Oh yes, has anyone else been afflicted by The Line? I now have one...... From belly button down. V odd.

dreamingofanallotment · 01/02/2012 17:24

Hope the house move goes well knittymum. I really wish I could knit - I've tried to learn but my brain just doesn't get it! Will just have to sew plenty of things instead!

Hannahberry My bump has been feeling quite heavy by the end of the day - I'm a teacher of 5/6 year olds so on my feet quite a lot so that might have something to do with it. I know what you mean about skin being stretched too - sometimes I feel like it's going to pop....and I've still got 14 weeks to go! I find putting moisturiser on my tum when it's feeling really stretched seems to help.

SirCharles I now have The Line. But my baby is obviously upside down as mine goes from my tummy button up to the top of my bump... I appear to be getting the beginnings of one going down from my tummy button too so hopefully I'm not completely odd. I read somewhere on MN about someone's niece thinking that The Line was like a zip where the baby came out...if only!

Has anybody tried any pregnancy fitness DVDs? I have to stop going to my aqua natal classes soon as they clash with my NCT classes annoyingly - so I was looking to see if I could get something to do at home. I found a Davina one on Love Film so I'm going to try that (and at least I don't have to buy it first to try it out!)

LittleSarah · 01/02/2012 21:41

Hey all. Had a look at massive due in September thread today, so funny reading all the early pregnancy stuff again. Nausea and worries about miscarriage, what a relief to be so far on! (So much chat from so many women they were talking about splitting the group into two or three).

Going to see midwife tomorrow so will get measured and blood pressure check, nothing too exciting but still nice to tick off all the milestones. Plus can have a chat about the low lying placenta thing. Also getting new washing machine which is very exciting as have a rubbish old one with tiny drum that doesn't spin half the time and this new one (bigger, better) should make my day to day life easier.

dreaming - Oooh pregnancy fitness DVDs on lovefilm?? Never even thought of that, might have a wee look. The thing is I am not even managing to do my pregnancy yoga DVD much this time. Ds isn't really napping much during the day and impossible to do it when he is awake, when he's asleep I'm too worn out, pathetic!

SirCharles - No line here, have never had one before but I know it can be different every time so I'm keeping my eye open. Preggibellies sounds fun. One of the rubbish things about living in the countryside is that the choice of classes is soooo slim. I think there is one aquanatal in the whole of the Scottish Borders and pregnancy-wise that is it.

Knittymum - Nice to have you back! I have been a rubbish knitting mum recently. Knitted lovely shawl for ds last time but I am quilting at the moment (for my dd out of her old clothes and for me and dh, my cousin says she will make new baby a quilt). I am going to try and knit some smaller things at some point, hats and maybe a wee cardi and jumper.

Hannahberry - Not too heavy bump here, although definately seems bigger than last time. However I don't have to move around much, sit on my arse mostly Wink so I wouldn't feel it like you would.

Mikocat · 02/02/2012 10:22

All this talk of making things is making me even more impatient for my maternity leave to start! I want to make some stuff for the baby (sewing, I've never managed to master a second line of crochet) and just feel too knackered at the moment.

Pregnancy Fitness - DH bought me a Tara Lee Yoga Boxset, which I haven't attempted yet, I feel a bit guilty about this as it was a very thoughful gift.

Yorky · 02/02/2012 10:56

My making things atm is limited to hemming DS1's new school trousers!
And I don't feel guilty about not using my pg yoga dvd as it only cost £1 from a car boot!

Yesterday was a hard day - I seemed to get a ton of extra hormones from somewhere and didn't cope with anything well, bit better today but bizarrely tired after a not bad night. Really looking forward to chiropractor tomorrow

Hi ladies :)
hannah my bump definitely feels heavy with all the crouching down/getting up I seem to have to do at playgroups with ds!! I'm always huffing and puffing Grin I also have terrible stretch marks going down in lines from belly button from ds... I don't think they appeared until about 30 weeks with him so I'm dreading them getting even worse this time :( I used expensive Mama Mio cream all the way through 1st preg and didn't do a thing...I think I'm prob just genetically pre-disposed to them! Boo.

Sarah yes, lovely to be in the 2nd trimester...I really enjoy this stage of pregnancy, just loving every movement and not feeling too fed up yet like you get in the 3rd! My favourite bit of pregnancy is definitely just lying/sitting wwatching my bump and feeling all those little wriggles, so special. (Once it gets later on they become quite painful/uncomfortable, under the ribs etc...at this stage it's just nice!)

