Ladies, our previous thread was getting full so here is a lovely new shiny home for us all.

I've put some comfy cushions around and plenty of pregnancy safe snacks and drinks. The Segway park is in the corner over there next to the stack of glittery vom buckets (plenty of extra buckets too for all the newbies).

In the corner over here you'll find our library of leaflets including sections on early pregnancy private scan clinics, pushchairs and car seats.

Hope you all like it very much :)

Hang on, am now really confused. The midwife said I had an anterior placenta (that was also a bit low-lying). She also wrote it in my notes so I couldn't have misheard. I said "Oh, that means it's on the front, doesn't it?" She said "No, at the back". I have just Googled and I'm sure it does mean at the front - www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/complications/anteriorplacentaexpert/. Wonder if I should be concerned that the midwives don't know what they're talking about? She wasn't my usual midwife but she was at the hospital where I plan to have the baby!

Purplebuns · 20/09/2011 17:25

EPAU are not happy places to be, however you got a fantastic result and you can now forget about it.

I saw a post by Aubers again just earlier, I wonder why she has stopped posting?

Purplebuns · 20/09/2011 17:27

Weird Confused Love they will check properly at 20 weeks though and they can move these placentas.

LoveInAColdClimate · 20/09/2011 17:29

Yes, am hoping it gets shoved up a bit as the baby gets bigger having unwisely Googled placenta praevia!

farfallarocks · 20/09/2011 17:40

love so relieved for you!

music everything crossed for you!

Biscuitsandtea · 20/09/2011 17:55

So pleased and relieved for you Love.

Keeping everything crossed for you Musical but at least everything is as positive as it can be at this stage. Will be brooking for you over the next fortnight until they can do the next scan xx

Glad to hear the scans went well. Music you just keep going up and up, there must be twins in there!

LoveInAColdClimate · 20/09/2011 18:14

I am genuinely starting to think "twins" for Musical too! How would you feel about it, Musical?

pommedechocolat · 20/09/2011 18:57

I'm sure statistically we should have a set of twins on the thread too...

musicalmrs · 20/09/2011 19:09

I'd be incredibly excited about twins! Also incredibly worried and scared.. then again, I feel the same way about a single baby. It would explain why I'm incredibly bloated, incredibly hungry, and why I'm experiencing so much cramping on and off.

Either way, my current aim is to survive the next two weeks, hit all my work deadlines, and with as little bleeding as possible. And, when there is bleeding and/or cramping, to chill out and not panic, unless it gets substantially worse.

Then again, would twins be noticeable on a scan at this stage..? Nothing of that ilk was mentioned... then again, there wasn't much to see, which might have made it harder to tell...

MeconiumHappens · 20/09/2011 19:21

Great news love & musicalmrs :)

telling the parents was fun, the cards went down really well, the mums were very excited! My mum is already talking about buying wool to knit blankets and stuff. They then had a debate about who would be called what, who would babysit on what days when i went back to work, etc etc, it was mad but cute all the same.
Also had my booking appt yesterday with my buddy who is my midwife :)
And went and saw the dentist and had to put 'pregnant' on the form :)

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 20/09/2011 19:49

Just a quick note to say how thrilled I am with Love and Musical's scans. Obviously it's still early days for Musical but it seems like so far you've had the best outcome possible at this stage, and we will all be keeping up the No Brooking!

I've personally had a horrific day in the office (including being yelled and sworn at by a junior who works on my team, this was his response to receiving constructive feedback - I work for a huge global financial firm and the fact that he's even allowed in the building is a source of continual amazement to me). I won't bore you with the rest of my crappy day, but I've finally FINALLY just left the office only to have DH tell me that not only is his evil bro back in the country, but he's decided to "pop round" tonight. My unbelievably irritating bro-in-law is pretty much top of the list of people I least want to spend my evening with on a normal day, let alone today!! Seriously considering going off to the cinema by myself tonight!

Apologies for the self-centred whining. This is nothing to do with being pg and nothing compared to the excellent news we've had today! I'm just a bit fed up right now. Sorry again!

Purplebuns · 20/09/2011 19:55

Go out Scream I regularly have a fantasy about taking myself out for a coffee and a magazine all by myself. Heaven.
That sounds like a really shit day, he should be disciplined for swearing at you.

Meconium Glad the cards went down well, sounds lovely I wish I had family who could knit Envy

musicalmrs · 20/09/2011 20:04

Menconium, that sounds great! I really think I'll be pinching your card idea, when the time is right! I've not had any forms to fill in since getting my BFP (other than hospital ones, d'oh!), but hopefully soon!

Speaking of dentists.. is it true we get free dental care? If so, how do we go about it? I'm pretty sure I'm due for a checkup...

