gotmylittlelamb sorry to get the date wrong, please repost, there's my lesson learnt in trying to be organised. nope the line wasn't about you, twas a little theory some pals and I had (a sample of 6 pregnancies where if you had a line = girl, no line = boy), after predicting a friends baby would be a girl based on it, another friend (who has a boy & a girl) disproved it as she had no line with either. also on here, somewhere up thread, it was shown to be less than accurate, although I think generally more often right, not infallible. also since first posting I have had a faint line develop and am expecting a boy. what a long explanation - can't imagine how I'm holding down a job at the moment.

So pleased to hear that Sophia is thriving and hope there is success on the poo front soon. Two weeks old today, many congratulations. I bet you must be replaying a lot in your head today - it's great that DH and you are rallying. I remember my pal finding the daily trips up to the hospital tiring, especially post C-sect so as much support, appreciation and encouragement for each other as you can muster is wonderful. Go team lamby.

tostaky · 22/02/2012 22:19

Hello everybody!

sorry to have been MIA but ive been awfully busy!!
Congrats on having Sophia, Gotmylittlelamb!

nothing to report, life is a bit hectic as we have moved and currently organising the renovation work... i expect we will be all settled in our new flat in December... just not sure ow this is going o work with a newborn!

starting the 3rd trimester and i feel it is going to be a tiring one...
baby moves A LOT... which is scaring me... neither DS1 or DS2 was kicking that much and they are VERY active...
thenagain it is lovely to have little feet proding through my belly... so cute!!

good luck everyone

ps: i did think about the mumsnet haircut last year but i wanted a more "polished" look and went to the hairdresser... not sure why i go to HD because i always come back unhappy...

SirCharles · 23/02/2012 21:17

tosaky You can see FEET?! Woah. Not sure I am ready for that.... Gawd I am still in denial and we are now 27+5..... Deary me..at what point will I feel like a mum rather than a much more rounded version of a girl about town with long glossy swishy mane....?

Mikocat · 24/02/2012 10:16

Haha! For a minute you were talking about your own feet SirCharles, I certainly can't see mine! I'm thinking of treating myself to a pedicure on my birthday in a couple of weeks as DH, bless him, doesn't do the best job of cutting my toenails and I think he might be a tad busy to paint them for me too! :)

SirCharles · 24/02/2012 11:18

made me laugh mikocat. You should definitely get DH to send you off to have your hooves & claws treated.
I can still see my feet although cannot reach them comfortably to DH is very handy with the nail varnish but he is no good at treating the rest of the foot so I have had more pedicures in the last few months than I have ever had in my life! Luckily have found affordable places to go - the joy of not being in London at the moment.
There is one area I can no longer see though.... as I realised today in the shower when I thought about "a trim". I will have to either pretend "it" (what do people call it..... "my lady garden"? sounds a bit prissy!) no longer exists or find myself a therapist.

What I dont think I will be able to handle is if a baby hand or foot is visible under my skin.... i just dont think i am equipped to cope with it.... rather unkindly DH suggested there was too much padding on my stomach so unlikely to happen.... grrrrr. that boy is cruisin' for a bruisin'! (& if he keeps talking to me about cricket the likelihood will double!)

Yorky · 24/02/2012 11:26

Mmm, a pedicure sounds lush, just sitting there letting someone else do the work, and no contortions trying to reach my feet!
And yes, SirCharles, I strongly recommend you get your lady garden tended before Dday - still traumatised from not even thinking about it in pg 1 and poor DS having to fight his way out of an untended jungle like the handsome prince in sleeping beauty!
I can't recognise hands or feet - just random odd lumps!
And you have my sympathy regarding cricket conversation, I married DH to get away from it - Mum is an umpire so there's always some sport on TV there but DH isn't interested [v happy face]

mythical · 24/02/2012 11:27

i can see my feet too!

.. when i sit down. 30 weeks yesterday and i'm huge!

Wrigglebum · 24/02/2012 12:43

My feet will just have to suffer as I'm really ticklish and pedicures are NOT relaxing for me! DH offered to paint my toe nails for me, think painting the nursery has gone to his head Grin. Trimming the old bush is getting more difficult, sitting down and leaning back a bit is easiest (mmm, attractive). Electric shavers are my preferred method as less dangerous if you go wrong IYSWIM Smile. I'll have to be shaved for my CS so might go for a wax a few days before as I've heard waxing regrowth is better through the scar than stubble.

