Hey sleepy where are you that it's so hot? Aus? exotic fruit sounds great, am well jealous!

if it's any consolation I am huge too, none of my clothes fit and I am well into maternity stuff - very obviously pregnant and getting the same twins comments as you. And my baby is measuring big eeeeek! Although i heard from a friend yesterday that his wife was induced early because they thought the baby was growing big and then found that they'd measured it wrong and it was totally average!!! I'd be furious if that happened to me!!

parsley those socks are dead cute.

I can't find my Boots pack - it came in the post but my husband has 'tidied it away' somewhere Sad - I WANT MY FREE BAAAAAAG!!! WAAAAH!

greenlady78 · 02/10/2011 07:52

Hello lovely ladies! Tried to catch up with all the news, but impossible! You're chatty bunch! Re. Changing bag, just got my voucher from Boots and please to read the bag is good, so will defo get it! parsley the socks freaked me out at first then I realised they were for children and then I liked them....hehehe.

Got so swollen this week it was a joke, heat and me a no no combination at the moment. My groin still dodge so seeing someone about it. I,ve been up since 5am...blah! Loving the sunshine and actually looking forward to the hot day (hopefully with no swollen legs!)

hope everyone is well otherwise and really want the mango & coconut cake recipe! Anyone? Grin

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 02/10/2011 09:16

Surprisingly I've only really put on weight on the bump, despite getting a very sweet tooth and munching a lot - I can only assume it's luck as I'm certainly not being careful.

Boots bagss seems good, if smaller than I thought, but all the mums at my baby group rave about it.

Anyway, I'd better go, DH is off playing with aeroplanes and I need to go to church so that at least one of us looks like a regular before we start demanding a christening!

Take care all, will drop by later.
x

PS- Ghost - at least you can put SIL on cat feeding duty!
Wombat - dead jealous of the tropical fruit
Parsley - still jealous of your chair to the point where I had a dream my DH bought me one

fishandlilacs · 02/10/2011 09:39

I had the boots bag with DD1 it was great, lasted me a year. Tis a brilliant freebie. But one bottle of EBM leaking killed it dead. It's got cardboard lining the bottom (inside the canvas) and the milk got in there and it rotted-it stank to high heaven and had to be ditched.

I started packing my hospital bag, but my handle fell off my flight case :( I need a new one and i think i'll get a slightly bigger one, by the time I had put my dressing gown, towel, nighties and a pack of breast pads and maternity pads in there it was full. I need room for food too goddammit! I was soo hungry in hospital last time. I'm thinking if I get a bigger case then maybe I can manage with only one bag and put stuff for baby in there too, although my new changing bag has a very roomy middle section and I reckon I can fit 6 sleepsuits and 6 vests plus about 20 nappies into it. DH can always bring a stash of nappies in again if we run out. Blankies and things can stay in the car seat til needed.

See I am getting on with the things within my control but getting the fecking DIY done is quietly driving me mad-DH is doing feck all toward it, but he has said he will start building the cupboard next weekend.

Mum2be79 · 02/10/2011 09:42

I'm 1lb heavier than what I was at 6 weeks pregnant.

Definitely into maternity wear now although some of my tops still fit due to the baggy style around the tummy area. Finding it difficult sleeping now. I'm put off buying a dreamgenii as I thought I could manage it but I'm giving up now. Too hot for me yesterday so I stayed indoors.

I had my 25 week appointment almost two weeks ago and they measured me as 24.5cm for 25 weeks and 3 days. I thought it was supposed to be 25cm but 0.5cm is nothing i suppose. MW seemed happy. I have my 28 week appointment on Weds 12th Oct and then my anti-D injection at the hospital on Fri 14th Oct so busy week next week.

9 more weeks until maternity leave - although only 8 weeks at work as half term is in between. The job advert for my cover ended Friday and interviews are in two weeks. At least he/she overlaps me by a week so my Year One children have a week of adjusting to their new teacher before I leave. Such a gorgeous class, will miss them. :(

Spagbolagain · 02/10/2011 10:09

The other advantages of having a freebie Boots bag are that a) it's black so it goes with everything, and b) it's actually good to have 2 with the essentials in. So if DH wants to take baby out, it's ready to go and c) as it's free, you don't mind taking it to slightly icky places where you might not want to take your good one (I used mine whenever we went swimming). I also put a little charm thing on mine for easy identification, as whenever you go anywhere like a group, there are always at least 5 that get put down.

