Hello ladies, thank you for thoughts on my groin sprain! I did follow the instruction of getting changed while sitting, keeping hip aligned, etc and am happy to say (fingers crossed, touch wood, etc) that today I feel better! I ended up going to yoga on Saturday and teacher was well aware of my injury so none of the exercices I did touched that area and felt good too to move about for a change!

I feel my bump has arrived! Have been feeling like I am actually carrying the litte one around Smile I might buy a bump belt, or whatever they are called, anyone using one already? Are they really good or do they just make you hotter? (er, not in the sexy hot kind of way I must add....)

Sorry to hear about the colds ladies...there was a lady with a pretty bad cold at the yoga class and I was a bit crossed...stay home, do not share the 'germs'!!!! Angry

Slightly jealous of you ladies with cars, nurseries at the ready and kitchens to plan....we live in a rented flat and all we are doing is "de-cluttering" like crazy!!!! Husband is getting a week off Shock to help me de-clutter the second bedroom (that gives and idea of how much the red cross around the corner will get very soon heheheh)

Ugh, I always end up writing too much....sorrryyyyyy!!!!! Hope everyone is well and that the scans for today go fantastically well!!!

Hugs all around! xxx

Fryn · 19/09/2011 10:14

Goodness - what a sickly lot! Hope you're all feeling better.

green I think there are some seriously good bits about renting - ie not having to pay for major repairs. Our boiler's leaking again, after we spent £800 on it last year, and as it's not the same part it won't be covered under warranty, so that's going to be a lovely expense I wish a landlord would cover!

oiesha hope your kitty's op goes ok. Poor little fella - does he get dentures? I can't quite get my head round the no teeth thing.

Had a chaotic weekend of friends over on Saturday and then yesterday our NCT get together round ours with five 2 year olds and 4 babies, so we were three 2 year olds down, and the carnage was unbelievable! Amazingly nothing got on our ill thought out cream sofa. The another what the hell were we thinking cream rug was another matter, but as DD spends most of her time rubbing crayon into it anyway, I'm past caring! It was so lovely to have cuddles with the babies - the youngest is 2 weeks old. Really made me very excited about G2.

Just read the notes from my scan, and turns out I have an anterior placenta too, which may be why I'm only getting dull thumpings rather than right old wallops. Sort of hope that changes!

Have a good Monday girls - another day closer to the weekend!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 19/09/2011 10:24

greenlady - I was just rhapsodising to ghost yesterday about how much I liked my bump band - it just gives me a bit of extra support, especially good if I'm doing a lot of walking.

Today is a crappy day. I am f*cking tired, very emotional and feeling like I'm letting myself and DH down by not making any enough money. I wish I had just stayed on my benefits because I actually made more money that way and contrary to my original beliefs I do not have more pride in myself now, because I feel like a financial drain on the man I love more than any other person in the world.

Does anybody on here need a local business promoting? I'll do you a 15% MN friend discount on my PR services...

I keep wishing I'd develop an actual illness so I could stop feeling like a fraud who can;t cope when every other pregnant woman still seems to be holding down a fulltime job. Messed up.

Like I said - bad bad day. Wondering what the MW would do if I just turned up on their doorstep and cried at them.

shonnomanom · 19/09/2011 10:59

Oh cakes so sorry your having a crappy day ((hugs)), coincidently on The Wright Stuff today they have been talking about how given the lack of work there is more and more people that are better off on benfits these days. Its a sad situation.

Our predicament is that if we were in a house ie back and front door and not a flat I could childmind and bring in potentially 3 maybe 4 times more money. But given the house market nothing is really selling and we cant afford the houses that are for sale in the area we want.

oiesha I hope everything goes well at the vets today. And try find a balance between being on your feet and sitting down. Its too easy to veg on the couch at the end day and thats not good for your pelvis/hips. If it gets any worse then visit your mw, it could be PGP. (I hope not)

giraffe I had to recount in my diary yesterday because I couldnt believe I was 25weeks already. Its going super quick!

My hormones are so much worse this time round. Im so glad that my boss has gave me the day off today as I really cannot be arsed dealing with the kids.
Iv got 1 kid tommorrow, possibly off on Wed and both kids on Thurs then im off for the holiday weekend!!!! Then 3 weeks later its the October holiday week then 5 weeks later Mat leave starts!!!! Good Times! Grin

OP posts:
GiraffeAHolic · 19/09/2011 11:14

Sho what makes it more scary is that it means that we only have 15 weeks left to go Shock

Good luck at the vets Oiesha, my ginger tom got stuck in somewhere a few weeks ago and was at deaths door (renal failure, liver failure, bladder failure, slow heart, you name it was wrong with him), the vets were amazing and my miracle mog pulled through.

