. Telling anyone I was having contractions was a big mistake as I think it came off as crying wolf. Thank goodness I have you guys to talk to!!!!

Sleighbellsinthesnow · 04/12/2011 17:27

Once again this thread keeps me sane! Tinsel I just said to my DH today you're going to ignore me when I do go into labour it feels like I've cried wolf so many times. I'm also not telling anyone until I am well into labour because don't even trust myself on the issue any more.

We bought our C'mas tree today and put it up. We usually don't put it up this early but decided it might get side-lined if we have a shiny new baby next weekend (here's hoping). It has completely cheered me up!

Apart from that - nothing much going on here today!

BeeMyBaby · 04/12/2011 17:42

anyone heard how sotireds elcs went?

mopsytop · 04/12/2011 17:48

Everyone it's relevent to - it seems SO annoying that you keep having all these signs and then nothing. That must be so frustrating.

Glad I am not alone in the fatser fanjo, god is there ANY bit of me that won't get fat?!

I have been cleaning like mad, cleaned the fridge, took everything out and washed all the shelves etc., defrosted freezer, washed all baby sheets, cleaned bathroom (even down on hands and knees to scrub floor). Alas, I do not think it is nesting, just my dirty house Blush.

aethelfleda · 04/12/2011 18:26

mopsy that REALLY sounds like nesting to me!!!

I've been sat round brother's house today, playing Mario Kart with the DDs cousins and now we're watching The Five Doctors on DVD...
"No, not the Mind Probe....Aaaargh!."
This is known as anti-Nesting, aka sitting on one's arse...

cheeptrick · 04/12/2011 18:46

Hi everyone

Sending labour dust to you Darcie Smile

MW weighed Hope and she lost 7% then got weighed again today and she has put on 60oz in 2 days and is up to 5% and just over 8lb. So bf going good and nipples ok now as we have sorted latch Smile

Still mixed up day and night, doing everything suggested to right it.

Iwent xmas shopping today at Meadowhell and had my first bf in public session but it was ok.

We meet two people we know and showed off the new baby Grin

We all had an AQaron day as he went in the soft play area, got a toy from disney store, picked lunch and is now helping Daddy make tea. All in the hope that he will feel better about the new baby and calm down abit Grin

So far he is having fun and has been ok today. He still wants to touch the baby all the time and has checked on her most of the day - coming back from playing to check then running off back to play.

I'm beinging to panic about having two kids and looking after them on my own when DH in work. I have decided to write a rountine out so i know what to do and when for the whole week. We are working on keeping the house tidy and the clearners coming regularly. Getting Air to start a stricked bed time rouitine and not let him get over tired. And involving him in careing for the new baby by getting the mat ready and a nappy bag and the wipes, giving him praise and stars for his reward chart and sticking to the punishments if he breaks a "house rule". I think he is worse if stuck in doors all the time and he needs to play and run for at least an hour per day to keep him clam the rest of the time.

I have had a few moments of crying as i feel guilty for having PND with Air and how that might have affected him but i can't change the past i can only do my best now

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 04/12/2011 19:19

just want to cry - fed up, back ache & DP & I had a row over a poxy pillowcase that he couldn't find :(

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 04/12/2011 19:38

Cheep Your doing brilliantly. I'm sure Air knows what a fab mum he has so try not to feel guilty.

LittleMissHumbuggery · 04/12/2011 19:46

aethel Five Doctors is my eight year old's favourite Classic Who. This is only because I haven't sat her down with Key to Time yet:o

OiMistletoe · 04/12/2011 20:07

cheep it sounds like you're doing everything right - so cut out the silly guilt feelings! darcies cheer up chuck! Try and take everything with a hefty pinch of salt. We're all a bit hormonal, tired, achey...
C'mon ladies, chins up! We've put up with an awful lot to get this far. These last few weeks of hell will not break us! Xmas Grin

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 04/12/2011 20:20

Thanks Oi

Sorry for having a moan earlier feel alright now minus the backache and pressure! DP even gave me a back rub as a sort of sorry!
Now laid in bed (on my side) watching X Factor.

kri5tycringle · 04/12/2011 21:08

Big labour thoughts to everyone who wants them now!!

