Taking liberties again Grin as there are only 5 posts to go on old thread. Hope everyone is well this morning!

Caliphora · 21/09/2011 09:26

Mer That's odd - you'd expect them to cover the whole mattress!

Pam You hero!

Merlioness · 21/09/2011 09:46

Yeah, agreed. I was wondering if they were really for moses baskets only. Ho hum. The fitted sheets with the same description fit :)

voodoomunkee · 21/09/2011 12:53

Well done Pam! I had a similar useless conversation with a doctor at my last appointment - culminating in OH refusing to let me go back to be given duff info and spoken to like I was an imbecile! Should be interesting for delivery time!!

I am having a very sad work day, been to a meeting at my old uni with old lecturers and work just doesnt cut it for me as a result! Additionally we are having a bit of a rough patch at work...

I need a holiday! Preferably with a swimming pool and cooked breakfasts haha

bumpandisaacsmum · 21/09/2011 13:16

pam yay for standing your ground and them listening to you :)

stripey hope you enjoyed your holiday and have come back refreshed.

snoozle sorry you had such a bad appt, hope your next one goes better

Had GP yesterday who has signed me off work for the next 2weeks but has said if I want to go back on restrictions then she'll happily give me a fit note. Went into work and discussed the possibility with my manager and team leader & was suprised that they suggested just 2hrs a day office based - was really expecting to say that it not worth it esp as it would only be for 2.5 weeks!! So will phone GP tomorrow and if she agrees will go back to work next week.

Ziggimajiggi · 21/09/2011 13:25

Hi ladies,

Had some great baby snuggles last night so feeling well maternal.

Pam - Totally loving your retort!

Voodoo - Hope you're feeling more positive soon.

Bump - that's great that they're prepared to accomodate you. Let us know how you get on!

PMA: 1.5 weeks to go! I'm using some holidays to finish at the end of next week. Really really really cannot wait!

Staceroo · 21/09/2011 13:35

Pam sounds like he's just trying to keep himself in a job!

nursing bras - I was told to get fitted for them 6 weeks before due date, so will probs go next weekend. But I'm not going to buy any nursing tops etc. Just going to buy lots of stringy vests and wear them under whatever else I'm wearing, so I can lift my normal tops up and the vest top down a bit, without having to get my belly and back out.

Nice day at work today, all of the bosses are out. So taking it a little easy and having a good gossip with the girls, looks like they'll be starting up a sweepstake on dates or names!

Has anyone else noticed reduced movements in the last week or two? I presume it's because she has less room in there now. I'm still defo getting way more than 10 a day, but nothing like her usual fidgity self. Have been paranoid and if I go more than an hour without feeling anything I get panicky. I haven't been scared much since my 20 week scan, but it's really starting to kick in now and am so worried something will go wrong :(

PMA = Nursery furniture arrived yesterday!

cep · 21/09/2011 14:09

stace yes i have especially the last few days, have been getting a bit worried.

can't remember who had the pelvic pain, but sounds to me like it could be spd or pgp. i get pains in my groin when i walk anywhere, especially as i stand up. Pains in my back espeically in bed, i get shooting pains through my groin when i turn over in bed, through both back and groin if i've been lying on back inbed. Also a couple of time baby has turned and it felt like my whole groin seperated.

kelly does that thirst feeling go then?

i realised (think i know) what went wrong last time with bf, when i moved to pump cause ds couldn't attach properly (my nips i think) i wasn't pumping during the night i only did it during the day, it's only been listening to chip and poppet that made me realise. The mw's/hv's never asked me if i was pumping during the night, so obviously i started drying up.

cep · 21/09/2011 14:10

sorry and way to go pam i'm one of those people who always think of things to say afterwards.

bump so glad that your manager is happy to actually work with you regarding going back.

Tjuice · 21/09/2011 14:17

It's weird how different the situations and perspectives on birth methods, pain relief etc are, both from country to country and from person to person. I had heard that it was rather difficult to get pain relief here if you wanted it (wasn't my own experience) and that they would try their utmost to dissuade you from c-sections, unless it was absolutely necessary (again, I don't think its as militant as that).