MakesCakes Don't know what to say, if you think it would help then definitely pop in to the MW, it's there job after all. Mine was amazing when I explained everything that was going on.

MummyZoe Hope your car gets sorted.

Oh and I am reserving the right to punch the next interfering helpful soul who tells me that morning sickness should go by 12 weeks Angry Yes, of course, you're right, I'm completely imagining throwing my guts up every morning and at least once during the day at 25 weeks pregnant.

Phew that's better, sorry for the outburst!

greenlady78 · 19/09/2011 11:38

makescakes I know how you feel! I started my own business as well and it is sooo hard as there is no money coming through yet...so I feel like my husband has to work extra hard to keep us and it is so draining. I always paid my own way since I was 18 and now to have to ask for money as well just makes me feel down Sad I'm just trying to be positive in the sense that no one will give me a job now anyway, so whatever happens I have to wait till little one is here! Huuugggssssss your way! (by the way, may I ask which bump band you are using?)

giraffe you poor thing! My sister in law was the same, there was a time where they actually but a fluffy rug by the toilet so that she would feel comfortable whilst she hugged the loo several times a day! Hope you do feel better soon!

You said 15 weeks to go???? Yikes, must, must chose a pram and crib and can't do it! Went to John Lewis yesterday to 'thread the waters' and left more overwhelmed than before Confused

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 19/09/2011 11:41

To try and distract myself I would like to run an unofficial mini-poll

I suggest that actual throwing up means you're expecting a girl, just feeling sick with minimal throwing up means you're expecting a boy. All my evidence for this is empirical - if you know what you're having can you merely state "Right" or "Wrong" based on your own experience.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 19/09/2011 11:46

greenlady - no idea which bump band - someone in my bumps and babies group gave me their old one. I'll go and have a look at it to see if it has any useful information.

Can I also suggest doing what DH and I do with our finances - we worked out budgets for household, cars etc, and decided on an amount of money for an 'allowance' for each of us, each month. All of our money goes into the general pot and we both have the same amount to spend on frivolities or hobbies or gifts for each other. It's nice because it feels like when I buy him a present I'm not doing it out of 'his' money. At least i don't feel like I have to ask for money, I just wish I earnt more to start with so we could pay off our debts/save up faster.

brb with bump band info.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 19/09/2011 11:56

Carriwell bump band

shonnomanom · 19/09/2011 12:14

On the daily sickness topic: My sis inlaw was sick everyday right up to about 7months. Once that stopped she started to gain baby weight, she hadnt gained anything in that 7months. For the poll: it was a girl.

addictediam · 19/09/2011 13:10

Makescakes wrong! I'm joining team pink! I'm still in shock.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 19/09/2011 13:11

Congrats! Not what you were expecting then...? (pun not intended)

addictediam · 19/09/2011 14:06

Nope, I was convinced it was a boy. I even asked the sonographer to check again just to be sure!

Fryn · 19/09/2011 14:11

cakes - with DD I felt sick but never was sick. Another friend of mine was sick as a dog (3 times a day until 26 weeks) and had a boy. Sorry!

GiraffeAHolic · 19/09/2011 14:14

Well with Dd I had actual sickness every day of the pregnancy including those spent in labour.

This pregnancy is going the same way and we are team yellow so time will tell.

My cousin had bad sickness with her son and my friend had no nausea but felt sick with her Dd.

Not sure what that does to your results Smile

shonnomanom · 19/09/2011 14:43

Congrats on your team Pink addicted

Last pregnancy I was sick a few times, the result was girl. This time I havent been sick once. So your theory suggests im having a boy. Will need to wait 15weeks-ish Shock to find out

Made a cake to celebrate not having to work today!

greenlady78 · 19/09/2011 15:28

Thanks makescakes!!!!!! By the way my sis in law was sick all the time and had twin girls...but my sister had a girl and was never sick...Hmm

Will buy a belt, my belly feels huuuugeeee!

redheadbedhead · 19/09/2011 16:13

hello everyone, sorry i disappeared for a bit! been very busy with funerals/baby showers/parties/ emergency microphone mending trips.

cakes your poll isn't going too well....I'm having a boy and was sick for 2.5 months... sorry! and everyone kept telling me it was a girl cos of the sick. They were wrong. And I knew it was a boy all along mwah ha ha!!

giraffe having experienced the sickness I feel SO SORRY for you that you're still having to deal with it. How totally crappy. Hope you can find some ways to treat yourself and cheer yourself up. Sad

today I went to John Lewis to buy some wool to make a blanket for the Piglet - can't believe how expensive wool is, it would be much cheaper just to buy a blanket! Probably look better too! Added to this I took some JL vouchers I got given as a present from a friend for photographing her wedding, and then promptly forgot to use them. What an idiot. Is this what they call baby brain? It was going to be so perfect - she was also the one who taught me to knit, so I thought it would have extra specialness using the vouchers she gave me.