I too am spending my spare time cleaning!! Cleaning and tidying whilst Saul sleeps!

darcies its not silly for you getting upset over that, I sobbed like a baby yesterday as I thought OH was having a go at me for taking too long to cool the bottle down... obviously I can't help how long it took!

cheep its not something you can have helped, as you know, you don't 'choose' to have it, and you came through it :-D
You're a great mummy!!

kri5tycringle · 04/12/2011 21:11

breast question

Milk has come in... I'm bottle feeding.
Boobs are killing and I have a couple of painful lumps, do I just leave them to go on their own?

Not sure I can touch them to express!

msbaublestwinkle · 04/12/2011 21:36

kristy dont leave them! They can cause mastitis, which you really don't want. So, for comfort, fridge cold savoy cabbage leaves will help. One down each bra cup (ain't motherhood glamorous!) until they look wilted, then change. Although it seems counter intuitive, expressing off just as much as you need to to feel comfortable should help you avoid blocked ducts/mastitis and your supply will still wind down gradually. Some women find it best to express in the shower as the warm water will encourage down any blocks.

Finally, look out for mastitis: red patches on your breasts combined with feeling flu-y and a fever. If you have mastitis symptoms, rest and a GP visit for antibiotics.

We had a great day, made bird feeders, tree decorations and a wreath for our front door at the workshops! The DDs loved seeing Father Christmas and had lots of fun with the storyteller who was doing winter stories from lots of cultures. I enjoyed the mulled cider!

kri5tycringle · 04/12/2011 21:47

Thank you! Hmm I hope I can get the hang of expressing! Shower tomorrow I think!

Mmm mulled cider!!

LittleMissHumbuggery · 04/12/2011 22:55

Sorry I've been a tad quiet the last few days folks. Having an emotional weekend. Pent up hormones and stress ganged up on me and I lost. Should have expected it really, but you know how it is when you ignore life:)

Anyway. Lots of pompommery for those who are fighting the squeezy fight with their bodies and the squidgy fight with their bundles.

Back to my usual facetious self in a few days.

fusam · 04/12/2011 23:24

LittleMiss Hope the pom poms help as a stress buster.

Sympathies to all those you are keen to get going. Maybe spend time doing one thing everyday you know won't be possible once the new baby arrives?? Extra long luxurious baths, a bit of yoga/meditation, mani/pedis? Slap me if that is not helpful though.

Knackering but good weekend here seem to have regained full mobility plus a lot of energy and also an overwhelming need to sort house like mopsy. Have booked a deep clean on tuesday and have done a lot of washing and tidying beforehand. Could be nesting but hope not, I am enjoying this lighter on my feet new me. I am sure I will be back tomorrow moaning and pissed of with pregnancy no doubt Hmm.

PludolphTheRedNosedReindeer · 05/12/2011 03:27

I like the tooth fairy conspiracy, aethelfleda. Has your DD not done this before, though? You said it wasn't her first tooth.

Poor cheep and seven, I hope your dethroned-older-sibling's sense of responsibility and showing off positively kicks in soon, so you can get a bit of rest from the negative behaviour. Sad That plan you have for Air sounds really good, cheep; let's hope it settles him!

Falalala, hope you are both feeling better (and that you recover at the same time, so you don't wear youeself out again, nursing DH before you give birth!)

Oh, Darcies, what crap fights to be having - not even important enough for so much aggro! Glad you got one bottled apology! Has he added another one to your maternity bag, too? Xmas Grin

mopsytop et. al, I've been swollen, too, though it's intermittent (e.g. nothing right now - this is 39+3)
BTW, that sounds more like nesting than a dirty house to me, too! Believe me, my house is always in need of cleaning (whose house isn't?), but I really only blitz it when (a) I've had enough, (b) guests are coming and (c) when I suddenly "notice" things - which is NOW! This weekend, I've rearranged the front hall, sorted out loads of filing, mopped the kitchen, done lots of sewing, written some Xmas cards, ironed, done loads and loads of laundry, changed beds, finally got DH to set up the spare bed after we swapped rooms (and then set up the spare room), etc., etc. This is not at all normal sort of behaviour for me! It hasn't felt compulsive, just productive, but there is no way this isn't nesting!
fusam, so you think it's natural to be cleaning, too, do you? Hmm Don't believe you!