I ate about half of a large chocolate trifle last night. Not good at all but was sooooo yummy. Going out for lunch today, think I better just have a salad :o

ParsleyLion1 · 02/10/2011 10:11

Morning :)

I've put on about 8lbs so far but it all seems to be on bump and boobs. Everything else is the same size I think. Though I've been in maternity clothes for ages - I had a nice layer of fat on my belly before hand which I think has just pushed out more. My belly button looks nowhere near popping yet.

addictediam · 02/10/2011 10:32

the only thing with the boots bag is they keep changing the design. i was compairing mine to my friends who got hers about 3 months ago and its smaller than mine and the changing bag no longer has a bag to put it in and its thinner. but its free. and as spag bol sais you can take it to the yucky places and not worry about it getting damaged or destroyed.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 02/10/2011 12:39

Church was nice, vicar was lovely, kept getting dizzy spells because of the heat, but feel better now I'm home.

Hated coming home knowing I'd be spending the rest of the day on my own. DH and I had such a lovely day yesterday just doing boring married people things (B&Q anyone?) and I feel cheated that I only get one day of that instead of the two everyone else gets. I substituted a lovely Sunday with DH with a lovely bar of Lindt with slivers of almonds. Totally not an adequate replacement, but if in doubt, comfort eat.

Hope you're all having a happy Sunday enjoying the sunshine or at least getting lots of laundry dry.

ParsleyLion1 · 02/10/2011 16:59

Hope your day was OK cakes and that at least the chocolate was yummy Wink

Very lazy day here. Not done too much. Made some enquiries about hypnobirthing classes.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 02/10/2011 17:36

Day = so so. The kitchen is gleaming (I'm going to be in trouble when DH comes home and sees it) and I think I must be sickening for something as I've only eaten 2 squares of the Lindt - a phenomenon that is almost unheard of!

Oh well, got my sense of humour back.

Also - due to prang on Thurs was driving like little old lady earlier and keeping immense stopping distance, so when prat in front of me did emergency brake on the middle of a roundabout I wasn't on the roundabout yet and didn't, therefore, run right up his jacksie leaving myself vulnerable to the car that came tearing round the roundabout from the right shortly afterwards. I would like to take this as a sign that the universe was trying to protect me by putting me in a mini crash to learn my lesson instead of broad-siding me and bubba on a roundabout three days later. Optimism lives eternal.

Heard back about any of the classes yet Parsley?

redheadbedhead · 02/10/2011 18:09

I've been working all weekend so only got to see the sun in the mornings and this sort of time! Never mind. A good weekend of work and some money earned thank god so I can't complain (too much...) A day off would be nice at some point though! This is the problem with being a musician - 4 weeks of nothing and then suddenly you're booked up every day and night for 2 weeks! Not sure what I'm going to do with the baby when it gets like this...

However my string quartet are mostly best mates so at least when we're working we also get to have fun as well. And they have decided my unborn child is called Barry Sputnik.

Sadly my OH actually thinks he's quite like Sputnik for real. As a real name. For my son.

We will have to have words... Hmm

Hope your day was ok in the end cakes

I still can't find my bloody Boots pack with the voucher!!! Grrr!

ParsleyLion1 · 02/10/2011 18:30

Not yet cakes there is one in my area that runs for 6 weeks from 20th Oct but they haven't confirmed a venue yet. I've sent an enquiry about that one. Most of the others look too far away so far.

OH says he doesn't want to come and that I can show him when I get back. Not so sure about that bit......

Oeisha · 02/10/2011 19:11

red just make sure DH isn't the one to register the birth. One of my exs has a Dad called the "wrong thing", then and forever (probably deliberatly) because father (who claims it was a mistake) registered the wrong name on birth cert.

I didn't get to see the sun today either, but am sooo happy it's pissed it down for the last few hours...air's much clearer and I feel much less shite.

cakes Maybe we should all adopt the 'driving like an old lady' routine. Though every time I am cautious my instruction tells me I'll get a minor for being hesitant (like stopping at a give way, as I couldn't see clearly because the sun was in my eyes). I'm really beginning to hate lessons.

I had another one of THOSE days at work. Stupid little bits of rubbish to deal with that could easily have been spotted days ago, but because most staff have never worked a Sunday, these things don't get spotted, because Sundays don't matter?!...oh and I had a feinter....bless her, but why the hell didn't she say she was feeling unwell???

GiraffeAHolic · 02/10/2011 19:18

I know I'm behind the times (what's new :)) but on the subject of changing bags, Dh bought me this bag as a surprise (I would never have bought it myself) and it's brilliant, really spacious, changing mat and wet bag, insulated pockets, stretchy clip thing so you don't lose your keys in the bottom of the bag.

I'm going to get the free boots one too so I can keep it in the car with spare clothes etc in.

