Congrats monkey!

wobbles how traumatic to have a fall, I am terrified of doing that. Is all ok?

cheshire any news?

emmazed how hard it must be, knowing you'd need a general if you have a CS. It's so hard to mentally prepare for labour as it is, let alone how hard it must be to know your options are restricted.

I've got no updates apart from more of the same pains and aches I've had for about 10 days now - they are getting worse but not contraction worse. My back is getting quite sore as well, but am trying not to get my hopes up about it being the kind of back pain that could be labour as it's the same pain as a back injury I had last year.

I have a lot of visitors in town at the moment, I posted a couple of weeks ago all stressed about how I felt under pressure to have baby in time so they could all meet him. bb3 just wanted to say you were right about some advice you gave me at the time - that I would feel happy having people around if I went over. Well you were right, I am really happy to have family around to distract me as things have gotten quite hard in the last few days and it's nice to have them spend time with me!

41 weeks today.

BB3 · 05/10/2011 22:25

Thanks Awen I will do. I'll pm you to get your details x Ds is only 2 and 5 months so an early starter at nursery but he is a late talker - still no excuse for scrutiny he's being faced with! Anyway!!

MamaMaiasaura · 05/10/2011 22:32

Bb3 - I've pm my details as no idea how to receive messages on phone app Smile

Penelope1980 · 05/10/2011 22:34

Congrats fleecy as well!

PenguinArmy · 05/10/2011 23:11

Congrats monkey and fleecy

Had GP today coz here they do the 38 week check up. I don't think they do many as he asked me what VBAC stood for, didn't write in my handheld notes. Asked if I was excited about hb, said wasn't bothered so he didn't do it. No idea if I'm engaged or not but did a prescription for more inhalers. Measuring 35cms now at 38+4 so caught up a bit. He was gobsmacked with my history that they didn't want to do a CS, which reassures me somewhat even though I'm not going straight for one.

DH doesn't need plaster or surgery and should be able to start lifting DD in a few weeks. Some kid pushed him off his bike as he cycled past Angry

Penelope1980 · 05/10/2011 23:21

penguin your DH got pushed off his bike? Was it malicious? My asthma is a bit worse than usual at present which is annoying, am just trying to remember to always take my preventative although my dr put me on such a low dose since getting pregnant it is def much less effective.

Wobbledoos · 05/10/2011 23:22

Rang labour ward tonight, they were concerned that I could still feel the pull in my belly where it twisted as I fell, so wanted me in for check.

So been and had trace, hb fine, had 4 massive contractions whilst on trace which had to proper breathe through... she called them irregular tightenings and examined me, said cervix very long thick high and tight, go home, nothing's happening, nor will it tonight, take some paracetomol and sleep...

My sister is a mw and doesn't believe on baby #5 my cervix is any of those things, particularly after my show on Monday... so she said just be prepared... like I wasn't already lol.

Come on Bertie, mummy got all excited for a bit there!

Thanks for the messages of support, lovely to read xxx

Wobbledoos · 05/10/2011 23:24

Felt a bit like as soon as she knew we were booked for home birth, she lost interest.

PenguinArmy · 05/10/2011 23:25

I didn't think there is any reason to lower the dosage due to pg though. After today seems GPs just aren't used to dealing with pg anymore.

yep pushed on purpose. Strange thing was he the was the much older kid, you would have thought it would be the other way round (younger kid trying to impress older ones)

PenguinArmy · 05/10/2011 23:27

well if you were fine it is in your best interest to be at home if you really the home birth? Maybe in a round about way she was thinking about the best for you?

BB3 · 06/10/2011 06:16

Morning all

If I could do a little dance I would -girls still snuffly but slept in Moses baskets virtually all night bar feeds and I must have got at least 6 hours sleep! Yay!!!

wobble glad lo is ok x

penguin Shock Shock Shock at being pushed off deliberately! What a horrible child to do that!!!

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 06/10/2011 06:22

Well still nothing in way of labour for me yet! Sad

Had a friend over today and got talking about all my craft/hamper ideas for Xmas which she seems to think I could make a decent amount of money on at Christmas craft fairs in her village, so I'm gonna start making them in bulk in preperation and take LO along with me if she eventually turns up.

