Hello :)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
dreamfeeder · 07/11/2011 19:10

dizzy's scan was 4:30, so maybe she just hasn't had a chance to update us yet!

I didn't get hold of a midwife. Debating driving to the mw drop-in tomorrow that's miles away if the mw isn't turning her mobile on again- also, it definitely wouldn't be my mw there Smile.

biscuits, it's definitely 13+6 for nt scan- I had 4 days to try and find somewhere to do one privately and pay for one- I failed!!!!

Yet again, I am on here quickly while trying to block my ears to the not-sleeping going on upstairs from Her Majesty

biscuits how did ds get on at nursery? Do you have 10,000 pairs of pants and trousers to wash or did he manage annoyingly well impeccably at nursery? Hope your birthday has been a relaxing day for you!

dreamfeeder · 07/11/2011 19:12

and anyway, just to clarify, I'm not in a total panic about the Braxton Hicks (after all, they can't do anything about them), I just want to know if them being this strong this early means I should really try and avoid provoking them as it's unusual, or whether I ignore them and carry on and accept it's just the way it is. It's work it'll affect most....

Biscuitsandtea · 07/11/2011 19:15

Thanks for all the birthday wishes.

And Dream I am sure you are having a much worse time at the moment - I am looking forward to DS being in bed very soon. At least then he'll have a nappy on! He did OK for most of the day at nursery but had a double whammy accident at the end, so when we got in I made him wait before I'd get him a snack or whatever while I tidied up the stuff from the accident (trying to teach consequences etc?). Anyway, as I'm there washing his bloody pooey pants out, he's doing another sodding poo stood right next to me. So we go to the bathroom, start cleaning that up. Run out of loo roll. Run upstairs to get some more, get back downstairs and he's bloody done a wee all over the floor, and the clothes that we'd just put on the floor ShockSad.

I am just at a loss with it all as I know he can do it, I just don't get why he won't. Makes me want to cry. A lot.

And I don't even think we could go back to nappies, because I know he is able to do it now - he is ready, but this is becoming more behavioural I think.

Enough of my potty training moaning. Sorry ladies.

As you were.

Biscuitsandtea · 07/11/2011 19:16

I think you're very wise to get those BH checked out Dream. For sure.

dreamfeeder · 07/11/2011 19:19

biscuits, I am exactly where you are with potty training but with sleep. You've done it for months child, please give me a break!!!! Specifically at bedtime, midnight (new favourite haunt) and 5am (my least favourite).... ARGH!
In fact, i'm switching back to phone because she's crying again.......

NinjaChipmunk · 07/11/2011 19:23

happy birthday biscuits have a lovely bunch of Thanks. I hope your ds got on ok today.

Great news on the scans jen and musical, I can't wait till I get a scan date through. Hope we hear from dizzy soon too.

dream I hope your dd starts to settle better in the evenings, illness can really knock it out of them I guess. Sounds like its nothing you've done from what you've described though. Must be so knackering for you all.

Only 6+3 here but my word i'm still so bloated. I shall be in maternity gear before I know it. Leggings and shift dresses are my only friends at the moment. Still can't quite believe after all these months i finally got my bfp. I've had a mid-january date come through for my next fertility clinic appointment so I look forward to being able to cancel that nearer the time!

NinjaChipmunk · 07/11/2011 19:30

biscuits I've not read it but have heard of a supposedly good potty training book called pooh goes to poohland. I bet if you post in behaviour/ development someone can help too.

pooh goes to poohland

DizzyKipper · 07/11/2011 20:28

Hi all,

Sorry but just a quick one as OH is needing to use the comp. All good at the scan, we got to see the little heartbeat! Our little one is also measuring just over 1cm now and they say is developing about right, so all good. Sorry I kept you in suspense, it's been a busy day!

Will catch up with you all Weds probs - busy work day again tomorrow. Smile

Biscuitsandtea · 07/11/2011 20:41

Great scan news Dizzy Smile

Very very pleasing news indeed Grin

Hope everyone is well, and that the Dream household is indeed dreamily quiet! Smile

dreamfeeder · 07/11/2011 21:01
dreamfeeder · 07/11/2011 21:02

Oh, mn ate the first part of my post, which said

Hooray dizzy, popped on to check your news, wonderful stuff Grin

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 07/11/2011 21:26

Congrats on all the scan news everyone! So glad all the little beans are doing so well!

Happy birthday Biscuits!

Yoga was more fun than expected, but my back is really hurting now so not sure if it's a good idea for me. Will see how I feel in the morning.

Soooooo can't wait for my scan on sat!!

By the way (super dumb newbie question alert) Dream how do BH differ from cramps?

dreamfeeder · 07/11/2011 22:15

Cramps are irregular and painful. BH are strong organised tightenings, still irregular though, so your uterus goes rock solid. so obviously lower part of the bump now. Palpable by someone else externally. Like Dh can feel mine. Normally you'd only get them strong enough to notice much later. Like last time for me, cycling uphill, putting in serious effort I'd get them (and stop/push my bike). Now I'm getting them with minimal exertion...

dreamfeeder · 07/11/2011 22:16

Sorry. Rubbish English and rubbish explanation. I'm very tired. I'll try again tomorrow, or someone else can add!