Well poor old DS was really suffering yesterday- he'd been so under the weather with a cold, seemed to be getting better and then yesterday had a horrible cough and a temperature. Poor boy had got a chest infection so having antibiotics for the first time in his life. They smell (and therefore must taste) gross so he needs a lot of bribery to take them, must keep lots of choc and sweets in until he's finished the course! All we did yesterday was curl up on the sofa and watch nick jr, baby was really wriggly and gave DS some lovely kicks! DS is so excited, keeps cuddling up to my tummy saying he loves the baby.

Got MIL coming this eve for the weekend, FIL prob not cowing as he has a nasty cold- so much around right now. Should mean we get a couple of lie ins over the weekend- yippee!

cupcakefairy · 24/02/2012 14:51

Lol wriggle I have really sensitive feet too but didn't even realise it til I got a pedicure before ds1 ..I kept involuntarily jerking my feet whenever she tried to do anything Grin eventually finished it with toenails a lovely coral colour then mw told me I had to take it off if I wanted to go in birthing pool! So I did.. & never got to use the pool anyway, bah! So won't bother with a pedi this time!! But yes to a wax.

dreamingofanallotment · 24/02/2012 17:21

Ohhhh, all this talk of pedicures makes me want to go and get someone to rub my achey feet! I can no longer see my feet either, glad I'm not alone! Bump seems to be just all out front at the minute, I look like I've swallowed a beach ball!

For lady garden (such an odd phrase!) trimming, I can recommend the wilkinsons bikini trimmer - it's got a razor on one end and then a shaver bit on the other end - about 7 quid from boots I think. Dead easy and you can do it without looking!

Lovely to hear more Sophia news Gotmylittlelamb - hope you've had some poo progress today!

I think I can see feet poking through my tummy too tostaky - sometimes I can see that its head is poking out of one side of my tum and then its feet prod me on the opposite side! Getting lots of pressure on my ribs at the moment which isn't so comfy! 30 weeks on Monday, eeek!

Wriggle your DS sounds very sweet cuddling up to your tum! Hope he feels better soon - and hope you get your lie ins too!

Basse · 24/02/2012 18:17

Ladies, your 'lady garden' stories had me in stiches, I am still laughing! Was thinking the other night whilst taking a bath, whether I might try to attack it, and decided not...images of poor little one fighting hrough a jungle will probably give me nighmares tonight so might have to revise position Grin

mythical · 24/02/2012 21:10

just got this link sent from someone.. all i can say is.. :O

tostaky · 24/02/2012 21:54

mythical - i have the "snort sucker".... Blush and i use it every day .... twice...(morning/eve). i think it is actually a great way of preventing bronchiolitis...

talking about pedicure etc friends and dp booked me a full spa day sometimes in april... i am clearly looking forward to it.... aahhhh an hour long massage.... relaxing in the jacuzzy... having my hands/feet done... cant wait!!

i think my bump is starting to be too big now.. im uncomfortable when i sit on the bed to read stories to the DSs... also i can no longer have them both on my lap.... :( might need to dig out my birthing ball soon

we are having 8 people and 8 kids on sunday so that is going to be fun but also very very tiring!! not sure if it was a good idea...

also, i should really get started on the potty training front with DS2, to get him used to the potty.. but tbh i just cant be bothered... and that is bothering me.... because if i cant be bothered for DS2, how "bothered" am i going to be aboutDS3??? there are already many thngs that dS2 is allowed to do that DS1 was never allowed... bad mummy.... :(

Yorky · 24/02/2012 22:04

Love the link mythical - I NEED a roller buggy! DS1 and I can have races Grin but watching DHs face as he read it was almost funnier than reading it myself!

mythical · 24/02/2012 22:12

i know, husband is still very much a novice in regards to baby stuff so i'm scared to show it to him in case he takes it seriously and starts buying pee-pee teepees or god knows what lol!

Harecare · 24/02/2012 22:16

Ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!!!!

By the way, is it not time for a new thread for the third trimester? When does it begin officially?

Newtothisstuff · 25/02/2012 09:32

Omg that link is hilarious !! Those giant hand things are pretty creepy.. I defo need a roller buggy haha

Basse · 25/02/2012 10:03

Love the Placenta Teddy Bear!!! Almost had DP throwing up into his coffee this morning Grin

SESthebrave · 25/02/2012 11:33

mythical - I agree that link is brilliant!!!

pampering - well a pedicure would be great. I must book one in for when my ML starts in a couple of months. As for tending to my lady garden, I'm living in ignorance if what I can't see but the thought of this one having to fight it's way out has made me wonder about a bit more than a trim!