Am quite excited about it but as a result I've been up all night making plans and getting supplies off eBay and can't switch brain off!!

Congrats to fleecy & monkey on ur new babies. Hope ur all doing well

Safariboots · 06/10/2011 06:26

Congratulations Fleecy Smile
I am booked in for CS next week so glad to hear yours went ok.

LittlePebble · 06/10/2011 07:21

Congrats Fleecy and Monkeybubbles Grin lovely names xx

BB3 - yay for 6 hours sleep!

PA Shock at DH being pushed off bike! I dont understand was it just random kids on street corner or does he know them?

Wobbles glad all is ok with LO.

Pene hope all starts moving for you soon!

Not a great nights sleep last night but trying out a bread maker we've been given today by DP's grandmother. Doesn't have a recipe book though so just had to try a basic one off google....fingers crossed we get a nice smell in a couple of hours - it's making funny noises right now Confused

I've got MW later but I know she won't do anything until your at least 41 weeks

39+4 COME ON LITTLE ONE!!!!

pinkpainter · 06/10/2011 10:54

Excellent news Monkey and Fleecy - more lovely names!! :)

Just been for my flu jab - was worried about whether it was the right thing to do so late on in my pregnancy but think it was for the best.

38 today!

meravigliosa · 06/10/2011 12:15

Congratulations fleecy and monkey

40 weeks today. Despite sweep last Friday and brown discharge and jelly since then, nothing doing. Dr who did sweep said cervix was already 1cm dilated, and nice and soft, but that was 6 days ago, and still nothing doing. Another sweep tomorrow, induction booked for next week.

Am feeling a bit guilty about induction being booked so early (will only be 40+6), but my spd is quite bad. Every now and then one of my hips just feels like it is stuck and not properly in its socket and I just can't move, so it will be a real relief to get baby out.

chocolatehobnobs · 06/10/2011 12:20

Congratulations fleecy and monkey on the new babes.
Something shocking has been happening here. Sorry if TMI - I have wet myself for the second time in 2 days. Sneezing! I have not wet myself since being about 4 years old. Quite horrific. Had to change the sheets and now clean sofa. Washing machine has broken and i have now had to take off the only clean comfortable trackie bums i possess. I am not impressed with this head in my pelvis and just pray that this isn't the end of my pelvic floor..... Thank god DH was out

MrsP81 · 06/10/2011 13:05

Congratulations monkey, sorry you didn?t get the birth you wanted but glad it all turned out well.

And congratulations fleecy as well!

Oh no wobble, hope you?re feeling ok now. I fell down the stairs at about 20 weeks, on my bum so no damage done but it does shake you up.

Hope DS gets better soon awen.

pebble I managed to do some freezer cooking yesterday but the house now absolutely stinks! In a nice way I suppose.

penguin your poor DH. I can?t believe that anyone would do that!

Yay for 6 hours sleep BB3!

I have just had my flu jab as well pinkpainter, my MW reassured me that it would have no ill effect on the baby and flu is not a good thing to have in late pregnancy so I agree its for the best. I can?t stop sweating now though, don?t know if that?s related or not.

I have the health visitor coming round any minute now, apparently round here they like to meet you before you have the baby. I?ve not heard of that before but wish me luck.

bilblio · 06/10/2011 13:21

Congratulations on the new babies Fleecy & Monkey both lovely names.

Monkey are you a Buffy fan?

Fleecy I've loved the name Genevieve since I was a teenager, but unfortunately it doesn't pass the "can it be bellowed down a beach in a Yorkshire accent?" test. :o

Chocolate sympathy with the pelvic floor. I've been wearing panty liners for weeks. Blush There's never been a huge amount thankfully, but I'm really glad but cough isn't as violent now!
It will get better after, just keep doing the exercises.

Edward very exciting news about the Christmas Hampers. My idea for a craft business went out the window when I realised what I was planning broke copyright... even though loads of people do it, every so often someone will get clamped down on and fined thousands.... so it's not worth it. Back to the drawing board for me.
With the Flylady stuff I skip most of it, but the thing that really works for me is the idea that you can do anything for 15 minutes. Usually it's just a corner of a room, or 1 cupboard, never the whole room. I usually get into it then and spend longer, if I really can't be bothered I stop, but at least I've made some impact in 15 minutes which makes me feel better.
Also things like 1 load of washing a day, and the 5 minute room rescues. This morning (well 11am) when I got up it took me 20 minutes to straighten up all the house, put some washing on & load the dishwasher. The house isn't clean, but it is at least presentable if someone drops in.
When the LO arrives 15 is likely to be all I can spare anyway. :o

BB3 Hurrah for sleeping babies! It makes sooooo much difference!

