Last thread was full so thought I would just start this one off - hope you don't mind as I know I've not been a regular but god forbid you guys having nowhere to chat ;)

Right, caz what's happening, I am stalking you all over the shop and need more news :)

Pam, you seem a little thrilled about something? Grin enjoy your day!
Came in 15 mins late for work and sensibly nobody raised an eyebrow! Good start!
I don't think I'll get many labour signs as I don't think mentally am prepared. I have had quite a few painful braxton hicks' last couple of nights but nothing significant. Would especially like it if I didn't have to go back and see my community midwife next week as I am not her biggest fan!

Katiebeau · 21/10/2011 08:59

Three cheers for maternity leave. A fantastic development, one thing to thank the EU for at least otherwise we would have the USA model.

I've been chased for info this morning by work for info I sent before I left. It's 8 30am, why would they think I have my work PC handy to forward an email on??????

All gone quiet here re birth signs except very sore tummy!! Sad Bad night last night. I can't remember the last time I slept for 6 or 7 solid hrs.

Kelly, sounds blissful. My DD is lovely when she comes into bed with us but she won't sleep, more a source of entertainment Grin

SnoozleDoozle · 21/10/2011 09:48

Morning everyone!

I'm starting to feel left out, what with all these babies arriving and all these threatened labours.....have had a few painful BHs over the past few days, but apart from that there is no sign of me going into labour. Feel like I might be manning this thread alone in a couple of weeks time, there will be none of you left!

Pam yay for maternity leave. Having said that though, my first couple of days off last week felt a bit stressful, I felt strangely down, couldn't perk myself up. Although that might have something to do with the work being done on my house and the fact that its kind of hard to relax under an inch of dust.....but like everything, you get used to it, don't you?

Positive thoughts going out to all those who think they might be heading for labour, and can't wait to hear about Cali.

voodoomunkee · 21/10/2011 10:09

Snoozle I think I'll still be here by at least my due date which is the 8th of Nov!

Hils74 · 21/10/2011 11:00

TerrysNo2 · 21/10/2011 11:25

Hi Girls - I'm 37+4. Due on 8th Nov - no.1 pregnancy.

Just been invited on here by Katiebeau after a big moan list on the normal pregnancy thread. Wish I'd have found you a few weeks ago!

stripeymummy · 21/10/2011 11:38

Morning everyone!

Can't wait to hear from cali, lots of PMA being sent your way :)

pam yay!!!!!

Right, this is when I have to admit to being a bit dim Blush but could someone please explain the 5ths engagement thing? I am currently 3/5ths, what does it mean? And do the nos get lower the further down the pelvis? I was 4/5ths 2 weeks ago.

I also started getting lower back pain, more obvious BH and hip pain last night, I just couldn't get comfy and was up and down to the loo like it was no ones business! I just put it down to the raspberry leaf tea I started yesterday (though only had 1 cup Hmm). I really really hope things don't start kicking off, she's NOT allowed to come until she's told. Will be keeping my legs firmly crossed this week :o

The anticipation is palpable on this thread, and very catching - starting to feel very excited now!!

Hope everyone has a good day xx

stripeymummy · 21/10/2011 11:39

x-posted - welcome franchini :)

come and have a good moan, get if off your chest x

voodoomunkee · 21/10/2011 11:45

Welcome franchini! You can be another due date buddy for me!
I've just had the urge to buy a lot of unnecessary food and cleaning stuff on my online shopping, stuff to make cakes (I don't like baking!) and casseroles.... Odd as am economising and have totally lost my appetite! Come on nesting! Haha

mashpot · 21/10/2011 11:46

Huge congrats Folic can't wait to hear more when you're all home.

Best of luck Cali I hope things are progressing well this morning. I can't believe how much action there is, there's still more than a week of October to go! It makes me nervous as I still have a week left in work! I have a weeks handover with my replacement next week so I am trying to withdraw a bit now, easier said than done...

I read through the notes from my trip to hospital this week and the baby is 1/5 engaged apparently which I'm excited about as at least it's heading the right way! I really want my 2 weeks off work before the baby arrives so I'm in no hurry for it to get here but still felt that was encouraging.

snooze I hear you on the house issues, our bathroom is being replaced next week and I really hope it is finished before I start mat leave. Even so there's quite a bit of painting etc to be finished but I don't want workmen round the house while I'm trying to enjoy my time off!

mashpot · 21/10/2011 11:51

Many x posts! Welcome franchini

Stripey the head will go from 1/5 engaged to 5/5 engaged. But my notes said 4/5 palpable, which means 1/5 engaged. Hope that makes sense!

stripeymummy · 21/10/2011 12:11

mash, ah that does make sense. Yes it says 'palp' after the 4/5ths, and nothing after the 3/5ths. So I'm 3/5ths engaged, and only 2 more 5ths to go?! Eek, over halfway then! Thank you :) x

Caliphora · 21/10/2011 12:52

So, Sprout was born Abigail Isis Marie this morning, at 9.04!
All doing well, no stitches etc despite being a good 8lbs 10oz!

Full story to follow!

Franchini · 21/10/2011 14:19

OOh well done Cali - and no stitches - how did you manage that? is sprout a girl or boy by the way?

Thanks for all the welcome's.

I am having a better day today - had a massive cry to hubby last night - the fact that I actually have to do childbirth actually hit me!!

TerrysNo2 · 21/10/2011 14:21

Congrats Cali Smile

MrsA and other homebirthers can you please read my other thread here, I am really really upset and confused now.

SnoozleDoozle · 21/10/2011 14:26

Congratulations Cali. I love the name Abigail....in fact when I think about it there are loads of the biblical names that I really love, they are so classic and timeless.

Franchini Where have you been? You've missed out on months of banter, good natured disagreements, less good natured (but still quite civilised!) disagreements, lovely hand holding, home renovations, cake recipes, job worries, no job worries, constipation, swollen ankles, insomnia, high points, heart breaking low points...I could go on, but I think you get the idea. Anyway, glad to have you here now, the more the merrier.

knockedupagain · 21/10/2011 14:45

Congrats Cali and welcome Abigail!

Welcome FranchiniSmile

Yay Pam! You're obviously going to really miss it!

Terrys I don't have anything useful to say, I'm afraid. It's such an individual decision. I will be much happier giving birth in the CLU in hospital, but that's just me! If HB was so very dangerous, no one would be encouraged to do it, so it sounds like scaremongering to me, but if it makes you feel unhappy about a HB, then perhaps it isn't right for you. Dunno really. Sorry! No help at all!

MooseyMoo · 21/10/2011 14:50

Congratulations Cali, lovely name. Rest, relax and enjoy that newborn. Then come and let us know your birth story Grin

Welcome Franchini better late than never!
