Sorry for the new thread and crap name but i needed to start one oi how are you doing good luck xxx

I have fallen off the face of MN for a week or so and have loadsss to catch up on! I have been busy doing coursework and seriously nesting!!

PGP is awful, to the point of making me cry, finally got a pyshio app, but not for another 2 weeks :( doesnt seem much point. OH continues not to even attempt a massage if i ask and rolls his eyes.

Been having really bad shooting pains that take my breath away, but seems as though baby is head down (and very low) im guessing its a nerve he is on.

Very strange and TMI... but earlier (when i went to the toilet) i could feel what felt like the head bulging on the outside, through my lady garden lol... freaked me out!!

Good luck oi !! Fingers crossed

tye glad you took the sick advice!!

The main reason I'm going on about syringes is because of the tiny amounts of colostrum, like in pumps it will get lost in a bottle! The sucking reflex develops at around 35 weeks, so some babies born at 34 weeks can manage a bottle, others can't until 36/37 weeks. Not terribly helpful I know!

DarciesmumandBump2 · 09/11/2011 16:02

I've got some little breast milk pots are they okay or will syringes be better? If I use one, can I express milk every couple of hrs into 1 or do I have to use a different one each time I express?

cheeptrick · 09/11/2011 16:02

Good afternoon everyone Smile

I had my 36 week MW appointment today and my bp is up, the baby is huge and has no room to move, i have been tired and run down for a month now and i'm finding it hard to breath as the baby is so big. I have a growth scan tomoro and the midwife told me that the baby is so big that they may induce me tomoro and to take my labour bag with me to the appointment Shock

Its my mums 70th Birthday on Friday the 11th and DH has been saying that the baby will come on the 11/11/11 Shock

I guess i will just have to wait for the scan and see what the consultant thinks.

DarciesmumandBump2 · 09/11/2011 16:03

MsBuggy Thanks for being so helpful and sorry for all my questions x

Xiaoxiong · 09/11/2011 16:03

Thanks for the support everyone - it's so good to know that other women who are giving birth at the same time as me are supportive. You guys are the ones who will be having conversations with midwives and consultants and looking at the most up to date evidence - my parents' experiences are nearly 30 years out of date, and obviously my single lad about town little brother has not a clue. He couldn't even handle me telling him the example about how women used to be forced to give birth on their backs with their legs up in stirrups - that was considered "normal" and yet now that advice has changed (he started wailing "ew ew ew TMI") Grin

Ok off to do some loads of nappies - just did three driving theory practice tests and got 43, 45 and 47 out of 50 respectively so I think I should probably be fine tomorrow...just about. These hazard perception tests though - so fiddly!!

plupervert · 09/11/2011 16:13

WOW, cheeptrick - got that bag packed?! Good luck!

Tyelperion, your brother is being an arse, and deserves to get whatever fallout from your mother that he wasn't man enough to hold back from you. Perhaps once she stops giving you grief after this stand of yours, you could needle him about still being under her thumb - he deserves that!

P.S. Good luck with the test!

cheeptrick · 09/11/2011 16:18

Bag packed Grin

I feel fine now but i dont think i will sleep tonight and tomoro is going to be the longest morning ever as scan at 2.30pm.

Next time i post on here i may have a photo of Hope on my profile Shock

HoneyLovesCake · 09/11/2011 16:24

Tyel ditto to all the comments on your brother...what kind of family harmony could there possibly be if you allowed your mum to bully you in to giving in when you've made the best decision for you your DH & DC. Shock at his stupid comments, makes me so Angry

OiMissus · 09/11/2011 16:30

cheep do your best to relax and sleep now - you may need it! Good luck! How big is the baby? I posted earlier that at 35+6, my baby's est weight was 7lb2 - which sounds big to me, how big do you have to be before people start talking about inductions?!
tyel good luck with your test tomorrow.
Wink

hawthers · 09/11/2011 16:31

eek good luck cheep hope you are doing ok

msbuggywinkle · 09/11/2011 16:31

darcies don't worry about it. As you may have gathered I am a tiny bit obsessed! The pots would be fine, it is just a bit more faff. You can express a whole days worth into one pot, store in the fridge in between times then freeze in the evening.

cheep wow! Exciting and nerve wracking all in one I imagine! I hope it goes really well and quickly if you do get induced.