Wobble Pleased to hear you're both okay after your fall. I'm terrified of falling in this pregnancy, although in hindsight it did probably make things easier... if more painful last time.

emmazed Hope things work out for and you and you don't need a CS.

I felt really fluey and ill yesterday, spent most of yesterday morning sleeping, went to bed early and slept late today. I still feel drained but not quite as bad as I did. I don't know if I'm ill... or just very pregnant, or it could be the fact I've finished taking the strong steroids.
I was going to visit a friend but that's not the best idea. I'm going to sweep and mop downstairs, find a good film and crochet for the rest of the afternoon.

Phew! Epic post, that's what happens when you don't come online for a couple of days.

37+3

SconesForTea · 06/10/2011 13:59

Congratulations monkey and Fleecy! I am just starting to feel twinges of jealousy at all the births happening now.

37+5 so saying 38

SconesForTea · 06/10/2011 14:09

Somehow missed a load of posts Confused

Wobble glad all's ok. Is your LO going to be a boy and are you calling him Bertie for real? That's our boys name Smile I think it's so cute.

BB3 great news on the sleep. Glad the girls are better. Hope you're coping ok without DH. I still think you're amazing Grin

Pebble the first time I used my breadmaker I was a bit concerned at all the strange noises it makes Shock Eventually the lovely bread smell arrived! It took hours though!

chocolate Shock Shock How far along are you?

TallyBear · 06/10/2011 21:02

Well done Monkey and Fleecy.

Can anyone give some advice?
I was just shuffling along the sofa earlier when the very top of my bump hurt. It comes and goes now and if I push lightly into that area (about where his bum/hip is) it hurts a bit. Has anyone had this? It doesn't seem like it could be BH and I'm not sure if I should be worried. Certainly if it still hurts tomorrow I will call mw.

Actually, he's just shifted and I don't think it hurts so much anymore....hummm

CheshireDing · 06/10/2011 21:50

Will update in more detail later and read the bits I have missed on the thread but just to let you know Poppy Arabella was born at 9.21pm last night, titchy little 6lb, looks like a little mouse :)

MamaMaiasaura · 06/10/2011 22:16

CheshireDing Grin congratulations and welcome Poppy Arabella - beautiful name x

Tallybear - I think it could be bruising from your little pumpkin. I've had a few sore spots on my bump, generally from feet or bottom Smile

cassnstar · 06/10/2011 22:42

Hi I'm not a regular poster but have done recently a couple of times. I was hoping for a home pool birth but a couple of weeks ago I had a couple of trace sugar results in my urine samples. I was sent off for a GTT which was a nightmare because my MW told me to fast for 12 hours, in the end I fasted for 15 and was told by the hospital it should have been 8. They hadn't sent me any info either. Rubbish! So felt very ill half way through, dizzy wobbly headachey and generally teary. Nice in the middle of a hospital canteen! So the result that night was 4.7 fasting and 9.5 two hours later. So Glucose impairment not gestational diabetes. My community midwife told me I couldn't have a home birth and would be induced 2 weeks early. I was not happy to say the least, but have had an encouraging appointment since where hospital said they wouldn't induce me early, have been doing blood testing and switched to a low gi diet and none of my readings so far have been abnormal. Today we went for a sizing scan and guess what? All normal, apart from legs which are very long, but that's not surprising, we tend to grow long ones. I will keep blood testing until I see a consultant next week and then hope to be put back on the home list. Fingers crossed! Am 37 weeks now so taking the raspberry leaf tea, pineapple and evening primrose oil approach. Got a ball in too..... Third birth but it's been 12 years and they keep going on about how old I am (40) but I don't care! I've been hypnobirthing and have a doula with a pool and think I can handle it myself!!! Sorry for the long post, must go now, having a 'Not a Baby Shower' Evening tomorrow with my friends and need some zzzzzzzzzzzzz