Welcome back knittymum so glad you feel able to post again. I've mc'd myself and it is so scary going through the next pregnancy and wanting to just get past the stage you were at before :( but glad all is ok with your dd. I learnt to knit while pg with ds and did him a blanket, hat, booties etc... have got halfway through a hat for this one but need to hurry up to get a blanket done too! (Wouldn't want it to feel left out!)

SirCharles I really loved our NCT classes... yes some of the stuff they say can be a bit Hmm but think it depends on the teacher you get... generally speaking NCT are known for being very militant about birth without intervention, and breastfeeding...one lady in our class was really annoyed about a video that was shown suggesting that if you have a c section you might not be able to breastfeed (it didn't say that explicitly but was implied) but if you're prepared for that kind of thing, and know your own thoughts/feelings about all that stuff I think it's a very good course. The main positive is meeting a ready-made support group who'll have a baby the same age as you. We were v lucky to get on really well with the couples in ours and I still meet up with them all the time.

re weight gain...4lbs more and I'll have put on 2 stone!! Shock Can't believe how fast it has climbed actually, dread to think what I'll weigh at 40 weeks!!

oltob · 02/02/2012 21:08

hello ladies, the AN thread had dropped off 'threads i'm on' & so much to catch up on.

bumps - mine was definitely at the uncomfortable stage yesterday, I thought it was because I was in tights and vest bump band, dress etc. after peeling back layers was shocked when I realised it was actually the top of the bump. I think possibly braxton H it was soooo tight, but I can't really remember what they felt like. It's eased off a bit today so good. I was a little disconcerted as I'd been uncomfortable all afternoon and dreading the third trimester aches starting already.

linea nigra - I have a theory, true for my sample of 6 pregnancies (mine & pals) that if you have a strong one = girl. So far mine only very weak and I'm expecting DS but not very scientific

fitness - I've signed up for a pregnancy yoga class, starts at end of Feb and quite excited to be doing something for the pippin and I, I loved it with DD so fingers crossed will still be able to make it down to the mat in another few weeks

nct - I would really recommend, vital to get a support network and lovely to share ups & downs with friends going through the same thing. the woman that took ours was fantastic and went through everything, all pain relief, EMCS, ever possibility for baby, including formula & bottles. I felt alot calmer after it too.

knitting - yep have started on some bunting for the pip. also a x-stitch, 11, yes 11 stitches so far, that only took me an hour last wk. It's all in the preparation Wink

health - so far my BP has stayed under control but I have a consultant appt at 28 wks to review, so fingers crossed it continues to behave. weight gain I put on just over a stone last time chk'd, would like to say all bump but the flapjacks might have something to do with it Blush

wishing you all well and a lovely w/end.

LadyMaybe · 03/02/2012 08:27

hello again!
I'm one of those to blame for a previously quiet thread (although I see you've been chatting a storm more recently). In my defence it is our main summer holiday time here, so I've been out and about quite a bit. And for my penance I have gone back through the thread and update the list with with as much scan detail and a few delivery details where people are starting to decide or discover more about their births!

I'm quite well - injecting insulin at night to counter gestational diabetes high blood sugars, and continuing to inject the clexane in the morning for the clotting issue. It's routine now, but I am starting to find it harder to find good places around my increasingly tight belly. MW assures me I won't poke through but just seeing what I'm doing it is getting tricky Smile

Ob is concerned that baby is still measuring big but I have my doubts 1) about her technique for measuring and assessing, and 2) how much is GD (seeing that is well controlled) and how much is genetic, seeing DH is tall and I'm above average.

One advantage of the GD diet is that I haven't gained any weight at all in the pregnancy - which means I've effectively lost about 8-10 kg but added a baby bump. I hope to keep eating like this post-baby and with a bit of luck get down to the 'ideal' BMI which should help ensure I don't develop diabetes later. Silver clouds and all that.

Don't know about the theory for 'the line' - I didn't get one at all in DS's pregnancy, and no sign this time either. But then my nipples don't seem to have darkened either and I'm generally very 'fair' skin tones (brown hair, but pale skin that tans only under duress). The lady in my book is blond but looks like she tans beautiful and her line is much more visible.

I'm feeling almost guilty for contemplating knitting something for this one - as I didn't take up knitting until DS was 6 months. I've taken up my 'eternity' blanket again instead. It was started as a project to help distract me after my first MC while ttc no.2, and has been put down and picked up through the intervening losses. It occurred to me that I'd reached viability and that seems to have triggered something within to let me pick up and push me to finish.

Right, my bra strap is suddenly feeling tight so going to loosen up then will post the list. And will then try to post more regularly so it's less mammoth and me me me from now on Grin

Chiropractor this am :) fingers crossed I come out walking less like a 50yr old!