Personally, I would rather have the flexibility to pick and choose from the whole menu of options at any given time! But on the other hand, setting your focus from the beginning helps you feel in control. I just hate when doctors and midwives are too pedantic - isn't it their job to help you make informed decisions at all points, rather than dictating to you?

I had my midwife appointment today and she was okay. Can't say I have a massive rapport with her but we did talk about life in general and the pressures of work etc. Anyway, she estimated (with her hands) that the baby is 1.9 kilos, which is spot on for 32 weeks apparently.

voodoo - I sympathise. We are in a vortex of a bad patch at work right now. And for my own sanity, I need to start the process of decoupling from it all.

KellyKettle · 21/09/2011 14:30

cep It does although I can't be sure when. Some time between birth and 2.8yrs... Smile. I think some of the sensation is to do with prolactin and oxytocin - a weird calming effect (although I also used to think the calming sensation was also due to the fact that DD was suddenly latched on and silent!).

Yes, reduced movements here. Baby rotated a bit yesterday and hit my sciatic nerve, reminding me why I am seeing a chiropractor.

I have gone a bit silly on the buying of post baby things. I can't stand the thought of being out and about with a baby and being cold. I am still living in Birkenstocks because I don't have to bend to put them on. I have just ordered a size 10 coat (no idea how to tell now if it actually will fit me when the baby is born), some boots, a nursing vest and this breastfeeding dress because I like wearing dresses in winter but don't like lifting the hem up to my neck in order to feed Grin.

Off to listen to my natal hypno cd now and do some exercises from the chiro.

H007 · 21/09/2011 14:31

Am I the only one who's boobs haven't really grown? :( I know thanks to the investigations in breast cancer (ultrasound and biospy) that my boobs are getting ready for bean's arrival otherwise I would be getting really worried haha.

There is an local aquanatal class on a Wednesday here and I quite fancied going however when it came down to it I didn't have the guts to go on my own :-(

With regards to baby movements mine did really slow down and disappear for a little while however the last two days she has been really fidgty. Today I also cannot stop eating so maybe we have had a growth spurt.

KellyKettle · 21/09/2011 14:41

voodoo this is the LLL leaflet I was thinking of:

www.lllgbbooks.co.uk/product/323/supporting_a_breastfeeding_mother_-_pad_of_50/default.aspx

You can buy it for 75p but I also think you local leader can give you a copy for free or via the helpline. Pregnant women always welcome at meetings - in fact, more than welcome! Plus they have cake, usually, if you're interested Smile

H007 mine have only grown in the last few weeks (now 35 weeks) so I wouldn't worry - the big increase comes about 3 days post birth...thats a shocker!

voodoomunkee · 21/09/2011 14:46

re the movements..... I am much the same and have even started worrying I should be going to get checked out. Coupled with the fact I just feel a bit uncomfortable and have erm sore bits!

My boobs havent grown either, then again I have lost loads of weight in order to get the 'birth that I want', I still fit into pre pregnancy clothes. However I still cant go to the MLU. Nevermind eh!

SnoozleDoozle · 21/09/2011 15:29

Thanks for all your kind words everyone, and you are all so right, today is another day, so I've just got to put the rotten day behind me. Think I was just a bit overwhelmed.

Cep it was me who posted about pelvic pain. I'm pretty sure myself that its SPD because I had it with DD, although not as badly as this time round. But the strange thing was that last time, the Drs were all over it, they noticed I was walking strangely before it ever really occurred to me that something was wrong. This time round, I'm getting a bit of the 'oh, its just pg aches and pains, everyone gets them' but I feel that its way beyond 'aches and pains', its fairly debilitating. Worst at night in some ways - sleeping on my side, as advised, results in agony in the pelvis and legs. I try to do it, because I know its best, but then sometimes I have to just prop myself up with pillows and try to sleep upright instead, but then I fall asleep, slide down, wake up on my back and panic that I have done lasting damage to my baby! (I think I mentioned before that I am a bit of a worrier.....!)

