Newcastle for me. Aye.
Live smack bang in between the coast and the city centre. No fields near by but not too far to go... Sad

QueenFee · 16/10/2011 23:40

Ladies help me! I have just realised i'm going out with the girls next weekend, what on earth do I wear?

littlemonkeybix · 17/10/2011 00:25

queen I'm a casual girl anyway, so smart jeans (black for posher places) with a snazzy top always fits the bill for me. Then to boost it further, accessorise with shoes/bag/jewellery.

Where are you off to? Meal, club, lunch?? We can help more with more info Wink

Also, I can't advocate my new poncho enough!! Tesco, £14/£15, so if its outdoors, or to travel to and fro, grab one of them!!

Squiglettsmummy2bx · 17/10/2011 06:56

A quick hello before I jump up & make the little peoples breakfast & some for me too coz I'm starving Grin
Have a good day ladies x

InnocentRedhead · 17/10/2011 07:46

QueenFee Try New Look, they have a fab range of maternity dresses in their range. A great whole maternity range in fact. It is the only shop near me that stocks gorgeous maternity clothes at an affordable price. Only if you are lucky enough to have a larger shop near you

melliebobs · 17/10/2011 08:14

I'm finding clothes shoppin a bloody nightmare. I have a wedding 2nd weekend in november and a 30th last week of November then work Xmas do 2nd week december. I also have a wedding 5 weeks after my due date so :s This weekend I went for a browse and new look only consisted of 2 styles of jeans and some sloganed tshirts rammed in a corner with the 9-15 stuff. H&M had a pair or yoga pants [hmmm] Top shop nada, next nada, m&s well less said about that the better, dotty p's nothing, primarni well that place is a nightmare at the best of times. Most clothes can be found on the floor!

Hate shopping online cos i don't know what size I am. Postage is phenomenal and then it's the hassle of returns. So any ideas will be gratefully received!

phlossie · 17/10/2011 10:31

Thanks for your town mouse/country mouse comments, everyone. Louby you totally summed it up for me, particularly "When we're at home we like just being here pottering about, whereas in Bristol we were always out doing something." I had the same kind of upbringing as you, and I think that's what I want. Did you say you were in Gloucestershire? I was born there (Stroud, lived in Stonehouse) and then moved to Street in Somerset. We'd go Somerset way because that's where we have friends and family. My DH is a Laaaandoner, so I think he finds it harder to imagine being away from the city.

Hmmmmm, shopping... that's where being in a city is plus! Try Dorothy Perkins? Also fairly nice stuff in Jo Jo Maman Bebe. I have a couple of non-maternity things that will do me - long tops and leggings are good. And I have found some great stuff in charity shops. Ebay's good too. I only have 4 months left of what I plan on being my last pregnancy (boo), so there's no way I'm spending much on maternity wear!

Hope you're all having a nice day!

littlemonkeybix · 17/10/2011 10:53

Well... I have just procrastinated well! I totted up from our stats thread!!

6 Boys
11 Girls
13 Surprises
10 yet to scan
1 possible girl, scan inconclusive

Grin

My scan is at 4pm today.... hoping to keep to the surprise side of things, but who knows!!

Birthday has started reasonable. Couldnt get to sleep... pip kicking me in the cervix frequently last night... woke up early, and couldnt get back to sleep. Nodded off again finally, and was promptly late for work. PLUS it's the 1st birthday I have ever worked!! Sad but I do get maternity time for going to appointments, and I'd rather use work time than my own, as they have a habit of making me wait for HOURS in the hospital!!

Roll on 2:45 (leaving work) then 4pm (SCAN! YYYYAAAAYYYY) then home time for dirty KFC, cake and PRESSIES!! Grin

Hope you are all well xx

melliebobs · 17/10/2011 11:49

Happy birthday monkey hope you have a great day, even though you are at work :( Boooo but a scan AND KFC is something to look forward to according to DH (i'm not a fan it always makes me ill :()

babycarmen · 17/10/2011 12:09

Happy birthday monkey :) How lovely to be getting a scan today Grin

So funny seeing DPs face last night when he was watching my bump.. baby was dancing like crazy and pushing and kicking bit of my tummy out..looked very freaky but i love this stage Grin He had great fun playing 'games' with baby pressing on one bit of my belly so baby would kick back. Cuteness!

