Last thread was full so thought I would just start this one off - hope you don't mind as I know I've not been a regular but god forbid you guys having nowhere to chat ;)

Right, caz what's happening, I am stalking you all over the shop and need more news :)

OP posts:

Oh dear, am sorry to read that somehow there's a little upset on the thread today. I didn't think that anyone had said anything that was meant to cause upset or harm but I'm not always the most astute with things like that. I honestly agree that opinions are generally posited well on here and I agree that having some level of difference and that we are able to share them here is a good thing, to me anyway. I can't imagine that people are malicious on here, can't say that about every thread.
Mama good luck if things are progressing!
Am very jealous of the birth date and all these ladies labouring and who will have their babies soon! A big shop hasn't seemed to cause any additional twinges and niggles. Just made me tired and realise exactly why I order shopping online!
Now, how quickly can I get sick of daytime telly? I reckon by Wednesday!

MamaALaMode · 31/10/2011 10:45

i just logged on again as snoozle kindly sent me a PM - no, i'm not saying i believe I was personally attacked - i'm saying i'm sad i've upset other people inadvertently, i also argue the case for pluralism in my post, but i'm simply think it's easiest for me to step away from a small issue that's upset juststarting when there are more important things we all wish to be concentrating on. i hate upsetting people (don't we all?) i just wanted to clarify myself & offer those offended my sincere apologies. x

BuffyFan · 31/10/2011 10:51

Well I've finally finished work so can sit and read through this thread (especially pleased as it looks as though, had I left it any longer, we'd be onto the next thread already and I've have missed a whole thread!). Sorry not to name check everybody but exciting to see that things really are starting to happen for many!

Hadak please get checked out. I'm being monitored for possible pre-eclampsia, so admit I am a little twitchy on the subject, but the MWs do keep asking me about swelling in face, hands and feet. It's really hard to tell if it's "different" swelling rather than "normal" swelling (I've had carpal tunnel syndrome in my hands, and slightly swollen feet and hands, for the last few months) so it's important to get check for the other signs that you might not be able to see - high blood pressure, protein in urine, and so on.

Having said all that, I realise it's easy to be paranoid. I spent a morning in triage last Wednesday being monitored, and my bloods and urine came back all clear. But ever since then I've been convincing myself that my slight indigestion = epigastric pain, and that having itchy eyes because I've spent too much time with my cat = distorted vision. Hoping to see MW again tomorrow so she can keep an eye on my BP (so far the only "symptom").

Ultimately it's left me with the feeling that I am really glad to have finished work! Last week felt like a week too many (I am 36+6 today) as I have been properly knackered for a good few weeks now. I really won't be surprised if my BP goes down just for not being at work any more!

Good luck everybody!! Hope you've got some sweeties in the house for trick-or-treaters tonight [hgrin]

knockedupagain · 31/10/2011 10:54

Lots to say, but in a dash, so will have to make do with quick namecheck, and do proper past later!

Congrats to TwoJacks, Hils and Snoozle!

Welcome to Coolsticks and Hadak... and welcome back to Folic, good to hear from you again!

Good luck to Gold and Kate and Stripey so many more babies on the way!

Hoping Connor stays put for now. Have too many things to do... not finished Chrimbo shopping, and DD1 has essay due I'd like to look over, and tests she could do with some help studying for. And my nether regions are in no shape for a vaginal delivery. TMI alert I went for a fanjo wax, and appear to have had an allergic reaction. Sore!!! Have to pour over pint glass of water as I pee as it's so stingy. And I have got piles. A Grade 4 pile no less (does that mean it can play the piano?... it's big enough!). That actually means it can't be pushed back in and may become thrombosed. I could cry. Can't sit, can't walk, can't carry any weight. Moan moan moan! Not due till 11th though, and always been late, so hopefully time to get all better first!

Staceroo · 31/10/2011 11:22

Awww man! Just deleted a real long post replying to everyone! Doh! Why doesn't ctrl+z work here!

Oh knockedup sounds like you are having a mare! :-( No advise to offer i'm afraid just sympathy!

Congratulations to the new arrivals and good luck to potential incommers!!! Fingers crossed for more good news, and love reading the birth stories! So so jealous as I feel so so ready now... I want my baby to come!!!

Just I agree with the point of your post 100%, and mama i did not at all read it in a way which seemed that it was directed as a gripe at your comments. Can we blame this on hormones!! Simple misunderstanding me thinks, and I hope you do keep us updated on your arrival! You've not been with us long, and would be very upsetting to think that we've upset you.

I may be speaking for others, but I don't think anyone was offended by your comments re your baby your choice as we do all seem to be well informed enough to make those decisions. As just said, it is those uninformed parents to whom this statement should not apply.

I think the fact that we are all on here seeking help, support and advise is an indicator that yes we are the best to make the decisions for "our" babies, but unfortunately that's not always the case - as just was pointing out.