After all, with all the aches and pains, why would any of us do other than the anti-nesting aethelfleda mentioned?! (good work!) My back was aching yesterday, with the cleaning, but we all managed a walk in the rain today, which was actually quite lovely. When we got back, I actually fell asleep on the floor when DH went to do some more work (he claims he's got 2 software releases this week - he works in a bank - and is trying to pressure me to put off our release - ahahaha. It may work, though. Despite a lot of abdominal struggling tonight - the reason I am up - nothing interesting has happened to me for a few days)

Re: stretch marks: for DS, I had lovely "petals" round my tummy button, and with this'un, I've got a red meteor belt over my Tropic of Cancer (north of my equator). I've used more cream for this pregnancy, but it doesn't seem to have done anything to prevent it. After all, this is skin under great pressure!

OiMistletoe · 05/12/2011 04:35

Ugh. Morning. Can't sleep, and trying to is making me have the most horrid thoughts/day dreams.
I'm booked in for another sweep at 13:15. Not looking forward to it at all. Whilst it was fine, i felt quite tender in the evening - but I'm not sure if that was the sweep, or just the baby being low.
Please let me go into labour before 1pm!!
So, what now... Do I go downstairs and read, or back to bed to try and sleep??? Am currently sat in the bathroom listening to the rain. Maybe i'll try to sleep again - at least it's warm there! Grrrr!

OiMistletoe · 05/12/2011 06:24

Apologies for the "me, me, me" negativity. It's not so easy following and then responding to the thread on an I-phone.
Tis still raining here. I'm still awake. I tried sleep again, but then gave in and came downstairs.
I'm hoping I'll get some energy to make me want to get up and about, maybe that'll help start things...
I forgot to mention that we finally heard from the solicitors on Friday. The people buying the house proposed a completion date of 12Dec. I.e. 10 days. ! Do you think it's possible to search for a house to rent, complete any paperwork, pack up a house, move, have a baby, complete with a stay in hospital (could be overnight, could be longer if GB is big and an emergency cs is needed) within 10 days? I said no. I explained the situation, and said that at this stage, maybe a completion date in the 1st wk of Jan would be preferable. -they'll get back to me.
I hope they say yes. Then I can get a Christmas tree. (it's very early for me, but I think some sparkly baubles would help stop me going stir crazy - especially if this rain won't stop!!!).
Me, me, me, me, me....!

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 05/12/2011 07:25

Morning Ladies

Plu yeah one bottle is already added Grin

Oi Hopefully your buyers will understand and agree to a jan date.

Slept on & off last night, what with getting up for a pee several times, back is still hurting and can't stand up straight because of the pressure. DP was unsure as to go into work, told him to go and any changes then I'd call and get him home.

Mmmmcheese · 05/12/2011 07:50

Hi everyone, sorry for the sleep troubles etc. We have a tv in our bedroom and when I can't sleep I put on my hypnobirthing CD which sends me to sleep without fail, I've actually never been able to listen to it without falling asleep! Always wake up at the end but by that time am all relaxed and can get back to sleep again. DH is relegated to the spare room at the moment.

I'm getting more and more uncomfortable and scared of this baby getting any bigger. My ribs are killing me. Managed to avoid stretch marks so far but with my luck will get a whole load the day before I give birth!

I have appointment with the consultant tomorrow to discuss induction/possible section. I'm really struggling over this as I would rather have a VB but concerned that with all my risk factors will end up with an emcs anyway, so wondering if I should push for an elcs in the first place. Very difficult as I think the consultant would agree to section if I feel strongly about it but as I am dithering unless I go in with a decision already made I think she will persuade me to go down the induction route. My head is all in a mess about it. If I go into labour today then I won't have to make the decision! Come on baby!

DS still has no sign of chicken pox though. I really want him to hurry up and get it so he's no longer infectious when DD is born. I can't face the idea of having to spend Christmas apart from DH and DS but its looking increasingly likely :(

Mmmmcheese · 05/12/2011 07:52

Sorry just realised the CD/TV thing only makes sense if you know that we can play music on our TV!

festivefiggy · 05/12/2011 08:36

EDD in 4 days and DH slept in the spare room last night as he came down with a cold throughout the day and he didn't want me to catch it well he needn't have bothered by 1am this morning it had taken hold now got a throat that feels like been gargling with razor blades. As much as I want baby out might have to ask him to hold on a few days totally sapped of energy now, got midwife at midday was going to beg for a sweep but will hold off now.

Oh and my skunk has IBS it's been under control for months and last night we had explosive poos everywhere and was up in the night checking on her good practice I know, but really don't fancy the vet bills and drama we had with her last year this week so have pumped her full of steroids and hoping it will settle down.

Need breakfast urgently will be back Grin