Sooo excited about our sexing scan i just want to know so i can SHOP! And then we will have to discuss names ughhhh. 2 weeks to go! Midwife on wednesday for a check up.

Anyone else get cramps in their calfs and ankles when standing up for a while?

24+0 - !!!!

littlemonkeybix · 17/10/2011 12:10

I am the Colonel's bitch I am afraid... some have even suggested I am only with DP as he will grow into the Colonel (he has a little beard, imperial and moustach combo!)

AND swoon I have just had a birthday tweet off... ALEXANDER ARMSTRONG!

My day will be the best EVER (except work - bah, can't win 'em all)

monkey struggles to concentrate one jot in work ALL day

littlemonkeybix · 17/10/2011 13:05

GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

Just had a lovely little surprise gift from the chaps at work!

Bunch of flowers, some ginger beer (as the real deal is out) and stacks of chocolate!!!

GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

I also appear to have hijacked the thread.... must get some dagnamit work done!!!

20+2/21+2 SCAN DAY

EsmeWeatherwax · 17/10/2011 13:31

monkey nah...no working on you're birthday and scan day, far too much excitement to concentrate! I am envying you kfc, can't beat a wicked zinger meal, lol, think they put something addictive in the hot wings!

I typed a huge big post yesterday then immediately lost it cos the site went down, so hello to everyone else, I've forgotten what personals I had done! Pregnancy brain...

I went shopping for blue clothes yesterday, much to the bafflement of dd1...but mummy, why are you buying blue clothes, when we are having a new wee sister? Think she's in for a bit of a shock.

I got three bin bags full of 3-6 months stuff off a friend too, so thats that sorted! Lots of nice wee 0-3 bits and bobs in Sainsburys, sale on! I have a complete obsession with dungarees I think!

The boy is already named here, is going to be Thomas Alexander Ian. It's a mixture of family names, fortunately I love them all anyway.

littlemonkeybix · 17/10/2011 13:44

Esme If our pip is a bluey, he'll be Thomas Stanley William. That' my dad, DP dad and DP middle Grin

I have always wanted a Thomas Smile so I am thinking boy thoughts!! Absolutely not bothered either way though. If we get a pinky, then we'll have a Lily Smile which I am not 100% behind, but don't mind so it's OK. I get boy pick, DP gets girl pick. It could have been worse!!! Wink

still failing to be quite the work horse

littlemonkeybix · 17/10/2011 13:46

ooh also... we will both be wicked zinger tower meal-ing later... with gravy [fat bottom emoticon] [satisfied and smug emoticon] Wink

phlossie · 17/10/2011 14:05

You're making me laugh today, monkey! Very excitable - and quite right! I love that you're still as excited as I am about birthdays. Did you say you're 32 today? Same age as me. 1979 girls! I worked for the first time ever on my birthday last year. It's rubbish!

There are lots of girls! I hope that doesn't mean because of statistics that I'll get a boy, because as much as I'd love another son, atm his name would be Voldemort Merlin Rocky. Seriously had it up to here with talking about boys' names!

My baby's having a chilled day today. Not so much kicking as usual, although it was doing some very weird grinding thing near my bladder!

Argh! DH has eaten all the sweets I bought for Hallow'een. Is nothing safe round here???

melliebobs · 17/10/2011 15:15

Right I've had enough

Thursday 8th December pip is getting outed at a 4d scan. Ha haaaaa

notcitrus · 17/10/2011 15:27

Londoner here - I like the country too, but it's got to be either city or country - I detest small town suburbia (I grew up somewhere just like Harry Potter's Little Whinging). A lot of people assumed we'd want to move out of London when ds approached school age but no - we have the common, woodland and playground within five minutes walk, as well as supermarkets, GP, schools... Besides, we've spent nearly 6 years doing up our near-derelict house and now it's getting to the fun decorating bits we're certainly staying put!