I think I start 3rd trimester tomorrow - 27 weeks? I feel really behind some of you as I'm not due until 27th May.

I'm off on a Brighton MN meet up this afternoon. Went before Christmas and it was really good to meet some fellow MNers in person. Then tomorrow meeting up with my brother and his wife.

Hope you are all having good weekends :)

LittleSarah · 25/02/2012 16:57

Hello

Great link mythical, love the cuddle hands pillow, mad! And the pee bottle.... oh dear.

Not really thought much about the muff area but will no doubt give it a wee trim before the big day.

I have yet to see any hands or feet properly! Can't wait, I love all that stuff, weird but amazing I think. I remember my driving instructor saying she wanted to have a baby but freaked about the idea of something growing inside her. Can't imagine how she would deal with it all.

Hope ds gets better soon wriggle!

Just me and ds this weekend, dh off on stag weekend and dd at her dad's. Went to my uni open day about the midwifery course, wow it is competitive. 600 applying for 30 places! Oh dear. From what the guy said I think I have a fairly decent shot at at least making it to interview though. Although it is group interview which sounds scary!

Tonight I am off out for my friend's 30th and then back home tomorrow morning (in town at the moment) for some quiet time I hope!

mythical · 25/02/2012 19:10

i quite admire you guys for doing stuff! little one is SO active during the night i end up awake till 3 in the morning usually - then i wake up at 7, fall back asleep at 9 and wake up at 12! and by 8 o clock i'm shattered again! I can barely contemplate a trip down the supermaket, i'm THAT tired. luckily i'm on mat leave and it's my first so i don't have to worry about work or other children but i really don't know what i would do otherwise especially as i'm not even 31 weeks yet!!!

I'm starting antenatal classes this monday and got a growth scan on the 12th of march, looking forward to seeing little one again even if it's only an ultrasound!

dreamingofanallotment · 26/02/2012 08:56

That link is brilliant mythical! DH came into the lounge while I was reading it, and asked why I was smirking...so I had to show him! He was rather too keen on the roller buggy! Some of it is just mad though, those paper oven glove things for children to use in public toilets...oh dear!

I'm off to test drive a car this morning - I'm terrified for some reason. Need to man up I think! I have a 3 door Clio at the moment, and we're looking at a 5 door Audi A3, so much more practical, and the buggy will actually fit in the boot of the Audi which is always useful!

Happy Sunday everyone!

Mikocat · 27/02/2012 10:56

Hello all, hope you all had good weekends! We had a busy one, but hopefully it will all be worthwhile as we may fingers crossed have sorted out the house-move situation! We had an offer on our flat on Friday, which we have accepted and then on Saturday we viewed some rental properties in London and have put a holding deposit on 3-bed house, which we should be able to move into towards the end of March. So the great move South looks like it's very much 'on'. (DH has decided that I am like an eel or a salmon with my urge to return to the spawning grounds to have a baby!) :)

3 more days left at work, I will only be 31 weeks when I go on ML but I am so looking forward to it as the SPD is making life so difficult.

saggybaps · 27/02/2012 13:02

Hey girls, I'm back from hols. Prob wasn't the best idea booking a appt that we had no idea about (friend of a friend etc.) as wasn't suitable for the toddler at all. Plus the pool was out of action. Still nice to see some sunshine.

Mythical you sound just like me during my 1st pregnancy. Enjoy the sleeping and napping, it what ML is for.

Anyone have any iron-boosting remedies that don't bung you up? I've been told I'm low in iron (prob why so knackered) but ahem Blush my bowel habits have only just returned to normal, so don't want to upset the equilibrium.

SirCharles · 27/02/2012 13:39

saggy glad you enjoyed the sun - it does perk one up so imagine must have been amazing during the british winter.

re iron... have been researching the "non bunging" side of your question due to horrendous piles and have come across some recommendations/interesting links for you:
www.health.qld.gov.au/nutrition/resources/antenatal_iron.pdf
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/497855-how-to-treat-those-pesky-piles-constipation-and-indigestion/AllOnOnePage

basically my research suggests: meat, apricots, licorice, LOADS of water and daily swimming/walking.... supported by linseeds/flax seed oil and lactulose if it looks like it might become problematic.

Good luck!