Manic night last night. Dh started to plumb in new washing machine but a broken valve meant water spurting everywhere. I held spurting tube bit to sink (while bailing out of the window as water coming out so fast) while dh ran upstairs to turn off water at mains. Water did not go off. The bathroom water went off but the kitchen stuff still spraying like mad. (This blooming house is really weirdly plumbed and this is yet more proof. Great water and pressure downstairs but rubbish in the bathroom, slow and hot water runs out even though we should have it all the time. Plus some radiators upstairs go on of their own accord even when heating is off.) Anyway, can't find any other tap or valve to turn so had to do some twisting of spurting water tube to get leak down to drizzle for time being. Have phoned two local plumbers but got no response from either, ARGH.

No news from midwife yesterday, didn't even measure fundal height (I was hoping she would as I have done it myself and wanted to see if I was right) and I was too embarrassed to ask her to. She felt around and said everything had moved up as it should and HB/BP all fine.

cupcake - I'm beginning to wonder if I should be quite so keen to get to trimester 3, think I've been happy to think about getting there as it means my final scan (hopefully) which will (hopefully) confirm the placenta has moved/stretched and I can have a home birth. Now only eight weeks away!

ladymaybe - Great update and so jealous of your summer! Sooo cold here at the moment. Should turn heating off but can't bear to. Your eternity blanket sounds like a good project, my knitting has been up and down for both my kids. Dd had more bits (hats/jumpers and so on) and ds had shawl, I didn't have time to do much else! (Although dd did have lovely shawl knitted by my best friend's mum). Would like to do a simpler blanket for this one but will see how it all goes.

cupcakefairy · 03/02/2012 13:39

Hi ladies... quick tip from me, click on 'watch this thread' then it never falls off 'threads I'm watching' :)

sarah hope you can get a plumber out, sounds stressful! Confused

Hi ladymaybe and oltob good to see you posting again :)

LittleSarah · 03/02/2012 13:51

Re plumber - nearly spent £90 to find out where mains water valve is! Two local plumbers couldn't make it and a third was coming (£30 call out, £60 an hour), then the guy phoned to say he couldn't make it as had car probs. I phoned dh and he suddenly remembered one of our neighbours is a retired plumber! Popped along, he came and we found it within 10 mins! I cannot believe we were going to pay all that money before asking neighbours for help, numpties! Anyway, husband should be able to plumb in washing machine tonight now and all should be tickety boo!

waitingforalittlelamb · 03/02/2012 17:52

Hello ladies, was going to try and sneak back in as I haven't posted much, not been having the best time with this pregnancy but would appreciate advice -

Sorry to be a bit me, me, me but is anyone else still getting sick?? I rarely got any sickness in my first trimester but am now 26 weeks and have had 3 nights this week up and being sick, have been managing to keep some water down in the day so mw not too concerned but its really bringing me down. Had to leave work today because just so exhausted with no sleep and no food in me :(

Is it just me? Anyone have any ideas for things I could do? Should I be worrying? LO is moving a lot and I wondered if that or a growth spurt might have something to do with it, I do seem to have expanded rather a lot over the last 10 days....

halecromp · 03/02/2012 18:18

I am 27+1 and also still being sick. Really fed up now as when I am not throwing up I feel nauseous. I know it will be worth it when our little man is here but its draining and depressing x

waitingforalittlelamb · 03/02/2012 18:42

hiya halecromp sorry to hear your also having the sickness and nausea, but kind of glad to know its not just me. I know what you mean, I know it will be worth it in the end, just wasn't expecting it at the point.

knittymum · 03/02/2012 21:36

Thank you all for your welcome back messages, lovely to be in such a friendly forum!

I'm so sorry to hear about the continuing sickness, waiting and halecromp. I'm lucky that mine has passed, but I had a close friend during my 1st pregnancy who was ill right into her 3rd trimester. Her LO was absolutely fine and a good size after it all though.

Has anyone else been experiencing palpitations? At the moment I'm putting it down to a combination of being upduffed and the coming house move. I'm a worrier at the best of times, but the increased heartrate isn't really helping me relax! Plus we'll hear in March whether we've managed to get our eldest son into our first choice of high school, and I'm worried about what happens if he's not offered a place there. And we're trying to sell my MIL's house and clear it out (she died last summer), so it's all going on! Which is why I'm trying to calm myself and convince myself that once we've moved and we've heard about the high school it'll all calm down. LO is leaping about like an olympic hurdler most of the time, so I'm fairly certain she's ok.

