Last thread was full so thought I would just start this one off - hope you don't mind as I know I've not been a regular but god forbid you guys having nowhere to chat ;)

Right, caz what's happening, I am stalking you all over the shop and need more news :)

Caliphora · 20/10/2011 15:11

Well, it's going slow, contractions getting stronger and more frequent, but still irregular.

I actually started off myself at 4 am, but not strong enough to avoid the pessary.

Looks like we're in for a longish one.

TwoJackRussellsandapumpkin · 20/10/2011 15:37

Good to hear from you, Cali, just keeping thinking of the end result, it's going to be soooo worth it!!!!

PamSco · 20/10/2011 17:33

Good to hear from you Cali, imagine me as a distant invisible cheerleader :)

Come on contractions do your stuf :)

voodoo& H007* - same here - height was measured wrong at booking by 2cm. BMI incorrect. They won't change my notes and I'm not fighting fro it as I am still getting my way with care by just demanding patient centred decisions and not policy. I guess it is a but different where I am as until last week there was no MLU so no option.

juststarting · 20/10/2011 18:45

Congratulations Folic, well done.
And keep going Cali. We're all thinking of you.
Fear I may now be terminally tired. i just cannot foresee the possibility of feeling anything that might be described as health or vitality ever again. think I would like to spend 36 hours in a clean neat hotel room with movies and some kind of miraculous room service that keeps me feeling well fed but never sick/bloated/overfull etc etc while other people sort my life out for me back at home. I would come back to completed work at work and uni, a clean tidy home with appropriate storage solutions for DS and forthcoming DD, everythign set up and sorted and ready to go and the sudden and unexpected development of some kind of vaccination against all unpleasant viruses.
Sorry, just allowing my fantasy to run its course there. You know you're not at your best when your wildest fantasies pretty much involve bed. Alone.

Caliphora · 20/10/2011 19:09

Contractions regular at 5 minutes/1.5 duration but doing nothing :( Still at 2cm.

PMA Needed!

cookie9 · 20/10/2011 19:25

Sending you positive energy Cali. Hopefully things will speed up soon for you.

Juststarting sounds like you need a treat. Get your other half to get you some chocolate ... Well works for me.

Have let my dh out for drinks tonight as he won't get the chance once baby is here so giving myself mini manicure and scoffing chocolate orange. Err is does have orange in it so must be healthy!

neverinamillionyears · 20/10/2011 19:26

just you can come over to my house, not exactly a hotel but pretty peaceful at the moment.

cali pma sent in abundance to you. This is the bit I'd hate, just the waiting is so frustrating. Are you in pain?

Katiebeau · 20/10/2011 19:35

Ah Cali. I have been there too, and suddenly it all accelerated. Have you got this far on pessaries alone? If you have you've done bloody well!

I know induction is frustrating and very tiring. Try and nibble on energy food and drink. So tough going but the only thing to focus on is you are getting closer to seeing Sprout. Thinking about you and sending cervix opening vibes your way. Xx

voodoomunkee · 20/10/2011 20:10

Cali, sending lots of PMA and energy! Your doing great!
Sure sprout will be here soon! Dead exciting!
Im losing the plot. Thought as had to go on the hunt for jeans for my son tonight that would call in home see to the dog and stick the chicken in..... All of which I did. Only i forgot to turn the dial to turn on the heat.... Came in expecting a roast chicken and now am having to order pizza!!!

Caliphora · 20/10/2011 21:13

2nd pessary in. Exhausted. Eating peanut m&m's and breathing through it.

knockedupagain · 20/10/2011 21:16

Folic Congratulations! Doesn't sound like it was the easiest of births, but at least that's it over now, and you'll very soon be home with your son.

Cali Chin up! Hope things speed up for you, and you are hilding your baby soon!

Caz Lovely pics of Xander!

lk Hope you feel better soon!

Pam Thanks for taking over the card and messages. I was at the hospital having a scan today, and had to resist the temptation to get 'lost' and pop in to see Folic and her boy!

My scan showed that the placenta is high enough for them to be happy for me to have a vaginal birth. I'm quite relieved and am feeling chipper! They do want to induce me on my due date because of my anti kell antibodies. I'm tempted because:

  1. I am TOBP (this is an acronym medics use in notes - often to explain the reasoning behind a request for an ELCS. It stands for Tired Of Being Pregnant!). Would be lovely to have definite 'can't be longer than' date.
  1. I'm a little nervous of getting to hospital on my own - visions of taxis refusing me as waters have gone after I've called for one, or ambulance refusing as I'm not an emergency... and telling me to call a taxi! Induction would allow me to plan journey.
  1. My due date is 11/11/11, which would be a seriously cool birthday.

Against this is:

  1. I've had the antibodies since my transfusion following my first labour, and nobody felt the need to induce me on my next three labours. They all started spontaneously, proceeded normally, and went better than my first induced labour. I was 2 - 5 days past my EDD for them all. I seem to need a little longer to cook my babies than my EDD.
  1. No guarantee that induction wouldn't take more than 24 hours, so still missing out on seriously cool birthday, whilst having all the downsides of induction.