Scream - Whine away, I have for the past few days! I hate it when you get home from a horrific day at work and can't have a nice evening. You should definitely take yourself away to escape! :) And yes - it's the best outcome I could have at the moment, so all's good :)

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 20/09/2011 20:16

Love, hurray! Excellent news! And Musical too - so pleased that the hcg levels have gone up. How far along are you? I was told at 6+5 that they couldn't be sure yet that it wasn't twins, so perhaps you still have that to come! I am a twin myself and so is my dad, so I am just waiting for my set of twins (I will be tres Envy if my sister has twins and I don't). Maybe next time...

We do get free dental care, but I don't know how you go about organising it. Maybe ask the receptionist when you get there/on the phone? I suppose I ought to go for check-ups, but my uncle is my dentist and I don't like to bother him if I'm not in agony. He treats me for free, so I don't like to take advantage. Do you normally pay for check-ups?

musicalmrs · 20/09/2011 20:40

TooImmature - not sure to be honest! The paperwork today said 6+something since LMP, but the sonographer said she thought I wasn't that far along due to a lack of heartbeat - 5 weeks ish instead (which would correlate with one of three times I thought I ov-ed last month - mad cycles!). So.. not a clue! No twins in my family though. By the way - love your use of 'tres' - DH and I slip into franglais a lot (both did A level French, both having forgotten most of it now!), and it's great to hear someone else saying it too ;)

I haven't had a check up since I stopped being a student, at which point I was still covered by my parents' private dentistry cover (no NHS dentists where they live). When I've worked out where my nearest surgery is (we moved recently) I'll give them a ring.

HidingInTheUndergrowth · 20/09/2011 21:34

Hurrah for musical and love! super great news. We are definitely due some twins on here, though I confess I am rather relieved that it's not me who is due to have them :o

You get an nhs card thing which entitles you to free prescriptions and dentist stuff. My midwife completed a form for me at my booking in and then I got the card through the post about a week later. If you have a midwife contact you could ask them about it or try your gp as they might be able to sort the form for you. Hope that helps :)

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 20/09/2011 21:36

Okay I'm now home, I've had a very stress-relieving moan to my Mum and I'm hiding out in my bedroom watching The Daily Show under the pretext of "an early night" while the evil BIL mooches about downstairs. i also have a huge bar of white chocolate keeping me company In short I feel much better! Sorry for unloading on the thread earlier.

What I SHOULD have mentioned in my earlier text is how sweet Meconium's story was! Such a lovely idea and I'm glad there was a great response! I'm also v Envy of your LO having knitwear by Nana! Just too sweet!

I second all the dentist questions. Now that the dental hospital won't touch me while I'm pg, if something horrible happens in the next few months I'm going to have to find a NHS dentist to do something short term. Any pointers on claiming free dentistry would be super helpful! Does it involve the form you get from the midwife for free prescriptions?

I saw a girl in my office today who's 21 weeks pg. She announced her pg right around the time I got my BFN in my last unsuccessful cycle, and altho I was happy for her I was so gutted when I heard! Seeing her today was just so completely different! I felt genuinely thrilled with her news about her scan last week. She doesn't know I'm pg of course, but I felt so excited to finally be pg and to not be bitter! I can't explain it without sounding evil! I hope you know what I mean.

It is so lovely being pg after wanting it for ages. The one good thing about today has been a little less nausea, so I want to make sure I'm fully appreciating all the positive moments in this pg which I'm so grateful for! Of course if the nausea isn't back to full strength tom I'll start worrying all over again - there's no pleasing some people! Grin

Biscuitsandtea · 21/09/2011 07:32

Scream - sounds like you had a day of it yesterday - and totally understand re getting home from a day like that to have a less than welcome guest round! I do know what you mean though about it being nice to not feel that slightly bitter feeling about other people being pg - and not too long until you'll be sharing your scan news with her Smile

Re the dentist thing, Hiding is right - the mw does the form for you and you get a prescription exemption card through the post. It will be valid until 1 yr after your due date. Then when you go to the NHS dentist you just show them the card when you fill in the forms and don't pay - easy peasy Smile.

The tricky bit is getting an NHS dentist if you don't already have one! A lot of them have waiting lists but I don't know if they would take you quicker if you said you were pg? We haven't changed ours since we moved house as they are so hard to come by - and our current dentist is really nice and I don't want to change and find they are not as good/nice (with us or ds). When ds gets to school age and I've got to fit appts round school we might get dental insurance I think - DH can have it as one of these flexible benefit things you get from work. Perhaps we'll treat ourselves to that instead of nursery vouchers!

Forgotten everything else I wanted to say baby brain and on iPad so will post again in a tick....