Caliphora · 21/09/2011 16:33

Surely when you're this far along in the pregnancy it's a rookie mistake to forget a wee sample?! (grumbles at unprepared pregnant ladies waste valuable nhs time).

Also, how come my Sprout is now a giant baby? Still waiting to see mw, but sonographer said "Have they told you she's a big baby?".
Grr.

voodoomunkee · 21/09/2011 16:52

Kelly, thanks for that! Must have xposted with you earlier, sorry!!!

PamSco · 21/09/2011 17:08

Stace I've been wearing string vests as belly bands - it was recommended somewhere on mn. The long body M&S ones are lovely and soft and about a fiver each. I was planning to use them under blouses or normal tops for feeding.

H007 I'm the same boobs aren't too much bigger, just very purple nipples! Which seem to fascinate OH? I've bought the bravado mat bras becuase they aren't a particular size so should accommodate the post birth swell - fingers crossed.

Thanks all - it is the only time in my life I've managed to time my retort appropriately. I'm very much a person who thinks of something the next day!

Off to the flicks tonight woohoo, and tapas before hand so I don't greedy tummy pain again.

Tjuice · 21/09/2011 17:21

kelly - I got that breastfeeding dress too! Way back in early summer, it was on sale on A Beautiful Mummy. Then I realised its a danish brand called Milker . They have very nice breastfeeding clothes.

I am also more focussed on what I will wear afterwards because I found it so difficult last time. It was a hot summer, so I could get away with clip-down vest tops and a scarf but how to breast feed in a freezing Scandinavian winter...

I like Swedish brand Boob and plan to buy one of the hoodies, and I bought a couple of the cool double t-shirts from Mama Feels Good. Plus a black nursing top from Isabella Oliver, one from Mothercare, a few clip-down vest tops and then my cardigans and check shirts and I think I will be sorted for a winter of feeding.

KellyKettle · 21/09/2011 17:35

Oh Tjuice I want the Boob hoodie & the bf tshirt (dark grey I decided today!). I just want to be warm!! Milker is lovely isn't it? I'm jealous that you got the dress in the sale. I ummed and ahhhed about it for a while but I decided I'd be gutted if it sold out. Have you tried yours on? I was a size 8 pre-pregnancy but am squeezing into size 10 mat trousers now but should wear a 12 and thought an XS was a bit optimistic.

Voodoo no problem! I found bf really difficult to begin with and so I now have a whole host of resources to call on. I'll be using biological nurturing positions to make it easier. I am quite worried about establishing bf with a newborn too. They're just so floppy (new babies, not my boobs! Well...)

Tjuice · 21/09/2011 18:00

I wish you hadn't put the Beautiful Mummy link on - I just bought the button jumper in Black. ;)

Caliphora · 21/09/2011 18:33

nipples - mine are escaping across my boobs! I've got dark brown flecks crawling from them!

So, I had the scan, and they're looking to set me off in 4 weeks time as Sprout it getting too big. So, 19th October is my new date - any bets on how long my induction will take?!

Folicacid · 21/09/2011 18:58

Cali 19th October is about two minutes!

I'm still Confused at Pam's string vests- awffy cold in the winter no? do you wear a knotted hankie on your head an all? Wink

I've had manic day on feet all day and feeling a bit sore. Glad to be finally home. Another two manic days ahead and considering working on saturday. Will have to extend my time at work, theres no other option really.

Still, that's a decision made which is a relief in some way.

I'm still feeling movement but it's more sore, kicks and jabs. Also the feelings of hiccups feels deeeeeep inside me. Think baby is still head down.

SnoozleDoozle · 21/09/2011 21:07

Folic the string vest and knotted hankie on your head, and the 'awffy' have just taken me back to being wee.....Santa used to bring me The Broons annual every year (well, the Broons one year, and Oor Wullie the next). I was the youngest blond child in a big family, so I was always the Bairn.....awww, happy times! I have a feeling that anyone outside of Scotland won't necessarily be familiar with this reference.....! (and I'm not even in Scotland either, but culturally and linguistically we're near enough....)