Connor is really really low, so this is probably academic - can't see me lasting another 3 weeks, let alone going over, but perhaps it is just wishful thinking!

Tjuice · 20/10/2011 21:39

Keep truckin' cali! Thinking of you!

I had a busy day, doing far too much lifting and stuff really. But have put together new bed for DD, then storage boxes for underneath. Then bought all kinds of cool vintage wallpaper bits, vintage fabric cushions, pom-poms, buttons and other crafty stuff. Tomorrow, me and the mad norwegian friend are going to blitz DD's rooms and make bed canopy, decoupage shelves, customize lightshades etc etc. Me - decoupage!
I hate crafty stuff but I am doing it for DD;)

I have often had the hotel room fantasy and probably will continue to ;) Its almost as good as my "won the lottery" fantasy. My fantasies used to involve sex funnily enough...

TerrysNo2 · 20/10/2011 22:39

Cali If you're reading, and you can, get up and go walking - up and down stairs if possible. It took me 4 hours of v painful contractions to get to 1cm, 2 hours of excruciatingly painful ctx to get to 4cm and then I was transferred to hospital as they thought I was in for the long haul but I walked to the ambulance, to the hospital and up and down the stairs myself, by the time they examined me 40 minutes later I was 10cm. So, if you can (and I know it might not be as I was laid on my back between 1-4cm screaming at DH and MW who were trying to get me to move) walk walk walk.

Good luck and sending lots of PMA your way!!! xxx

OP posts:
voodoomunkee · 20/10/2011 22:40

Agree re the walking! Easy for us to say though eh!

Katiebeau · 20/10/2011 23:29

Oh God I forgot about the hours spent walking up and down the hospital stairs!!!!

Major bowel explosion tonight (TMI Blush) and feeling like I have a period coming (back ache, thigh ache). I hope it's something worthwhile, not just feeling rubbish!!

38+3

lktoday5 · 21/10/2011 00:21

Cali were all rooting for you and sending as many good vibes out as we can. Smile

Merlioness · 21/10/2011 02:53

Cali thinking of you and sending you good vibes

KellyKettle · 21/10/2011 03:30

Katie that sounds very promising! You might be next on the October November thread!

Cali! Thinking of you. Hope it's all over now x

goldmaple · 21/10/2011 04:21

katie that sounds promising!

cali sending you positive vibes! Just remember that this is the closest you have ever been to holding and cuddling bubs! You will get through it! Hope you are holding bubs as I type this!

caz so glad to hear that all three of you are doing well. Xander is absolutely gorgeous!

Baby is engaged here. Doesn't mean so much but at least bubba is doing the right thing. We are all set for her arrival:)

37+2

Tjuice · 21/10/2011 06:19

katie - that sounds just like how my last labour started. I thought I had a tummy bug and kept walking around the city (was showing my FiL around). When I finally got to the hospital I was 4cm dilated.

I have been up since stupid o'clock, and I have a busy day today. Crap! I just want this nesting phase to be over! So I can relax.

Made this luscious 10 minute banana cake yesterday. No creaming of eggs and sugar - just bung it all in and cook. I added some nutmeg, ground ginger, used dark sticky brown sugar and a handful of chopped chocolate with caramelised almonds. Too good.

voodoomunkee · 21/10/2011 06:37

Crikey! Hope it does turn into more katie!
I'm off to hibernate til at least Jan as am clearly not even ready to give birth! I liked the thought process about being ready, not sure if I am as probably need some rest but mentally prepared I am.
Thank god it's Friday, need to be finished with work and Friday means have only got today and 4.5 days next week. Thank god!
Hope Cali is doing ok! x

KellyKettle · 21/10/2011 06:56

Yay to mat leave voodoo

Tjuice that bread looks lovely. I've bookmarked it for a later date,

Alls well here. DD2 is almost a week old. She was weighed yesterday and rather than losing any of her birth weight, she's gained. She's now 7lb 13oz.

I am still snuggled in bed with DD1s feet tucked under my left thigh and DD2 snuggled on my right arm, feeding.

Happy Friday everyone! x

voodoomunkee · 21/10/2011 07:06

Ah Kelly, you have just cheered me up a little! Made me think awww I'll have the new baby soon and all this crap will be behind me! Good to hear that dd2 is putting on weight as well.
I need a lot more sleep, think am knackered. OH doesn't start til 9 and I was going to drop him off on my way to work for 8.30 but am just too tired and feel like I may take 15 mins back off work and go slightly later. They get a lot off me and I have to keep reminding my boss I am 37+3!

TerrysNo2 · 21/10/2011 08:52

Pam are you celebrating something today?? Wink

Cali hope you are too busy with a baby to post!!

katie sounds promising, fx for you.

I was awake a little in the night (surprisingly slept really well the past 2 nights) with mild period pains, I keep thinking something is happening because I didn't get any of these feelings with DS (BH, back pains etc) but I think at night time everything is magnified so don't think (or really want!) anything to happen to anytime soon.

Tjuice I just bought some bananas yesterday, think I know what I am making now - thanks Grin