Anyone else in London/southeast?

Finally bought some bits for Squirmlet this weekend. And touch wood, feeling less wrecked (apart from pelvis falling apart). :)

CoffeeOne · 17/10/2011 15:44

Mellie - glad you had a good holiday! Sounds fab! Very excited about your 4d scan, I would have done the same. In fact, I'm considering one anyway later on, where are you going? Apparently there's one on Winkley Square.

Littlemonkey - happy birthday! Good luck for your scan! Well jello of your KFC Grin

Babycarmen - how lovely to see the movements on the outside! I can't wait!

Esme - lovely name :)

Phlossie - dammit, Voldemort Merlin Rocky was our baby's name Grin

I have an extreme case of CBA. I don't want to complain because I'm having a happy healthy pregnancy but I just can not be arsed with work and people and stuff! I just want to stay on my couch eating biscuits until baby arrives!

Hi everyone sorry I've not been around its been a house full of sickness but seems to be clearing now (fingers crossed). Pleased to hear everyone is doing well and most if not all of us are feeling the little kicks.

Happy Birthday Monkey hope you have a great one.

Well I had my scan last week and everything is looking as should be and we are still on team yellow, although baby wouldn't play ball for a picture as was hiding its head by my hip with its back to my belly button, although we got a picture in the end its not the best and me and DP are arguing over if baby looks like Bambi or Brain from Pinky and the Brain. Poor wee bugger already has my turned up nose too, Sad oh and there seems to be a bear shadow in the background (have put on profile).

We are nearly there with names...No idea how but we seem to agree on them this time, normally I get final pick because I bug DP so much until he gives in. For a girl we have Amelia Romily (or a variation of Amelia/Emelia) or Alannah Rowan (My fav I think, but I hate how people pronounce Rowan here so cant use for first name). If we have a boy then he may be a Roary but I'm not 100% sold on it. I love Reggie but already have an Isla-Rae and Aiden and it just doesn't go. Oh well if we have a girl MIL wont be happy because she wants a R name so all our initials spell my DP name.

Sorry for long me me me post.

Sugar80 · 17/10/2011 16:27

Happy Birthday monkey... ooh, you'll be in your scan now!!

Clothes wise, I bought a pair of really black skinny jeans from Gap - not cheap, but comfy, good quality, and I'm planning on them seeing me through Christmas with a nice top and heels.

21+1

melliebobs · 17/10/2011 16:37

Hey coffee I'm going to Take A Peek in st Helens £65 and you can get a disc with photos for £20 and if the positions isn't good u can go back for free another day. I've had a few friends go there so going off recommendation. The one on Winkly Square is baby bond and was £120! There's also one in deepdale too but that was £90 and then if I remember right they were charging an extra £20 to sex it!!!! Which is the main thing we want really!

Just told dh that it's 1st week dec an his response was 'thats ages off and then it's only 10 weeks till u find out n e way' bloomin cheek!!!

QueenFee · 17/10/2011 17:50

Happy birthday Monkey!
I poas on my 30th this year! Fab birthday pressie!

We do seem to have a lot of girls! Maybe I should concentrate more on finding a boys name. I really like Ioan but not sure how non welsh speakers would pronounce it. How would you say it?

I am going to weatherspoons followed by kareoke night at the local, however we often end up at a club after so need to dress up a bit. Hmm think I need to hunt for a nice top to wear with leggings and heels!

I am seriously tempted to buy something for bubs but I am resisting as I have so much stuff already. Very jealous of you 1st timers!

ZhenXiang · 17/10/2011 18:25

Hello everyone and happy birthday monkey! Hope your scan went well :)

Been away in Dorset having a well deserved break in a caravan and taking in the last of the sunny weather.

Haven't had time to catch up yet so congrats on scans to all who have had them since I last checked thread.

Will be off thread for a while soon as moving house in the next week so no internet for a while :(

I am 21 weeks today and those ligaments are really stretching, felt one go ping today after walking for ages so it gave me the perfect excuse to sit down and eat chocolate for a while :)