We bought paint for baby's room today, it's 'soft truffle' it's similar to taupe and really lovely :)

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 02/10/2011 19:23

Parsley - whoever your birthing partner is needs to come to the classes, as they're the one who'll keep you in a hypno trance throughout labour - it's one of the reasons I like it so much in fact, because it gives DH an actual, useful role rather than chief flutterer and holder of hands, y'know?

In fact, DH and I are both hoping that he'll be the one to receive the baby and hand it to me, so sproglet is held only by its parents for those first crucial moments. If the hypnobirth goes as planned then this is a highly realistic expectation to have :)

I think you're going to have to explain to your DH that this is the case... Either that or have someone else as your birthing partner?

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 02/10/2011 19:25

ps - giraffe - love that bag, it sounds really useful and the styling isn't too twee (though I'm against slogans/words as a general rule) but I'm not sure anyone will be spending £75 on a bag for me!

DH has promised to take me shopping for a ring with our baby's birthstone in it though. He knows I feel shortchanged that he chose the engagement ring without me! lol

ParsleyLion1 · 02/10/2011 19:37

Nice bag giraffe Smile

cakes I'm working on him as we speak. They have come back to me now and it looks like the class will be quite local. Only problem will be he will be away on business for at least 2 weeks of the 5 week class. I'll have to see how it goes - I don't want a different birthing partner.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 02/10/2011 19:52

Bummer - still, 3 out of 5 migt be OK, as long as he does his homework for the ones he missed... Ask the teacher about it?

ParsleyLion1 · 02/10/2011 20:13

She said "If you are having a birth companion, and they can attend, that would be fantastic as you will get maximum benefit." so I'm reading that as it will be OK but I will check specifically I think.

abeautifulbutterfly · 02/10/2011 20:17

I am in awe of all you lot who are buying so much baby stuff already. I still feel like it's such a long way off (head-in-sand, moi?).

DOn't think I ever actually had a changing bag - how do you manage with your own bag, a baby bag, a baby and a baby vehicle (pram/buggy/sling/car seat)?? Oh, plus toddler/small child for those having DC2+... I had problems enough without. I tended to use a rucksack with my and baby's things inside (poss separated into differnt pockets if feeling organised enough...) Then I had 2 hands free for baby and manoeuvring.

The only thing I can actually think of I need to buy is a baby monitor/alarm thing because the bedrooms are upstairs and small noises are missable if the TV is on or I'm in the kitchen. But it will have to wait anyway as I'm completely skint atm, waiting for payment of a big invoice. And then the DCs' karate lessons need paying for first.

On the pg front, a nasty strain of heartburn seems to have hit - suddenly at the wedding last night, just as I'd polished off some chicken in aspic... And it has stuck, I feel like I've got a hangover despite having had just half a glass of white all night... But I haven't danced so much in ages - great fun, even if the music was a bit crap. Didn't get home till 2.30 am! And our lovely friends kept our kids amused till 1 p.m today and then invited us for lunch and coffee when we went to pick them up. SO a good time has been had by all.

fishandlilacs · 02/10/2011 20:27

butterfly i ditched my own bag while using a changing bag-it became a multi use thing. My purse, keys, phone and lippy were kept in the front pockets while baby stuff was inside.

I also used to keep a spare changing mat similar to this one in the car at all times, just incase the changing bag was forgotten, oh along with the "poo kit" for the pushchair too, I lost count the amount of times I transferred dog shite from the wheels of the pram onto my coat after country walks and putting back in the car. I used to keep an old toilet bag, with a bottle of soapy water, antibacterial wipes, latex gloves and an old washing up brush in the back of the car. Now thats organised and totally worth it the effort!

Mum2be79 · 02/10/2011 20:54

I'm pondering something my mum suggested.

Having awful back pain when in bed. Every morning it is difficult getting out and standing up without holding onto something with support. I'm assuming baby lies deep in my lower back and the time has come for support at bedtime. However, my mum suggested that maybe I don't have enough fluid around the baby.

Possible?

I try to sleep on my left but during the night, I automatically move onto my back with my arms above my head and sometimes I move onto my right side.

Spagbolagain · 02/10/2011 20:54

butterfly my changing bag became my handbag for 12 months, I couldn't have carried anything else :) was wonderful when I finally went out on my own and could carry a normal-size one again. The rucksack tip is a good one especially when carrying baby or using sling. One of the reasons I loved my bag was it converted from shoulder strap to rucksack by unclipping.

Just about to settle in for Downton Abbey with a bar of cadburys caramel....

ParsleyLion1 · 02/10/2011 21:05

What make was that bag spagbol? I like the sound of a convertible rucksack.