TheLittleFriend · 07/11/2011 22:18

Hope all you PSEPP are good. Reeeeeally hope I can join you soon.

dreamfeeder · 07/11/2011 22:29

Cramps are irregular and painful. BH are strong organised tightenings, still irregular though, so your uterus goes rock solid but not meant to be painful (mine were a bit painful right near the end with dd, and showed up on the trace very regularly as labour contractions- the doctors were debating whether I was in early labour after my waters broke but I pointed out I would have been for weeks by that point!!). so obviously lower part of the bump now. Palpable by someone else externally. Like Dh can feel mine. Normally you'd only get them strong enough to notice much later. Like last time for me, cycling uphill, putting in serious effort I'd get them (and stop/push my bike). Now I'm getting them with minimal exertion...

dreamfeeder · 07/11/2011 22:30

Err, why's my phone or mn gone mad!?!

Really hope you're here soon little

musicalmrs · 07/11/2011 22:47

Dream, you really ought to get them checked out in the morning :( It's probably a sign that you've been working too hard.. and maybe they'll write a note saying that you can't do some of the things you've been trying to do, meaning that people will have to alter your conditions at work to help you out..

Has anyone else used the nub theory on their 12wk scan photos? I just have, and DH and I both agreed that one looked like a girl - but that another could be either a girl or a boy. I'm now thinking it's pink, so that probably means it's blue! :D (I don't mind at all either way, as long as it's happy and healthy!).

Little, I'm sure you'll be pee stick endorsed soon! You're always welcome to pop in.. :)

fishcakefoxtrot · 07/11/2011 22:57

Lovely news, dizzy!

How many weeks will you be when you have your scan, Scream?

I am 17 weeks, I think, today which seems extraordinary. My bump is still small enough that people were surprised when I told them last week and assumed I must not be very far along.

I had a midwife appointment last week and my blood pressure was good and there was a lovely heartbeat. I saw a community midwife, who is not connected to the hospital where I will have the baby, and her attitude towards having another section was completely different to that of the hospital midwife and consultant- I definitely got the impression that she thought I should try for a VBAC and shouldn't assume I would have a section. She doesn't know anything of my history other than what is in my handheld notes!

Was it Meme who encountered a similar assumption that she would have a VBAC? If it was, have you decided whether or not to go for it?

I see I missed some buggy and sling chat! Just to add to it- I have a Bugaboo Chameleon, which I am going to get a buggy board for.

I noticed someone asking about the wrap slings that are a length of cloth you tie yourself. I used a Tricot-slen stretchy wrap for DD, which was brilliant. I got the hang of tying it fine once I had a demo from an experienced friend, and I found it really supportive. I used to wear it round the house as well as to the shops, while walking the dog etc. However, I think I got more use out a stretchy one than most people because DD is pretty small- once she got to a certain weight it wasn't supportive enough.

I am going to get a woven wrap this time because the stretchy is also pretty warm, which was fine for an autumn baby but not for an April one!

I also have an Ergo, which I love still and a Mei Tai. And a Baba sling for short journey hip carries. I like slings! They make going out, using public transport etc so much easier!

When are you graduating Wants and what from? I have a date for my PhD viva and have no idea what to wear! (Or what to do, but that is another matter...)

fishcakefoxtrot · 07/11/2011 22:58

Dream, while I remember you asked me about 100 years ago where our childminder got her monster 3-child pram from. She posted a wanted on gumtree! No idea what she paid for it, though.

scarletfingernail · 08/11/2011 08:34

I'm confident you'll be a permanent resident in here soon.

dream I hope you're getting your Braxton Hicks investigated today.

Good to see you back fishcake.

I hope you have a better day potty training today Biscuits. I'm dreading starting it. DS has shown a little interest and done a couple of wees on the potty, but if I try and get him to sit on the potty more than once a day he point blank refuses. So I'm putting it off a bit longer...

I have my 16 week mindwife appointment today. I feel much more positive than the last time I saw her (at 6 weeks) so I'm going to ask some questions today on what to expect from my consultant appointment at 20 weeks.

As I've been using my doppler successfully every morning I'm not even a tiny bit anxious about whether she'll find a heartbeat. It will just be nice to hear it "officially".

NinjaChipmunk · 08/11/2011 09:19

it's not that bad scarlet more frustrating than anything. We didn't bother with a potty but went straight to the toilet. We got one of those £5 tommy tippee plastic seats and a step stool. At least then what goes in the loo just gets flushed, I couldn't be bothered with cleaning a potty too! And again, if poohs are a problem, I guess you can try pooh goes to poohland. It seems to get recommended on here all the time.
Lovely to hear all this scan news.
Think me and ds will have a day of tidying and going to the library. Its a bit grim and damp to go anywhere else.

hawthers · 08/11/2011 09:49

DS does not seem to be too interested in the potty idea so might try the loo one next. am just letting him get on with things in his own time and not prompting him - is that a good plan or just a lazy mummy?

oh ninja do you mean the park with a kin at the end of it? if so i'm dead near there too!

Biscuitsandtea · 08/11/2011 09:51

Scarlet I have my consultant appt on Friday after my 20 week scan so will gladly share what happens. Although of course it will be different for each of us, I can certainly tell you what happens at mine.

Good luck with the mw today.

And, I sort of agree with Ninja - the potty training wasn't that bad, but we have had a sort of regression since Sunday, which has made me really stressed about it now. Am trying my best today though. So far we've had a wee in the toilet and a sticker as a reward (well, a star drawn on a piece of paper, since we are going to buy some stickers at the supermarket today!)

NinjaChipmunk · 08/11/2011 10:01

Aw biscuits he'll get there. You might need some good zen techniques on the way though!
hawthers will pm you.