I had a lovely week off last week - now in my final week of work - but working from home and just need to get what i can finished! Hoping I won't need to do a full week either because I get all finished or because baby comes along sooooon!!! (38+2)

Thought somehting was happening thurs and friday as BHs were now combined with cramps, but mw said this is just baby getting ready (as someone - possibly mama said last week). MW said the distinction between this and labour would be that the contractions will feel painful at the top of my bump, not down below as i was experiencing.

voodoomunkee · 31/10/2011 11:30

Mama maybe just see it as water under the bridge?
Knockedup ouch!! 3 pregnancies and I've never had that particular problem but I know plenty of people who have both pregnancy and non pregnancy related and I know just how awful it is and how much it affects people. Also don't have issues with waxing as I can't bring myself to wax down there! The combination must be agony.
Buffy rest up, I was shattered at that point at work too. Felt like a massive chore to even get to work never mind sit there for a full day!
Cleaned the windows, put the shopping away and had a hot chocolate. I need something to do!! Already polished and vacuumed and washed floors yesterday. Washer is on and no dishes.... Hmm.

Tjuice · 31/10/2011 11:47

voodoo - you want help me recover some dining chairs? paint some boxes? dye some blankets? God, I am knackered just thinking about it...
About to put some posters up. Then snooze.

PamSco · 31/10/2011 12:09

Hey all - hmmm I'm trying to think of a name for the latest minor upset - can't think of anything as snappy as the previous "primula-gate". If you can't name it let it go :)

Knockedup yikes, you are having a time of it :( hope you can cope for the next couple of weeks and I'll se you in the post-natal ward (if i'm on time).

I've done a whole week of cleaning here and the place is messier than it has ever been! How? Back up to the nursery room today so we can start painting and building furniture.

Just back from mw, The Boy is in the same position and same 2/5ths engaged as he was 4 weeks ago, hb 132. This makes me think he is comfortable - doesn't bode well for an on time delivery.

Still having naming issues here. If he was born on the 11/11/11 (due 12th) then we are naming him after his 2 great great uncles who fell at Ypres (Albert Robert). No idea if he is born on another day - Albert isn't high up the list but it would mean a lot for mil and the armistice connection.

bumpsnowjustplump · 31/10/2011 12:27

Morning all

I am still pregnant, i have never been this pregnant before... argh

I had a sweep thursday but nothing progressed from it. Am having tightenings but no more Sad!!

I had a growth scan at 37 weeks and baby was 8lb 6oz then so looking at being 9lb 12oz now. I have also had some bad news re. my polyhydramnios. They say that there could be a problem with baby and so as soon as she is born they need to put a tube down her throat and into her stomach to ensure there is no blockage. So there is something to look forward to NOT... I dont know what they will do if there is a blockage I need to ask that as I just panacked when they told me about the tube. They will also need to keep an eye on me as i may not contract properly after birth!! The level of fluid I have is 27cm and it should not be over 22cm. This is probably why she isn't going down into my pelvis as well as she cant fight her way past all the water! I have another sweep booked for Thursday but am really hoping things move before them as I am so uncomfortable as you can imagine carrying huge amounts of water on top of an extimated 9lb 12oz baby is not great!!

Apart from that we are all ready for her arrival and really looking forward to it..

Katiebeau · 31/10/2011 12:36

Bumps Sad I cant believe that's all they told you, not what the problem might be, what next etc. Talk about only drip feeding information (but if you don't want to know more then I take that back!). I'm sorry you have this worry. I hope it all goes really well.

knockedup dear goodness me, that brings tears to my eyes. I had a allergic reaction to my 1st bikini wax. NEVER done it since.........

40 weeks today - time to hit those fatty snacks and wait it out. Walk each day but that's it. I am done!!!!

cep · 31/10/2011 13:13

good luck to the ladies who are getting so near. Can't believe so many of us have given birth in Oct.

bump hope everything is ok.

knockedup oouch, have to admit i've never had my fanjo waxed, sounds to painful on it's own. I have got a very big pile though, which doesn't seem to want to go, and is rather painful. Sounds silly but how do you know the grade of it? I assume you saw the gp?

I have sorted my fanjo though, dh tidied up down there for me.

Must be off am taking ds to see Lion King. Hope all are ok.

voodoomunkee · 31/10/2011 13:18

Bumps, nowt like scaring you silly is there! Ask for more information. Hope all is ok. Dare I ask how the sweep was? I've got one booked and have never had one before. My mw won't do them before 41 weeks but booked me in at 40. I wish I thought there was a chance of persuading her at 39!

bumpsnowjustplump · 31/10/2011 13:46

Sweep was fine, I felt a period like pain when she was actually doing the sweep but that was about it. She did it at 39 weeks due to size etc. Not normally done till 40 weeks, but my mw is the same one I have had before so she knew both mine were born at 39 weeks.. this little monkey is hanging on in there though!!