Anyway. I'm a muppet. And £40 less well off.

Had mw appointment today and heard heart again, all fine. She is the 4th midwife I've seen now, and definitely the worst. Hope I don't get her again, well unfriendly.

Congrats on your little girl addicted hooray! How many more people are still waiting to have their scans? can't be many now....

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 19/09/2011 16:19

red - nope, poll isn't going too well, but it did distract me.

FFR try buying yarn online/in charity shops - JL is the least wallet friendly place to buy yarn, though last time I was in JL I totally fell in love with some v expensive Swedish merino baby wool called MillaMia which I resisted (dry clean only for a baby?) but have been dreaming about since, so may go back and buy some anyway... tum ti tum... Beautiful grey-blue colour too - so subtle and delicious for either sex.

yarn porn.
Still, the knit and chat I went to today may yield some paid photography work, so that would make it worth something!

redheadbedhead · 19/09/2011 16:39

oooh do you do photography as well? nice.

I have terrible yarn porn. Thanks for the advice re online. I find it too hard to buy online at the moment as I always need help in the shop being a very naive and unknowledgable beginner knitter Blush But once I know what I'm doing that will be the way forward....

Learned what DK and Arran meant today, so at least I'm getting somewhere, slowly...

knittiekitty · 19/09/2011 16:50

Hya, it's been ages again and I'm sorry to keep missing the news before it's old. Hope everyone is doing well. Our front room decorating is dragging on (dh is still painting the woodwork) so the evenings are cramped up as furniture is still awry. Not that I have any particular issue but strangely I feel a bit shy about posting & reading about wimmin's stuff in front of him!
Shock about the kitchen quotes mum2be - all the house mags I've bought seem to feature readers homes with Ikea kitchens, might be worth a look?
I've been getting lots of BH and at night she's taken to a particularly nasty upper cut action that makes me gasp. That will get me banished to the spare room faster than the snoring at this rate!
Dd started school last week (mornings only so very difficult to cover between us) and I've already been told off for forgetting to put her name into her cardy. It's hard work and they send home lots of bits of coloured paper. Somehow I'm to keep up juggling work, retching, and the needs of the confetti mountain. Life is suddenly much harder!
Oeisha I have aches around my hips too, not enough to be troubling doc or paracetamol with but niggly nonetheless. 25 weeks today - roll on Christmas!

Nanny01 · 19/09/2011 17:09

Spent this morning in A& E with dd2 as dd1 shut her sisters foot in the door and it ripped most of the nail of her big toe. DD2 had to suck on gas & air while they removed the rest of the damaged nail while I gave her lessons on how to breath it in she will do well when she has her own kids. It was comical as she couldn't stop giggling and was rather spaced out for a few mins after. Dd1 jealous now as dd2 has all the attention. Really glad we are having another boy can't wait for next month when we will have a 4d scan and get to see our baby's face for real.

knittiekitty · 19/09/2011 17:10

Duh, just realised I was reading from wrong page - it really has been that long!
cakes and redhead if you're feeling strong try browsing the Laughing Hens website. Gorgeous yarns and partly responsible for my unused stash. If I still lived in London I'd check out I Knit London which is very near Waterloo station - supposed to be fab so let me know if you find it!
Also cakes keep your chin up, it's a tough patch with ages to go and all the uncomfortable stuff still ongoing. I made Nigella's plum cake in desperation today after a such a bad day that included providing dd with packed lunch that isn't starting til Wednesday - she was really upset that I took it away as we'd been practising opening the plastic tubs yesterday and she was very excited. I also returned the 'wrong' forms and felt like sobbing as I walked away. Dd is fine of course, we had a 'picnic' when I got her home but the plum cake won't come out of the tin. Dh doesn't fancy it now anyway as she can see the chopped plums in it. I will go and scrape at it and raise a handful to you in solidarity! Off to start foraging for dinner...

redheadbedhead · 19/09/2011 17:26

I Knit London is great great great. Definitely worth a quick visit if any of you have to pass through Waterloo... you WILL spend money though.

knittiekitty · 19/09/2011 17:47

Red I suspected as much! Just as well JL is my only browsing option.

Nanny sorry to hear about your morning, that sounds so painful poor love.

The plum cake eventually levered out of the tin and tasted very sooothing. Have stashed half of it in the freezer to save my tomorrow self. I got the all clear from the starving glucose tolerance test this week so have renewed sweet tooth battles. It was easier to be strong when I was scared of diabetes - pathetic will power here.