HoneyLovesCake · 09/11/2011 16:34

Wow cheep induction at 36wks that seems pretty extreme...could your dates have been off, why else would LO be so big? Confused Apart from raised BP what are their reasons for inducing? Is it very high? I hope you're ok. Remember that growth scans can be inaccurate by quite a lot. Good luck tomorrow.

Xiaoxiong · 09/11/2011 16:38

Goodness cheep, hope all is well and everything goes well tomorrow. And I love the name Hope.

Don't worry girls, I'll surely pass this theory test with all the good luck you've wished me. I want to make sure I'm not left out of any meet-up we may organise someday merely because I can't be chauffeured there by DH Wink

DarciesmumandBump2 · 09/11/2011 16:40

Best give the steriliser a wash and 1 round thru before I sterilise the pots. dP will nip to chemist for me and get some syringes.

Cheep Good luck for tomorrow :)

HoneyLovesCake · 09/11/2011 16:48

Just reread my post & sorry if that sounded negative cheep, didn't mean it to & I'm very excited for you I was just shocked. Didn't realise induction was even an option at 36wks due to size of baby.

mopsytop · 09/11/2011 16:53

Good luck cheep - try and get some sleep!

bennybenbear · 09/11/2011 17:34

Good luck Cheep!

An update on my work situation, had chat with line manager about my pelvic girdle pain etc and finishing a week earlier which wasn't at all awkward(!). Upside it that I got my own way so now only doing 3 days a week after this week and will prob finish last week Nov!! Really panicking things are coming round too quick now, need to get organised as don't have a hosp bag or anything!!

Also just wanted to say although i dont get chance to post v often the advice and discussions on here are sooooo valuable, thanks!

OiMissus · 09/11/2011 18:01

Nice one bbb - 3 days will be so much easier than 5.

LittleMissFlustered · 09/11/2011 18:01

cheep Hope you get some rest and that tomorrow is a good day:)

Tyel I think we need a birth-in going on in your digs. I hereby plonk my ample arse next to the computer and wave my placard about while muttering about it being a damn good thing that friends can be chosen, unlike familyWink

Long day today. The eldest is off to play with firemen tonight, so the bow and I are doing veg prep for some stoo while she's out:)

plupervert · 09/11/2011 18:04

Tyelperion, I don't know where you get off thinking you will be able to drive home from any meetup! We will all be sharing our favourite vodkas (vodki, if we want to be pedantic) and wines and beers!

Congrats on sorting out work with minimum fuss, bennybenbear. There's some stuff about hospital bag lists in the last thread, which I'll try to find in a moment....

mopsytop · 09/11/2011 18:07

God I'd love to go out and drink cocktails and get really tipsy. And wear a nice dress and makeup and not feel like a beached whale!

DarciesmumandBump2 · 09/11/2011 18:11

BBB Well done on sorting work out.

Vodka- nah Archers & Lemonade or shots of Apple Sourz sound much better Grin - although one of each and i'll be on the floor drunk lol Smile

plupervert · 09/11/2011 18:22

Okay, the hospital bag discussion starts on p. 39 of the thread before the thread before this one! Here.

As for drinks, we could do it like tapas, with all of us sharing our favourites, so no-one has to drink entire servings of anything. And no-one would suffer from something she is chemically unable to handle (like me and Chardonnay!)

DS has just been showing me how to do "Yogo" along with Waybuloo. He's getting quite good, and I've started wondering whether I should try to find a class to go to with him. It might be a bit odd to have a toddler in a "Mum and Baby" yoga class (where I think the "baby" participation is meant to be nothing more than presence, to avoid putting said baby in creche), but could be a bit of fun! Has anyone done anything like this?

DarciesmumandBump2 · 09/11/2011 18:26

Plu Drinks tapas sounds good Grin. There must be a mother & Toddler group near you? Do you have a sure start centre near you? check to what they have to offer in there.

plupervert · 09/11/2011 18:38

Re: Drinks tapas
Just had a giggle as I remembered the university custom of "doing the taps" (of the college bar. That amount of beer was just ghastly - and only one half-pint of cider to make it bearable! Spirits or wine would have been much better for me Grin.

So yes, we will all be very caring and sharing, won't we?!