They have scared me witless the last few days. Renal problems have been mentioned as has cord prolaps but I see someone else at the next appointment and they say no cant be that. I have no idea what has caused it and nor have they really so its just a case of wait till she is born and go from there... not great really.

voodoomunkee · 31/10/2011 14:14

Very un internet like hugs, must be awful :(

mashpot · 31/10/2011 16:21

Gosh, can't remember when I last posted and if I've said all the necessary congratulations! TwoJacks, Hils and Snoozle great news, well done all of you. So many babies!

Stripey and Mama best of luck for tomorrow. I look forward to hearing news of the first official November baby!

Truffkin my first day of maternity leave too. Its not been relaxing, the plumbers are still working on the bathroom so I have to limit how much I drink because I have to go to Sainsbury's to use the loo.

And I had a driving test and at last I passed! I'm so flipping pleased as I set myself the goal of passing before baby arrived and after failing a test recently I have passed in the nick of time!

But I hope I have a more relaxing day tomorrow anyway, the midwife is coming for my 38 week appointment. No signs of baby being close to making an appearance but that's fine for now as I'm not ready for it yet.

I am going to get organised this week and then go for some reflexology next week to try and start things moving.

Bump things sound difficult with you so hope things improve or baby gets on its way soon.

knockedup ouch! You've made me a bit nervous about my planned wax too!

Sorry probably others I wanted to say things to but can't remember. Stace, Pams and others, glad there are some hanging on into November with me!

voodoomunkee · 31/10/2011 16:27

Mash well done!!
I wonder where I could get reflexology or acupuncture..... Skint waiting for OH's 1st salary to come in so haven't really got spare cash but in the scheme of things it may be money well spent.

PamSco · 31/10/2011 16:47

Well done Mash! Excellent news on passing your test.

cep · 31/10/2011 18:04

mash well done on passing your test, especially at our size now, isn't easy to to look over shoulders etc.

lktoday5 · 31/10/2011 18:33

mash huge congrats. My reverse parking has gone to shit so I'm v impressed.

Anyone else think trick or treating may send them into labour?!! I've not got up and down this much in years and frankly some of those masks give me the heebies Blush

TwoJackRussellsandapumpkin · 31/10/2011 19:09

Mash big congrats on passing your test and as the others said, when your so pregnant too!!!

I havn't put the outside light on, so hoping we will be left alone this year re trick or treaters, tough if they do come, I dont have anything to give them anyway!!!!

Does anyone know what to do when the baby hiccups? He doesn't cry or look all that upset, but the whole of his poor little body seems move when he is hiccuping.

cep · 31/10/2011 19:51

lk it's typical, i moved down to be with dh in 2006 and i have never had any trick or treaters knock on the door until tonight, i didn't even get any sweets in. thankfully ds and i had been baking today so i gave them a cupcake each. then i remembered i had a pack of sweets in the cupboard so now have them out on standby and no more knocks (although that could have more to do with the fact i have now turned off all lights). Dh is working late tonight, ds just fell asleep on the sofa so i just had to try and lift him onto top bunk, (he basically got chucked i am really short) thankfully he just shuffled back and got comfy.

twojacks i wouldn't worry unless it looks like it's causing discomfort, bit coincidence though ds has been hiccuping allday just seems to suddenly start, but seem to take ages to stop and then they start again.

ds seemed to enjoy Lion King but was a bit scared in parts, his voice almost echoed round the cinema when simbas dad was lying there after being trampled, ds said "why isn't his daddy getting up" i almost cried, blasted hormones.

Staceroo · 31/10/2011 20:47

mash could not survive without my bathroom being 10 seconds away!!! Bless you going to Sainsburys!! Well dont on passing driving test! I've a self invoked driving ban at the minute, because i feel so useless its almost dangerous!!

No trick or treaters around here! Only had 2 little kids earlier on, but all quiet now as its peeing it down outside! Thankfully!

alicat10 · 31/10/2011 21:19

Well ladies, this is me logging off til there's baby news... have to be at hospital at 8am for CS which could happen anytime between 9-6 as far as I can tell (or I could get bumped). Doubt phone reception will be up to much so if I manage to post news on FB feel free to repeat it on here!

Will be looking forward to all the other baby news when I log back on.....

neverinamillionyears · 31/10/2011 21:22

sorry just have to add knockedup you made my bump really hurt when I read your comment about grade 4 piles playing piano, I laughed far to hard at that. ouch.

on another note, had a scan today as mw said baby was transverse, weeeeelll it isn't! As soon as registrar got hands on she confirmed baby is head down, all that worry about cs for nothing Grin. Baby measuring 6lb12oz at 36+2 so I am very happy (to now be heading for painful contractions etc etc, am I mad?) :)

Good luck to all impending births x

voodoomunkee · 31/10/2011 21:47

Good luck Ali! Hope you get in early and don't have a day of waiting! Looking forward to hearing another arrival.
I'm hacked off. Cannot get comfy :( I know it sounds a silly niggle but its driving me mad! Even when I eventually get to sleep i keep getting woken up by aches and twitches, even in my arms. Arrgghhh! My back is agony constantly. Tried a hot bath to ease it and no joy. Paracetamol is totally ineffective too. Sure the baby isn't quite as wriggly as usual.