LadyMaybe · 04/02/2012 09:41

Isn't that weird, I know lots of people think the injections must be crap (and the clexane one is...it hurts everytime) but I'm so used to it and it's over in a few seconds. Personally I feel really sorry for those with PGP/SPD as it seems as though once it kicks in, it's just ongoing and limiting pain and discomfort. I know how tetchy I get when I have an 'achy day', but they're usually just a few days while there's a growth spurt and then things settle down again.

Poor ladies who are suffering nausea and sickness too - whether it's come back or whether it's always been there - ugh. I HATED the nausea in the first 16 weeks and throwing up with a bump must be horrible.

Right now, my biggest moan is heartburn. It's every night now, sometimes starting from 3pm, sometimes it waits til after dinner. I am so very much regretting telling the gp I saw in my checkup last week that I didn't need anything other than gaviscon. I am defnitely going to ask for it when I see the MW week after next.

Knitty I'm sure several of the group were getting palpitations earlier - I get them every so often but tend to think of them as being related to high blood sugars. But I think the increased blood load at this stage can cause them. Worth raising in your next appt I would think though.

waitingforalittlelamb · 04/02/2012 11:29

Hi knitty that's good to know (although not sure how I'll cope if it carries on to the end :( ) hope your OK, I read something earlier about palpitations being a fairly normal symptom, probably worth mentioning though.

Newtothisstuff · 04/02/2012 14:53

Hey everyone... Hope you are all ok... 25 weeks now.. It's going quickish.. Tried to have a 4D last week but she wasn't playing ball.. She had her leg and arm in front of her face so we are going back next week to try again.. Little monkey already
I've developed spd again urgh I feel about 90 by late afternoon.. Really painful.. Any tips from any of you ??
I'm also feeling very grumpy today.. Sad snapping at DD the dog and DH they are all getting it.. Doesn't happen very often but today is one of those days Sad

Wrigglebum · 05/02/2012 07:46

Wow, lots to catch up on here!

I haven't got a linea nigra and didn't with DS at all, but then a friend with a boy had a really pronounced one. I'm dark haired and fair skinned so maybe it's because there isn't much pigment in my skin?

Hale and waiting my mum was sick for the whole pregnancy with my sister but with me the sickness stopped when she couldn't make her midwife appt and ran out of iron tablets. Turns out she wasn't tolerating the iron tablets, are you guys taking iron tablets or supplements with iron in? Might be worth trying those spatone sachets or iron rich foods instead if so but check with your doc or midwife first.

Luckily no heartburn here but boy has my appetite increased! I'd put on 9lbs until last week but seem to have put on 3lbs this week! This baby is certain to be bigger than DS was! With him I wasn't hungry and could barely eat all pregnancy, he is a fussy eater with very little appetite. Since I'm way more interested in food this time I'm hoping I'll get a good eater!

No SPD here but I do have sciatica. It's worst at night and I wake up through the night with a sore hip and leg. Got a midwife appt on Tuesday so I'll see if I can get referred to a physio. Had a pregnancy massage yesterday (amazing!) and that seems to have helped it quite a bit as I actually slept well last night.

New, jealous of you having a 4D scan, even if baby didn't play ball this time. DH would never agree to one and there's no way we could not find out the gender so we'll just have to wait three months to see this baby! Plus after we had to just pay £230 to replace one tyre after a side wall puncture we're watching the pennies a bit at the moment!

Going to pick up a crib today I got on eBay- £21 for a mothercare swinging crib and mattress. Never had a crib for DS, just the pram bit on the floor, but with the CS I don't want to be leaning down too far too much! Was worried we wouldn't be able to go with all the snow but it started raining last night and now it's about 3c here so roads should be ok.

Take care all xxx

Wrigglebum · 05/02/2012 07:52

Nearly forgot, getting tons of braxton hicks here, at least 15-20 times a day and often more! Not painful just a bit uncomfortable at times and the bump goes rock solid! I'm not worried as I was the same with DS, but nobody I speak to in RL has experienced them to the same degree!

How many of you lot are getting them, and is anyone getting as many as me? Any ideas why some people get loads and others none?

Newtothisstuff · 05/02/2012 08:49

I get loads Wriggle.. All day and night.. Like you just tightenings.. Sometimes really uncomfortable.. I got them with DD1 as well.. Have fun picking your crib up :-)

waitingforalittlelamb · 05/02/2012 11:49

wrigglebum I am actually, they gave me extra everything because of my BMI I think, have a MW appointment next week so will ask then, it's getting a little bit much, although so far today my breakfast has not reappeared. This is progress!! Hope this crib is fab.

No braxton hicks over here, just lots and lots of movement, I am still really small though. Hardly any bump yet :(
